Jombojombo: With the information you provided, there is no way to not go for the Lenovo. It is clearly the best out of the two. |

Mobuzy: Is this coming up on a Blue Screen? Does it happen specifically when you are doing something? Where there any recent change done to the computer (such as updates, installations, hardware changes)? Sometimes these can be fixed by doing a system restore to an earlier date of when last you noticed your computer working fine. |

iamrichiefola: Hey, so looking at your laptop information, there is a known issue with hibernating your laptop caused by the webcam. The driver currently installed may need to be uninstalled and rolled back to previous driver. G to Start-->Control Panel-->System, go to Hardware tab, hit Device Manager Once inside the Device manager, look for Imaging Devices and expand Right-click on your integrated Web-Camera and go to properties Click on the driver tab Click on Roll Back Driver This should roll back to your previous driver. Usually this problem may have started after a scheduled windows update or forced windows update. Please let us know if this worked or not. Thank you |

iamrichiefola: You should be able to use your keyboard to activate the login screen instead of powering off and powering back on. CTRL + ALT + DEL should do the trick. Pressing the TAB key should allow you to navigate from username to password. However we need more information about your computer to help determine the cause of your issue: Laptop Make and Model? Operating System? 1 Like |

astrosammy: Two things you can try doing here: You can try installing an older driver version of this device AND if that doesn't work, you can update your BIOS to fix issue. The device driver you should be looking for is the chipset driver which is provided by all manufacturers on their website. Some manufacturer also provide BIOS updates via their website as well. 1 Like |

Eleniyan15: Ok well lets give a fresh install a try. Is it possible you can just wipe the drive and reinstall windows 7 again. Sometimes when you do an upgrade and downgrade, some remnants of previous version can cause problems. Doing a clean install is always best. |

Eleniyan15: Re-image means reinstalling the operating system on your computer. Sorry for all my jargon. There is a cooling paste (like toothpaste) that is applied on the heating sink, which helps cool the processor. |

money1st: It looks like something went in your registry and disabled your WSH (windows script host). To renable: Start type in regedit on the search bar click on regedit to open windows registry Follow this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Script Host\Settings In the right panel, you will see Enabled. If you see the entry 0, it means that the Windows Script Host access is disabled on your Windows machine. Double Click on it and give it Value Data 1 to enable it. A value of 1 will enable Windows Script Host A value of 0 will disable Windows Script Host. Click on OK and exit the Registry. If you don’t see this entry, then you may need to create it, as it does not exist by default in Windows. 1 Like |

Eleniyan15: Ok, I would really recommend re-image your computer. That will be your safe option here. Consider backing up your files and re-image; this can save you the troubles of trying to troubleshoot something very complex. Also depending on how old your computer is, you may also consider having a technician (or if you feel comfortable yourself) apply a thermal paste by the fan, to cool the overheating problem down. |
Nairaland / General / Hotel Suggestion for my Wedding in Owerri by cp2dec1: 3:48pm On Dec 28, 2016 |
I am planning on having my wedding in Owerri. I have also decided, due to traffic, to choose a hotel located on portharcourt road. My brother did his wedding in Concorde a few years back and I would love to use a different hotel and possibly better hotel. I am not too familiar with all the hotels on that portharcourt road, however I have decided Immaculate Hotel may be the best for me. So my question is this: I am looking for a very nice hotel and with nice scenery, with very nice rooms, nice halls and customer service. I am also looking for a hotel that has a hall that accommodates at least 500 guests. Also would love to know of a Catholic church we can use (besides Assumpta) that is relatively close to this Hotel. Thank you for your suggestions. |

jessetom: Terrific. I am happy for you..however you still have the bios password issue, which I hope you can eventually fix. Please let me know if you ever get the chance to fix it. |
Computers / Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by cp2dec1: 7:47pm On Jul 05, 2016 |
jessetom: If you have warranty on the laptop...which you may not have because most laptops comes with a 1 year manufacturers warranty, then yes you should call them on the phone. You know...it doesn't hurt trying the battery thing again and leaving it out for a while before reconnecting back. |
Computers / Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by cp2dec1: 4:07pm On Jul 05, 2016 |
jessetom: Hey my friend, I am sorry this did not work. I took it upon myself to do some research regarding your issue for Elitebook 8440P. It seems you are not alone in this issue. Others have tried to do same fix that works in all computers but they are not able to do that with the Elitebook 8440P. I came across a user who actually had to contact HP and was sent a file which he formatted to a HDD to reset the password. I am not sure how else you can fix your problem. |

