We need a new coach period! One that understands what is required to compete in the modern game. We have to stop the rot now before it's too late. |
Originality I agree originality doesn't make you good. I can make a whole record full of me polluting. It will be original. After all, no one has done it before. But that's not what i mean here. I like his flow. It's not the safe lazy flow that everybody is doing now. It's more like a twista, E-40, busta flow. He sings as well and harmonises and Ad-Libs. And more importantly, the lyrics make real sense, at least for me. I don't know. Why do you really like any artist. It's a personal thing. |
My first post. I've been listening to RapJunkies mixtape and i have to admit i like most of it. I don't understand DaGrin, because i'm not yourba, but i can feel the energy and i don't understand the Osondi track, cause although i'm igbo, i don't understand the language very well. But, on the mixtape, i have discovered K16. Junkie was making a big fuss, so i decided to pay attention. Didn't really grab me at first, but now i find myself really enjoying the 2 tracks on the tape. Especially, swagga on lock. I like originality and this guy is really doing his own thing. Love him or hate him. Anyway, did some digging and found this track on NotJustOk called Iyabo. This is my best of the lot. Nothing paricularily special about the beat, but the vocal stands out. Again like i said before, he just sounds like himself. I now listen to it everyday before i go to work. I have seen from my digging that Nairaland is not a big fan of this guy, but to me, he is what the scene needs. Original artists doing something new. Thanks for reading. Here's the link in case you want to listen or comment or whatever http://www.notjustok.com/2008/10/15/k16-iyabo/ |
BlueDiva:Very good point too |
Agree with most above. Working for somebody else is ok for a young person. Afterall, you're young, you've just come out of school, probably no financial capacity to do anything else, no experience and all that. So working for someone at this point is not a bad idea - probably the best start. HOWEVER, you should always have a clear vision of a way out of the modern-day slavery called "a job". Alternatively, you can continue this way if you want to take an excuse from your boss everytime you have to go to the loo for the rest of your life, let somebody else determine how much you are worth, get fired or made redundant and re-employed, only to get fired or made redundant again and God knows how many times that might happen. You can also remain an employee if it is your dream to miss-out on your childrens life (you are gone before they wake up and back home just after they've gone to bed - but that is another day's topic). Infact, I could write a book on the cons of being in a job. But the truth of the matter is that "jobs" are demonic - simply put. Please note, I didn't say work. Everything in life revolves around work (doing something). But having a job (corporate or not) is SLAVERY because it ends up controlling your life. It dictates what you can or cannot do, what you can or cannot afford. And you are only free from it when you retire at 75, broke, busted and disgusted. And the worst part, you have lost the best of your days just to pay your bills. If you are reading this, there is still time. Please think of something at least. Men need Income, not salary Profit is better than wages God help us.
Wow. It's like you read my mind. I'll just like to add that, when you're on a salaried wage, your ratio of productivity to reimbursment is fixed. In other words, if you bust your balls for your employers and they have a really good month, you still get your same salary and if you're lucky a bonus and a promise of promotion (which normally will not materialize) no matter how much extra money they make of your sweat. Starting your own business involves a lot of risk and be under no illusions, is hard as hell, but the plus side is, no matter how small, it's yours to own and sell. And what you put in, is exactly what you get out. Good month, you buy a new car, bad month, you chill and work harder. Personally, this year, i'm doiing my own thing. I will be responsible for my own fate. |
Listened to the tune. Not bad. Lyrically, he's got all the ingredients. However, his delivery is more like a freestyle/battle rapper. Not sure if he'll get the deal rapping like that. It's the same thing that killed Papoose. Rhyme skills, but not commercial rhyme skills |
Vacora:Ditto |
Better picture of Blaise She's the one in the middle in case you're wondering |
I think So Sick will blow. Terry G is already established, so he doesn't count. Ollie Jay in London, he's good. Either way, it will be interesting |
Didn't see anything wrong with the video personally. It has some weird imagery, but the music scene is so crowded right now, you need to find ways to stand out. It's crisp and clean and since you're talking about it, it had the desired effect. Abi? If he's illuminati, that's fine and dandy for him. As long as he doesn't start rapping about it in all his songs, i'm cool with it. |
Some songs on Nigeezie might seem wack to you, but somebody else likes them. Who died and made you a music critic? Some DJ's might take payola, but if a song is hot, they'll be stupid not to play it, because it makes them look bad. I'm sure you're just another disgruntled artist. Sorry if your jam wasn't good enough. |
Not sure any of them is better than the other. Sasha showed early promise, but she needs A & R direction. Kel, hmmm, no comment |
Just downloaded this. Like it so much i wanted to show appreciation by leaving a comment. Well done guys. Can i post this to my facebook profile? Sorry, i'm a newbie, don't know how this works. |
