There is no place getting a job is easy. Even in Nigeria today, is there job let alone getting it? If you're in Norway and are very smart, you can move to any country in the world if you choose to. So many guys in Norway usually visit Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Spain and other EU countries during holidays and make friends together with looking out for other opportunities. What is the need of even relocating when MSc to PhD is tuition free and you get paid as PhD student more than PhD students in the US, UK and Canada and these are opportunities our own Country Nigeria can never offer us. One of my friends that did his PhD in Norway, travelled to more than 12 countries (UK, US, Canada and Bahamas inclusive) during his PhD.. I repeat, the most important thing is leaving "HELLISH NIGERIA". However, if you have the money for Canada, UK, US, Australia or New Zealand ( to go to these aforementioned countries, budget at least 10m naira and above especially with the rate at which dollar is rising against the Naira) then go. Who would even see tuition free education and embrace paid tuition education.
If you're an I.T, computer sciencist, software engineer, Nurse or Doctor, head to Norway. The pay in those field is the highest in the world currently.

[quote author=Hilariousthiago post=111970170] please do they give scholarship for undergraduate programs? Everything I've been seeing online is about postgraduate. [/qeven

Undergraduate programs in Norway are taught in Norwegian language so even if they give, international students can't get it due to language barrier so zero your mind from undergraduate course

Anyone asking you not to accept admission offer from any Norwegian higher institutions probably due to the fact that there might not be job poststudy, is an enemy of progress and a lover of retrogression. There are jobs in Norway, it all depends on networking. Are there jobs in Nigeria? Since you graduated from the university, have you done any job that paid you very well in Nigeria? Norway is better than so many countries in the world. I have friends who studied in Japan, Sweden and Germany and if you ask them to relocate to US or Canada or even UK, they would turn down the offer. What matters in life is determination or passion to succeed. I stayed in Nigeria for 22 years without achieving anything but the moment I travelled to Norway to be with my elder brother, in 2 years, I got what I couldn't get in my 22 years in Nigeria. There are jobs in Norway, jobs like hotel cleaning or working in seafood industries or groceries. A friend of mine who works as a part-time worker while studying MSc is earning 198 NOK per hr.. From Norway, you can go to any country of your choice. The most important thing here is leaving hellish Nigeria. I know that Language is a barrier in getting job but that does not limit you from getting job. Apply to schools in Oslo, Bergen, stavenger and Trondheim, these are cities with most jobs. After your MSc, you apply for PhD and you get paid yearly of more than 450,000 NOK once taken... For PhD positions and other jobs in Norway, make use of these sites www.jobbnorge.no www.finn.no and for a wider view about Norway, use www.studyinnorway.no and www.namastefromnorway.com

Cvv1477, is Norway a good Idea for someone coming with two kids. What are the provisions for childcare?
Norway currently, is the best country in the world according to human development index (HDI) and this HDI indicator is based on Life expectancy, Per capita income and education http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/hdi-by-country/ after Norway, Switzerland is next then Australia. then In terms of world happiness report, Norway is the 3rd happiest Nation in the world after Finland and Denmark https://www.departures.com/travel/worlds-happiest-countries-2019 in fact the Scandinavia is the best in the world very peaceful with the lowest crime rate in the world. their healthcare system is superb if not the best in the world, then it should be the second best country in the world in terms of good and quality healthcare system. the only thing there is that the country is very very expensive and their tax rate is very high. You pay 30-35% tax and the higher the salary, the more tax you pay this is according to my brother that's based there. the high tax rate does not bother the workers because they pay for what makes life beautiful. education is free, quality healthcare, clean environment and a well defined transport system both air and land. accommodation is also very expensive but if you've a job at hand, you won't feel it because pay there is very very very high and the country is very very very cold especially during winter period. the weather is cold now because they're in winter. so make sure you have a job there first before you go there. Norway believes in Egalitarianism I.e equality of both men and women and there is no salary disparity between men and women. it's a peaceful and wealthy nation. My best countries in the world 1 Norway 2 Australia 3 Canada 4 Switzerland 5 Netherlands, Denmark and sweden . Did you see UK or the USA there? No.. the 2 countries are living in old glory. if you want a very very high pay, then go off to the countries I listed above. the best way to go there is via education. simple!...list of high paying careers in the aforementioned countries are; nursing, medicine, Engineering (petroleum, chemical, Geoscience, computer for Norway) data science, information technology, Health Safety and Environment, Economics and finance, project management e.t.c . use this website for Norwegian visa information https://www.udi.no/en/word-definitions/fees/#link-3596 just do your best and commit the rest to God Shalom!.. if you find anything difficult add me on Facebook Prince Chidinma Victor and I will put you through..Just try Nigeria is a joke and victory belongs to God!

