Tourism as an industry is becoming one of the most popular and profitable industry the world over which no country, state or localities (especially those endowed with tourism potentials) can afford to neglect. Its economic power is an indispensable promotion to the development of any nation. Being a service industry, tourism can be subjected to empirical studies just like any industry. Its social and economic impacts on surrounding areas or periphery can therefore be measured. Tourism is no longer an obscure industry all over the world. Its status in international trade is such that no serious-minded country can afford to ignore it. Many researchers, international, national regional as well as individual researchers have been conducted on the subject. Many authors, therefore, have one thing or the other to say on tourism. According to Femi Olokesusi (2009), tourism is a form of recreation that requires leaving home for some other places, whether near or far. When such movements are confirmed within the country of the origin, it is referred to as “domestic Tourism”. On the other hand, when people travel from their countries of origin to another for recreation-related activities, such tourism is referred to as international; tourism. In the words of Sangari Abdulmunin (1991), tourism, by the simple definition could mean the movement of a person from his abode to another of leisure. The Oxford English Dictionary, Second Edition, Volume 18 defines tourism as the theory and practice of touring; travelling for pleasure. Also, the business of attracting tourists and providing for their accommodation and entertainment, the business of operating tours. The definition of both “tourism” and “recreation” is needed at the onset because as claimed by Olekesui (1989), people often misconstrue recreation for tourism. Tourism in its simplest form can be defined as recreation that involves travelling while the contemporary, recreation is an activity performed during leisure that does not involve travelling. Recreation is therefore defined as a refreshment or comfort produced by something affecting the senses or body. It is further defined as the action of recreating (oneself or another), or fact of being recreated by some pleasant occupation, pastime or amusement or a means of recreating oneself by a pleasurable exercise or employment. A recreationist is therefore seen as one who pursues a recreation. According to Randle, tourism can either be domestic, intermediate or international. By domestic, he meant national citizens who wish to spend their holiday in the country while by intermediate, he refers to intra-continental tourism. Olokosusi (1989) also agreed with him on the classification of tourism. He however identified only two, viz: domestic and international tourism. Tourism thus classified is based on the origin and/or destination of the travelling recreationist. Bryden (1972) defined tourism as the sum of the phenomenon and relationships arising from the travel and stay of non-residents, in so far as they do not lead to permanent residency and are not connected with any earning activity. source: tycomputer research projects |

Residents of the Dead sea destroyed by a meteorite The red-hot explosion that came from heaven, destroyed houses and settlements North of the Dead sea about 3700 years ago, scientists have found out. Radiocarbon Dating and extracted minerals that crystallized instantly at high temperatures indicate that a massive air blast caused by a meteorite that exploded in the atmosphere instantly destroyed civilization in a circular plain 25 kilometers wide, says archaeologist Philip Sylvia. This event also led to the bubbling salt solution of the Dead sea covering the once fertile agricultural land. Maybe that’s how Sodom was destroyed. Meteorite that destroyed Jordan Excavations on the site of modern Jordan have shown that the Average Mountain was inhabited for 2500 years until a sudden collapse by the end of the bronze age it was destroyed. Field studies have found 120 small settlements, which also, according to scientists, were exposed to extreme heat and wind. About 40-65 thousand people inhabited the Middle Mountains, when there was a cosmic cataclysm. https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/-000//1/superpower-650x366-300x169.jpg Very often in science fiction films, we can see how scientists with the help of high technology can create things that give people superpowers. And it may sound like something unbelievable, but a group of German researchers could actually do something similar. True, Tony Stark’s abilities are far away from Tony Stark’s abilities, but now you can give an opportunity to easily navigate the terrain in the absence of smartphones and in general any other navigation devices today. And all this thanks to a special e-skin. Behind the development are researchers from the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf, and they themselves call their invention "the bionic analogue of the compass." It is a silver polymer with a thickness of only one thousandth of a millimeter and is able to pick up the magnetic field of the Earth. As the lead author of the study Gilbert Santiago Canyon Bermudez said “The film is equipped with sensors that detect the magnetic field. We are talking about 40-60 microtesla, that is, 1000 times weaker than the magnetic field of a typical magnet on your refrigerator. Previously, such sensors required the connection of external magnets. This time the sensors allow the owner to constantly determine their orientation in space. And if the carrier