According to the Eagles Online


The Department of State Services on Sunday said it has arrested some suspects in Lagos State for cloning the Permanent Voter Cards currently being issued around the country by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

A statement issued by the spokeswoman of the service, Marilyn Ogar, in Abuja said that it raided a building located at 10, Bola Ajbola Street, Allen Avenue following a petition it received alleging “unwholesome activities” there.

It was the same building the All Progressives Congress alleged on Saturday was raided by the police and Nigerian Army.
The party said it was an attempt to curtail its activities by the Federal Government and the Peoples democratic Party.

But Ogar, in the statement on Sunday, said:“The petition alleged that those behind the activities were cloning INEC Permanent Voters Card with the intention of hacking into INEC data base, corrupting it and replacing them with their own data.
“Based on this information, the service placed the building under surveillance and having been convinced that some unwholesome activities were going on in the building, it undertook a raid of the premises.

“In the process, some persons were arrested, while a Server, three hard drive and 31 Ghana must go bags of hard copy document were recovered and taken away for further investigation.”
According to Ogar, the said location had no sign post indicating whether it was a private or government office.
This was contrary to the position of the APC that it was a verifiable office.
The known state office of the APC in Lagos State is on Acme Road.

A Saudi groom who divorced his bride on their wedding night has been branded “totally irresponsible” and “utterly insensitive.”

The couple has reportedly accepted to marry without meeting or seeing each other at least one time as is the custom with traditional families that allow the prospective groom and the future bride to exchange looks.

It was only on the wedding night, and as the female guests from the two families were celebrating the wedding, that the groom saw the bride’s face for the first time in the presence of a hired photographer who was getting ready to take their picture.

“You are not the girl I want to marry. You are not the one I had imagined. I am sorry, but I divorce you,” the groom told the bride, local daily Okaz reported on Sunday.

Under the shock, the bride had a nervous breakdown and broke into tears, drawing the attention of the guests who rushed to her and tried to understand how an evening of happiness was turning into a tragedy.

“He caused her great pain through his irresponsible attitude, and he deserves to suffer,” Afra, a social network user, said. “He should appreciate that beauty is in the character, not the face. Unfortunately, many young people today are interested only in looks and ignore values and morals. May God give her a better husband who will appreciate her for who and what she is.”

Abu Nass, another user, lambasted the groom.

“He is not man enough to assume his responsibilities,” he said. “He is totally, completely insensitive. Nobody has forced him to marry her. He should have insisted on seeing her before the wedding and the engagement, and not wait until the wedding night. May he always be a loser and may he be deprived of getting married at all. He is not a man and he lacks basic feelings,” Abu Nass said.

Khalid said that the whole case was a catalogue of errors.

“Even if it is a traditional wedding, the two families should have arranged for the man and woman to see each other so that there is no misunderstanding or misconception,” Khalid said. “If the two accepted each other, the marriage plans would proceed. If not, then everybody seeks another chance in life. But waiting for the wedding night is not right,” he said.

Badr said that the groom should have been more sensitive and thoughtful.

“Whatever the reasons, it is not acceptable or fair to divorce her on the wedding people as the two families are celebrating,” he said. “He was selfish and foolish.”

The Nigerian military has retaken Chibok, a town in Borno State, where nearly 300 schoolgirls were abducted on April 14, from the extremist Boko Haram sect. The town was taken under control of the terrorists on Thursday night.


According to the Premium Times, the spokesperson of the Army Division in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, said the Army has retaken the town and driven the terrorist away.

A Colonel And Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Sani Usman, said: “Troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army have recaptured Chibok town in Borno State from Boko Haram terrorists since yesterday.”

“The military is still carrying out mopping up operations in the surrounding environment. Chibok town is now fully secured”.

According to villagers around Chibok town, they saw a large deployment of soldiers moving in from the direction of Damboa towards Chibok on Saturday morning.

An eyewitness said on the phone: “We saw large number of trucks filled with uniformed personnel moving towards Chibok; initially, we were scared but later realised they were soldiers as they did not harass us like the Boko Haram gunmen usually do.”

Chibok became the centre of international attention in April after Boko Haram fighters stormed the town and took away nearly 300 female students from a government secondary school. Majority of the girls are still in captivity more than six months after. About 57 either escaped or were released.

A recent claim by the Nigerian government that a ceasefire had been agreed with Boko Haram and that the girls will be returned to their families, turned out false.

Earlier, Boko Haram, has seized several towns lately in Borno and Adamawa State, driving out government soldiers and other security operatives and confiscating their arms.

On Thursday, the Adamawa State governor, Bala Ngilari, said local vigilante and hunters, backed by the military, reclaimed Mubi, the second most important town in Adamawa, nearly two weeks after the town fell to the insurgents.