Cvv1477, nice job you're doing here. Really appreciate.

Can you estimate the total cost of running an MSC program in Norway?

And things we need to budget for while starting our application for Msc in Norway?
MSC is free, you're not paying for tuition but you must have 5 million that you will pay to the school. just read the previous pages I explained these things there

How to calculate your GPA and convert it to Norwegian grading system https://www.quora.com/How-much-GPA-does-Norwegian-C-equal-to if the minimum GPA requirement of your programme is the Norwegian C click on that link and you will understand where you're for those that graduated with 2.2 but bear it in mind that 2.1 graduates stand a better chance but all hope is not lost for 2.2 graduates especially 3.0 and above

for application to most schools, u don't need IELTS since you're from Nigeria, except university of Oslo (uio), but I will confirm this uio of a thing because the the last time I checked GSU list, Nigerians don't need to provide any proof of English certification like IELTS or TOEFL since our official language is English and our WAEC and Degree also are in English. go to https://www.nokut.no/en/surveys-and-databases/nokuts-country-database/GSU-list/ you will see it

Norway runs central admission system and admission portal for most schools opens on the 15th of October through 15th of December, make sure you get all your documents ready and lunch your applications. Admission is competitive so apply to many schools to be on the safer side. Good luck!

Stop reinforcing ignorance please. Norway is in Europe. Egypt and other north African countries don't generally see themselves as Africans but that doesn't mean they're not. Don't force mere sentiments on others.
bros if you read my chats and understand it, you will know we're on same track. I said "GEOGRAPHICALLY", they lie on the northern most hemisphere of the European continent but " POLITICALLY", they are not part of European union and they prefer to be referred to as Scandinavians to Europeans. Just as the UK is trying to secede from EU, via the platform of BREXIT . does it now mean that if they succeed, they're no longer in Europe?. when I started this conversation, I said earlier on that we have 7 continents in the world Europe, Africa, Asia, N/America, S/America Antarctica and Australia and a nation must be on one of the continents... so read my write-ups very well before you jump into issues....please let's forget about this issue of geographic location and political perception of a thing and discuss about how to enter the country which is the most important thing. the location of Norway will neither put food on our table nor bring money to us. what I want to hear is that everyone yearning to go there has entered the country!

Nawa oh. Imagine the courage with which you're asserting 'ignorance'. So if Nigeria leaves the AU today, Nigeria ceases to be an African country?
Norway is undoubtedly in Europe, simple and short.
The EU is just a few decades old political creation of man.
Geography is not equal to politics.
I'm not quarrelling with you bro, we learn everyday. if you check world map, you will notice that Iceland and Norway are situated far from other European countries but situated close to Sweden and Denmark ( generally call Scandinavia) for instance Germany which is in western ( the most central European country) Europe has a short distance interconnections with Czech republic, Belgium, Austria, France and Netherland and you can easily travel to all these countries using train or road than travelling to Norway via the aforementioned routes. Norway is surrounded by water ( Atlantic ocean and Norwegian sea) even to go to the neighbouring Scandinavian countries, you go by land or air or water... let me just say Norway is in Europe and not in Europe. I can remember a Norwegian friend I met in Guangzhou early last year, then I called her " European buddy" she smiled and said she prefers being referred to as Scandinavian than the aforementioned European Buddy ".. so in general, Norway lies on Europe ( Yes geographically they lie on Europe " but far away from" but politically, they don't accept they're Europeans, they prefer the noun " Scandinavian" thanks.... I like this platform because we share ideas and knowledge. God bless us all

I've been to Dubai and China about to relocate to Norway, secondly I've an elder biologic brother who's a specialist Nurse in Norway and he has been in the country for more than 12 years now ( you know what that means in terms of getting vital information from him) 3rdly, Norway is not a member of EU so politically, it's not an European country but Sweden is. however, Norway is part of schengen countries do your research well Bro. we're now in the 21st digital century, just pick up your phones and bomb Google with questions and research and you will get enough answers. there are a lot of things I researched myself without asking my brother that is resident in Norway. what I do is just to tell him " this is this and that is this in Norway and he will say yes" because is job doesn't give him much time to chat for long. so use your phone and check it. Norway is located in the northern most hemisphere of course we have about 7 continents in the world and you must belong to one of them as a Nation, so when you check on Google, they classify Norway as being a country in Europe but if you mingle with them, they will tell you they're on their own just as Iceland is on their own. Norway is not a member of European Union but member of schengen countries, Iceland is not a member of European Union but member of Schengen countries, Sweden is a member of European Union and schengen countries.. so that's it

I just have a question for the house especially those over there in Norway.

