Politics › Why Lagos Is A No Mans Land by cybertyrant(op): 6:02am On Aug 24, 2015*. Modified: 6:01am On Aug 25, 2015 |
In recent times yoruba residents have stood up to claim that yoruba owns lagos, but the question is, why did the government give it such a name? In a country, what the government say is likely to be what the people say, when lagos was nicknamed no mans land, why didnt they oppose the name how they are doing today. Is it because certain tribes (especially igbos) have helped developed lagos into a city, and they have made money from the population and investments in lagos, now lagos city is going to a higher level, why not let the tribes that help build it live in it as one nigeria. Another city is been built over a decade now called eko atlantic, the immediate rejection of other tribes investing in such an environment is an abomination by them, thinking that the igbos will buy 70% of the land or own 70% of properties there, the now tend to protest against another tribe buying properties there, i taught we are one nigeria. I was watching news and a yoruba resident said he came from togo or so, those it mean that we are catering for another extra population from togo and benin, early this month was migrants from togo and benin, why is that so? MY QUESTION IS SIMPLE 1- what was the original name of lagos before the benin conquered it and named it eko( meaning farm or field) ? 2-what were the original yoruba name for victoria island ? 3-why is it that lagos is 60% yoruba, 30% igbo, and 10% other tribes, ? I thought that as indigenes u ar supposed to be 90% to 95%. 4-why is that the oba of lagos is from a banished ancestor from benin kingdom?
I will be very much glad if you answer the questions
And also please, tell me why there is no letter "Z" in yoruba language. Does it mean they are nt complete?
The yoruba empire must be big to have stretched from ghana to benin to togo to nigeria, why no actualize that empire, destined to be the giant of africa.
Defend ur self with facts PLEASE |

Politics › Re: Response To How The Yoruba Can Deal With The Igbo by cybertyrant(m): 2:50pm On Aug 20, 2015 |
NewNigeriaMind: My good friend suggest Yoruba begin a mass migration to the east. The only problem with that is......
WHY WILL A YORUBA MAN GO TO THE EAST WHEN THE IGBO MAN IS RUNNING FROM THE EAST.
I need an honest answer, what will the Yoruba man go look for in the east when everything he needs and the opportunities he needs are in his homeland. WHY will Dele leave Lagos for Anambra state when the Anambrians call his Lagos obodo oyinbo in Africa?
Seriously we are not migrating to the east, God forbid it, that evil will never come to pass. Is the Igbo man trying to exchange hos SE for my SW?
Yorubas really need to watch these Igbo people.
The best schools are the west The best health centres are in the west The richest Nigerians are in the west and made in the west, name the rich man, if you are not made in Lagos you are broke. The best opportunities are in the west.
The Igbo can continue their mass migration to the west, that migration pattern will not reciprocated by the Yoruba. we don't need Oba of Yoruba Nnewi titles, God forbid it.
People go to places where their lot will be better. The God of greatness and success is a Yoruba man, that is why every tribe must migrate to yourba land bro its lagos nt sw, how can u expect me to go to hunger striken osun state and neighbors, first of all lagos from 1900 to 2015 is no mans land. and mind u,igbos made lagos wat it is today |

raumdeuter: SAGAMU
In mid July 1999, there was a major clash between Hausa and Yoruba in Sagamu, Ogun State. Scores of people were killed. The violence began following an argument over customs observed during the Oro festival, an annual Yoruba event which had not been disrupted by any disputes either before or since 1999. Yoruba and Hausa had agreed to respect a traditional night-time curfew usually observed during the festival. However, according to local residents, a fight erupted between the Yoruba and the Hausa after a Hausa woman was killed by a group of Yoruba because she had broken the curfew. The fighting escalated and the OPC intervened to support the Yoruba. Both sides were armed. At least sixty-eight Hausa were killed, including three boys between the ages of ten and fifteen; some were killed with guns, but the majority were killed with cutlasses. |
