--continuation-- Jimmy was seated in front of the CEO, God son group of companies, Chief Olukolade. The sixty year old business tycoon had an angry look on his face, and with the way he stared back and forth, one could deduce that he was looking from something to pounce on. "Talk to me Jim." Chief Kolade said with a croaky voice. Jimmy stared on, not knowing where to start, because he had made up right from the time he was summoned by the Chairman that he would lie his way out of the mess. "Talk to me Jim. What's going on between my daughter and Daniel? I mean, did Adeola really had an abortion that damaged her womb?" The elderly man asked. "You are closer to the couple that we the parents. You've known yourselves for almost two decaded. What's the matter?" "Seriously dad." He paused to see his voice left any trace of lies. Seeing that it was perfect, he continued. "I don't see any reason why you should believe these crap. You should know that in a successful company such as this with over fifty staffs all over the federation, there always will be rumour mongers. They fabricate lies and tell it to their friend on the second floor, then within an hour, everyone is aware of the rumour which would have been polished to look true." Jimmy explained. "I don't believe this is a rumour. It looked so real.." "With due respect sir, every human will at the first instance believe any rumour he/she hears somewhere. But on a second thought, you realise that they are nothing but lies." Jimmy cuts in. "I had a second thought to speak the truth. You know, its my daughter we are talking about here, but when you look at it from the number of years that she has married Daniel, then you'll be tempted to believe." The elderly man said. "I was angry the first time I heard it from my secretary this morning, because I felt like Daniel is hiding something from me, but on a second thought I knew they were just trying to break the couple apart. But I know the strong bond they share will make them remain together for long and at the right time, Adeola will have her own baby." Jimmy explained. "Think not over it dad, its nothing serious." He added. Chief Olukolade smiled for the first time. "You know, I was thinking maybe we could all take a trip to the golf club at the weekend. I come with my wife, Daniel with his and you with your date." He knew he was coming to this. There was no way you would spend thirty minutes or more in the old man's office and he wouldn't compensate you for the time wasted, according to his words with a time out, either a dinner with wives or a time at the big men's club in Ikoyi or the golf club. "I'll think about it sir." "You have two days. Pick one from one of the numerous girls you carry around and meet use at the golf club. I need to take my pound of flesh, you defeated me the last time out." With laughter, he walked out of the office and made for the elevator when he ran accross Daniel, who was just coming to work after spending five hours at a local bar drinking away his sorrows. He set sight on Christina the previous night and the highlight was seeing his son for the first time and being only a few yards away, he couldn't even look at him for five seconds, before the angry Tina drove away madly. "Guy, you not try o." Jimmy said as he jokingly ran to catch up with his friend who was walking accross the large lobby which stood between the Chairman's office and the Managing Director's office. "Everyone is talking about you. Your confidant, Magaret has spilled every secret of your marriage life to her friends and even Dad knows about it already." Jimmy said as he tried to keep up with his friend who still ignored him. "Good morning hun." Magaret greeted with a seductive smile. "Keep your runnig trap shut there or I shut it for you. B:itch!" Jimmy warned as he quickly opened the door into Daniel's office and the two friends entered. "I saw Tina yesterday, my boy was with him." Daniel cried as hesat down. Jimmy understanding the situation sat down calmy in front of him. "Be a man. Don't let the boy disturb you. You have lived without him for thirteen years, seeing him at this stage is an added advantage, but I still stand on my point, make peace with Tina, that's the only way you can get to see your son regularly. If you use force, she'll take legal action and you'll loose, afterall, no one knows you are the father of the boy." Jimmy explained calmly. "Nooooo." Daniel cried. "Give it a second thought. Make peace with Tina and the boy will be under your roof without you requesting." Jimmy replied. "I'll be back during luch hour." --to be continued-- |
There is every possibility that I add one more update before 11:59pm today. |
Skimpledawg:That was the first crime story I read on Nairaland. |
