Politics / Reason Why Nigeria Economy Went Into Recession by crudeoilagent: 7:08pm On Aug 25, 2016 |
I still find it funny that most people don't know why Nigeria economy went into recession, they love the incompetent lies of Lai Mohammed about the past government ruining everything. It's also myopic to think that if Jonathan were to still be in power, we would be worse off. The truth about Nigeria's recession is this; it was caused by the president's unguided rhetoric and uncultured body language. Firstly, there is nothing we are buying today that we weren't buying 5 years ago, therefore it's not our purchase that put pressure on Naira but withdrawal of funds by foreign investors. After the election, the president created instability with his unguided statements about how everyone is corrupt and how everyone is going to jail. The instability made foreign investors to liquidate their investment and change their money to dollars. In the process of trying to flee, they were willing to buy dollars at any price, which lead to high exchange dollar rate. Even though some of them were not ready to run away, but want their money in dollars to save their investments from devaluation, the president gave a bad signal by banning deposit of foreign currency into dormiciliary accounts. That was enough for free market believers to see the draconian handwriting on the wall, that was the beginning of dollar rush. To make matters worse, the president came up with another outrageous policy of rationing dollar to certain sectors and blocking many sectors out. That was the nail in the coffin which facilitated the emergence of free FALL. In the end, foreign investors took over $80B out of the economy within a short period and everything went down to free fall. To those who believe it will be worse if Jonathan is still there, you are all wrong. Policy continuity and political stability will not let billions of dollars leave our shores within such tiny time frame. Even though the government might have income shortage, the private sector will weather the storm by their confidence in the market. The fear of the unknown created by PMB is responsible for the economic downturn not low oil price. Interest rate in America is currently at 0.5% while it is 12% in Nigeria. JP Morgan Chase will not mind borrowing $50 billion from Feds at 0.5 and put in Nigeria for return of %2000 profit. Citi bank will do the same, likewise US Bank Corp. Chase gave Buhari warning about the repercussions of his fixing policy before they pulled out, but his illiterate cyber warriors and misseducated e-soldiers said JPMORGAN can go to hell, they no longer believe in economic metrics since their messiah is in charge. Funny enough they are all suffering today because of the stupid policy, but they find relief by blaming it on past administration and Gucci appetite of average Nigerians. For your information, if your president "kontunu" with his unguided rhetoric, Naira will go down to N1000/1 $. But we thank God, he is not longer talking. ~ Chinomso Awazie (Writes) Copied! Politics / Dear Aisha Buhari, Please Imitate The 'jonathan Exile' Example by crudeoilagent: 11:26am On Jun 23, 2016 |
Aisha Buhari should visit USA - Euphemia Udanoh Editor’s note: President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife Aisha has become involved in a quarrel with an opposition Governor Ayo Fayose over corruption allegations. After his accusations some Nigerians call on Mrs. Buhari to prove her innocence and to visit the USA. During Buhari’s several trips to America his wife never accompanied him. Euphemia Udanoh in this piece calls on Buhari’s wife to follow the example of the immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan. As the wife of Nigeria’s president and the country’s first lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari is embroiled in a hot scandal concerning her alleged role in the Halliburton bribery scandal that took down a US congressman, William Jefferson. Well, the best way to deal with false accusation of any kind is to just prove them wrong. Trading insults won’t work. Take a cue from former president Goodluck Jonathan. News floated into Nigeria that the global statesman had run away to Cote d’Ivoire on self-exile to avoid being arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. What did Dr. Jonathan do? He directly denied the allegation. Then, he came back home to Nigeria to prove that he wasn’t running from anything. He even went to Aso Rock and met with Aisha’s husband, President Muhammadu Buhari. Sources say that Buhari pleaded with Jonathan to help him resolve the renewed restiveness in the Niger Delta. Guess what? The rumour died a natural death. Today, Mrs. Aisha Buhari is being accused of being the same Aisha Buhari named in United States government court documents as playing a role in passing around bribes convicted and jailed former US lawmaker. And by virtue of the American law enforcement records, she is wanted in the United States, along with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and others mentioned in the corruption scandal. What does she need to do? Simple get on a plane and land in the United States, announce her arrival, fly around and move around freely. Given that her husband’s government is one of photography, take a lot of photos of herself at the White House and all over Washington DC meeting with women and leaders in the country. Mrs. Buhari could also throw in a bomb and pay a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and lament how she was impersonated in the Halliburton scandal and urge them to put in more effort in catching the ‘fake Aisha Buhari’. READ ALSO: Fayose is a mad dog – Aisha Buhari Finally, Aisha Buhari should get and an airplane and make a triumphant return. That way, she doesn’t need to get on Twitter and call anybody a mad dog… The rumour will die a natural death. This is a simple problem and it has a simple solution. Insult-filled press releases won’t do. No matter how many insults Buhari’s media aides concoct and throw at Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, this problem won’t go away. Fayose didn’t start this. She was named way back in 2006 by the US’s Federal Bureau of Investigation. Madam, please don’t complicate something so simple. 1 Like |

