This is absolutely true. I remember a time when I was seeking a salary job and I was to present my CV and some other details. I never knew who the recruitment officer was before then. So when I presented everything required including my CV, the recruitment officer called me into her office and she told me somerhing which I will quote here. She said "your CV cannot get you this job" I boldly asked her to help me with the don'ts and wrongs in my CV and she gave me the beat template I used in securing a web3 job that paid well (at that time). Note: your CV is your weapon to conquer job search. |

Search.com has entered the race to acquire Google Chrome, topping Perplexity AI’s $34.5 billion bid with a $35 billion counteroffer backed by JPMorgan Chase and a consortium of private equity firms. The $500 million move intensifies a high-stakes battle over the future of web browsing and AI search, as more challengers position themselves to take control of the world’s most-used browser. “We see this as both offense and defense,” Melissa Anderson, president of Public Good, which owns Search.com, told Decrypt. “Acquiring Chrome gives us the scale to accelerate adoption of our AI search platform—and a direct connection to users.” The U.S. Department of Justice sued Google in 2020, alleging it illegally dominates search and advertising. In April, a federal court ruled Google had monopolized the digital ad market. Chrome accounts for about 65% of global browser use, but a March 2025 Wharton report estimated Google’s control of search traffic at nearly 90%. On Tuesday, Perplexity AI submitted its $34.5 billion proposal, positioning the deal as a way to preserve an open-source web and counter Big Tech’s grip on browser infrastructure. Unnamed institutional investors back that offer. Both Search.com and Perplexity are framing their bids as remedies to that dominance. For Search.com, however, the acquisition is about more than infrastructure—it’s about access. “Google and Bing control the lion’s share of search,” Danny Bibi, CEO of Public Good’s parent company Ad.com, added. “For us to catapult growth and provide true incremental traffic, Chrome is the access point. That’s the gateway.” Search.com is a division of Public Good, itself owned by ad.com, a digital ad network founded in 1993. The company estimates it brings in $300 million to $400 million annually through advertising, and believes owning Chrome could push that into the billions. Search.com’s bid matches the structure of Perplexity’s offer—including Chrome’s codebase, trademarks, infrastructure, and user data—but adds user-focused perks: ad-free browsing, cashback for searches, and a 60% revenue-share model for publishers. “It’s part of our commitment to ethical AI—we’re not scraping content without compensation,” Anderson said. “We want to support journalism, and we offer a 60% ad revenue share to the publishers who contribute content.” AI Arms Race Comes to the Browser The bids land as AI features become key features in the browser market. Microsoft has added Copilot Mode to Edge. Brave includes the Leo assistant. Opera runs on Google’s Gemini and is testing a next-gen browser called Neon. An OpenAI-built browser is rumored to be in development. Search.com, which unveiled a generative AI platform earlier this month, says Chrome would serve as the backbone for what it calls “a platform built for public interest, not just profit.” “Everyone should have free, equitable access to knowledge,” Anderson said. “We want to deliver that while keeping publishers paid and consumers in control.” Google has not publicly responded to either proposal. According to Anderson and Abibi, the company has received Search.com’s offer. With two competing bids on the table, the future of Chrome—and the role of AI in the browser space—is now firmly in play. “We’ve put a stake in the ground,” Abibi said. “It’s now up to them.” Perplexity did not respond to Decrypt’s request for comment. Chiwetalu Agu: Prophet Abel Boma Shares Prophecy About Actor’s Health, Offers Medical Assistance A prophecy about Nollywood veteran Chiwetalu Agu, recently shared by Prophet Abel Boma in a video on Tuesday, August 12, has sparked much conversation. In the video, Prophet Boma stated that God had no hand in the actor's 'weakness,' adding that he had received a go-ahead to assist the actor. Prophet Boma, who urged Chiwetalu Agu to reach out to him, said he would recommend a doctor for the actor and also cover the medical costs. The prophecy also included a message about the actor's son. "The Lord is saying your weakness is not from Him. If anything happens to you, God says He is not aware. Call your son and anoint him with honey. Your son shall be greater than you. Come, let me recommend a doctor for you, and I will pay the bills. It is not because you are a superstar; it is because the hands of your enemies want to oppress you. God said I can help. In three weeks, supernatural strength will come. I am doing this because I love you," Prophet Abel Boma said.