@LogoDWhiz: I appreciate the points you raised, but looking at it from the perspective of a Nigerian man and a Nigerian writer, we have to make everything Nigerian. I mean, we all know how our security operatives are. And another point worthy of notice is Mark who we all know is from America, do you expect him to have an easy ride? Like at first try, record success? No. If he understood the way things work, he must have problems with his colleagues. I just want this story to be original, at least to an extent. |
Olanireti:I d9ty7 recommends, AN EVENING WITH EVA(AEWE) by Kayemjay if he hasn't deleted it sha. |

harjibolar10:Am telling you bro. When there are too many 'ogas' there will be confusion. |
Thronekid, I think with the rate you are going, some things are at stake. Your first story I read was 'The first taste of deliquency' or something like that and I must confess that I love it, because it revolved round just one character. At a point you stopped updating and till date, the last comment on the thread was sometimes in January. You now have a blog, is it on the blog? We don't know. As you were updating your first story, you brought in another one, even though I didn't read that one, I don't know if you completed it or not. And between the month of February and today March 25th, you have started about two new stories or more if I am not mistaken. Thronekid, I know you want to get all your stories out so people can correct your mistakes, but believe me, you will end up improving only one of the stories, because its not easy monitoring two story threads at a time. I can use myself as a case study, I am running two stories concurrently on Nairaland and as much as I try to monitor the two, I realise that I am more active on one than the other. While I respond to comments, contributions on one, what I do on the other is just to update and reply one or two comments. If at a point, I realise that I can no longer keep up with the pressure of running two stories, I will suspend one and focus on the other. Even though I know it can't get to that level. Sometimes I read comments and I just smile. Non literature-landers have one comment which "I hate reading stories in the literature section because the writers are fond of abandoning their stories midway." And we all know that not every writer abandons their stories, but the few who does have painted this section bad. I saw a comment up there like "I hope you won't delete this story thread too" or something like that. That is an exampled. Someone was enjoying the story, but because you felt it wasn't interesting, you deleted it. Are you writing for your reading pleasure or that of others? Have you read 'The interpreters' by Prof Wole Soyinka? Your creativity is superb with a not so large fan base, and I believe with time, you'll garner more fans and before you know it, you are the most talked about writer in this section. But before you reach that level, write your stories to completion. The bottom line of the jargon I have written so far is that you should come and complete 'the first taste of deliquency' or else..... |
CHAPTER 7 In the face of war, only the brave stand still to the end, regardless of whetever fate awaits him in the end, regardless of him, being on the loosing side. The same way it was a popular saying in every camp of the army at the war front, a commander of a battalion or a captain of a troop who calls for retreat because he was loosing his men every minute should be prepared to loose more men in a minute and if care is not taken, he would loose his own life. Clara instigated a war on herself and she unfortunately couldn't stand the pressure of staying to fight, but it is quite unfortunate for her because she was stranded and all hopes lost, she could call for help from her partners in crime, for the fear of the call being intercepted. She remained hidden in the questioning room where she knew no one would search, at least, for the next ten minutes, no one would search the hall. But before then, she decided to make some calls, the first person she called was, Mr Andrew, a former director at N.A.T.U whom she walked directly with. "Hello boss, I have been bursted." She said over the phone. "Remain wherever you are, I'll pull a quick string and you'll be allowed to escape." Andrew assured. "Okay sir." She replied fearfully. Even though his assurance gave her hope, but the expertise of the merciless Mark, emotional Christina and randy Collins could spell doom. "And make no more calls." He said before hanging up. Clara remained seated on the chair where she had murdered Ben not too long ago, only that this time, she wasn't binded or tied with rope or chain. Her heart flew into her mouth the moment she heard footsteps outside the questioning room. ----------- Mark has been running from one section to the other with three uniformed security men behind him, and this time, they reached the questioning room. "Your keycard." He requested and one of the uniformed men gave his card to him. Mark stepped