Nigeria is a country with over 371 ethnic groups according to Wikipedia and the subject of tribes and culture is a very controversial one. Due to the socio-political and economic climate in Nigeria, so much emphasis has been placed on tribes and culture in almost every facet of our existence as a nation.

Nevertheless, inter-marriages are still trending events where many Nigerians with disregard for the happenings in the country still go ahead to inter-marry. Do you really think it is fair for someone to marry from your tribe? is your culture accommodating?

Marriage is a lovely institution that deserves serious consideration. Every tribe in Nigeria is different and has characteristics that may draw people to them or keep them apart when it comes to marriage.

First, it is important that we put up this disclaimer that in our way is this post promoting tribalism but is rather based on some personal opinion based on personal experiences and exposures. Culture is an important aspect of our daily living as it influences our identity and way of life and it is not uncommon for parents in Nigeria to influence their choice of partners for their children based on tribes and cultures in other to protect them from whatever they deem may be harmful to them.

Even though civilization has influenced our way of life, the question of tribe and culture always comes up when most Nigerian choose to settle down or choose a life partner. And if you are still searching for the best tribe to marry from in Nigeria, The curated YouTube video below be a very good guide for you

Enjoy watching.
Nairaland / General / Why Do Nigerians Worship These Men With Obsession As God? by cyntaenese: 5:24am On Apr 12, 2023

According to an article by Premium Times of Nigeria, Nigerians are by nature deeply religious people. I stumbled on the curated YouTube video above which claims to reveal 100+ politically influential Nigerian men of God with mega-churches and the questions I have in mind is; "are these men of God or servants of religion in Nigeria? And if they are (or not), why do Nigerians love to worship these men?

Why do Nigerians still hold onto acclaimed spiritual or religious beliefs becoming highly susceptible to indoctrination and religious discrimination? The universal conviction that there is a person or something that is responsible for their existence in this world and that is worthy of their prayers, worship, and veneration persists regardless of their degrees of education or intelligence.

Being the opium of the people, religion is undoubtedly one of the most organized and successful types of legal dishonesty. And this opportunity is being seized by any individual who claims to be called by God and are benefiting from it economically, politically, and socially.

On his epic album, Suffering and Smiling, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, a blood relative of Wole Soyinka (through the latter's mother, Grace Eniola, a descendant of J.J. Ransome Kuti of the Kuti family in Abeokuta), crooned melodiously: "Suffer suffer for world, amen/enjoy for heaven, amen." He sang, "Archbishop na miliki/Pope na enjoyment/Imam na gbaladun," which blasted religious hypocrisy and credulity.

Do you consider any of the above-listed men of God in the YouTube video as existentially real or fake or who among them do you consider a true man (or men) of God? Do you have any experience with any of these men you can share or do you believe that there is any true man of God in Nigeria? How can you help anyone identify a true man of God?

According to another article on Daily Post Nigeria, "Most persons who call themselves pastors or men of God are not, according to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, a former National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, because they were not initially called by God"

Religion / Are These 100+ Listed Pastors Men Of God Or Antichrist? by cyntaenese: 4:34pm On Apr 09, 2023
Hello Nairalanders,

I came across these YouTube video below titled " 100+ Most Politically Influential Men Of God With Mega Churches in Nigeria". I could not help but laugh while going through the list.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_1QuGVZYag&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00" type="[/flash]

Some of these listed men are very controversial, gained wealth through dubious means. Some have made many abandon Christianity into apostacy. This begs the question. Who is a true man of God and what does it take to be a man of God? Are these men of God or Gods of men? is there a single man of God in Nigeria?

Haven seen first hand how most of them acquired their wealth plus the political aspiration of some of them going about heavy duty security details that can intimated to to pollical brass of the country yet acting as they are above criticism, one could only wonder if their title befits them.

Nairaland / General / How Much Does It Costs To Raise A Child In Nigeria For Parents Who Care? by cyntaenese: 9:01pm On Mar 26, 2023
The cost of education is at its highest now more than ever even in Nigeria today where a lot of measures have been tactically put in place to aid and raise the standard of education and level of literacy per individual. Nowadays, parents borrow money to pay for their kids' education, particularly for college degrees. It doesn't indicate that education is still as important as it once was, particularly in Nigeria today.

According to the Commission of Investigation into the Education System of Nigeria Report from 2000, the average annual cost of attending school in Nigeria for families is roughly 50% of the overall cost, including other indirect charges. Poor families who are unable to pay the required school fees in accordance with the government fees guidelines and the additional fees that are not covered are heavily burdened by this. GoK (2004) claims that wearing a uniform makes every student an equal. As a result, individuals who cannot afford it should not feel inferior to or excluded from society. Their participation is impacted, and some students decide to withdraw.

The Enterprise Solution

Enterprise Life, the leading life assurance company in Anglo West Africa with a strategic partnership with Prudential Financial Incorporated of the USA has come up with an ADVANTAGE for Nigerian parents who have shown great care for the education of their children. This Solution is the "CHILD EDUCARE PLA"

The Solution intents to help parents set some funds aside to cater for the educational expenses of their wards which provides both a target savings, investment component and life assurance benefits.

Parents can set aside as low as N5000 Monthly for a minimum period of 5 years. This policy can cover as much as 6 children from 0-21 years. This policy comes with a return on investment and a "LIFE COVER' meaning your child education is not affected in your presence or absence if the policy holder dies or becomes permanently disabled.

This Policy comes with benefits such as

Unemployment Bridging:
this means this policy remain active for a period of 12 months if the policy holder is out of job or income.

Partial Withdrawal: The policy Holder is allowed to make partial withdrawal in the investment once after 3 year

No Premium Benefit: This benefit means that in a situation where the Policy holder dies or is rendered permanently disabled, Enterprise Life on behalf of the policy holder ensures that the investment are still contributed until the end of the chosen term.

This ChildCare Policy help you as a parent to have a dedicated and disciplined target saving with return on investment and a life cover for their wards.

Religion / Jesus Christ Of Oyingbo ( Jesu Oyingbo) : Meet The Nigerian Jesus Christ by cyntaenese: 12:58am On Feb 26, 2023
In the 1959 declaration, he proclaimed that, “I am He. I am Jesus Christ, the very one whose second coning was foretold in the New Testament. I have come and those who believe in me will have an everlasting life and joy. I am the missing of the trinity. I have come to prepare the faithful for the judgment day.”

As a result of its proximity to the market, the membership of Jesu Oyingbo’s church, the Universal College of Regeneration (UCR), witnessed a huge upsurge in numbers. And, to induct new male members, Immanuel would whip them with a cane nine times each. Presumably, this was a cane inherited from his traditional herbalist grandfather, Joseph Odumosu.

Immanuel Olufunmilayo Odumosu later relocated from his well known abode and place of worship centre in Oyingbo to Maryland in Ikeja, Lagos, but the name Jesu Oyingbo stuck to him. In Maryland, he was still Jesu Oyingbo, and all the adherents of his religious faith continued to live a communal life in an enclave, which had nursery, primary and secondary schools.

There were numerous wives, as much as about 80, according to some accounts. The long drawn out legal tussles saw the sprawling estate become hideouts for urchins and criminals, and tenants of his properties, who were as many as 2,000, refused to pay their rents. The empire, which some of his adherents believed would resurrect in 1998, 10 years after the demise of Jesu Oyingbo, failed to resurrect.
