http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/08/21/us-nigeria-bokoharam-idUSBRE97K10N20130821 Boko haram strikes the useless Nigerian security people again. (Reuters) - Islamist sect Boko Haram attacked a police station in northeast Nigeria on Wednesday, killing two officers but losing seven of its members, two local security sources said. The attack came two days after the military said the group's bellicose leader Abubakar Shekau might have died between July 25 and August 4 from gunshot wounds inflicted in a gun battle with security forces. Shekau's alleged death has done little to quell the insurgency but Boko Haram's capabilities appear weakened since President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in northern Nigeria's three worst-affected states and launched an offensive against them in May. The sect wants to impose Islamic law in Nigeria's north, and, alongside other spin-off Islamist groups, has become the biggest threat to stability in Nigeria. "The Boko Haram men opened fire on policemen at the Gwoza Police Station at about 8 a.m. (0700 GMT) today," a local security source told Reuters, confirming the death toll. A senior police officer also confirmed the deaths but asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak. Attacks on police stations and on villages that the militants suspect to be harboring vigilantes have continued this month. More than 30 people died in an assault on the town of Konduga on August 12. Around that time, Shekau -- or someone claiming to be him -- appeared in a video distributed to journalists describing recent attacks in a way that would suggest he was still alive. In its statement on Monday, the military dismissed the video as the work of an impostor. The man in the video, though he has Shekau's trademark beard and finger wagging -- does appear younger and rounder-faced than the Shekau of previous videos. Gwoza is about 135 kilometers away from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state where Boko Haram was formed. Security officials believe the sect has camps in Gwoza, where 11 soldiers on an anti-insurgency operation were killed in June. The insurgency initially subsided in the offensive but there has been an uptick in violence in the past month. Boko Haram's main targets are security forces or government officials. It has also carried out several attacks on Christian and Muslim worshippers, as well as schools and markets. NaijaPikinGidi: Academic materials are not available in South Africa hence South African Universities are going out to recruit foreign students to fill up their beautiful but empty university classrooms!Nothing new. Foreign students are a great source of revenue. Especially those from countries which offer them nothing. See how the UK views your money-making Nigerian-student machine. Good evening Abuja. Assuming that's possible. ![]() http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/news/uk-looks-set-to-benefit-from-nigerian-student-boom/404659.article ____ "UK looks set to benefit from Nigerian student boom 11 DECEMBER 2008 | BY JOHN GILL British Council forecasts enrolments to grow tenfold in just five years. John Gill reports The number of Nigerians studying in the UK is being forecast to increase tenfold in the next five years. The explosion in student numbers, up from just 2,800 last year to 30,000 by 2015, is predicted in new research published by the British Council. Its calculations are based on a number of factors, including the poor quality of Nigerian universities and the rapid growth in the number of families that can afford to send a child overseas to study." |
Msauza: You are stupid because we didn't deny the fact that South Africans smoke marijuana. We just only wanted to prove you wrong that in actual fact Nigerians are as well drug addicts, but due to their economic conditions they settle for less cheap natural drug commonly known as dagga.Indeed. Not only that, as they make more money, they advance in their drug usage. Their own law enforcement agencies admit as much. High egg-bows ![]() ______ The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Akwa Ibom has decried the upsurge in incidences of drug abuse in the society. Mrs. Josephine Obi, the state NDLEA Commander, said this on Thursday during the Anti-Drug Abuse Awareness Seminar organised by Eket Area Command of the agency at Nsit Ubium Local Government. The seminar was organised by the NDLEA in partnership with ExxonMobil Qua Iboe Terminal (QIT), Ibeno. Obi attributed the malaise to unfavourable social conditions and declining moral values that encourages wealth without work. “There is such a great increase in drug abuse and trafficking today due to very unfavourable social conditions and declining moral values which encourage wealth without work,” she said. She said that people turn to drugs either to escape from the realities of the moment or as a means of quick and profitable business that requires little or no investment. She said others who resort to drugs complain of unfavourable social background hence the desire to feel good and live movie-like lifestyle without working for it. “They do not know or close their eyes to the fact that illicit drugs are also a quick road to prison, societal insecurity, ill-health, destruction and death,” Obi said. The commander