forward, swiped the card accross the face of the register, but nothing happened. The read light kept blinking, this time a lot more faster. "What's going on? A cloned card?" Mark asked impatiently. "No sir, I am a level two clearance officer." The man replied. "So?" "There is a restriction placed on every room here. The card can't access the control room, the weaponry as well as the questioning room." The man explained. "What rubbish? Even a security man?... Then what the heck are you securing if you can't access everywhere?" Mark asked irritatedly. "What about you guys? Let me have your cards." He said to the other two. "We are level two sir." "Even you too?" Mark exclaimed. They nodded their heads in the affirmative. "You guys stay here, while I go in search of a suitable keycard. On no account should you leave this corridor.... I repeat, keep your eye on this door. I have a feeling someone is behind this door.." With these, Mark took off while the three officers stayed behind, each to his own thoughts. --------- Clara could hear Mark dish out instruction to his boys and just when she was sured that he had left, she made for the door. "Hey guys." She greeted immediately the door opened. "Welldone ma." They chorused. "I've got this corridor covered. You can now go." She instructed and immediately the security men went in the direction which Mark had gone minutes ago. She carefully tip toed down the other side of the corridor, towards the west wing exit. "Sam, show." She whispered into her phone as she waited a few seconds behind an array of arranged gas tanks. Thirty seconds later, a uniformed security man showed up with a key. "How far?" She asked. "The west gate is clear, a car is waiting outside the gate." The man, Sam explained. "Good job." She said shaking hands with him. "See you some other time." Sam said emotionally. "Fine. And I hope the rest of you will work together as a team, remember how far we have come." She squeezed the man's shoulder and the next minute, she stepped out of the door into the deserted compound and quickly made for the west gate which was slightly opened, thanks to Sam. --to be continued-- |
--continuation-- In the world of crime, it takes a hundred and one crimes to cover one's tracks from a crime committed a long time ago, just the way it takes a million lies to cover a lie. Clara as a season criminal cum mole in a popular Anti Terror agency in Nigeria committed a crime of killing an arrested criminal whom she feared would spill the beans and herself as well as several notable Nigerians and world leaders would be mentioned. She did a very clean job, but in an agency filled with brilliant detectives, it takes a close study of someone's body language to know if she is for the long term aim of the agency or working for the enemies. Within hours, someone suspected her and seeing that a proof to back the detective's claim was about to be retrieved, she had to get rid of the computer analyst asked to work on the retrieval, and now she was about to cover her tracks in the most bizzare manners, after which she'll flee from N.A.T.U to somewhere far and allow other moles in the agency continue from where she stopped. Even though, by leaving, so many unofficial assignments would be left undone. She had concluded with a former director of the N.A.T.U who was asked to leave as a result of Christina passing a vote of confidence on Collins who was an interim replacement and these resulted in a big time feud between the duo of Clara and Tina who were once best of friends and sisters for they had lived together for three years, but after the fight, Clara moved out and subsequently Tina started paying the rent in full. As a result of Clara attacking Tina publicly inside the N.A.T.U building which resulted in a cat fight(typical ladies fight) a more lenient punishment was dished out to Tina being the new director(Collins) crush, while Clara who was the director's greatest enemy, suffered a ten percent pay cut in her salary which still stood till date and she was demoted by a level clearance, which brought her to the same level with the regular computer analysts. She had vowed to deal with Tina and the best way to achieve that is by kidnapping her son, Christopher. By leaving the agency, she would be denied first hand information about Tina's next move and the agency's next line of action. But, she would rather go into hiding, rather than get herself arrested. Clara removed a black hand glove and wore it on both hands, she inched closer to the young computer lady and with one swift turn, she placed her hand on her neck and made to squeeze life out of her. The lady stuggled weakly, thanks to the head injury she sustained hours earlier. While she was at this and the lady pleading with her eyes as she cried and tried wriggling herself away from her grip, Clara used the opportunity to scan around at other patients