I did not vote for him cos I anticipated what is happening now. I could smell disaster right from when he was contesting. I knew he had nothing to offer us. He had nothing to lose. He is a grandfather so why should he care about our suffering. I only pity the unborn generation of those who support this present govt. Doom awaits. |
Politics / Fayose Exposes Aisha Buhari's Role In Jefferson Bribery Scandal by crudeoilagent: 10:51am On Jun 21, 2016 |
– Governor Ayodele Fayose has spoken out again
regarding Aisha Buhari’s role in a bribery scandal – The Ekiti state governor distributed a link to US Justice department showing evidence of funds transfered by Aisha Buhari – Fayose claims that Buhari is as corrupt as those he is witch-hunting Fayose relived the controversy on Monday, June 20, stressing the role played by Buhari’s wife, in the messy bribery scandal involving Williams Jefferson, a US Congressman. Governor Fayose says President Buhari is a corrupt man. The Ekiti state governor distributed a link to the US Department of Justice’s website holding court documents where Aisha Buhari was alleged to have transferred suspicious funds to a convicted former American congressman, Williams Jefferson. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said President Buhari was far from being a clean man. “Even the President cannot claim to be an angel,” the governor said, in reaction to the freezing of his Zenith Bank account by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. “The estate he built in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted over the Halliburton Scandal (sic). When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of the sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialize the judgment for people to see and read.” The governor’s Special Assistant on New Media, Lere Olayinka, later circulated links to and copies of the court document detailing Mrs Buhari’s mention in the scandal. The documents showed that in some of the exhibits tendered in convicting Mr. Jefferson of bribery, Mrs. Buhari was mentioned as transferring $170,000 to the American politician using a firm as proxy. “Government Exhibits 36-87 (6/26/02 $170,000 wire transfer from account in Nigeria in the name of Aisha Buhari to an account in the name of The ANJ Group, LLC, identifying “William Jefferson” as Beneficiary),” the US Government Sentencing Memorandum said on page 22. Aisha Buhari could not be reached for comments. And Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, declined comments, saying he would need to check the documents himself before issuing an official statement. Fayose’s comment sparked a recollection of how Mr Jefferson, between 2000 and 2005, used his position as member of the U.S. House of Representatives to offer illegal services to private companies for cash rewards. Premium Times reports that Jefferson and his family, according to US authorities, received about $367,500 through through his firm, ANJ Group, for services rendered to iGate, an American broadband technology provider. An indigenous firm, Netlink Digital Television, had signed a joint venture with iGate to set up digital satellite TV and broadband Internet services in the country. NDTV was owned by Oyewole Fasawe, a PDP chieftain at the time. Mr. Jefferson was contracted to help promote iGate and NDTV partnership in Nigeria. Following a lengthy trial, Mr. Jefferson was convicted in 2009 and sentenced to 13 years in prison. Although Mr. Fasawe was arrested in 2005 by the EFCC, he was never convicted. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar were also said to be a person of interest in the allegations. A final report released by the EFCC on June 22, 2006 about the bribery scandal also contained Mrs. Buhari’s Citizens Bank account statements and how she transferred funds to Mr. Jefferson. A 2007 New York Times’ article detailed how Mrs. Buhari told an acquaintance in Washington that she was a daughter of a former Nigerian head of state and a friend of Mr. Jefferson. “As the pair struck up a conversation and subsequently became friends, Mr. Assiba, then a security guard, said she told him that her father was the former military ruler of Nigeria, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, and that her American friends included politicians like Mr. Jefferson of Louisiana.” Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has frozen the personal account of Governor Ayodele Fayose. A source was also said to have disclosed that the governor’s account in Zenith Bank in Ekiti as well as those of some of his associates were also frozen by the anti-graft agency. After visiting the bank at Onigari, GRA area of the state capital, Fayose described the action as illegal and while citing section 308 of the 1999 constitution, the governor stated that the federal government should fight corruption within the ambit of the law, since he enjoys immunity as a sitting governor. He said: “I got mind of the fact that the EFCC had placed restriction order on my personal account and that of my associates. I came here today and I have been able to see it. This action shows that this government has no respect for the constitution because I enjoy immunity under Section 308. “ I support government fighting corruption, but it has to be within the ambit of the law . You can investigate me, it is their right, but they have to wait till 2018, because I will be done by then. They should not be in a hurry because I will personally come to them for investigation.” In reaction to Fayose’s comments, the EFCC has said that immunity does not stop the commission from investigating suspicious account belonging to any governor. The anti-graft agency was reacting to the claim that Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state cannot be investigated because of immunity currently being enjoyed by him. Speaking to Vanguard, Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman for the EFCC, said the immunity being enjoyed by any governor does not prevent the commission from investigating suspicious movements of money into their accounts. Fayose has lamented the undue interference in the internal affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the government and security agents. Speaking shortly after a meeting held by the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) with governors and the Makarfi- led caretaker committee in Abuja on Thursday, June 16, Fayose alleged that there was a strategic effort to destroy the PDP in Nigeria. The governor however expressed confidence that the leadership crises currently rocking the party will soon be over. |
Politics / Subsidy Removal: Buhari, APC Owe Jonathan Apology, Says Lawmaker by crudeoilagent: 7:33am On May 15, 2016 |
For inciting protests against the removal of fuel subsidy in 2012 on the grounds that it was an anti-people policy, and now turning around to remove the same subsidy, President Muhammadu Buhari and the members of the All Progressives Congress have been told that they owe former President Goodluck Jonathan an apology. This is the position of the lawmaker representing Ukwa Federal Constituency of Abia state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (PDP), who accused Buhari of having taken a destructive position in 2012 without reasoning and economic analysis. Abonta however expressed his support for the removal, but called for a total deregulation of the sector, passage and implementation of the Petroleum Industry Bill. Several members of the opposition party have already berated the Buhari administration for campaigning with promises that he would not increase the price of fuel, and not keeping the promise. Speaking with THISDAY, Abonta also accused the seventh House of Representatives of playing the script of those who wanted Jonathan to fail with the resolution against the removal in 2012. “They occupied Nigeria in 2012. What changed between 2012 and now causing the increase? That means they were ignorant and lacked political reasoning. The criticized Jonathan out of trying to condemn him. Those who surround him (Buhari) misled Nigerians using the Labour movement. Lai Mohammed was one of those who occupied Nigeria. What would he say now?” Abonta said. “I hope the eighth assembly would do the right thing and let the removal stay, although those at the helm now all canvassed against it, now they should tell Nigerians sorry,” he added. Abonta, who is also the Chairman of the Committee on Public Petitions, advised that the money saved from the removal of subsidy should be invested through a clear economic agenda, which he noted the current government lacks. He urged Buhari to consult those who ran the economy under President Jonathan, particularly Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, whose polices managed to keep the dollar at N160 for several years. 1 Like |

Buhari And Jonathan, At A Glance. FACT IS FACT. 1] Jonathan sold Petrol at N87 while Buhari is selling at average of N300 & above, yet Buhari supporters think Jonathan was more corrupt and wasteful. 2] When Jonathan Budgeted N1bn for feeding in Aso-Rock in 2011, and N517m in 2015, APC cried wolf and now Buhari's budget for same is N1.7billion. Yet Buharists are mute and still think GEJ was more corrupt and wasteful. 3] Jonathan spent N1.4bn to service all presidential jets in one year while Buhari spends N6bn on same in 6month yet Buharists think GEJ was more corrupt and wasteful. 4] Jonathan gave more funding to education while Buhari's 2016 budget favours Ministry of information more than education yet Buharists think GEJ was more corrupt/wasteful. 5] Jonathan spent an average of N8million on each international trip while Buhari spends an average of N55million on each international trip, yet Buharists think GEJ was more corrupt and wasteful. 6] Jonathan created Over 5.8millon jobs in 5yrs while buhari has sacked over 2million workers in 8months. Check Federal Bureau of Statistics. 7] Jonathan made Nigeria's economy the best in Africa and No 1 investment destination & quadrupled our GDP in 4yrs while Buhari has dragged Nigeria's economy down to 14th position in ranking in just 7months. 8] Jonathan left Naira exchange rate @ N185 to $1 but Buhari with his Adama and Eve economics has destroyed the Naira in just 8 months which now sells at N315 to $1. 9] It took Jonathan less than 2weeks to select his cabinet including foreign based technocrats while it took Buhari 6months to do same. Even with indicted people and no single economist among the 36 names. 10] Buhari claimed that subsidy was fraud (Who is subsidizing who@) but buhari has spent N1.2trillion on fuel subsidy in the last 5 months and still no fuel while all Buharists have suddenly gone dumb. 11] Buhari/APC accused Jonathan of corruption but have not been able to pin one stain on him, while Muhammadu Buhari himself followed the crowd that entered into the # DasukiGate . 