thanks a lot, i did as instructed but ended up discovering that it was enabled all along. Still no progress
Wow....it looks like this is then going to be a display driver issue. Not sure what that techie did....but you may need to make sure your display driver is updated correctly.

Please Help....

I use Dell inspiron 5520... Core i5... windows 7...

My system is on the verge of crashing.... I uninstalled my anti virus two months ago due to I found out it wasn't too efficient....
I had been careful about downloading, flash drives and other sources of virus,.... pending when I get a new anti virus,..

last week... after charging a techno phone with my laptop,.... I realised its booting process became slow.... Then... Programs started hanging....

I decided to get a Kaspersky 2015 antivirus.... While installing... it kept asking me to reboot.... I decided to do defragmention.... Which was cancelling itself..... also... I tried d "Clean up option".... It's also hanging,.... I tried installing Registry Repair software.... Found 442 errors but wiped only 25 of them.... I uninstalled that.... I tried Kavremover but not responding..... I also freed my Harddisk memory of over 200Gig....

Yet, the system is still hanging and very very slow.....

I am running out of ideas.... I don't want to format the whole thing....

Any advicehuhhuh?
I'm sorry but at this point in your PC life....reformatting is the best thing to do at this point.

Now....there is a way to successfully do this thing without losing all your files. It requires a little patient but its efficient. You need to first shrink your hard drive and secure a enough space to save all your personal files in there.

Then when you reformat to install windows...make sure you dont touch the drive you saved your files into. once you login after installation of windows....you should be able to access all your personal files.

Now the key thing here is that you need to make sure none of those personal files are infected with any virus.

Alright, when i want to play my game of 'hearts' here's the first feedback: hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow game performance. Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on. So, there it is sir.
Well it helps now that you gave us the exact error you are getting...
This is not really a driver issue...rather a settings issue...

Right click on your desktop and click on screen resolution
look at lower right corner and click on Advanced settings
Go to the troubleshooting tab and click on Change Settings
Now make sure the Hardware acceleration slider is moved to enable.
Dont forget to click OK....you may be asked to restart...if not...just restart and try playing your game.

As far as you network controller....you may need to get that driver installed if you are thinking of using internet....you may need both the wireless and wired driver.

Have an Acer Aspire One mini whose problem started when the need to use company's wifi took of to a techie. After everything he did, my computer is now slow to function when i want to play games. He said some drivers are missing. Please how do i get the drivers as Systems Restore couldn't do the trick.
Few questions

What operating system?
What drivers are you missing? (go to device manager and list all the drivers with a yellow notification)

And why is the "techie" not fixing this issue he probably caused?

Pls how do i create usb flash drive to format and reinstal win8 on my hp 15 notebook pc cus it wont boot up. I tried using dvd rom bt the system say fail to boot from selected device.
We need more information about whats going on here. because you may have a bad ISO image, you may have burnt it into the dvd incorrectly (dvd needs to be burnt as a "bootable image"wink

Preferably, i like to use usb. So you would need to prepare the usb as a bootable image first.

You can use a third party software to do that, or if you are Nigeria with poor or no network..then command prompt is best...by doing this

Insert USB.
Open up command prompt (best to right click and run as administrator)
type and enter DISKPART
type and enter LIST DISK
You should see a list of all disks on the computer...note the number of your usb drive
type and enter SELECT DISK 1 (that 1 should be the number assigned to your usb..so it may be different for yours)
type and enter CLEAN
type and enter CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
type and enter SELECT PARTITION 1
type and enter ACTIVE
type and enter FORMAT FS=NTFS
type and enter ASSIGN
type and enter EXIT

Once all that is done...you should copy the windows image contents and paste it the usb drive. (Please make sure you are copying and pasting the extracted files into the usb drive)

reboot and boot into the usb drive.