to know if they were aware of what was going on, as well as listening hard, in case someone was approaching. And just then she heard the sound of a door opening, no doubt, Mark was out of the female doctor's office and he would be in the ward in the next thirty seconds at most. With all the strength in her, she squeezed harder and her victim breathe her last. She breathe deeply in twice and breathe out in the same manner twice, a feeling of relief engulfed her as she removed the gloves and pocketed them and one last look at the three other patients, she was a pair of eyes starring at her like she was a celebrity or a well known figure. But it was too late for her to act, she just dashed out of the ward without another word, knowing fully well that she has been bursted even before making her way out of the building, not to talk of getting out of the city. The only thing she could hope for was the patient keeping mute about the whole scene she witnessed or better still, she should be one of the patients who had suffered a relapse in their memories, but the chances are quite slim, plus she could vividly remember who the lady was. Clara remembered averting a bomblast some months ago alongside Christina and fortunately, the lady wasn't affected much and coincidentally, she was Collins younger sister. ----- "Something is wrong here." The female doctor said fearfully. "What's the matter?" Mark asked moving closer. "She is dead." "What?" Mark exclaimed. He quickly looked at the motionless figure lying on the bed in front of him, he noticed that her pillow was out of place, the bedsheet was unusually ruffled, the medical cloth covering her was almost falling of the bed. He removed his walkie talkie. "Agent Mark on the line, put the building on a total lockdown. No one is allowed to move in or move out." He said as he ran out of the ward down the hallway. "Tina, every agent who is not on seat as we speak or out of office should be labelled a suspect. Get the CCTV record and see in the last ten minutes, the agents out of their seats." He instructed as he ran. "Collins, we have a situation here..." END OF CHAPTER 6 |
I GIVE THIS UPDATE TO GOD ALMIGHTY WHO IS HIS INFINITE MERCIES MADE OUR BABY LIVE TO SEE HERSELF ADD ANOTHER YEAR IN A CODED WAY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CODEDBABY __________________________________________ Serena walked into the living room angrily and without a word she stormed the dinning room where Dave was doing only God knows what on his computer. "Hey sis." He smiled. She stood fuming beside him as she breathe faster. "What's wrong with ya?" He asked still smiling. She felt the urge to slap him that moment, but on a second thought, she knew slapping Dave would only send her six feets below the earth surface and to avoid that, she needed to calm herself to a level where she could voice her anger and displeasure in a subtle manner. The reason behind her anger, she couldn't say, maybe because Nate refused to tell her the reason behind his arrest and whatever the problem was between himself and their Uncle, Olu. She would have overlooked the whole scenario, but she couldn't, especially when Dave returned from work and Nate took his time to relay the happenings of the day without holding anything back. Dave who had no idea of how he got out of police station was the first to hear the story from the horse's mouth, while she who took the pain to visit a police station for the first time, spent all she had to secure his bail and even begged the DPO like her life depended on whatever verdict the man would give. "Mama food said she is not entering the kitchen today." She began hotly. "Why?" He asked. "According to her, she had handed her resignation letter and daddy already paid her off, so her job in this house is finished." Serena replied. "What about the other lady? Her daughter...what's her name sef?" "Like mother like daughter, she is there in the boys quarters lying like a log of wood..." Serena was saying. "You must be very silly for that statement." A voice yelled from the kitchen and the next thing, an old lady walked into the dinning room. "So you are reporting me to your brother so he can beat me abi?" The old lady asked as she approached Serena. "Mama Food, calm down please." Dave said stepping in between the two ladies. "I want to know why this witch is reporting me to you." The elderly lady who after many years of service to the Thomas which has spanned over a decade was regarded as a member of the family by Mr Thomas, probably because she was of good behaviour anytime he is home, but in his absence, she is much worse. And since the introduction of her daughter, sister or whatever the young lady was to her, they had become a lot more worse all in the absence of the man of the house. "Mama, please don't call my sister a witch. She is sorry for whatever bad thing she said. And I must