stressed the need for increased public enlightenment campaign to ensure that the youths know the dangers inherent in drug abuse and illicit trafficking. She said that the aim of the seminar was to ensure that people imbibe the culture of living a drug-free life. “This will in turn ensure healthy, safe and secure society for the benefit of all,” she said. Obi said the agency had put in place arrangement to reach every village, every school, and every home with the drug-free life message on a continual basis. Earlier in his remark, the Eket Area Commander of the NDLEA, Alhaji Toyin Ajanaku, identified drug abuse as the cause of other forms of abuse and crimes in the society. He said that crimes such as terrorism, kidnapping and religious violence cause insecurity in the country and constitute impediments to the progress of Nigeria. Ajanaku listed some tips for community-drug-free society to include, awareness campaign in schools, communities and public places. He commended the management and staff of Exxon Mobil for their contribution to the agency. In a paper he presented at the seminar, Mr. Ome Eyeuche, the Principal Staff Officer, Drug Reduction Unit, NDLEA, Akwa Ibom Command, said that communal laws should be enacted to protect the society from drug abuse. In the paper entitled, ‘Drugs as Agent of other Forms of Abuses,’ Eyeuche said that the threats posed by the consumption of illicit drugs to communities require a multi-disciplinary approach to solving them. He called on the management of schools to encourage their students join drug-free clubs as a way of sensitising school community on the danger of illicit drug use. |
Msauza: That's true, Marijuana is a cheap drug that many Nigerians can afford because it is produced naturally. Once Nigeria starts to industrialise and paying better salaries more Nigerian youth will start experimenting more hard drugs. Hard drugs cost as little as $100 a pill, so do you think poorly paid Nigerians can afford that? That is even equivalent to their monthly salary. The trend is already moving in that direction (as shown above). Well-to-do kids abuse hard drugs. Fact. |
Scun: They say they take cocaine because they have the money, but we hear of addicts robbing and murdering people just to get money for their 'fix'. Hahahaha______ Which serves to confirm the argument. You need money to sustain the habit. Even your Naai-gerian researchers support the argument. _________ "More Nigerian youths are becoming drug addicts, while Nigeria gradually graduates from a drug consuming nation to a drug producing one. Weekly Trust reports Despite efforts being put by Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives towards fighting the menace of illicit drugs production, circulation, marketing and consumption, more people are being recruited daily by drug barons to serve as couriers just as many more, especially youths are increasingly becoming addicted to assorted drugs. In Abuja, the nation’s capital, many youths, mainly from well-to-do homes are increasingly joining the ‘big boys club’ that abuse drugs such as heroin and cocaine. Other form of drugs like Indian hemp, which is commonly produced in Nigeria and others like methamphetamine, syrups and tablets with codeine capable of intoxicating are mostly found in military barracks, schools, motor parks and even with local traders that sell provisions in kiosks." |
Scun: Even the 'cheap' maurijuana a.k.a. Dagga in South Africa is so common, they are thinking of legalising it.Seeing as you want to use words like "common", I quote: "Other form of drugs like Indian hemp, which is commonly produced in Nigeria and others like methamphetamine, syrups and tablets with codeine capable of intoxicating are mostly found in military barracks, schools, motor parks and even with local traders that sell provisions in kiosks." ____ Wake up! http://news2.onlinenigeria.com/news/top-stories/144286-drug-use-on-the-rise-among-nigerian-youths.html |
Scun: what percentage of those young adults in Nigeria is involved? Is it comparable to that of South Africa? Even though Maurijuana is as cheap as hell you still wouldn't find as much Nigerians addicted to it as South Africans addicted to expensive cocaine. Your people are condemned to drugs.Stop fishing for weak arguments. Here's another finding about your drug usage. Read it and be happy. Those that aren't broke abuse hard drugs. http://news2.onlinenigeria.com/news/top-stories/144286-drug-use-on-the-rise-among-nigerian-youths.html More Nigerian youths are becoming drug addicts, while Nigeria gradually graduates from a drug consuming nation to a drug producing one. Scun: Absolute balderdash, a lot of Nigerians can afford to buy those drugs, if it was a priority to them. Nigerians aren't drug addicts. Find a solution to your drug addiction problems instead of bringing stupid excuses to the table.Really? They can afford the drugs? So, why do they abuse Marijuana instead, then? http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/young-adults-highest-users-of-marijuana-others-in-nigeria-poll/ "The results from the poll revealed that almost 9 in 10 Nigerians (90%) believe the highest abusers of drugs and substance are teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 29 years old.It also found that the most abused substance in Nigeria is marijuana."