I believe this question had been asked buh I wasn't so sure of the response cos 2 persons gave dissimilar views.

Q: This 5million naira been deposited for visa/embassy study permit; Can it be withdrawn back after all necessary paperwork has been done on arrival in Norway and sent back to Nigeria comfortably? Say 3 months time??

Cos, na borrow I wan borrow as e stand once the response is established.

Thanks in anticipation.
bro it's advisable not to borrow money for this kind of movement. once you deposit the money, it will take you like 2--3 months before you get it because you have to go through so many legal applications, through the student welfare department of the school, they will open a bank account for you, deduct like 6000 NK for accommodation, semester fee and other registration fees depending on the school and transfer the remaining money to the account they will open for you there in Norway, then you can now start using your money. however the reason why I said it's advisable not to borrow money is because you might stay 2 or 3 or even 4 months before you get job. how will you feed and pay your accommodation as well as transport fare?. once you apply for admission and they grant you the admission, you will be given receipts for accommodation and the money you deposited. which you will use to apply for study permit at Norwegian embassy. study permit costs 5300 NK about 211,000 naira and if granted, the next one you will apply is the resident permit through the police department and you will be given a social security number without all these no way for you in Norway and you can't get job.

there are Jobs in those sectors, you will work in the hotel, museum or other related sectors but you must learn their language for permanent job acquisition. per time student job is not that hard to get, you will get it don't be scared the country is good and there is room to switch to other disciplines if you so desire. after all my brother told me that his friend did microbiology in the university of Nigeria Nsukka and he came to Norway and switched to nursing and he's doing fine to the glory of God

* its difficult to get a professional job because of the language barrier but you can get odd jobs that can sustain you over there.

Pls how much do one get from doing odd jobs? And can they sustain one for the month like for payment of rent, feeding and other little expenses. Thanks in anticipation.
wages vary by industries but at least, you're sure of 110---130 Norwegian Krone per hour after tax and you work 20hrs per week during school period and unlimited hour during break. 1NK = 40 naira, do the remaining maths and get the required result per month and per year. However, odd jobs pay very well if gotten, at least the pay should be enough for you to live a vibrant and decent life like travelling, Skiing (major outdoor sport in Norway) accommodation, feeding and all that but not luxurious lifestyle. Student accommodation is between 3000---4500 Norwegian krone depending on the area your school is located in. in minor cities ( when I say minor, they're developed than your FCT Abuja) you won't spend more than 7000 NK per month likewise in major cities, you won't spend more than 8500 NK per month in accommodation, feeding, transport and other things if you live a low key lifestyle. however, if you smoke and drink expect to spend 12000--- 15000 Nk per month because drinks are costly and cigarette is very very expensive because of high tariff imposed on it by the Norwegian government. Oslo (the capital city), Trondheim and Stavanger (oil capital of Norway) are expensive but have more Student jobs and numerous opportunities for int'l students than other cities so I prefer the aforementioned cities. it's advisable to learn Norwegian language in other to integrate and get what you want as regards post graduation opportunities. after MSc, you can apply for skilled working visa if you can present the sum of 200,000 NK that's about 8 million naira to Norwegian immigration department www.UDI.no and they will give you one year post study visa to look for job and the job must be in line with your academic discipline. if you can learn their language before you finish your masters and have up to 8 million, you are good to go with this option but unfortunately, you can't learn Bokmal and Nynorsk ( Norwegian languages) within just two years. some schools offer free language course once you're admitted to a particular MSC programme e.g NTNU also Look for their girls and date, it will make you to integrate very well and learn the language very fast. However, my advice for people upon MSC admission to a Norwegian school is to immediately apply for PhD while in 2nd year of your MSC programme in fact, most of the MSC programmes have career paths to PhD and even if yours doesn't have, look for another MSc programme and do to gain more ground In the country and to enable you immerse yourself deeply in their language after all, education is free so keep studying for greatness you shall see the glory of God. PhD students are paid 45000usd----50000usd per year, the higher you go in level, the higher the pay ( for e.g you can receive 45,000 USD in 100 level of your PhD programme and 50,000 USD in year two or three and it goes like that) as a PhD student, you will be given maximum respect as an employee and you will travel round the world for research purpose, seminars, book lunch and inaugural lectures related to your field. running a PhD programme is the best way to acquire Permanent residency and Job and you must have learnt Norge by then. I.T as well as nurses, doctors, engineers and other health related disciplines are highly sought after with very high pay. Norway is geographically an European country but politically not an European country because its not a member of EU but its a member of Schengen. It has borders with Sweden and Denmark and it's one of the 26-member schengen countries so with it's student and resident permit, you can travel to other 25 schengen countries without any hitches but you must not exceed 90 days in your stay!..My advice again is to settle down and marry their girl, it will bring a lot of opportunities. there girls are good if you're sincere to them and are ready to face genuine way of life to making it. EDUCATION and MARRIAGE is the best way to go as regards Norway, my elder brother studied nursing and married there also and today, he's not regretting it.... I did biochemistry at university of Port Harcourt and I'm relocating soon for nursing or MSC in Biotechnology. Just try your best, focus on God, and you will make it ...GOD bless us all. Lest I forget some doctors and nurses make 1 million naira and above per month some even 2million, 3 million depending on specialty, experience and how good you're. the working period is flexible 38hrs per week except overtime and must be financially beneficial but you must also know that Norway is " you earn more and spend more" but you don't have to live large, just focus on the money first and live a low key life and you will make it very well considering the country you're from. when you strike balance in life financially, you can live large if you wish. its one of the richest countries in the world with a very high standard of living and a GDP per capita of 83,000 USD as at 2018 whereas Nigeria is just 2000 USD. free education from undergraduate to professorship for both citizens and foreign students free healthcare, good food, beautiful environment and with a population of 5,700,000 it makes it easier for wealth to be distributed. nothing like poverty to them, everyone is wealthy but they don't show themselves. very humble, smart and hardworking people. they have enough seafoods ( you will eat and become tired if you have the money). my elder brother is a Nurse ( specialties: midwifery and geriatrics) he has been there since year 2007 and he speaks bokmal and Nynorsk more than some Norwegians, he is already a citizen since years ago. any further inquiries, add me on Facebook Prince Chidinma Victor God bless us all!