add that refusing to work is very bad. Even though dad has paid you off till the end of the year, something several other employers cannot do. You should have justified your decision to leave by working until the very last minute you'll spend in this house, but its all good anyways, we can fix ourselves something to eat tonight." Dave calmly explained. "Are you talking to me like that? David, are you okay?" "I am perfectly okay. Do yourself a favour by returning to the boys quarters where you will spend the night and early tomorrow morning, you should leave." Dave explained. "Are you sending me away? Even your father and that useless mother of yours can't send me away, I leave when I am ready." For the first time in his twenty four years of existence, Dave violently pushed a woman, she pushed the maid angrily. "You say one more word here and you'll be suprised." Dave warned. "And what if I do?" She asked. "We both know you dare not, unless you have somewhere else to pass the night." Nate said as he walked into the living room. The mere presence of the light skinned twenty one year old boy was enough to send cold shivers down the spine of even his own father. Carefully, the old lady walked out of the house. "Bro, we need to buy fuel o." He said avoiding Serena's stare. "How many litres?" Dave asked. "Say five just for the night?" Nate replied. "Pick the car key on the table and go to Dad's room, inside his bedside drawer, pick the amount you'll need." Dave instructed before he faced his kid sister. "What quick meal can you fix for the night? Rice?" "There is no stew." She replied. "I can quickly prepare yam and egg." She added. "Please do." Dave said before returning to his seat. Serena remained on the spot without making a move. "Any problem?" Dave asked. "I am wondering if I am a Thomas. All indication points that I am not a member of this family." "What?" Dave raised his brows. "Why are you hiding things from me? Are we more than three? We should be close knitted as siblings regardless of the situation of things between dad and mum." She asked as tears welled up in her eyes. --tbc-- |

write2obi:Bro, its like you missed a certain update. Remember when Dave took Serena out to meet his girlfriend(Bolaji) who came with her junior sister(Taiwo) as well. And if you were observant enough, you'll notice that Taiwo first met Serena when they sat their UTME. You'd reckon that Serena followed a man as instructed by her father to collect the man's business card. Someone greeted Serena from inside the man's car, that person is Taiwo. You grab? |
--continuation-- Mark led a team of uniformed security officers into the medical wing on the N.A.T.U and approached the female doctor on duty. "Hi." Mark said tapping her from behind. "Hey... Mark, we meet again." She exclaimed happily. "Come with me." She said dragging him towards her office. Mark sat down gently on the visitor's chair while the lady walked into another room and the next minute, she returned with wets hand and without her medical overall attire. Mark took his time to admire the small tasteless office, which was devoid of decoration of any sort, and to say, the lady who own the office was a girlish type of person, who believed in her looks and charms. Even Christina who acts like a tomboy has one of the most wonderfully decorated office in the agency. Well, who would blame them? Afterall, Tina was a level four agent whose salary is five figured, so, she could decide to decorate her office to her taste. "What brings you here?" She asked as soon as she sat down. "A lady was brought her hours ago, she was knocked out and I was told that she is awake. I have some questions fot her." He explained. "You want to question a patient under recupperation and you are coming with an army of uniformed men. Mark, that's too much." She said. "Its like you don't know her offence. She is a suspect and she must be questioned." "I was filled in when she was brought in and as a professional, what I think she need now is an environment where she can rearrange her head. You know she almost lost a part of her memory, as a result of the hit and her fall." She explained. "I would have adviced you to let her be for the next two days before you question her, but that will be too risky, but don't intimidate her. Just talk to her normally, when she is psycologically strong to answer questions and if possible, taken into holding, I'll let you know." She advised. "Okay, I will do just as you said." Mark replied as he pressed his walkie talkie. "You guys can go back to your duty post." He said before facing her. "What next?" "You can go in an question her now." "Do me a favour by coming with me." He requested. ---------- Clara gently tip toed into the ward where according to her source in the medical department, the lady she attacked inside the control room was being treated. She stood carefully at the