Engineers in the house, my hp laptop windows 8.1 just stopped reading Pdf files the message I get time each time I try to launch any file is this: "the application didn't start" what could be wrong?
Not sure what could cause that besides thinking you may have a bad adobe reader software. I would recommend uninstalling and installing adobe reader again. Atleast if this doesnt resolve the issue, then we know its not adobe reader's issue. And that it could be something else.

my laptop is an intel display graphic driver when i was using win 7 dats the follow come graphic driver for the laptop which is hp 620..but since i upgraded to windows 8.1 it change to microsoft basic display adapter..it was the microsoft basic display adapter i disabled..
Yes it looks like you are better off staying with Windows 7 if possible, because there is little or no driver support for Windows 8.1 for your laptop; especially for none for the display driver.

Besides Windows 7 is much better and stable (in my opinion)

thank u ,u r a great help..i av disable my graphic driver since it wont uninstall..if i go to hp site..hp.com and click on download driver and search for my hp620 wat i do see there is drivers for windows 7 professional cos dats my default hp n hp knows dat..no where to select windows 8.1 i upgraded to..should i select and new hp model dat will av windows 8.1 and download dat graphic driver for mine?
Ok, is your laptop an intel or AMDI? or better yet...whats the name of the display driver you disabled? I will look up your driver for you. By the way it seems like HP does not support windows 8 or 8.1 on that laptop. Thats probably the reason you couldnt find it on their website. But get back with me with the name of your display driver.

3 days ago i turned of my computer and left
it turned of over the night. Then when i
tried to turn it back on again, i get the
windows 8/8.1 boot logo, then when it
dissapears i just get a black screen,
however, i get the windows tone after a
while indicating that the system is running,
and that the only problem is that the screen
is not displaying anything.
I have tried refreshing and doing a system restore that
worked and made it boot n came on. But no matter what i changed
(start-up programs and resolution) nothing
helped. When ever i shut down it wont boot excpet i do system refresh or restore..
I have tried connecting another screen to
my laptop, but that screen also displays the
black color.
I should perhaps mention that my laptop
originally came with Windows 7, but i
upgraded it to Windows 8, and later on 8.1. And have used the windows 8.1 for two weeks now before this proble,
So if any of you got an idea for what might
help, please do tell.
Since you are getting the black screen after POST...it sounds like this issue could be an issue with the image you are currently running. You may have a bad driver or you may have a corrupted image. I am leaning towards a bad driver (display driver). Seeing that you upgraded to Windows 8.1, chances are the driver did not install properly.

I would recommend successfully refreshing your computer and log into windows like you were doing before.
Go into device manager and uninstall and "delete" the device software of your display driver (this should set you back to VGA standard adapter).
Restart your computer.
Log back in and go to your manufacturer's website to look for your display driver for windows 8.1.
Download and install.
Restart and you should be fine.

The possibility of her getting an oil & gas job in the U.S at present is minimal. My candid advice, bring her in ASAP and let her enroll for a Masters degree in geology while you support her. Timely & successful completion of the program will increase her chances greatly.
Wow...I was afraid to get this response, only because I know how true it is. I have tried to explain and reiterate exactly what you just said, to her, but she doesn't get it. Going to school for geology in America, is not really "the future" because America is slowly moving away from being oil dependent.

Well, she is coming this May to attend the OTC event (oil and gas conference). It will be her first time here. I'm not sure if that will open her eyes a little. What I would really like is for her is to change her career a little. Come and study her masters in something different, but not too far from geology. Just something that will give her a better chance in getting a job here.

By the way, thank you. She doesn't know I started this post....but I will definitely send her a screenshot of what you said.

Hello My Nigerians,

So I myself live in America, working for a Hospital in the IT Department. My fiance currently works in an oil and gas service company in Lagos as a Geo-scientist. She currently holds a bachelor degree in Geology from Unizik. Obviously we are working towards marriage and her being with me in America. I need help in where I can get information on how to make this transition a success, whereby she is able to remain in her field when she comes here (Houston is very big in the oil and gas). Or if anyone have gone through the same journey, please share with me your experience. We are in no rush to being married yet...but we want to be doing anything we can do possibly now to prepare ourselves for when the day comes.

Thank you all for any advice and recommendations.