12] Under Jonathan freedom and liberty of Nigerians was not determined by party affiliation, but today under Buhari his perceived enemies and political opponents are leveled with frivolous allegations of crimes and intimidated with either the EFCC or the DSS. 13] Buhari does not have an Honorary WAEC but bags an illegal Honorary (Ph.D) from a university that have no PhD student and Not approved by NUC and yet Buharists respect his NEPA Bill more than GEJ's PhD. 14. Buhari used his secondary school principal's recommendation letter to become Military Head of State and again used Court Affidavit to become President and no one reminded him that these are the height of corruption. He Refused to declare his assets public, suppressing the FOI and denied all his 81 election promises and stayed in the last 8 months blaming former leaders. Jonathan was in that position, he never complained or blamed anyone, but faced his work even when Buhari's disgruntled brother ensured that Nigeria will know no peace. - Hope For Nigeria..... Politics / Bola Tinubu - "Why I Collected N9million From Dasuki" by crudeoilagent: 3:11pm On Jan 22, 2016 |
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC,
and owner of the Nation Newspaper, Bola Tinubu, has
returned his own share of the N9 million received from the
Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, through the
Newspaper Proprietor Association of Nigeria, NPAN.
This is coming after the Sun Newspaper also surrendered
its own share to the Federal Government and as the Punch
Newspaper also suspended its membership from the
association following its involvement in the arms scandal.
Recall that investigations from the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission, EFCC, had traced a suspicious transfer
of funds from the former NSA, Sambo Dasuki to Newspaper
outlets including Tinubu’s own Nation Newspaper.
Obviously embarrassed by the trend of events following the
arms scandal, Tinubu may have pressed on his company
directors to file an explanation and immediately return his
own share of N9 million received. “We are again compelled to comment on the N9 million received by Vintage Press Limited as compensation from the government of ex- President Goodluck Jonathan through the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) for the seizure of our publications, The Nation and Sporting Life in June, 2014. “We do this for two reasons. First, to restate the sequence of events that culminated in the payment , thereby debunking insinuations about the motive for the compensation. Second, to inform the public that the N9 million collected from NPAN on behalf of the Jonathan government has been returned to the association . “This decision was arrived at on Wednesday by the Board and Management of Vintage Press Limited after a painstaking examination of the legal and moral issues arising from the compensation.” citigist..com.ng/2016/01/bola-tinubu-why-i-collected-n9million.html?m=1 |

Politics / EU Calls For Biafra Referendum Within 90 Days-says It Will Recognize Biafra by crudeoilagent: 6:27am On Jan 21, 2016 |
The European Union has supported a Referendum for Biafra, and has called for such referendum to be carried out within 90 Days. EU says it will only recognize Biafra born out of international Law through the Referendum and not armed rebellion. They also called on Nigeria to release all political prisoners, and for Nigeria to respect Human Rights of all citizens and to withdraw from using the military to crack down on demonstrators. The EU said that while it has strong ties with Nigeria, “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such right. Federica Mogherini, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security has replied Biafra agitators and the Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS) over their call for a referendum. The OEAS had earlier requested that the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security utilizes their good office to help bring about a referendum for Biafra’s independence. The OEAS also called for release of all Biafran political prisoners, a stand down of Nigerian forces, and a snap referendum to be held within 90 days. In response to their request, Mogherini replied Dr., Jonathan Levy, OEAS Chief Administrative Officer, stressing that, the European Union’s official position is that while it has strong diplomatic and economic ties with Nigeria, “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such rights.” The EU went on to advise the OEAS and Biafrans that self-determination and border changes must be in accordance with established international law. The OEAS has called for an internationally recognized referendum on Biafra independence or autonomy. The EU has indicated it will only recognize a Biafra born via international law and not armed secession. To achieve a referendum, the OEAS advises all nonviolent means should be utilized including general strikes, economic boycotts, work actions, demonstrations, lawsuits, and civil disobedience. Nigeria is a member of The International Labor Organization (ILO). The ILO recognizes the right to engage in general strikes and the right to strike is also recognized in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 (Article 8(1) (d)). www.africabusinessworld.com/eu-calls-for-biafra-referendum-within-90-days-says-it-will-recognize-biafra-if-referendum-passes/2016/01/19/ 1 Like |

I am not a prophet of doom but if things continue this way we are headed straight to a trailer which ll show no mercy in crushing us like cockroach.