Will Barker, managing director of Sunbird Energy, an Australian oil and gas firm, told a meeting of the Cape Chamber of Commerce that the company was investing in South Africa because gas would play an increasingly important role in the country’s energy mix.

@Playmode being honest. ___ Thank you all for your input. It is not my intention to offend anyone or to belittle Nigeria. I am very passionate about my homeland that is why i am here. I don't have any worry in the world as i live comfortably in SA and get the opportunity to tour southern Africa on business trips. I can choose to ignore the situation in Nigeria but i was not brought up that way. I am a patriotic Nigerian and no matter how beautiful and comfortable SA is , I will always love my country, that is why i am criticizing it. I am actually jealous of SA,I don’t see any reason why Nigeria should not be more developed than SA. Everyday I see how ordinary South Africans insult Niegria in my presence and call it a ghetto, how do you think that makes me feel. I can hardly defend Nigeria because truth be told ,Nigeria sucks big time especially in 2011 when all this so called 3rd countries have evolved. I have read a lot of comments here , some of them make sense while some are just blind patriotism. I disagree with some of you who feel that it is because these countries have whites that they are doing well. That is an inferiority complex mentality. Are you saying we black people are so dumb ,we can’t rule ourselves? We don’t need white people to have a disciplined and developed country. Is there a white person in Fashola’s cabinet ? No! It ia all about true patriotism , honesty ,discipline and the love of the people and the land. Fashola chose to lead the right way,no white person influenced him to do so,it was his personal decision. How come the UAE is developing it’s skyline at a rapid rate? The sheik makes the decisions and he is ARAB. Nigeria and the UAE get roughly the same income from oil , how come they are light years ahead of us. Nigeria is the way it not because we don’t have white people but because we have moronic baboons as leaders. Jonathief is a scam artist and he won’t have achieved anything by 2015.MARK MY WORDS.I still don’t know why many of you make excuses for him ,he has been in Government for close to 5 years, what has his impact being? Zero ,Zilch! This is the same man whose wife was arrested by the Efcc with briefcases full of dollars at the airport ,what happened to that case? NADA! We as Nigerians are selfish and corrupt that is why we can accept Jonathief as a messiah when we all know deep down in our hearts that he is a P I M P styled criminal who should be shot at the stake for treason against the federal republic of Nigeria alongside his pals ,babangida and atiku. Very soon you will see babangida at jonathief’s side smiling all the way. We are being dribbled by the PDP hence I have nicknamed “oga jonathan” aka “Lionie Messi”! Time will prove me right, Jonathief is too corrupt to prove me wrong. I expect the worst leadership from him in the next 4 years. More white elephant projects and more embezzlement which is the legacy of the Peoples deceiving party. With a population of 150 million and a military force less than 1 million ,how can we be so scared to take the Government head on. How many people are the soldiers going to shoot. Imagine we start a mass rally in every state and everybody refuses to go to work. We mobilize on the street and block the roads ,all of us together rich and poor ,young and old and we demand that the PDP step down. We also use social media like facebook and twitter to voice our frustration to the world. Jonathief and his cronies will bolt in to exile. We can do it ,we are just to selfish to do it. Remember Fela’s song : “I no want die ,I get 2 child ,I 4 wives,I get one mother” Na Policeman go slap your face myou no go talk,Army man go whip you yansh you go dey look like donkey” We have to change our mindset and make the Government ,The Army and The police fear the people of Nigeria. I know many of you at this point will say why i am not doing it myself. Trust me I have started mobilizing my peers especially those in SA,I am planning on going back and causing a lot of trouble for the government and by trouble I mean mass rallies going to mobilize the university students, I was a student of LASU and I have still some rep there. It takes one person to start. I have already paid a website designer to build me a blog and a political website where I will make video speeches and motivate the youths to cause sever civil disobedience. I am also planning on starting a movement that will be geared towards youth revolution. This movement will also double as a political party. When the time is right , I will reveal my identity and damn the consequences. On my political website , I will challenge Jonathan to face me in a video debate that other Nigerians can tune in to. I know Jonathief has no idea on how to run a country and I will floor him within a few minutes into the debate. All he know is how to share the loot.Having studied him in his interview with Aisha Sesea of CNN ,I realised that this i.d.i.o.t is extremely clueless about what he has to do to move Nigeria forward. All he is good at doing is making empty promises without having any solid plans or strategy to back them up. A guy as cluless as jonathief cannot even win a legislative seat in the USA talkless of being president. I left Nigeria to become successful , I have already achieved that ,now I have to move on the next phase in my life which is freeing my people from modern day slavery. I know i might get killed in the process but I hope that by the time I die I would have sparked an unstoppable revolution that will bring about the kind of change currently experienced in Ghana. I built my business empire from scratch with a mere $1000 because I am a go getter I don’t believe in luck. Luck is for lazy people. I also don’t believe in “GOD will save us” ,I belive in “God only helps those who help themselves”. If we don’t boot out the PDP we are in for another 4 years of slavery. Another thing I don’t like is when Nigerians try to compare Nigeria to worse off countries like Cameroon. Why are you doing that ? Do you envy Cameroon? It is like someone who has cancer saying that he is better than someone with HIV! You should be comparing Nigeria to SA.SA is an African Gem and generate less daily income than Nigeria but the country is solid like any western country. Do you know that SA beats UK hands down in terms of infrastructure and skyline beauty? Uk has predominantly gothic styled buildings while SA has modern styled buildings. Nigeria has been independent for 50 Zap.i.ng years. We moved from being the GIANT of Africa to being the dwarf of Africa in 2 decades. I was doing an investment opportunities research on Eritrea recently and I was shocked to see how clean and infrastructural sound the country was. Google Eritrea images, you will be shocked. With all the money we make in Nigeria , Nigeria is still flipping dirty and the air smells bad. I don’t see Nigeria as a 3rd world country because 3rd world countries are Philippines ,South Africa , Vietnam ,Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia e.t.c Nigeria on the other and can be referred to as a 4th world country especially when you compare it’s current infrastructure ,education standards, citizens social welfare and medical facilities to those countries. Do you know that the Nigerian property market is crap? Let me elaborate. I was planning on buying land in lekki and building a home but was discouraged when the agent told me that the land was N15 million. I was like , what d pfuck,N15 mill for a flimsy piece of land .N15 million can buy you a full house in an upmarket suburb in SA. That is ridiculous! Properties in Lagos, Nigeria are ridiculously overpriced and to make matters worse 90% of these properties are poorly built with substandard materials. If you look at homes in lekki ikoyi and VI, some of them have outer walls that are not straight, the pillars are usually bent slightly and the doors are always fitted in a rough manner not to mention poorly planned drainage systems. This same crappy house will be priced at N100 million .The annoying thing is that they are even selling ugly SEMI detached duplexes in Nigeria for N100 mill which is equal to R5 million rands(south African currency). Why the Zap will I want to buy a SEMI for N100 million when I can buy a full mansion in an exclusive Golf Estate in SA for less than that? Now let me show you what type of house you will buy in Johannesburg for just N60 Million Naira(R3 Million Rands) including furniture and this is just the asking price. Just take a look at the pics below: |

If you didn’t know about Beverly and Angelo’s relationship, where have you been? Never mind we will keep you updated. Few weeks back, the two Big Brother Africa: The Chase housemates started a relationship and ever since then, they have been giving viewers a whole lot of PDA. Yesterday Sunday 18th August 2013, the South African contestant was evicted from the competition. After the live eviction, cameras followed Beverly heading up the stairs into the bedroom. She cried under the sheets. Later, the 21 year old Nigerian model got up and packed Angelo’s clothes, and ironed his South African flag. The model wasn’t happy as two of her closest male friends in the house Angelo and Bimp from Ethopia were evicted. Her fellow Nigerian housemate Melvin later came to console her. “You still have me. You will be fine. I will still be here for you”, he says. He also offered his bed to her, “My bed is the biggest the House. You can share it with me.” Watch the video |