changes its position, the sensors fix it. ” The device itself works due to the anisotropic magnetoresistive effect (AMR), which means, as the authors explained, that the electrical resistance of the polymer layers varies depending on their orientation relative to the external magnetic field. https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/-000//1/ai-650x316.jpg In the city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province in eastern China, where the fifth World Internet Conference is currently being held, the world’s first news with the participation of artificial intelligence in the form of an anchorman was revealed. TV presenter, created on the basis of the latest technologies in the field of AI, looks like a man with voice, facial expressions and gestures of a real person. “He” learns to broadcast independently and can read texts as a professional news broadcaster. The TV anchor was developed through a joint venture of Xinhua News Agency, the official media representative of China and the Chinese search company Sogou.com. The world’s first TV host – artificial intelligence According to Xinhua, “he” has become a member of the agency’s reporting team and can work 24 hours a day on the official website and on various social networking platforms, reducing the cost of producing news and increasing efficiency. First of all, striking is the realism of the new presenter. It is easy to assume that over time it will only improve and the day will come when it will be impossible to distinguish artificial intelligence on the screen from a real person. source: https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/the-first-artificial-tv-presenter-debuted-in-china/ |
https://realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/-000//1/foldable-2-650x437.jpg The South Korean giant Samsung, as a rule, presents its new products either at major international exhibitions, or organizes dedicated events for these purposes. Organized by the Samsung Developers Conference, in turn, has traditionally not been of any interest to the average consumer. It brings together developers who are shown new software products and tools with which they can create new software products. But this time the conference promised to become something special, because for a week in a row before it, Samsung was actively hinting at what the long-awaited emerging smartphone would show. A smartphone, more precisely, a certain semblance of a device with such a name was indeed shown, but it can be said with confidence that people were not waiting for such a presentation. The company began with stories about its plans for conquering the application market, announcing that the digital platform of the virtual voice assistant Bixby presented a year and a half ago will be open to third-party developers. Samsung itself during this time has integrated the digital assistant into the most diverse products of its own design, ranging from smartphones and televisions to refrigerators. Now, this opportunity will be provided to third-party developers who can implement the Bixby system in their hardware, thereby having the opportunity to create their own ecosystem of products. In the near future, Samsung also plans to increase the number of languages supported by Bixby, adding German, Italian and Spanish to the list. In addition, a native localized version of Bixby for Spain and the UK will appear. These localizations were already available, but only for the US market. Following the story about the digital assistant, the device was shown, remotely resembling a folding smartphone. Based on what was shown at the conference and as it was shown (in dim light), the device is still at a very early stage of development, because when folded it literally looks like a small brick with an external display. Something similar was already in the framework of one of the MWC exhibitions, when we were shown a prototype of the device, which later turned into a Galaxy S8 (though not immediately). The device can be deployed. For this, Samsung came up with a new technology, which is called the Infinity Flex Display. In the unfolded state, the gadget sports a big, rather, mini-tablet, rather than a phone, square screen of 7.3 inches. During the demonstration, it was shown that the device can simultaneously display up to three applications. This feature is realized through software technology, which Samsung calls a “multi active window” (multi active window). Source: https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/samsung-has-shown-a-folding-smartphone/ |
https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/mass.jpg In the modern world, when scientists are daily developing new technologies in the field of medicine, space and military affairs, even the slightest deviation from the standards of the international system of units of SI can cause a catastrophe. In order for all countries to support a single idea of the weight of a kilogram, the length of a meter and the properties of other quantities, their standards are stored in France, and all countries are compared by copy. If the standards of the meter and the second are the fundamental laws of physics, then per kilogram is a piece of metal. To avoid problems, scientists intend to abandon the standard of the XIX century. The actual kilogram level was created in 1889. It is stored at the headquarters of the International Bureau for Measurement and Measurement (BIPM) and is a cylinder made of an alloy of platinum and iridium in a ratio from 90% to 10%. With a height and diameter of 39.17 mm, it is stored