What's difficult in understanding that the freed teacher didn't contradict government in anyway?

Government pressured the kidnappers to free the victims. After they released the victims, common sense would tell you that the soldiers who already surrounded the place would not just walk away. They'll attempt to arrest the terrorists. During that attempt, there'll be a shoot out, and of course, there was one in which a soldier died. But eventually, arrests were made.

To the victims, the situation would look as though they were released. But to the government and the soldiers, they were rescued. Government pressures and might were major factors that led to their release, otherwise, the story would have been different.

It is a shame on Atiku if he expects to be spoonfed with such details as this. Some people, and infact, many people just have low IQ.

The death toll from the road crash involving pupils of King David Junior School along the Kaserem section of the Kapchorwa–Mbale Road in eastern Uganda has risen to 24 after three more pupils died while receiving treatment.

The Uganda Police Force confirmed the latest casualty figure in a press statement posted on X on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, SP Michael Kananura.

Kananura said 18 of the victims had been positively identified, while three unidentified bodies were at Kapchorwa Hospital and another three at Mbale Hospital.

He added that 23 victims remained on admission at Kapchorwa Hospital receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.

According to him, all surviving pupils who did not require hospitalisation had safely returned to Kampala aboard a Gateway Bus.

Kananura said the driver of the bus involved in the crash had yet to be formally identified but was believed to have sustained critical injuries and was among those receiving treatment in Mbale.

He explained that the school excursion left Kampala at about 5 a.m. with two buses and two taxis, adding that the other vehicles, which were not involved in the accident, safely returned to Kampala with all their occupants.

According to him, the suspension is aimed at allowing a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding recent crashes involving schoolchildren, strengthening safety guidelines for school excursions and conducting nationwide road safety sensitisation for schools, transport providers, teachers and other stakeholders.

He also stated that all school groups currently on educational trips had been directed to report immediately to the nearest police station, where officers would provide escorts where necessary to ensure their safe return.

“The Uganda Police Force, working closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports and other stakeholders, extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the pupils, staff of King David Junior School, and the entire school community during this difficult time,” Kananura said.

He added, “Further updates, including the findings of the ongoing investigations and the revised safety guidelines for school transportation and educational trips, will be communicated in due course.”

The latest development comes after police had earlier confirmed 21 fatalities in the crash before the death toll increased following the deaths of three injured pupils in hospital.
