Canadian student Mina Gerges dedicates his Instagram account, @keepingupwithmina, to recreating the looks of our favorite celebrities, including Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Gerges said that he makes all his costumes himself, and with a little help of Photoshop to highlight the extreme retouching on many celeb photos which promote unrealistic body image.

“I make everything myself,” he said. “I purchase curtains and hold them with pins, and everything else I put on them I stick with glue.” He said each photo takes about two hours to complete.

The government should consider the following areas and effect changes where necessary:
A. Education: This should be taken seriously
B. SECURITY: Ensure that people are safe,propertiessafe too. This will encourage investors to come.
C. Create avenues for job security for school leavers and job seekers.
D. ELECTRICITY: Citizens,investors need this.
E. AGRICULTURE: Encourage citizens to get involved in this. Support those in need of finance to do this.
F. INVENTIONS/INDUSTRY: Encourage the youths to invent things with supervision. Celebrate our locally made products and promote it by exporting them rather than importing things every now and then.
G. Allow individuals to excercise their human rights without harrassments from the police etc.
H. Stop all forms of corruption starting from the top to the least government official.
I. Allow each state to manage its resouces to the best of their abilities. Every state should be allowed to have storage centres where their resources are stored and managed for the betterment of their states and people. Some percentage could be remitted to the Federal. This will make it easier for states to grow and manage their resources effectively hereby removing unecessary burdens on the Federal.
INTERNATIONAL:

Amou Hadji made headlines this week after a story circulated that he hasn’t bathed himself in 60 years.
The 80-year-old Iranian man sat down for a brief photo series that details what could happen to the human body.

Not surprisingly, Hadji has a deep odor and his skin is tough and scaly. Hadji is homeless and refuses to eat food or drink clean water.

His favorite food is dead porcupine and he regularly smokes a pipe filled with animal feces. Hadji claims that he has chosen this lifestyle to stay in touch with with the earth.

The last record of longest time going without showers belonged to a 66-year-old Indian man, Kailash Singh, who had not taken a bath over 38 years.

Not to our surprise, when we searched the reason behind Amou Haji’s way of life, we found out that he had gone through some emotional setbacks in his youth and from then on decided to live an isolated life.

He escaped from the hands of a few young men who offered him free shower, because he believes cleanliness brings him sickness.

Watch the Watcher, a book by activist Yinka Odumakin was launched today at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos.

The book catalogues activities of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo as experienced by Yinka Odumakin during the time the former President was at the helm of affairs in the country.

The launch was attended by former Ogun State governor, Olusegun Osoba, frontline lawyer Ayo Adebanjo, writer Odia Ofeimun, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, and representatives of some government officials.

Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan and the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, General Mohammadu Buhari, have reportedly gotten eight more presidential aspirants from other parties.


This was contained in an official list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last night, a copy obtained by The Nation.

The list showed that ten presidential candidates will be slugging it out in the February 14, 2015 presidential election.


The candidates according to the list comprised President Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), General Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a woman- Prof. Comfort Oluremi Sonaiya of Kowa Party.


Others include: Ambrose Albert ( Hope Democratic Party); Ganiyu Galadima ( Allied Congress Party of Nigeria); Rafiu Salau ( Alliance for Democracy); Godson Okoye (United Democratic Party); Dr. Nani Ibrahim Ahmad (African Democratic Congress); Martin Onovo (National Conscience Party); Tunde Anifowoshe-Kelani (Action Alliance); and Chekwas Okorie (United Progressive Party).

The list further revealed the presidential aspirants running mates to include: Vice-President Namadi Sambo (PDP); Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (APC); Haruna Shaba (Hope Democratic Party); Balarabe Ahmed (ACPN); Prof. Clinton Cliff Akuchie (AD); Haruna Adamu (United Democratic Party); Obianuju Murphy-Uzohue (African Democratic Congress); Ibrahim Mohammed (NCP); Saidu Bobboi (Kowa Party); Comrade Paul Ishaka Ofomile (Action Alliance); and Bello Umar (United Progressive Party).