under two hermetic glass caps and is often mentioned in the publications of Le Grand K. Le Grand K To compare the concepts of kilogram between countries that have adopted a metric convention, 80 copies of the standard were created. Their mass is compared with the standard mass every 40 years, and it was noticed that the difference in their mass reaches 50 micrograms. Even a misunderstanding between countries at this level can be a source of disaster. The reason for the difference can be any, for example, the absorption of molecules by molecules from the air or weathering. To solve the problem and avoid disasters, the Bureau of the BIPM will hold a special meeting on November 16, 2018. Within its framework, a final decision will be made on whether the replacement of the current standard will be more moderate. https://realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/-000//1/Phablet-650x975.png Scientists from the Human Media Lab at Korolev University have created a prototype touch device that is neither a smartphone nor a tablet, but has features of both. The MagicScroll device (“magic scroll”) was created under the impression of ancient scrolls (from papyrus, paper or parchment) and has a rolled up cylindrical form factor - with a flexible 7.5-inch touchscreen placed in the case. A new form factor, which was made using 3D printing, means that the device can be used as the old Rolodex (remember this?) To quickly switch contacts on the screen by rotating the physical wheel built into the edge of the device. (One such at each end). Then, when more information or a deeper dive is required, the user can expand the screen and expand the displayed display. The flexible screen of the prototype has a resolution of 2K. So at this stage it will be a mid-level mobile phone, not an iPhone with a Retina, of course. Telephone scroll: in memory of the ancient Egyptians? Scientists also believe that the scroll form factor offers a pleasant ergonomic option for making real phone calls, because a rolled-up scroll can fit snugly to your face. Although they recognize that the prototype is quite large at this stage, it is pleasant to hold it in my hand, recalling the massive mobile phones of the 1980s. Sort of a classic 1984 Motorola 8000X Dynatac. Despite the awkwardness of the prototype, the team claims that the cylindrical flexible form factor has its advantages: it is easier to hold it with one hand than any iPad. And if you roll it up, it will take off in your pocket (albeit in a large one). They also believe that this device is possible for dictation or instructions, not only as a voice telephone. A camera is built into the prototype, allowing you to control the device with gestures similar to the Nintendo Wiimote gestural system. Also, robotized drives were added to the rotational wheels so that the screen could rotate independently, if needed. “We were inspired by the design of the ancient scrolls, because their shape provides a more natural, continuous presentation of long visual graphs,” says Roel Vertegaal, a professor of human-computer interaction and the laboratory director. “Another source of inspiration was the old Rolodex systems, which were used to store and view contact cards. Scrolling MagicScroll allows you to rotate the scroll indefinitely and view long lists. Expand the scroll - and get a complete picture of the selected object. You can waste your time on Instagram, messages or contacts on LinkedIn this way. ” “In the end, we hope to develop a device that can curl up into something small, like a pen, which can be put in a breast pocket,” he adds. “More broadly, the MagicScroll project also allows us to further explore the notion that“ screens may not be flat, ”or“ anything can be a screen. ” Whether it's a cup with an interactive screen or a display on clothes, we study how objects can become applications. ” Read More Source: https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/created-touch-screen-tablet-which-can-be-twisted-into-a-roll/ |

https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/-000//1/komputer-650x365-300x168.jpg Today, supercomputers are used for a wide range of tasks: from various mathematical calculations and processing of arrays of data to modeling pharmaceutical compounds and the work of artificial intelligence. However, there are computers aimed at the most accurate reproduction of the “architecture” of the human brain. And the most powerful today such neuromorphic supercomputer was recently launched for the first time. This computer is called Spiking Neural Network Architecture (SpiNNaker) and it can perform more than 200 million operations per second, and each of the microchips has 100 million parts. The machine is assembled on the basis of the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester and 15 million pounds was spent on this project. But this amount is not as impressive as the time it took to develop: the concept of a supercomputer was studied for 20 years and another 10 years was required for assembly. one of the project’s ideologists, computer technology professor Steve Furber, stated “SpiNNaker completely changes the way computers work. In fact, we created a machine that works more like a brain than a traditional computer, which is extremely interesting. The ultimate goal of our project has always been to use a billion cores in a single computer that simulates the brain and today we have achieved this goal. And this is just fantastic. ” It is worth noting that even despite the fact that “a real artificial brain” has earned, the number of nuclei that