Jobs/Vacancies › After Degrees, 3 Qualities You Need To Meet Industry Expectations by cyberwaver(op): 2:49pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
A Latin maxim says “Nemo dat quod non habet”, you can’t give what you don’t have. It is more succinctly and invariably affirmed with the doctrine of garbage in garbage out. There is no gainsaying the fact that value is earned and achieved and until you have it, you cannot offer it. In times past, possession of Degree certificates and its likes was the mainstay and the sole ticket for job employment. Captains of industries did not blink their eyes neither did they lose sleep because the quality of Education was of great standard and comparable with that of Europe and America. Fast forward to this era, the crave for degrees is now intense while the value continues to nosedive. We ‘struggle’ to get these Certificates at the expense of the expected value content. When weighed on a scale, these certificates far outweigh their expected value underlying with the bearer(s) i.e the ability trait. Practical examples are the shambolic performances we experience daily in our Job interviews. It underscores the extent to which our educational system and values has eroded away and drifted from being value oriented to certificate oriented. This continued embarrassment has made employers of labour to shift the goal post in other to stay afloat in the competitive global market as we are aware that an intelligent and vibrant workforce is a value laden asset to any organization for growth and success sustainability. The hurdles of shortlisting, job tests and interviews is an arduos task no organization wants to be seen as an activity in futility. Therefore, they have unwritten and clear expectations desired beyond that your degree certificate. Once you have them, be assured of a place on their table of men. These 3 necessary qualities that are subject to test are; 1. Persuasiveness This is your ability or power of conviction, i.e convincing someone to believe in you and the stuff you are made of. The Cover letter or Expression of interest is your window of opportunity to perfect thus art. In writing this, you need to tailor your career objective with the company/organization’s Vision and Mission. Tell them how much you know about them and their manpower needs and how you stand as the suitable one to fill the gap. Capture their interest with your past working experience in similar or diverse capacity. Where there is none, think of those non-profitable services or work you did in your youth and students associations, and NYSC group or personal CDS. Those experiences count. Be firm to make that bold statement ‘I am the right Candidate’ with convincing points. It will register in their conscious minds that you possess the persuasive skill to attract business deals, contracts, and to build PRs. 2. Ambition Its becoming a general belief that showing or expression of Ambition to Employers kills ones chances. The reverse is the case here, Ambition in this context goes beyond the wishful thinking of ‘I want/intend to become a Director in the next 5 or 10 years’ when asked what you want to become in the foreseeable future in the organization. What then expresses your Ambition better? It is the additional values or what I call the marginal value you’ve added to yourself aside your degree certificate. It is that your NIM, HSE, PMP, ICAN, ACAA, and Computer Proficiency and all other Institutes’ Programmes Proficiency Certificates you got trained and certified in. Multiple evidences that summarizes your ability in one bit is what they seek. So if you are lacking in all of these proficiency skills/knowlegde without having one or two, you will pass easily as one without any AMBITION and one who is less hungry for success and self development. As Christopher Morley puts it “There are three ingredients in the good life, learning, earning and yearning” So if you wish to be a valuable asset to your prospective workplace, show disposition to learning and yearning, seek to add more value to yourself so as to stand out as that beautiful bride. 3. Smartness The most important attitude and quality that drives success is smartness. It cuts across brilliance to dine with wisdom and intelligence. A colleague of mine once asked me teasingly where I prepared my ‘medicine’ for hardwork that I always get commended at work. In response, I told him simply that I don’t work hard rather I work smart. By working smart, I told him that I think ahead and devise means to ease the workloads for myself. Job aptitude tests are primarily, test of smartness than of knowledge. They are usually power tests with incommensurate time duration. Be informed that you are not expected to attempt all the questions neither are you expected to answer the questions in sequential order. Its interesting to note that the test items are usually mixed up with items of High difficulty index and low difficulty index. Those with high difficulty index usually have high distracter index. Don’t waste your time fiddling around the difficult test items as they are meant to distract you while time ticks away. Take on the ones you are most knowledgeable with and hit the mark. The time duration always allotted is usually enough for the number of questions you need to answer to hit the expected mark. Be smart. Also, during interview sessions, sell yourself by asking smart question whenever the panel demands for any. If you are caught up in the web of ‘how do I ask smart questions in an interview?’ George Bernard Shaw has this to say on the power of questions “Some men see things as they are, and say, ‘why? I dream of things that never were and say, why not?” So tailor your question in the light of George Bernard Shaws submission. Remember to ‘wash’ it when you land that job and parcel my bottle of Nestle water to my dormot. Phones › Re: Buying Used Android Phone In Nigeria What You Must Check by cyberwaver(op): 1:22pm On Jan 07, 2016 |
kayswag726: COPIED....