Key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have declared their full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027. Naija News reports that the endorsement was made during a strategic meeting held on Tuesday at former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s residence in Kano. During the meeting, the party leaders also reaffirmed their loyalty to the former National Chairman of the APC, Ganduje. The discussions centred on fostering unity within the APC, preparing for the 2027 general elections, and reviewing progress made under Tinubu’s administration, particularly in Northern Nigeria and Kano State. In his remark, Kano State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, said the gathering was aimed at resolving internal issues and positioning the party for a decisive victory in 2027. “We are fully committed to the success of President Tinubu and our great party. This meeting is about consolidating our base, strengthening our unity, and positioning the APC to win convincingly in 2027,” Daily Post quoted Abbas as stating. Abbas noted that the party is open to reconciliation and willing to accommodate defectors from the Kwankwasiyya movement if they choose to join the APC. “If Kwankwasiyya members are ready to join us in the APC, we will welcome them. But if they remain in opposition, we will confront them decisively at the polls,” he said. During the meeting, APC leaders dismissed claims of favouritism in the distribution of federal projects under Tinubu’s administration. They cited several ongoing initiatives in the North and Kano State, commending the president for promoting inclusive development nationwide. Naija News understands that the meeting was attended by prominent APC members, including former Kano governorship candidate Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Minister of State for the FCT Dr Mariya Bunkure, Senator Kawu Sumaila, and federal lawmakers Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, and Sani Bala Tsanyawa. Members of the Kano State House of Assembly, senior federal appointees, and other party officials were also present. At the end of the session, party leaders unanimously agreed to strengthen cooperation and sustain APC’s dominance in Kano, pledging to deliver victory for the party at both state and federal levels in the 2027 elections. |
Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday, invited the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the wedding of Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, in the United States. The spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, who responded to the APC’ question querying the whereabouts of the governor, stated in a statement that Governor Ademola Adeleke is attending Davido’s wedding for a few days and have extended the wedding invitation to the party. He said, “His Excellency is extending an invitation to the opposition party to attend the event and share in the joy of the occasion with the Adeleke family. Those unable to attend may join virtually. “Additionally, from the November 2022 date, the governor has not gone on official vacation. For this current trip, the Governor has again chosen to make it a short one to continually attend to crucial state functions. “Governor Adeleke left Nigeria for the United States via the family’s private jet a few days ago for the wedding of the global musical icon, his beloved nephew, David Adeleke.” He, however, maintained that his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, is fully on the ground to supervise activities of the government while the keeping constant communication with his principal on state affairs

State Department says US is focused on trying to end conflict, as US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff scheduled to travel to Gaza Thousands of Palestinians cause a stampede at a humanitarian aid distribution point controlled by the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" in southern Gaza, on May 27, 2025. WASHINGTON The Trump administration is “determined” to get as much food as possible into Gaza amid widespread starvation in the besieged enclave, the State Department said Thursday, as senior US officials prepare to travel to the Gaza Strip to assess humanitarian conditions on the ground. “It is a clear indication that this administration is determined (to get) as much aid as possible into Gaza,” Deputy State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told reporters. “What we're focused on now is trying to address this conflict and trying to end this conflict,” Pigott added. “I'm not going to speculate or preview where these discussions may go.” His remarks came the day before US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee were scheduled to visit Gaza to inspect food distribution sites, according to the White House. “They will be traveling into Gaza to inspect the current distribution sites and secure a plan to deliver more food and meet with local Gazans to hear firsthand about this dire situation on the ground,” said White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt. The trip follows what Leavitt described as a “very productive” meeting between Witkoff, Huckabee, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday in Israel. “The special envoy and the ambassador will brief the president immediately after their visit to approve a final plan for food and aid distribution in the region,” she said. Israel has imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip for 18 years and, since March 2, has shut down all crossings, preventing humanitarian aid convoys from entering the enclave despite growing international pressure. At least 154 Palestinians have died from starvation since October 2023, including 89 children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. |
Olujomi said that with President Bola Tinubu's political experience, it would be difficult to defeat him in 2027. Olujimi A former deputy governor of Ekiti State, Senator Biodun Olujimi, has said that Peter Obi’s eloquence, which played a major role in his performance in the 2023 presidential election, will not pose a threat to the second-term bid of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential poll. “The rhetoric of the last election will not work again, except he comes with another gimmick. And you see, this (Tinubu) is a politician, a man who knows the terrain well,” Olujimi said on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday. Olujimi The senator, who is also a former minority leader of the Senate, said that with President Bola Tinubu’s political experience, it would be difficult to defeat him in 2027. Senator Olujimi “This is the first time we are having a dyed-in-the-wool politician as president. He knows his onions; he knows all of us. He has been in the system for very long. It’s tough. “This is a man who has worked with everyone, who has been useful to everyone, who has had opportunities to assist governments. Beating him? Uphill task,” she said. ‘APC Is Different Now’ Olujimi said she joined the APC because its leadership is pragmatic and resolute, noting that the party she used to criticise is different now. She explained, “The APC we talked about in the past, the government that was in power then, is not the current one in power. There is a different APC now. “This government is pragmatic. It’s resolute, it’s taking tough decisions and running with the decisions. It’s not like other governments – taking tough decisions and when people start to complain, dropping it and making them comfortable again, going back to the old ways. “Rather, it’s taking the bull by the horns and moving on, and that is what I saw in the new APC. I am telling you that it is this government that made me join the APC, not any other.” She said, though it was not fair that she dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that gave her political prominence, the opposition party lost traction. She said her supporters at the grassroots were happy that she left the PDP. Speaking further, Olujimi said she would rather leave the PDP than remain in the party and work against it. The former lawmaker said that the challenges in the PDP were a collective responsibility, adding that it acted like a ruling party while in opposition, when it lost the 2023 presidential election. On the coalition movement in the African Democratic Congress, Olujimi said the party lacked the structures at the state and local levels in Ekiti and was not an option for her.
