Former Nigerian Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari has taken to social media to solicit funds for his presidential campaign.

The presidential aspirant, who intends to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged his supporters to donate towards his ambition via a Facebook post.


The request published on the page of the former Head of State and also on the Buhari Support Group’s page reads:

Good morning friends!

As we have made it clear, our campaign is going to be funded, planned and run by ordinary Nigerian citizens like you. This is in recognition of your role as biggest stakeholders capable of changing the course of history of this great yet badly run nation.

In this regard, we launch our crowdfunding platform through which every Nigerian can contribute his token towards shaping the destiny of this country. Here are the details:

The Presidency, on Monday, debunked claims made by the Muslim Right Concern (MURIC) that the Federal Government has replaced the Arabic sign on Nigerian currency with Jewish Star of David in the new commemorative N100 note.

It would be recalled that MURIC in a statement on Sunday by Professor Ishaq Akintola, the director of the group, made this allegation. He also said President Goodluck Jonathan was implementing anti-Muslim policies.

But the presidency in a statement issued by presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, dismissed these allegations.

It also denied that the security at the Presidential Villa was populated by Israelis operatives, adding that it was completely untrue for the Islamic group to claim that President Goodluck Jonathan was anti-Muslim.

“The symbol his statement is referring to is the Star of David. There is no where on that proposed note as indicated in the specimen that has been widely publicised where there is any Jewish or Zionist symbol or the Star of David.

“The Star of David is a hexagram which is two triangles of equal lines superimposed on each other. The hexagram is a very popular symbol, but it is not on that naira note.

“The symbol that he is referring to is not a Jewish symbol. It is what they call spark security feature. It is an optical magnetic feature which enables the public to authenticate a currency note whether it is genuine or counterfeit. That is the function of that particular design,” the statement said.

About 1,700 Voter Cards have been recovered from a swampy forest in the Seme, Badagry area of Lagos State by the policemen attached to the Area K Command, Morogbo.


According to Punch, the police said the recovered VCs, which had been handed over to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Lagos State office, are suspected to have been stolen from an INEC worker in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said, “The materials were hidden in a swampy area in Seme. The police did not arrest any suspect because the area is not a neighbourhood. It is an abandoned location.

“Also, the INEC have duly been informed. We have shown them the recovered materials, although INEC eventually found them to be the old Voter Cards. However, the case is under investigation at the Area K Command.”