Meanwhile, the submission of the names to INEC closed on December 25 and Nigerians were given a grace period of seven days to raise any objection on the particulars of the candidates, as the list of candidates and their credentials were pasted on a container kiosk at the FCT office of INEC in Abuja for claims and objections. The development, however, is in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

According to the electoral body, the bases for qualification are as specified in Sections 65′ 106, 131 and 177 of the 1999 Constitution.

Speaking on the development, Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Robert Idowu, said the commission has complied with the law, adding that it published the list of all the presidential candidates in all the states of the Federation.

Idowu also hinted that the list for other elective offices will be published in their constituencies and senatorial districts as applicable.

The electoral agency said Nigerians are free to screen the particulars and raise issues if they think any candidate should be disqualified.

“The personal particulars are displayed in all the state and local government offices of the commission in the constituencies of the candidates. Any person who has reasonable grounds to believe that any information given by any candidate is false or that the candidate is not qualified or is disqualified from contesting the elections should notify the commission in writing within seven days of this publication,” INEC said.

The electoral body, however, listed eleven conditions under which any of the presidential candidates or other candidates can be disqualified from contesting election as seen below:

“While a person is disqualified if he or she (i) has declared allegiance to another country; (ii) has been elected to the office of President or Governor at any two previous elections; (iii) adjudged to be a lunatic or declared to be of unsound mind; (iv) is under a sentence of death or is under a sentence of imprisonment or fine for an offence involving dishonesty or fraud (v) has in the last 10 years been convicted and sentenced for an offence involving dishonesty (vi) has been found guilty of a contravention of the code of conduct; (vii) is an undischarged bankrupt; (viii) is employed in the public service and does not resign, withdraw or retire at least 30 days to the election; (ix) is a member of a secret society; (x) has been indicted for embezzlement or fraud by a Judicial Committee of Inquiry or an Administrative Panel of Inquiry or a Tribunal and which indictment has been accepted by the Federal or State Government; (xi) has presented a forged certificate to INEC.”


In a related development, a reliable source who spoke on condition of anonymity said there were strong indications on Saturday that President Jonathan has started reaching out to highly placed Emirs and some Northern leaders to counter the influence of the APC candidate, Gen. Buhari.
“The battle between Jonathan and Buhari has really shifted to the North. Jonathan is engaging in covert consultations with some prominent Emirs and leaders on why he should be given second term in office. The President, Vice-President Namadi Sambo, PDP governors, and leaders will be embarking on manoeuvring shuttles to some of these key Northern leaders for support. They are desperate to take the battle to Buhari’s stronghold,”the source said.

Reputable online news platform Sahara Reporters, has bombed the Nigerian Army, calling them a petty organisation with generals who specialise in deploying troops to attack the news organisation on twitter.

In an exclusive chat with the publisher of the news organisation Omoyele Sowore, the New York based publisher told The Paradigm that he his not surprised the army has resorted to name calling.
The Nigerian Army had earlier accused Sahara Reporters of working with the deadly Boko Haram terrorist group.
Dismissing the allegation, Sowore said
“the US Government was similarly accused of working for Boko Haram for refusing to sell helicopters to the Nigerian Army.
“The Nigerian Army has been reduced to a petty organization, the other day they deployed their men chasing after newspaper delivery vans across Nigeria because some were critical of their handling of the anti-terrorism fight.
Mr. Sowore further said that “Since they can’t find or arrest our copies, they’ve resorted to cheap blackmail.
“The content of the petition clearly speaks to how Boko Haram could be defeated, states why they haven’t been defeated.
“The petition indicted senior military officers including stating how a GOC was diverting money and food, and also building a mansion in Kaduna. But instead of investigating and acting on the content of the petition, the military hierarchy is engaging in subterfuge and deflecting public attention from the real issues.
“We join the long line of conscientious watchdogs branded by the Nigerian authorities for saying and reporting the truth,” Sowore told The Paradigm.
While speaking with this reporter, Sowore said that[i] “The Nigerian Army needs to return to being a serious and respectable fighting force in Africa not an organization of generals whose only skills are limited to deploying troops to fight dirty on Twitter”.[/i]
