Anita was seated on the only three seater couch in Uncle Patrick's mansion located around Orita mefa or better still Total garden in the suburb part of Ibadan and one of the most civillised area in Ibadan. She looked from Patrick to Jane, then to Collins, her greatest enemy, her eyes fell on Pa James(Patrick's friend) and involuntarily, her eyes fell on Olu, her greatest nightmare who had an indifferent look on his face as he was staring at her muderously. She quickly looked away and that moment, she couldn't feel her heartbeat for the next five seconds, she couldn't breathe in for the next five seconds, and it took her a total of a minute and a half to calmdown.
"The day where secrets will be let out." Oul muttered.
"You said what?" Uncle Patrick asked.
"Nothing." Olu replied.
Regardless of the fact that both men were agemates, it was no new thing that everyone in the family feared Uncle Patrick, despite the fact that he was the eldest in the family, and despite he old age, they still feared him, even the wives and husbands of the other member of the very big Thomas family, they feared him, afterall, when you are in Rome, you behave like the Romance, the same way when you are in the Thomas family, you behave like every other member of the family. From the stories relayed to Fathers, mothers to their children, they said Pa Patrick was one of the young boys forcefully recruited into the Army during the civil war, and during the war, he rose to the position of a Major, but after the war, the recruits were sent packing and dismissed from the army. On his return to the family house, he became temperamental, and he instilled fear in every member of the family, even his parents. It was said that on a normal day when Pa Patrick is stable and in a happy mood, anywhere he was, no other person should be there or walk past him. Which means anytime he was in the living room, every other member of the family must vacate the room for him alone, but on the days that he was in a very bad mood, he would be restless and at the same time mad with everybody and the expected is that, everyone leaves the house for him. If he would be mad for two hours, everyone including their parents will have to sit under the scorching sun for those two hours. Cousins and other members of the extended family were the ones who suffered most, since they had no idea of how he behaved, an anytime they came visiting and he became angry, they'll remain in the house and the few unlucky ones would recieve the beating of their lives. According to the story said, he stopped going to church after he commanded the who congragation of then Catholic church the family attended to get out and continue their service outside the church auditorium, that was when it dawned on them that he had lost his mind, probably from the harmful things he had smoked, sniffed during the war. He was taken to the United states and on his return a decade later, he had a son and a beautiful black American woman.
"James, give us the opening prayer." Patrick said calmly.
Pa James rose up confidently.
"Our father in heaven. Teach us what to say and see us through in thy name. Amen." He said and sat down.
Patrick looked from one person to the other.
"Now, Olu, you have broken the family rules, you've gone against tradition, you slept with you brother's wife." He began.
"Uncle, my relationship with Anita started even before she got married to Wole, don't tell me about tradition, they are as good as dead." Olu replied.
Pa James opened his mouth in shock.
"Then, why didn't you get married to her then?" Patrick asked. "Wole is her lawfully wedded husband, and therefore, you must break whatever you two have going now before the family."
"Definitely, we'll break up, but what about my son?" He asked.
"What son?" Anita asked as all eyes fell on her.

Serena, even though she didn't like the person of Obi, she was deeply impressed by his sense of humour and during their discussion, they realised that he was a student of the University of Ibadan, second year and his business at the cyber cafe was to help his kid brother print out his result, afterall, they are on break.
The entered the shopping complex, the two girls laughing and Obi feeling on top of the world. Its not everyday, one tends to make beautiful girls laugh.
Taiwo stopped abruptly as she discovered that their places has been taken by three annoying girls who from the look of things, it seemed, Serena knew them.
"What the hell is the meaning of this?" Taiwo asked as she moved towards the girls.
Serena held her back.
"What?" Taiwo asked.
"Please don't. I don't want trouble or public embarrassment." She said.
"I have this under control." Taiwo replied as she approached them.

Good morning guys. Those two updates are the ones I was supposed to drop yesterday, but you know that moment when you have a couple of Harlequin collections in your library, two Tom Clancy's crime thrillers, A Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie book, A John Grisham book, then all you have to say is D9ty7 should go and sit down with his stories. That was what happened. I was reading those books and I was like; Dee, you be amateur among these writers. But hey! I was inspired when I finished reading The Rain Maker yesternight and I just wanna be a lawyer all over again. It is not too late, is it?
Now, we shud expect the day's update as the day drags on. No specific time, but we will surely get them. Anybody been to the other side lately? THE THOMAS. Let me work something out.

