I know you will most likely argue till eternity but your guilt and greed coupled with deception is evident for all to see , if I were to ask you , if I did same thing to you how will you feel . And you cant feign you didnt know I was selling it for a client because I stipulated it there in the chat . Oga this thing you are saying is not making sense at all, for instance, I reached out to Macbeyland for a deal and when he directed me to his shop I couldn't go so I told my buyer to go to the shop, picked up the deal and paid the full amount into his account later he refunded me my mark up because there was a stated fee on the ad and I paid the full fee plus extra so the extra came back to me.

The thing is, a middleman can make any amount off a deal so long the buyer and seller doesn't feel shortchanged

I even paid him his asking price o , and he cant say he wasn't aware of the fact that the excess was my profit. All he did was to avoid responsibility for his deception and he thought the best possible thing to do was to use the money I stood to gain as sacrificial lamb to appease the buyer .

This is a client that brings me deals almost every week , the truth is his actions is more damaging that what he perceives or he's aware of , I one just quiet , I can screenshot request for device that person has requested for every week for the past two months I even got him a 12 pro he received yesterday lekbel can testify to that and as I priced lekbel reach when he saw the extra he just smiled and said they you don see your profit now and he sent me my share without fuss . This is the first time I'm having such an issue with anyone here .

Mr I rarely tell sellers that I am adding something to the actual amount of any deal before transacting with them, and every single time they have given me my share and some have occasionally gifted me more even without me asking , why will your case be different, moreover you knew it was the profit I stood to gain that was why you were emphasizing it every given opportunity , that I stood to make 20k profit.

Another quesyion unrelated if I wasn't from nairaland is that how you would have easily ripped me off , you knew the 20k was my profit you emphasized it on the chat and
Even said that was why I didny do my due diligence because I was greedy . Now 10k you not fit provide , should I have written a formal letter explaining every nitty gritty or called a Lawyer to draft a legally binding contract because I wanna deal with you.

And also he should send me all the correspondence he had with the buyer a because that is very important to me , to know how best to resolve issues with him .

Thanks a lot everybody that has spoken , especially my boss wildchild who advised me from the onset on the steps to take .

The salient thing to consider is

1 he said the unlock anyway its phrased is 8k , that made me decide to get the device a simple no idea or I dont provide unlock services would babe made me contact cybertek instantly. But the definitiveness of his answer made me conclude he must have gotten it from a person of authority. I have unlocked samsung devices but that does not mean I can speculate the cost of unlocking any device .

2 he also agree to assist with the unlock even when he stated his dispatch rider will go to ikeja to meet others who will unlock the device at a competitive price , I think I can search for the screenshot.

3 he was not keen on reasoning with me , the minute he saw the 20k profit . That's why he went as far as to contact the buyer and offered him the profit I stood to gain , saying the actual amount the device was sold to him and the excess of 20k , jimmy and reefe would know how close I and the buyer is , he is talking to me but I know there must be some trust issues going forward now .

4 I have dealt with a lot of persons here , even one scenario I paid a tlc to inspectormax and when we discovered the cost of the unlock was above our budget the next day cybertek replied us he refunded us the complete money, including the profit I added to the deal .

5 everyone that has dealt with me knows I add something tiny to the deal and until the deal is sealed or closed i dont request for it .

6 hotdealz was unwilling to accept his device that very day or the very instant we discovered the actual amount of the unlock .

Now my question is if every body were to post any amount. On their ads as the idea they presume would be for the unlock , I can bet you 90% of persons will repeat the actions I took , because a lot of persons have come to trust popular monikers on nairaland.

The only justifiable remedy is
1 my 20k profit should be sent to me , by hotdealz

2 he should send me a complete screenshot of the conversation he had with the buyer my friend so I can know how best to provide a suitable excuse that can mitigate the consequences of his actions

When he first chatted me up, (I did not even know he was from nairaland) he asked me "What my IDEA of the price to unlock the device was" and I said 8k (the price someone told me at ikeja)

He didn't make me understand that I must unlock the device or must provide the person that will unlock it at that price before they started the installmental payment.

When the payment was completed, it was in excess of 20k and he immediately asked me how soon he can get the device. We started discussing delivery and time it would take to get to ajah and I already told my delivery guy to carry the phone along when he came to pickup another item he was to deliver elsewhere.

All this while, no discussion about unlocking which is proof that I never had any agreement with D4donnn that I must/will provide unlocking service. Cos immediately payment was complete, next discussion was delivery.