door, looked intently at the four beds located at strategic places in the ward, the occupants of three out of those beds were fast asleep, with their backs turned to the door, she carefully approached the lady who was awake. "Hi." She whispered as she sat beside her. "Hello." The lady replied trying to recollect where she knew her. Then it hit her. "You!" She screamed. Clara quickly moved into position and covered her mouth with her palms. "sshhhhhh. Don't talk." she pleaded. The lady stuggled for a minute, but couldn't free herself, one because she was almost in a lying position and two because she was still in pains. "Quit struggling and let's talk." She pleaded. The lady stopped struggling and face Clara with an angry scowl, even though, the fear of the unknown could be read from her facial expression. "What do you want again? You want to finish me abi?" She asked. "I came to strike a deal with you." Clara replied looking around in case someone might be eavesdropping. "What deal?" She asked. "You keep mute about every secret between us and I pay you one million naira." Clara offered. "I am no gold digger. My basic salary in a year and allowances is above a million naira." The lady replied. "Fine, five million. Deal?" Clara offered. "I am not going to see my conscience for money. Keep your money, I will serve my fatherland. And mind you, killing me won't solve the problem you are in already. You failed to cover your tracks, you should have compelled me to clear the retrieval system, but you were too hasty to do that. Even though it will take days before the file is located, but be sure that it will be located.." Clara's head burst into deep thoughts. Truly, she has nothing to gain by killing the young lady in front of her, but on the other hand, everyone in the agency might not have thought about the retrieval system, and if she was able to get this obnoxious lady out of the way, she would forcefully compel another computer analyst into clearing off the retrieval system. --to be continued-- |

__________________________________________ Inside the DPO's office, Serena was seated as well as Taiwo on the two visitor chairs in front of the desk. "What's your relationship with that criminal?" The police boss asked. "He is not a criminal." Serena replied with a shaky voice. Taiwo quickly pinched her laps. "He is our brother." She added. "Your brother?" The DPO asked. "Yes sir." she replied. "You know, I am always lenient when I am handling cases that has to do with kids, young boys and girls, you know why?" He paused. The two girls nodded their heads in the negative. "I am a children bible teacher in my church, I am a father, therefore I know how their minds work and one thing about children is that little thing count and what you will do that will make children develop hatred towards you, you don't know. That is why when I was told that someone is here to bail Nathaniel, I asked them to let you into my office, because on a normal day, you can't grant bail unless you are above eighteen...." "We are above eighteen sir." Taiwo cuts in. "Young lady, you don't talk while I am talking. Don't be rude." "Am sorry sir." Serena could see a smile on Taiwo's face and the way she sport fearlessly with confidence, one would think she was a regular visitor to a police station. Most especially, when she assured her at the entrance that everything would be fine. "When I say above eighteen, I don't mean a nineteen year old or twenty year old. Before you can request for bail, you must be a close relation to the criminal, you must be a working class citizen of this country, so that if you are needed, we can trace you to your place of work, and above all, you must have a clear criminal record. But unfortunately, our force no longer ask for police report from guarantors, all they do is get the name, address and a certain amount of money." He paused, gave them a searching look to be sure if they were with him. "We all know that if I am to follow the set rules, your parents will get to know about it and according to the boy, he pleaded with my men, that was why you were called instead of your father. And the man who asked us to arrest him is a respected lawyer in the state who is ready to take the case to the highest court in the land." The police chief continued. "We really appreciate the fact that you allowed us into your office. But please sir, can we talk to the lawyer who invited the police?" Taiwo asked calmly. "He didn't ask me to give out his number, but he must spend a few days here before he would be released." Serena quickly went down on her knees. "Please sir, he must not spend the night here. Even though I don't know his offence, but please sir, you can help us." She rapped. "We are your children." Taiwo added. "I will help you, but first, he would for the next five days report here every morning." "He will gladly accept that." Serena