And before I go, HAPPY BORN DAY TO SLIMZJOE. One update will be dedicated to you as it is the tradition on D9ty7 threads. You too don dey grow, I remember the day you were born, Stuff46, you remember too, don't you? Lol

Daniel put on his shirt, buttoned it up to the neck, put on his tie and added his jacket over a black fitted trouser. Just then, an all dressed Magaret walked out of the bathroom with a seductive smile on her face.
"Hope you have removed every trace of you from this house? You know my wife will return today and I don't want him to know that I brought another woman home, and not just any woman, but you my secretary." Daniel began immediately, as he checked himself out in the giant mirror that stood beside the wall fitted wardrobe.
Magaret walked up to him, stood behind him and wrapped her hands on his waist. Her left hand kept squeezing his groin region and occassionally, he kept looking at her through the mirror. In the last one minute that he started caressing him, he had undid his buttons five times, so as to have more time and reason to be in front of the mirror and enjoy her touch.
"That's the reaction I love. One more round." Magaret said.
"Not this morning." He groaned, even though he was in the mood to get down with her one more time, he wasn't willing to risk it.
"Does that mean you did enjoy the three rounds we had over the night?" She asked.
"Listen to me Magaret, this is supposed to be a one night thing, no strings attached. I didn't enjoy it. I did it just to satisfy my sexual urge since I haven't had sex with my wife for almost a month now. So, please, let it just be the way it is. You are not my wife and no matter how hard you try, you will never match my wife when it comes to issues like this." Daniel said.
"And what did I say that warranted all these? I only asked a harmless question. Nothing more nothing less." Magaret replied.
"Just don't talk about it anymore. What we just had must be between us, and nothing else. Now, you can leave." Daniel said pointing to the door.
"Why? Are you saying I will fight for my place at the bus stop, no way." She replied defiantly.
"And there is no way I am driving you to the office, I don't want people gossipping about us." He said.
"Waoh! Gossip sucks, especially when you are being talked about in a degrading manner. I mean, anyone who takes the bold step to cheat on his wife, to the extent of bringing home his mistress she be bold to face the criticisms that will come up after the gossip had been disbursed." Magaret said mockingly.
"I am not joking here." He said angrily.
"Fine, no gossip, nothing nothing. But I don't have a dime on me, you have to drive me to work."
"No way. I can give you all the monies in the world. As a matter of fact, if u want to go to work in an aeroplane, I'll pay your ticket." Daniel replied.
"I love your dry sense of humour, but hey boss, it doesn't affect me. Now grab your car key and I will be waiting outside to be driven to work by my boss." With this she stepped forward and planted a kiss on his lips.
"See confidence." He though angrily as he rumaged his drawer, even though he had nothing to pick from it.

Christopher couldn't agree less that today was a different day, probably his mother's happy day, because by the time his alarm woke him up at five thirty, he was hearing sounds from the kitchen, even though he wasn't curious to know who was in the kitchen, afterall it could be from neighbour's kitchen who shared window with thiers. But twenty minutes later when he was done with his bath, he could hear the trademark early morning prayer broadcast on radio which was an everyday thing in the family which occupied the next flat, after which they start cooking. That was when it dawned on him that his mother was cooking breakfast on a weekday, for the first time in five months(the last time was when she was on leave) Now, he was sitting at the dinning awaiting his mother to serve him, but he could hear an extra sound coming from the third room which was formerly occupied by his mother's bestfriend, Clara.
"Hey boy." Mark greeted as he walked into the living room, all dressed.
"Good morning Uncle." And just then Tina came out with a tray on top which plates of food were arranged.
"Mark, do you mind joining us?" Tina asked as she laid down the plates carefully.
"I am not in the mood to eat." He replied as he picked the remote control and started flipping through the television channels.
"But..." Christopher was saying, but a look from his mother shut his mouth.
He breathe in deeply, before he faced his mother with a you-have-an-explanation look. His mother smiled back.