All of a sudden, D4donnn came up with unlocking and he asked me to contact my guy that unlocks (I never told him I have a guy that unlocks). but coincidentally, I have the contact of the person that told me 8k at ikeja. So I tried to reach him to no avail. So I told him I can't reach the contact I have. He bacame aggressive and it turned into serious argument and insults.

The buyer after receiving his phone started messaging me directly with threats and insult. He was so confident because according to him he has proof that he transferred money into my account.

At this point, I could no longer trust D4donnn for these reasons;

*I don't know who he was.

*The way he turned "my IDEA of the price to unlock the device" into "I must unlock the device".

*He allowed this buyer send money directly into my account (Thats why the buyer was so confident to attack me)

*He was not straight forward - At first, he made me understand the excess funds to be his profit but later said the excess funds was for the unlocking of the device and delivery.

So, If any money paid into my account must go out, it must go back into the account it came from. D4donnn did not send money to me, so I was not comfortable with sending money to him. He should have collected money from his buyer and send exactly my money to me.

Since you claim you know how to judge let me ask you a polite question,

1 Will someone from any other platform send you money first before item if not for nairaland.

2 why where you hell bent insisting on the 20k profit I stood to make from the deal

3 if you didnt know the cost of unlocking the device, why say it till date you haven't provided the contact of the person who can unlock for 8k , all you did was show me someone who said he can unlock the device for 21k ,

4 and to further buttress my point why tell me you got the deal from Sam's Same nairaland , if you didn't know I was from nl .

5 and the phone wasn't with your dispatch rider then , you strong armed us to use his services.which was even costlier than what we were supposed to use . Because phone when we never pay for nai your dispatch rider one they with for delivery purposes. Abi na so he they carry your entire market they waka .

6 what I dont get is why tell me 8k if you dont have an idea of the cost and when you discovered it was wrong what was the actions you took to mitigate your misleading statement . Because from all evidence you knew it was not 8k

7 all the deals i do on nl I send the entire money to the seller even those in us and they will still credit me the balance , so why will you be an exception .

8 then what moved you in Gods name to say buyer na wetin I sell the device be this , let me reimburse you the balance and let's forget about him who brought the deal . Mr Don I'm done with you.

And nobody insulted you until you said you wouldn't collect your device again or refund the money . When I told you to try to unlock the device before it got to the island , what was your input ?

No offense but hotdealz name deserves to be in that list , now let me narrate what he did to me , but first let me wipe my tears


So a friend contacted me on Saturday that he needed a samsung note 20 for his coz with a caveat that they only had part of the money available, so I messaged two recognized names but they both insisted when I had the entire money available i should hit them up. Hotdealz was the only one who agreed to part payment . I've had only one issue in the past on nl and it was quickly resolved that very day, so I never expected anything was gonna pop up whatsoever, I've never asked for vouch as long as I see you're a popular seller .

I asked him since his device is locked what was the cost of the unlock he told me 8k, the definitiveness of his answer made me conclude he must have gotten that from unlock guys , since cybertek has previously unlocked two of my devices for less that 4k I figured it could possibly be true moreover I had no reason to doubt him and didnt suspect he would lie about it . Relying on that statement I made an initial deposit of 100k , we were supposed to pay the balance by tuesday but on Monday we completed the payment .

So i told him to contact his unlock guy so the phone could be unlocked before it got to the client , but he said the guys number was not connecting . I contacted cybertek only to be told the unlock was 34500 , I quickly messaged him to call his contact and revealed my findings and the next thing he said was , he doesn't do unlock so he cant assist me , and he only sold his device as locked . I was like if you know nothing about unlocking why not specify it then, so I'd inquire from others , I've bought devices locked and unlocked from several deal hunters and they have always assisted me with the valuations of the unlock those who were not aware of the cost to unlock the device had stated it .

I told him since the unlock was way above our budget we wouldn't be footing the extra chargers so he should either accept a refund or pay for the balance, that was when he said he wouldn't accept a refund and started tales of how he sold the phone at a loss.

he vehemently argued defending his deception and next thing he did was to contact the seller and told him the actual amount the item was sold , and promised to refund him the extra 20,000 that was placed on the deal.

If he had insisted on splitting the extra expenses with me I most definitely would have agreed but since he chose to defend his deception to the Point of ruining my friendship, damn na that one nai pain me pass , so I don't really know what can be done to alleviate my plight , but I'll appreciate any form of justice because this thing is far from over .

I'll be attaching screenshots for clarity . Because what I have learnt about this dude
