Charles545:What exactly did you delete? Are you able to still login to windows? We need more details |
Tholley:Realtek is a manufacturer for sound cards and their drivers are usually available on their website...But you need to find out if your computer has a realtek soundcard...it may have a different manufacturer. You may just need a generic driver from microsoft. You just need to run windows update and see if microsoft can detect your sound card. Once you figure that out which manufacturer you have for your soundcard (check your box the laptop came from...look up your product id on the website...you should see a list of what all came with it), then go to their website and download their driver. |
dammygoody:You need a developer laptop it seems. for the price range you listed...you shouldn't have a problem finding a decent one (but then again...if you are in nigeria...the prices are usually inflated for these laptops). You may Not find top of the line as in the year...but you will definitely find top of the line as the brand. I may be biased because I have worked for them...but i'll recommend a Lenovo (preferably a ThinkPad). A T420 or T430. |
profoslan:Hard disk noise is a sure sign of failed hard disk Sorry |
I love traveling back to Nigeria...If I could go every 3 months, that would be great. The atmosphere back at home is always pleasant in contrast to being in America at times. Even going to the village and not having network is a good thing because it takes you away from the whole social network life and brings you much closer to whats around you. What I hate... I hate when the people (based in Nigeria) you grew up with cant make a decent effort to go out there way to come spend time with you. They always want you to come to them. I hate when people (based in Nigeria) tries to find ways to extort money or gifts from you OR even worse steal from you. Why must I have to lock my luggage in my own house? Few other different things I dislike about coming home Nigeria....I'll like to hear you guys take on the issue. |
Maybe its my fault...I typically always get gifts for my extended family and my Dad most importantly. I remember my dad bothered me so much for phones and an iPad at one point. After getting him the iPad...his brother (my uncle), who probably saw my dad using his iPad now sends me messages on whatsapp to get him one. Its like most people in Nigeria dont understand how much things cost...they just demand. The worst experience is a cousin of mine that once asked me to send him 1000 Naira for him to setup a paypal account business thing he wants to do. Is it that bad in Nigeria that you cant find someone in Nigeria to give you 1000 Naira...you want me to spend more money than im sending you to help you out? Overall...I still try to help those that I can help...But i never hesitate to help those that need guidance to get their own. |
priscillawill:Confirm and make sure the headset cable is plugged in properly to the jack At times I notice that when i dont plug the cable all the way into the jack...i get audio from both the speaker and the headset. |
gbadaniyi:Ususally some software will allow you to run it as Windows XP under the compatibility settings Just right click on the software and go to properties and then click on compatibility and select which OS you want to run it under Sometimes it generally works as long as the software in question supports it.... Now to your other question...to install windows xp side by side....I would recommend using virtualization if your system supports it. and also if you have it enabled in your BIOS... Respond to let us which option you want to go with. |
mrvocalprowess:Yes i think you answered your question You may have to look online for the correct drivers to install on your computer to allow it to recognize your device |
perrol:Well, when you say format...do you mean wipe the drive completely blank? or to reinstall an operating system on it? Either way you do not need a cd-rom drive or a cd-rom for that....you can use a flash drive that has an operating system burned in it...OR you can use a flash drive that has a command prompt application loaded on it (if you just want to wipe it completely) and run the fdisk command to wipe it. Let us know which one you are trying to do and we can further help you. |
presh247:Sounds like your cmos battery (the battery that holds power for your bios, which keeps your system date and time) is going bad or has gone bad. When its bad it will default to an old date on the bios and whenever you change your windows date and time...it will always go back to the system date and time found in the BIOS. You may need to have the battery changed....its a fairly simple process to change it...you just need to open up your laptop and locate it. |
deji2009:It's been a pleasure so far...thank you. |
Vyntra:I'm sorry but it seems like you have done a proper troubleshooting and figured its the battery....there's no need trying to fix a bad laptop battery. You should just consider "properly" throwing it away. |