What you should check before buying used phones in Nigeria. Buying of used mobile phones is very common in Nigeria and many people likes buying used mobile phones because of many reasons such as; it is less expensive,cannot afford new models and many other reasons best known to them. In Nigeria mobile market Android phones are the top selling products both in new and used ones which makes it movable for people to buy, gone are the days when Nokia java phones used to rule the market but now Android does and their are many company producing android phones and they are Tecno, InnJoo, Xiaomi, Samsung,HTC and many of them.
Now back to our Topic “buying of used mobile phones” lets take android phones as our main point of reference because is the most used phone in Nigeria forget about IPhone, how many people are using the device they are not up to half of the people using android phones, well we are not here to make comparisons but to hint you what you must check before buying android phones if I may say. These are the features you must check before buying a (android) mobile phone;
R.A.M . :- RAM is the abbreviation of Random Access Memory, as a person not familiar with technological terms you are going to be wondering that what is a RAM, OK RAM (random access memory ) is the place in a computer where the operating system, application programs, and data in current use are kept so that they can be quickly reached by the computer’s processor, that is the real definition of RAM. For the device to process large files it must have sufficient space especially android phones, it is true that most Nigerians like to install numerous applications on their phone and you can take time to read the list of 10 popular android apps used by android users in Nigeria , it is most advisable to have at least 1GB RAM memory but now i can see many phones are having 2GB RAM memory which is very good but if can’t afford 2GB RAM memory phones then 1GB is also good to have. Someone asked me that since my phone has low RAM can’t i buy a memory card to boost its efficiency? I replied him that RAM is inbuilt (built with the phone) and it is the main storage location for easy use of the phone. Some characteristics you will notice when your mobile phone RAM is very low are; Hanging of the phone during use,slow booting,slow multi- tasking and might also contract malware that can totally destroy the phone. You can check the RAM of n android phone by: 1. Click the menu icon on the home screen 2. Locate settings and click on it 3. Locate storage and click on it 4. Check the RAM and other related information available on the screen.
OPERATING SYSTEM :- This property is most applicable to android phones; their operating system ranges version from 1.5 (cupcake- 6. 0(marshmallow), you should check the operating system because some android apps on Google playstore are dependent on the version of the operating system you are using, you would ask why? things are developing and systems are upgrading and you should upgrade along to benefit from the upgrade that is the short answer, right now operating system 6.0 (marshmallow) is the current operating system. This is the list of the various Android versions available now; -CupCake: Android 1.5 -Donut: Android 1.6 -Eclair: Android 2.0,Android 2.1 -Froyo: (short for “frozen yogurt” )Android 2.2 -Gingerbread:Android 2.3 -Honeycomb:Android 3.0,Android 3.1,Android 3.2 -Ice Cream Sandwich:Android 4.0 -Jelly Bean:Android 4.1,Android 4.2,Android 4.3 -KitKat:Android 4.4 -Lollipop:Android 5.0,Android 5.1 -Marshmallow:Android 6.0 Now the question is which Operating system will you recommend for me? The operating system I would definitely recommend for you if you want to buy a phone whether used or new is to get a kit Kat 4.4 OS version or a Lollipop 5.0,5.1, someone would ask that why would you recommend Kitkat where 6.0 marshmallow is available, well with what i think rushing into an update is weird thing to do while other ones are still available, why not wait for marshmallow to be stable before dashing into it. You can also buy Marshmallow versions if you so wish but it is recommended to dine with the existing one for now. How do I check the operating system for android phones 1. Click the menu icon on the home screen 2. Locate Settings in the menu and click it 3. Locate About phone in the listed menu and click it 4. You are done. Everything about the phone is listed their including the device model.
PHYSICAL COMPONENTS :- When it comes to buying android devices you have to check the physical components such as the body parts,the screens and other broken parts. You have to carefully check the neatness and the reason you should check it is to avoid unnecessary expenses, grade the physical components to the amount you are going to pay for the phone. Don’t let anyone you fool you that the broken screen means nothing it means something because you might pay much for screen changing.
FUNCTIONS :- Check some certain functions like the speakers, easy operation, camera strength, Bluetooth (if applicable), Wi-Fi and many more. You should check the speed of the phone in doing certain functions. One thing you should know before buying used phone is that there is no warranty so you have to check its properties and don’t pay before verifying the properties. Cc: Lalasticlala Seun Ishielove |

afrideo: Pls if you might be able to advise, facebook is not picking my correct thumbnail for my wordpres post. What do i do to resolve this Yes the problem is that Facebook and other social media always show thumbnail of resolution of at least 200x200 , if your image is lesser than that it will be hard for your thumbnail to show along with the shared post . All you need is to enlarge your images to that size then it will be picked. Try that and let me know of any other issue am happy to help. |

Importing your content to a new blog with a different domain name? if it is a different domain name then you have to redirect that old blog domain name to the new one after importing your content maybe 301 redirect, your adsense will be safe. |