is in it now is simulated by the brain, which is equivalent to 1% of the human. https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/facebook.jpg Since 2004, Facebook has claimed that it wants people on earth to be closer to each other. To achieve this goal, the company relied for the most part on applications for the web and smartphones. But software alone is not enough. On Monday, Facebook introduced a pair of video call devices – Portal and Portal Plus – to expand its influence in the living room people. Portal and Portal Plus with 12-megapixel cameras and artificial intelligence can be used for video chats. The camera, which uses AI algorithms, monitors the user’s movements, allowing him to communicate without constraint. The devices also include Alexa from Amazon, who can check the weather or pick up the music. Is the future here? The 10-inch Portal will sell for $ 199, and another model with a 15-inch swivel display for $ 349. Facebook plans to offer devices on a separate site, and will also launch a vigorous marketing campaign. These devices are Facebook’s first serious attempt to break into the design, creation and sale of user equipment from scratch. If Portals is successful, the company will be able to get more people to use its social network on an ongoing basis so that they can communicate with friends and family, as well as applications like Spotify and Pandora. And yet, worse than the moment Facebook could not choose. After two years of scandals, she will advertise a skeptical public to Portal and Portal Plus. Last year, the company talked about a security breach, as a result of which at least 50 million user accounts were compromised, and along with them, along with numerous third-party applications. To address the privacy concerns of Portal and Portal Plus, Facebook said that the products include an electronic switch for the front camera, as well as lens coating. In addition, video calls are encrypted, and the artificial intelligence of the camera works on the device itself, and not on Facebook servers. The company said that the usefulness of devices operating on a home Wi-Fi connection will convince people of the importance of their presence in the house. The devices are built on the Facebook Messenger platform, and communication software is linked to the network of Facebook users. As soon as Portal connects to your Messenger account, people can call up video chatting with anyone, be it Portal, tablet, smartphone, or computer. “It’s all about bringing people together,” says Dave Kaufman, a product marketing leader. Facebook is entering a highly competitive market. Voice-guided smart speakers, which are embodied in a separate category, thanks to Amazon’s Echo, introduced in 2015, is still a small market, but growing. In the past quarter, manufacturers shipped 16.8 million smart speakers (this is 187% more than in the same period last year). Amazon and Google dominate the US smart speaker market. In China, Alibaba and Xiaomi are rapidly gaining momentum. Over the past two years, smart speakers have evolved and started to include screens for video conferencing, video and applications. Last year, Amazon introduced Echo Show, its first Echo with display, and Lenovo teamed up with Google this year to create a smart screen based on Google Assistant. Google should also introduce its own smart screen this year. Read More... |
https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/enhance-feedback-robot.jpg Following the Meaning of android “a robot with a human appearance” has now graduated from been ordinary software based, Your smartphone can now behave like real robot with Robotic finger that will enhance feedback. What happens if you combine the Addams Family with the Black Mirror? It will turn out to be something like what Mark Theissier, the researcher, presented on the interaction between computers and people. Every day we tap on the screen of our mobile devices, maybe it’s time to give them the opportunity to poke us back? With this in mind, Mark Theissier developed the MobiLimb robotic finger, connecting to your smartphone and enhancing the feedback with the device. The robotic finger works on the basis of five servo drives PZ-15320, providing sufficient power to support the weight of the smartphone (130 grams). Contact force can be up to 0.8 N. The case is made of plastic printed on a 3D printer. The finger connects to the device on the principle of “plug and play.” It can be used as a stand, a pen, and also as a notification device (for example, a text message came to the phone, a finger would tap on the table). Feedback is provided through finger motions created by servos. In addition, a flexible potentiometer determines the user’s touch. As a control element, the Arduino Leonardo Pro Micro microcontroller is used here. The last phalanx of the finger has a modular design that allows you to connect to it other sensors, LED-LEDs and more. Android / Unity API has been developed to control and interact with the robotic finger. The latter allows you to create, record and play animations. In addition, for the robotic finger created several options for coverage. The first looks like a standard robotic plastic shell. The other mimics the look of a human finger and is made of high-grade silicone Plastil Gel-10, used in the film industry to create artificial limbs and skin. There are also options in the form of various tails, allowing a new way to perceive the images displayed on the smartphone screen. source: https://www.realgeeks.com.ng/smartphones-can-now-touch-you-back-when-you-touch-them/ |
