Abiola Ajimobi, governor of Oyo state, has asked the authorities to arrest him if they find him wanting of misappropriation at the expiration of his tenure in 18 days.

Ajimobi made the comments on Thursday at a public lecture and fellowship investiture organised by Society for Peace Studies and Practice at the Subomi Balogun Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

He said: “We will work till the last day of this administration. We don’t care about what some people are saying all about… As I am talking to you today, this administration still has 18 days and some hours to expire.

“When they get there, let them cancel all the contracts we have signed. Let them investigate us and if we have stolen, they should arrest us.”

“We have given our best to the state and we will continue to do this. The feats recorded by our administration placed Oyo as one of the five safest havens of investment in the country.

“We are also the fourth investment-friendly state in Nigeria according to the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics; with a four-star rating for investment friendliness by the Nigerian Export Promotions Commission.”

In March, Seyi Makinde, the incoming governor, accused Ajimobi of awarding N30 billion worth of contracts in a single day.

He vowed to review all the contracts signed by the outgoing governor when he takes over.

Heavy rain in Bayelsa has led to flooding that wreaked havoc in so many communities, but some communities have been "blessed" by the flood.
A photo being circulated online purportedly shows villagers rejoicing after the flood washed large fishes into their community. The villagers reportedly plan to sell the fish.

On the flip side, residents along the Epie Creek in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, who were adversely affected by the flood have bemoaned their loss and the discomfort caused them by floods that submerged their houses.
It was gathered that the water levels rose beyond tolerable limits and wreaked havoc on houses, the environment, and properties of some residents. Due to the development, some residents were said to have temporarily relocated from their homes to seek refuge in other places.

As the quest for the 2019 presidential election and other elective offices heats up, a front-line business man, Chief John Francis Igwe, from Enugu State, has joined the race to fly the presidential flag under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Igwe, who made his intention known in Abuja, recently, through the spokesperson of his support group, Mr. Mbama Mac Anthony, told his supporters that his decision to run on the platform of the APC is divine and that his campaign mantra is “It is settled.”

Senate President Bukola Saraki, today reinstated his decision not to step down as the president of the senate. Recall that his former party, APC, has insisted that since his defection to the PDP, it would be honorable for him to relinquish the senate president's seat for a member of the APC. The party chairman, Adams Oshiomole, has repeatedly stated that if Saraki does not resign honorably, he would be impeached.

Hon. Taiwo Fatiregun who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Action Democratic Party, ADP, was allegedly attacked by political thugs said to be his subordinates who felt aggrieved by his defection.

The former APC caretaker chairman in Oriade Local Government area of Osun State – was beaten mericlessly by the yet-to-be identified attackers.

The thugs fled after breaking his head. Hon. Taiwo Fatiregun is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

This unfortunate incident is coming just about 48 hours after another APC local government chairman was shot dead, few days after his emergence. Shedding of blood is a danger to the society.

Why are some people so cruel and wicked to their fellow humans? The guys who did this are just heartless, to say the least.

As you read this, doctors are battling to save the life of a female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) doing her one-year mandatory service.

She's serving in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The corps member was reportedly assaulted and r*ped by a 15-man gang of robbers. The robbers invaded the ‘Corpers Lodge’ at Yenizue Gene, a suburb of Yenagoa, about 3a.m. yesterday.

It was learnt that the armed robbers overpowered the neighbourhood vigilantes who are usually armed with only sticks and machetes. Emboldened, the hoodlums reportedly went to the NYSC Corpers Lodge where they forcibly took away a female corps member.

According to a resident of the community, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the lady was repeatedly r*ped by the hoodlums who took her in turns.

She was later taken to the hospital for treatment.

Sources say though the police were alerted, there was little they could do because the area had been thrown into darkness due to power outage. A vigilante, who gave his name simply as Tonye, said the security men were afraid of running into an ambush.

For now indigenes of Yenizue Gene, who have been complacent over the issue of security, are contemplating forming a vigilance group to tackle crime in their community.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Asinim Butswat told New Telegraph that he had not got a clear information about the incident.

The former Security Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government, Chief Perekeme Richard Kpodo, has been accused of rape and unlawful detention of one Teke Blessing in his hotel in Etegwe, Yenagoa, Bayelsa.

The incident allegedly occurred on the 20th of June, 2018 and he was arraigned today at the Yenagoa magistrate.

He, however, pleaded not guilty and was ordered to be remanded in Okaka prison till the 10th of August, 2018, for hearing on bail application.

An armed robber was set ablaze today after himself after his accomplice, who managed to escape, shot a lady dead outside a commercial bank at the Suru-Alaba area in Lagos.
According to an eyewitness who sent in the photos, two men tried to rob the deceased lady as she stepped out of the bank and shot her in the head before trying to steal her money. Fortunately, passersby where fast enough to apprehend one of them. They beat him and set him on fire.
The body of the deceased lady has been deposited in the morgue.

Earlier today, it was reported that a car was swept away by the flood and three of its four occupants were rescued alive.
A video showing the road divided into two as a result of the flood has now been shared online. In the clip, cars are seen trying to avoid the gaping opening along the centre of the streets. One car had a lucky escape as some parts of the road broke off just after it passed.

The incident happened yesterday at Mgbemena Street in Awada, Onitsha, Anambra State. The area where this happened is a residential area with houses lining the streets and with the way the opening in the middle of the street keeps widening, it is clear the occupants of the houses are at risk.

A man escaped lynching in Bahati, Nakuru, Kenya, on Wednesday after a mob accosted him for bestiality. John Mwaura, 29, was reportedly caught pants down after he sneaked in the compound to engage in the unnatural act with a neighbour's cow.

On being pressed by the locals, the bachelor confessed to having committed the act saying this was the fifth cow he had accosted sexually. "It is not my first time. I have had sex with four other cows in Ndunduri and Wanyororo. I am pleading for mercy," he said.

The owner, who had gone to the farm to harvest her crops, came back and found the man zipping up his pair of trousers. The woman descended on him with blows, stones, and sticks, leaving him with critical injuries.

"Don't kill me...let me surrender my piece of land to pay for the cow," Mwaura said. "I always have sex with the cow whenever I feel like because I fear girls might infect me with HIV."

The man further said he is not married adding that he was overwhelmed by the urge to have sex. On Thursday, He pleaded guilty to the offense in court before Nakuru Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo The case will be mentioned again on July 26, 2018.