said. "Fine, go to the reception, and sign the papers, then return here with him so I can approve it and give you some fatherly advice." With that, Serena and Taiwo went to the reception as instructed, did the necessary signings and a bail form was handed to them, but that was after five thousand naira has been paid. Thirty minutes later, the trio of Serena, Nate and Taiwo were standing in front of the police station, everyone to his own thought. Accorrding to the revelation made by the DPO, an uncle of their ordered Nathan's arrest and Taiwo was quick to change the surnames on the bail form. But why would Uncle Olu fight Nate at Womile hotel where their mother was lodged? Does that mean their father doesn't want them near their mother, and even if that was the case, their father should have paid millitary personnels to do the job, not a close relation. Something certainly must be wrong somewhere. "How do we get home now?" Serena asked. "Those useless policemen collected everything on me at the time of the arrest, my wristwatch. Only my phone was returned, but my credit was used." Nate lamented. "I have spent all I have, including the 5k dad gave me this morning." Serena added. "I think I have money here, even if we have to lap ourselves, we'll get home." Taiwo said with a smile and all three filled into the next cab that stopped at the junction. "Am sorry for stressing you today and bringing you to a police station." Serena whispered as the cab sped on the road. "Abeg jor." Taiwo waved it off. Two hours later, when Taiwo was ready to leave, Serena saw her off to the bus-stop. "Its a pity you met me for the first time in an awkward place, but all the same, its nice meeting you." Nate said as he shook hands with her just before she mounted a bike. "Now is the time to listen to the story leading to his arrest." Serena concluded as they trekked back home. --to be continued-- |

Taiwo said immediately she set her eyes on her. "Abeg o." Serena smiled as she sat beside her new found friend whom in the last twenty four hours had gotten along well and had chatted for the majority of the previous night. "Is this our phone?" Taiwo asked. "Our phone? Yes." Serena replied. Taiwo collected the phone and stood up to sit on another couch. "Am sorry, I have to go through your pictures. Is it okay by you?" "No problem." Serena replied. "Even if there is, you think I won't check it abi?" Three minutes of silence followed as Taiwo busied herself with Serena's phone. While Serena used that opportunity to sneak into the kitchen and returned with a plate of rice and a bottle of soft drink. "Here, your food is ready." She announced. "What food?" Taiwo asked. "You are visiting me for the first time, therefore, you have eat something before you leave. "And what will I call that? Post-breakfast or pre-lunch?" Taiwo asked. "Call it whatever you like. All I know is that, you must take something in my house." "Like seriously, I ate before I left home. Let me just take the drink." Taiwo pleaded. "So, who will eat the food?" Serena asked. "You can eat it, can't you?" she replied with a smile. "I know what to do. I will pack it into a disposable plate and you'll take it home." Serena said and the two girls bursted into laughter. Silence enveloped the room once again with Taiwo busy with the phone and Serena bulldozing the food at the dining area. "Madam, nawa o. So you mean you have no intention of giving me the food in the first place. Can you imagine, I said I am not eating and under a minute, you are whoozing down the food." Taiwo joked. "I never chop this morning." Serena replied. "So you wanted to give me your own food?" Taiwo asked and Serena nodded in affirmation. "Girlie, you must be high on hunger." Taiwo said as she walked towards the dining. "Is the the guy?" she asked showing a picture of Jake to her friend. "Yeah." Serena replied. "Look at him, he looks like a pelican." Taiwo said and the two girls bursted into laughter. The girls spent the next twenty minutes talking about Jake and Stephanie where Taiwo did most of the talking, mostly abusing them. "See who is talking, if Steph is an Ostritch, then you are what?" Serena asked. "Pengiun." She replied. "Steph is taller than I am, she has long legs, I am more sexier and curvier." Taiwo bragged. "But, I am you mentor when it come to beauty." Serena said. "I agree." She replied. Five minutes later, Serena's phone rang. "Who is it?" She asked. "Hate abi what is this?.. Sorry, Nate." Taiwo said jokingly. "Wow! My big bro." Serena collected the phone and picked the call. "Hello bro." Even if they are on bad terms, she wouldn't want to give her friend that bad impression. "Tell him I am here." Taiwo whispered jokingly. "What? Police station? What happened?" Serena asked as she quickly stood up rushed to her room, returned just the way she left. "I am coming right away. Have you called daddy? What about Dave?" She asked as she picked the five thousand naira her father gave to her hours ago from the dinning table, stuffed it inside her purse and made for the door. "Madam, wait jor. What's the problem?" Taiwo asked. "Please, I have to go. My brother is in police detention." Serena fled out of the house. She ran the whole distance from her house to the junction and just as she mounted the bike, she felt someone sat behind her. "Don't look back. Your phone is with me." Taiwo said. "You don't have to go with me. It doesn't speak well, your first time of visiting me...." "Ssshhhh! We are one, remember? Dave and my sister." She said squeezing her shoulder. "Oga, you bike no fit move abi?" She asked angrily. --to be continued-- |
