The Yobe state police command has arrested an Assistant headteacher with Jajere Central Primary School, Abubakar Musa. for allegedly raping one of his pupil, a 10-year-old (name withheld), and claiming it was consensual. Disclosing his arrest to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, said Musa who is well known in the community for defiling little children, used money to lure his victim, a primary five pupil, into an uncompleted building and raped her on two occasions, July 15 and July 17. “From our investigation, we found out that Musa met her in the market where she sells sachet water. He then picked two sachets of water and left after telling her to meet him in an uncompleted building for her money. According to Face 2 Face Africa, she will be responsible for teaching other kids her age about the basics of coding including HTML and CSS. The school selected her for the job because of her extraordinary skill and knowledge in the area. Mayaki’s passion for technology started at 7 years old. A man who stabbed his heavily pregnant ex-girlfriend, killing her and their baby, has been jailed for life with the minimum term of 35 years at the Old Bailey. Aaron McKenzie, 26, of Peckham, south London, broke into Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle’s bedroom in the middle of the night and stabbed her 21 times as her family slept upstairs. The tragic attack occurred in June 2019. Last week, a jury found McKenzie, guilty of murdering 33 weeks pregnant Miss Fauvrelle, the manslaughter of baby Riley and possession of a knife. Senator Rochas Okorocha’s request for an order to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the state probe panel from investigating him on alleged financial infractions, has been struck out by a federal high court sitting in Abuja. Okorocha had requested for a court order ending or suspending EFCC's investigation against him, including all the petitions submitted to it by the Imo government until the panel on contract set up by the same state government had concluded its probe on his government between 2011 and 2019. While counsel to the former Imo State governor, Oba Maduabuchi (SAN) informed the court that the defence counsel asked for an adjournment to respond to processes served on them and also asked the court to stop those involved in the suit from going ahead with the probe pending the determination of the matter, the counsel to 2nd to 48th defendants, J.M. The Senate has passed the Sexual Harassment Bill which is to stop sexual abuse of female undergraduates in tertiary institutions in the country. The bill titled: 'A Bill for an Act to prevent, prohibit and redress Sexual Harassment of students in tertiary educational institutions and for matters concerned therewith, 2019', was sponsored by the Deputy Senate President. Ovie Omo-Agege, and 106 other senators. The bill among many things is geared towards promoting and protecting ethical standards in tertiary institutions. It will also protect students against sexual harassment as well as prevent sexual harassment of students by educators in tertiary institutions. The bill which has 27 clauses, proposed up to 14 years jail term, with a minimum of 5 years, without an option of fine for any educator who commits sexual offenses in tertiary institutions. The bill defines sexual offenses as including sexual intercourse with a student or demands for sex from a student or a prospective student or intimidating or creating a hostile or offensive environment for the student by soliciting for sex or making sexual advances....