A fuming Mark Anthony was leaning against the wall as he spoke and screamed at Danny Lovato who had a smile on his face.
"Why on earth do you keep giving big assignments to amateurs?" Anthony asked.
"These guys are not amateurs, they probably lost focus which gave Mark Ashimolowo the chance to fight them off." Lovato explained.
"What do you mean by their loss of focus? As an ex millitary man, it is only when a troop is moving in close pack that they loose focus. You know why? Because of the hundred soldiers, there are about seventy different ideas in their heads, therefore, except in the case of having a stern and strict commander, they tend to act in their own accord, but with two men. Just two men, and they couldn't pull this off..."
"They were just a bit hasty. They were only concerned in the result. They desperately wanted to overpower Mark Ashimolow, but they didn't put in place the normal structures to aid them."
"So, what will happen now? I need Mark Ashimolowo inside this building before the week runs out, even if it means the great Lovato returning to the field." Anthony said.
"Colonel, I have always been on the field, but going all out because of Mark is very s.tupid. With two of my men, Mark will be here in no time, just give me the last chance to make this work."
"Fine, you have a last chance, and if it doesn't work this time, Danny, you are hitting the field." Anthony added with laughs from both men.
"I tried checking out to do list, then I realised that there is nothing much for us to do, expect blowing up N.A.T.U. Why is that?" Lovato asked.
"Yeah, that's true. We are getting help from the ministry, Andrew(former N.A.T.U director) is working on it. He has to meet with a few ministry head, get in touch in directly with the offices and know when the cabinet members will be available."
"But, the education minister remains a target." Danny said.
"As well as the first lady." Anthony replied.
Silence took over the room as the two men were kept to each own thought.
"Did you hear about this lady, Clara?" Danny asked.
"I recieved a message from Andrew. What do you think we should do to her?"
"Actually, I don't know. You know, she doesn't work for Lavato directly. Andrew works for me, while she works for Andrew, but I think she is an asset. Level four I think." Danny Lovato explained.
"We could bring her in permanently. Or you have any contrary opinion?" Anthony asked.
"I don't think she has what it takes to work with us. Psychologically, she is unbalanced, and someone who could betray her full time payer, sell out the government, sell out the whole country, how sure are you that she won't sell us out when she becomes a full member." Danny Lovato explained.
"You know, I never thought that way at all. I think she should stay put with Andrew, intercept logistics report between the ministry of defence and the security agencies in the country and fill us in." Anthony explained. "Or you have any contrary opinion?"
"None for now." Danny Lovato replied rising to his feet. "I think I should leave you to catch some sleep. 11pm." He said with a bow before walking out.
------------------------------------------
Clara was lying down almost on top of Mayor who slept on his back. She was stroking the hairs on his chest and constantly, she would spend a minute or two sucking his n.ipples.
"Clara, nothing is happening between us tonight." Mayor said breaking the silence.
"If someone else had said this, I would have believed, but with you Mayor, sexx is important than food." She replied.
"Clara, am serious." He said as he pushed her away.
"Are you for real? Mayor, what's the matter?" She asked with a concerned look.
"Listen, you have between now and Friday to spend in my apartment. By saturday morning, you should pack your bags and leave. I don't see any sense in your decision to revenge on behalf of someone who is doing fine at the ministry. You are taking revenge on my sister, please, you have to leave."
"Is that why you will deny your self the chance of entering my paradise?" Clara asked seductively, raising her nightie up to the mid thigh.
"If you life, open you legs wide for me, I am not entering your hell. I am done with you, I have moved on. You should too."
"Good to hear that. But believe me, you can't hold body with me lying on the bed with you." She bragged.
"Even if you are naked beside me, I still won't do anything."
"Mayor has gone sterile." She mocked.
"I still have what it takes to make you and you mum moan." he bragged as he pulled the covers over himself and turned his back. "Goodnight."

I am loving this decision to protest until their voice is heard, but in this Nigeria of today, make dem sit down till next year, no one will notice their presence not to talk of hearing their voice.
Unless they do it violently, no one will take them serious.