Good afternoon house, i am new here, i am an adult working class person(above 30yrs, over 4 years working experience in sales department), who graduated with a 3rd class in chemistry. I work in an IT firm and i intend getting a Bsc in IT, my aim is to specialise in cyber security or data science in western Sydney university. I have been reading the threads here for sometime and they are quite interesting.
*Pls what are my chances of switching over and getting a visa.
* For IT courses are there chances of getting a permanent residence permit after studies?
*what's the difference between Tafe schools and regular schools?
*what does AL1 mean?
Your answers will be appreciated, thank you.
you will get your visa provided you're able present a convincing statement of purpose (SOP), stating why you're switching course, the level of expertise and experience gained in the course you're switching to, what you will do studying that course as well as the benefit that course will bring to you and your home country. you will get PR but my advice for you is to apply for MSc in IT after graduation it increases your points. IT is highly south after and with good pay. TAFE schools are technical and Further education schools, they offer certificate and diploma programmes just like what they call colleges in Canada. AL1 schools are schools that have full support and back up by Australian immigration to manage the risk a foreign student will pose to the country so In other words, if you're admitted by one of the AL1 schools in Australia, immi.homeaffairs.gov.au knows that you've undergone proper scrutiny and cannot pose risk to the country I.e your mission is genuine or legitimate. more so, you wouldn't be asked to declare or tender your statement of account! Good luck!

Hello house, I graduated from the university of Port Harcourt in Dec,2014, studied Biochemistry and graduated with a CGPA of 3.33/5.0 scale. moving forward, I would love to do an MSC in Public Health and I've searched for schools offering it and discovered Macquarie university and UNISA.
THE QUESTIONS ARE
1 will MSC in Public Health lead me to acquisition of PR , because I checked the Australian immigration website, and didn't see it, only saw biochemistry on medium and Long term strategic skill list (MLTSSL)

2 I'm aware that both Macquarie and UNISA don't require IELTS from Nigerian students. Post admission, will they request for it during my visa application?

3 Will 9 million naira budgeted for it be enough for me for the 2-year MSC course? as I don't want to be stranded financially and I also understand I will work per time job and save up for other fees and personal upkeep.
pls kindly answer me my dear brothers and sisters as this is urgent. if you are applying to those aforementioned schools or have any reasonable suggestions/advise, thanks and God bless!

I've tried some schools, they said they don't accept Nigerians while some also said I need oral and written examinations and I don't know if I will be in Japan for the exam or if it will be written online. pls help a brother with any schools that accept Nigerians without any stress!