RomeoMarvis: If you have to keep restarting to get the sound to work...then it may sound like you may have a corrupt user profile. Have you tried creating a new user profile and logging into it and see if the same issue occurs. Please let us know. |

Computers / Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by cp2dec1: 1:18pm On Jul 04, 2016 |
jessetom: Exactly it is the blue round stuff at the top right corner. There is a cable attached to it that is connected...the cable needs to be disconnected and re-connected. You don't necessary have to remove the battery itself. |
Computers / Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by cp2dec1: 2:08am On Jul 04, 2016 |
jessetom: Try resetting the BIOS password...Unfortunately for your type of laptop it requires you do a lot of careful work. Your CMOS battery is located underneath your keyboard. So you will need to remove your keyboard to access the battery Once its done, then you disconnect the cable and leave it disconnected for about a minute. Then connect it back. Once you are back in the BIOS, you can now check and see if the CD drive and USB drives are excluded from startup boot. If so, then you add them to the included startup boot drives. |

noob03saibot: You may have an issue where the devices you are looking for may be disabled in the BIOS. Your BIOS should be able to tell you exactly what all devices were built into your computer. If you do not know how to access your BIOS or how to access the devices menu in your BIOS, provide the make and model of your computer. |

laykside: If this was an upgrade pushed by Microsoft, then you would've been on a Windows 10 32bit system. It looks like you just inserted and installed a Windows 10 64bit OS. The only way to revert back now is to install a fresh copy of windows 8.1 32bit system. OR you can upgrade your RAM to 4gb and stay on Windows 10 64bit |

Dermie: You are lucky if this works...it sounds to me like you may have a bad drive. And if thats the case...then you are pretty much screwed unless you have the time and patient to fix the mechanical pieces in the drive. Which is a waste of time. |

Psalmueldo: 1) Check to see if your computer is actually overheating...try blowing the fan out...check to see if you can update your BIOS as well. You will have to look online to download the latest version of your computer BIOS....You may also have a failing fan that needs replacing...if the PC heats up too much the computer imediately shuts down for safety precaution. 2) Did you purchase the official copy? If so, please see about uninstalling and installing again; and try paying attention to the installation. Sounds to me this may be an unoffical version you have...I have come across a few games that does not have commentary while playing. It's all about the way the game was packaged and uploaded. |

cyif2003: Well, you cant just put any system board into a laptop. You must put the right one or it will not work. I really wished you couldve tried to drain the power first before giving it to a technician. Its always a good thing to just do the basic troubleshooting before going for the extreme. Anyways sha...what is done is done...all you can do is wait for him to get a compatible board for your laptop. |
Computers / Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by cp2dec1: 4:43pm On May 12, 2015 |
martinNO: Well first we need to know if the screen is blank all through Are you getting any display during POST (immediately you power on, you may get the DELL, HP, LENOVO or whatever the manufacturer screen)? If you have an external monitor, try to plug it up and see if you are getting any display? If you are then you know its something wrong with your Laptop monitor. If you are not getting display then its something wrong with your systemboard (if your graphics card is integrated) or something wrong with your video card (if its dedicated). So let us know if you can perform any of those troubleshooting steps 2 Likes |

cyif2003: Sounds like some power issue. You may need to drain power from the systemboard Try removing the battery and unplugging the power supply from the laptop Press the power key 10 times and then hold it down for 10 seconds after and release Then plug the power supply only and try to power on Let us know if it works. 1 Like |