Ten minutes after their arrival, the computer operator or the owner of the cyber cafe came out to address the customers in waiting.
"Am sorry to announce to you that comething just went wrong with our printer and an engineer is fixing it already. Bear with us and in the next twenty minutes, all your print outs will be done." He said.
"That's one of the reasons why I don't like coming to low classed Cyber cafes. Imagine you having five computers out of which only two are working and you make use of just one printer and a scanner, one photocopying machine. Even Bella in Iwo road uses two shops with more than ten computers. Am leaving jor." A little girl ranted on and on.
Serena considered her a little girl, because in height, she looked cheated, in body shape, she was not considered to at least be average, in the natural places where curves and other womanly features ought to be, she was not only cheated, she was skimmed out, probably because there was a mix up when she was being created in heaven and someone packed her among the males, and by the time it came to the notice of those in charge, there were less clays left in heaven. But what she lacked in height, shape and bodily features, she packed everything in her looks. To say this girl was beautiful would be termed a sin, she was out of this world. Even Serena felt intimidated by her glowing skin which looked whiter than normal, she probably was an half caste.
"Aunty please, don't be angry. We'll fix the problem in no time and you going to other cafes around means you'll still wait on the line. Imagine yourself being number fifty somewhere and in the next one hours, you are yet to do your print out and here, you are number three, and in the next twenty minutes, you are done." The man pleaded.
Serena smiled. It is only in Ibadan that a man old enough to be your father will accord you more than enough respect, just because you wanted to buy one thing or the other from him.
"Please, be quick." The girl said confidently, and immediately the man dashed into his shop and returned with a plastic chair.
"Please sit."
This singular act angered the other customers waiting to be attended to. Serena thought, it is only in Ibadan that a service man will go overboard just to satisfy a customer, an act that will make several other customers angry.
"You must give us plastic chairs too." The others protested, even though they knew there will never be enough chairs for them.
The computer man ignored them and returned to his shop. He knew none of them would leave. (Ibadan, God bless we)
"What are you looking at?" Serena asked when she saw Taiwo staring at the little girl seated on the chair.
"The girl looks good facially." The dark complexioned Taiwo replied.
"So?"
"Seriously, if no be sau it is a sin, I fit turn lesbo cos of this girl." Taiwo whispered and the two friends bursted into laughter.
Even the huge guy behind them couldn't help but laugh.
"You dare not. Not with handsome guys like us alive." He said with a smile.
"Keep giving yourself hope. Handsome?" Taiwo replied him.
Serena nudged her to keep quiet to avoid getting slapped.
"I am Obi." He said.
"I am Adaobi." She replied and they all bursted into laughter.
Five minutes later, Taiwo suggested that they all go on stroll, so that by the time they returned, the time would have been far spent. And together, Taiwo, Serena and the handsome Obi left.
------
Immediately after they had left, Stephanie alighted from the Volkswagen Golf 3 with Jake and two other friends, and immediately, they occupied the space where Taiwo and Serena just left.
------------------------------------------
Anita walked into Uncle Patrick's house elegantly dressed in a sky blue voil lace and a head gear to match and an italian shoe as well as the bag.
"Good afternoon sir" She greeted her husband's brother before taking her seat.
Five minutes later, Collins came in with Jane while during the course of their exchanging pleasantries, Pa James walked in with Barrister Olu following closely behind.
"Time to spill the secret." Olu thought as he sat down.

candy:
I think the major problem with this is awareness. Many readers and writers alike, don't know about this thread! I myself didn't get to know until late last year.

We can make this right by creating more awareness. If writers A, B, C and D creates awareness on their threads, the readers will go and vote for them. But if only A is creating awareness, they will go and vote only for A!

I hope this thread can be more popular. It's not just about the monetary gift, it's also about the euphoria of winning. Some wonderful readers have taken it upon themselves to publicise this award thread, we need more of them.

We can work towards making it more competitive from next month.
I couldn't have said it any better. Aside creating awareness, voters will always be voters. I remember early this year, I went from thread to thread, explained the voting procedures i.e vote for one writer as the best newcomer. Vote three as the writer(s) of the month. People still voted for one person on each category. Some even voted in one category. I think the cause of this is simply the fact that readers have preference. The same way booklovers will always read John Grisham books and turn blind eyes to Hadley Chase books. Readers in this section have one or two writers they like and they will never check other writers out. That's the main problem. But April will be a lot better.
But seriously, Aunty you are selfish o. Kilode! You alone 71 votes, you can't even give out about 20 votes to the writer that came second. In my own opinion, I think you came 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th... As a matter of fact, you also took the last position.
Congrats once again.

Congratulations Candy. But I think the gap is just too much. 71 - 3 = 68.
This was caused by the fact that voters are voting for just one writer. You all can vote three writers at once and believe me, the competition makes it a lot more interesting. The challenge is no longer there, those days when a writer will as at five days to the end of the month be trailing at No 5, only to be the eventual winner at the end of the month. But now, from the day voting starts, you know the winner.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ... 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 (of 162 pages)
