RomanceRe: How To Love An Igbo Man by cyberak: 11:29am On Jan 27, 2012
You are from Imo State but married to a Yoruba man, how have you been able to sustain your marriage for 25 years?

It has been wonderful. I couldn’t have married an Igbo man. If I was 20 years younger, I probably would have been married to an Igbo man. I have never met an Igbo man, particularly my age group, who isn’t heavy handed, extremely insecure, have fragile ego — they have to press their wife under the carpet to feel like the man of the house. All my friends are married to Yoruba men and we all hang out with no issues. The Yoruba men are civilised, confident — I am sorry but that is the truth. The younger generation of Igbo men are like that now. But when I was of dating and of the marriageable age, Igbo men like my husband didn’t exist. Adekunle is a fully emancipated confident man. He does have his issues like all men, but our union is a day in, day out work in progress thing. He is a kind man, a deep and quiet person. I have found him very fascinating as he has been able to keep my interest all through these years. He can be difficult and mischievous, but he is a very interesting person. He is also very supportive, he believes in me more than I believe in myself.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Nigerian Police And Their Illiteracy Syndrome by cyberak: 12:45pm On Sep 21, 2011
It's no crime, but lawyers in the house can shed more lights. Respecting the police, so many of them employ psychological intimidation to frustrate one. But i remember always what a very senior top police officer who was my mate in the uni told me: most rank and file are semi-literates and would do everything to visit their frustrations on you, just be patient once you are sure you've not committed any crime cos your patience will calm them. They also play on the fact that most of us are inpatient. These behaviors are contrary to what they are taught at the police college.