haryomikun:Yes your issue is quite complicated and needs someone who knows their way around the computer (most specifically the registry) to resolve the problem. For fear of messing up your system...you are better off doing what "bigt" suggested by creating a new user account and copying your user folder into the new user account. Running the check disk may fix the problem as well...but i also think this is a registry issue tho. |
Appliedmaths:Well are you choosing the upgrade option when installing? If you are then you may need to just format your current drive option and install a fresh copy of your preferred OS |
Appliedmaths:How are you upgrading to Windows 8? Sounds like you may have a bad image... And why is everyone using windows 8 on here....y'all don't understand how windows 7 is still so much better and stable? |
peleson:Well since this is only happening with the windows 8 machine...you may wanna try the system refresh option. Now this option will remove any programs you may have installed which you will need to reinstall again. But all your personal files and documents will be fine. Thats the only option I have for you now. |
peleson:How far back did you try to go...? Have you tried a different later date than going that far back as you did. |
perrol:The NTLDR error is usually saying you have a bad image. Specifically a bad boot loader file. (boot.ini file) Get a better copy of the image and try again. |
peleson:Now when did you get that error...was it in the course of doing the system restore OR trying to open up the software again? |
peleson:Im sorry but im not sure what else specifically that could be causing the issue. I would recommend utilizing system restore and going back to the last day the software worked for you. Dont be scared of using system restore...as long as you are not going too far back...maybe a week or two weeks |
peleson:It sounds like you may have to uninstall and install the software again. If you are able to do that...please try that. |
peleson:Well, what exactly does it do when you try to open the software? Are you getting any errors? |
Mofetemi:This sounds like a power management issue. Most times manufacturer's image comes with their own power management software that determines when the screen should dim. I'm guessing the F3 function key allows you to wake the computer back up for that laptop. Who manufactured the computer....? Look for any power management software that is installed and edit the settings...or you can disable it and use microsoft's power options tools. Now if this issue just started all of a sudden...then you may need to update your drivers and your bios firmware as well. HP usually house their bios firmware on their website. |
ysquare:Open up your windows update.....it should be one of your available updates If its not then go to this site to download http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download |
tonyxrated:Big display is clear indication of a driver issue. Sounds like your system may have defaulted back to "Standard VGA adapter" But since you are unable to see any display at all...then you may have a bad video card. But do check the beeps you are getting from the manufacurers website. |
johnstar:Are you running the laptop on just battery alone? or is it powered to the wall? (could be poor battery) Are you getting any display on the 10 sec or just a black screen? (if black screen....then it could be somoething wrong with the system board or memory) Need answer...waiting |
kingsley989:Basically one or more of those updates needs to be installed separately. This is a known a issue with windows update. You want to make sure you are not forcing all the windows update to install all-together. Or if you are lucky enough to know which update is causing this issue at that 95%...try and install that update separately. Or, you can try and do those updates in groups of 10-15 so as not to cause them to fail. I know it sucks to do that....but its better than it failing all the time. |
Binael:Yes I would immediately take it to the vendor and have it fixed immediately before your warranty runs out. |
Binael:I totally agree...and i wouldnt bother myself with it if you have other ports that are working. I, myself have the same issue...one of my usb ports damaged while i was changing out a motherboard on my laptop....but im fine with that. |
Binael:If that port is not recognizing any usb device...make sure to try another known good usb device on that port...if the same issue exists...then you really do have a bad port....if its really a big problem for you (from what you said...it sounds you have other ports working as well) then your motherboard needs to be changed. usually the usb ports are attached to the motherboard |
oniex:What kind of documents? If you are referring to Word document...what version of Word do you have? |

brightness will just automatically decrease totally and the cursor will not respond again but immediately I press f3 key, it comes up and the cursor works, and sometimes decreases automatically again. But after persistent press of the f3 key, these two problems will stop. PLEASE, I REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTIONING
