Just wondering why my blodas keep disgracing us every day. The 2023 election is gone and dusted. Why are we still living in the euphoria of past mistakes and unnecessary stupidity when we should be strategically planning how to win the next election?

Honestly, I believe the South-East votes alone, even with support from a few other states, may not be enough. And as for winning states in the South-West, I sincerely doubt the prospect is getting any brighter, especially considering the daily display of hostility and insults from some of my Eastern blodas and sisters who live and make their livelihoods in Yoruba states, yet spend every day abusing the very people whose political support we may eventually need.

Let us be realistic: courtesy of this unnecessary ethnic hostility and online abuse, the prospect of Peter Obi winning any South-West state may even be slimmer than it was in 2023.

Then we move to the North. Peter Obi may possibly win one or two states, but even that is far from certain. Atiku and Tinubu both have long-standing political structures, relationships and networks across the North. Religion, ethnicity, political alliances and the influence of traditional and religious leaders also play significant roles in voting decisions in many parts of the region.

So, instead of daydreaming about an inglorious past and endlessly arguing about 2023, shouldn't we be asking ourselves some serious questions?

How do we build bridges?
How do we win new supporters?
How do we stop insulting people whose votes we desperately need?
How do we build political structures beyond social media?
How do we convince the South-West, the North and other regions that our candidate represents their interests too?

Politics is not won by insults, ethnic superiority, social-media noise or constantly reminding everyone about what happened in the last election.

If we genuinely want Peter Obi, or any candidate we believe in to win the next election, then we need strategy, political maturity, alliances, grassroots structures and, most importantly, the ability to win the hearts of people outside our immediate ethnic and political comfort zones.

You cannot insult people every day and expect them to wake up on election day and vote for your candidate.

The reason I fear the Peter Obi/Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket is the religious extremism of Former Kano state governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

In case a lot of people do not remember, Kano state operates Sharia law and that law was signed in June 2000. The governor of Kano who signed that is Kwankwaso and he is not appologethic about it. This suggests that he also supports blasphemy laws and to some level, Islamic extremism.