--continuation-- The door into the large and spacious control room opened and a young lady in her early twenties walked in. "Hey." Clara greeted. "Hi." The lady replied walking towards her boss. "I called you and I promise not to take much of your time. Come with me." Clara led her to the extreme end of the hall where control circuits bearing a computer each was located. "Take a sit." Clara said huskily. The lady carefully sat down awaiting the next instruction when she felt a cold metal on her sides. She curiously looked at the cause of the coldness, then she saw it. "Agent Clara, what's going on?" The lady asked fearfully. "Mark gave you an instruction to download the footage of activities around the questioning room corridor, how far have you gone with it?" Clara asked. "I have downloaded it halfway when you called me out." She replied. "Fine, you'll delete your computer history from here and in turn run a tab search on his mobile phone, get me the last five calls he made. Now." Clara said. "But..." The lady tried to protest. "No buts. Do what I asked you to do and we are squared." "I need a combinate." She said. "Combinate, use the common combinate, you have three minutes." Clara replied. "I will be in trouble." "I will pull the trigger if you say one more thing." Clara warned. The lady punched in some keys using the keyboard and after a minute, she dropped the bombshell. "Someone is retrieving the video from my computer." "What? Block the access." Clara said. "I can't." The lady replied. "Why?" "I can't block the access of one computer, my identity would be revealed." "Then block every computer in this building the access." Clara said without battling an eye lid. The lady kept mute for a minute, thinking about what Clara just said. "If I block every computer, that will raise and alarm and experts would be sent to rectify the problems. They'll find us here." Clara ignored her and kept her eyes glued to the screen. "Did you see that? Seventy five percent progress." She said corcking the gun in the process and with eyes closed in regret, the lady punched her computer a few more times and the screen turned green and boldly written was 100% SUCCESS. "Let's get out of here before someone finds us." The lady said rising to her feet, but got the shocker of her life when Clara hit her hard on the head and the next moment, she fell to the ground and passed out. -------------- Mark having dialled the line placed on station thirteen with no one picking up, he decided to go and see the lady himself, but to his suprise, he met her absence, which prompted him to sit over her computer to retrieve the file himself. Halfway into getting the video converted he felt someone tamper with the computer, but with the little knowledge he has, he handled the situation, he was five percent away and two minutes away from completion when the computer lost connection, the screen blank. "Dammit!" He muttered. And just as he turned on his chair to the next person beside him, realised that the problem was general. "What's the matter?" He asked. "Someone just tampered with the control room." The lady replied rising to her feet. "So, where are you going?" Mark asked. "Going to check it of course. And see if I can rectify it." She replied. "I'll come with you." He added. She walked to the centre of the hall and spoke at the top of her voice. "Cool down guys, I am off to check whatever went wrong." Half a minute later, they were descending the stairs into the control room. "Waoh! This is beautiful. So, what are we going to do now?" Mark asked. "Just watch me." She said as sat in front of a computer. Mark whose knowledge doesn't add up to rectifying problems or carrying out bigger tasks on the electronice gadget used the opportunity to walk round the very large hall whose walls was covered with screens, such that, one wouldn't need a flashlight to find ones way in the dark, but switching on all the computer will lit the hall. "Oh my God!" He exclaimed as he squatted beside the motionless body of a young lady in her early twenties. "Urgent medical attention is needed in the control room." He said as he removed his gun. --to be continued-- |
