Yes. Bale destroyed Inter. But did he help his team to the UCL final??

If your are attempting to compare a spurs side that only managed to qualify for the CL after 48years to a juve side that had experienced CL winners on their ranks, you are on your own.

Lana1:

Even Walcott has also destroyed Milan in the UCL before. So that one no be valid point.

When/How did Walcott destroy Milan in the CL??

Lana1:

At the time of his big money move, Bale scored 21 goals but he wasn't the highest goalscorer. He wasn't the highest Assister either. He didn't make both Fifa and Uefa's team of the year in the same season.
But if he could go for £85 mill without any1 batting an eyelash, why then cant these same people Justify Pogba's transfer considering he's achieved way more now than when Bale made his own move to Madrid??

When you break the transfer record for a midfielder (who isnt exactly gonna guarantee 20 goals a season like Frank Lampard) ,It isnt outta place to expect him to be one of the top 3 players in the world. For me, Pogba has never been good enough to even make the top 5 list.

Like i said earlier, it was perfectly okay to have criticized Bale's Transfer fee that year but if Madrid were all out to buy a potential goal-scoring/Assisting Genius (as evidenced by his exploits in England), the comparison with the present Pogba doesnt cut it.

This is very true and obvious to a blind man.
And even at that, how exactly is it only English teams that are overpaying for talent?
How much did Barca(a team on d continent) by Suarez??
At the time of Bale's move to Madrid, the only notable achievements he had were two time PFA player of the year and one PFA young player of the year. And yet Madrid(a team on the continent) still priced him away for £85 mill.
So how exactly is Pogba's fee not justified??

Bale had announced himself in Europe - he single handedly destroyed Inter Milan in the CL.

I think he also scored 21 goals in his last season in England (an excellent record for a winger)

It was perfectly okay to criticize Madrid for paying such a huge amount (before he justified his price tag ofcourse) but i dont think we should compare a 23year old forward who was in the form of his life (prior to his move to Madrid) to Pogba's case.

I understand some people do not know much and i have no problem with that. But it's pretty annoying when you make a claim about knowing stuff but it's false, and when you get corrected again, you refused to accept.

That dude is an embarrassment.

Open secret : Van Gaal approved the signing of Herrera & Shaw - he stated it categorically..

Nah - He was only supporting the new signings he met on ground. I need another proof.

Herrera corroborates LVG's assertion with a "vote of thanks" where he clearly expressed his gratitude to the Dutchman ( for signing him)

Nah - are you sure he said so? I need a link to the interview..

Nah - if he were to be his signing, he woulda started him continuously blahblahblah.

Open secret : Di Maria's dissapointing form at Old trafford could be partly attributed to LVG's cluelessness..

Nah - Van Gaal thought that ADM shone as a winger (not as an attacking midfielder) & bought him...let's not blame the Dutchman. shocked

And you expect this kinda person to agree even when his brainfart is stinking up the whole joint?

At a certain age players become squad players, no crime in that. Schweini's combative style meant he was never going to age well. I like your choice of words here 'Ambition' now look at your midfield and compare with the rest of Europe and tell me if holding on to average players like Failaini, Herrera, Schneiderlin do anything to boost that ambition. Schweinsteiger is the complete midfielder when fit. A battle tested veteran who has a much higher ceiling and has delivered at a higher level than everyone in that your midfield. Including Carrick

Mourinho's abrasive and childish approach to every issue has always been his downfall. You don't tell a senior player at 32 to go and find a new club when the market out there isn't overwhelming. If you can't integrate him in your squad then you shop for options instead of building resentment. These players are not phools. Its Basti's turn today tomorrow it could be theirs

This is what you should be emphasizing and not the decision to deem him surplus to requirements..

If Mourihno's intention is to revamp our midfield (or squad as a whole), you cannot fault the decision to offload Bastian, considering his well-documented horrible injury record at the club (and even at Bayern before he joined us).

The midfielders you listed may not have performed to the standards expected but it wouldnt be outta place if a manager decides to give them a chance to improve......at the expense of a 32year old who has spent more time at specialist hospitals in the last 3 years Thereabout.

I personally do not like Mourinho's confrontational style - the way he handled Mata & Lukaku while at Chelsea seemed as if a personal vendetta he had against them clouded his sense of objectivity (if we are to take into account the fact that these were in-form players prior to his arrival). However, i can only fault the apparent disrespect he is showing Bastian & not the decision to ship him out of the club (if the rumours are true )

If Klopp didnt fail at Dortmund he wont be in the EPL right now, If Ranieri didnt fail everywhere he has gone, he wont be winning the weak EPL If Kirchoff didnt fail in Bundesliga he wont be at EPL, If Shaqiri, FUchs Okazaki etc didnt fail they wont be where its easy where a serial failure like ranieri can win the league

Same way the EPL was able to attract "failures" like Pep & Conte almost at the same time.

I'm not disputing Pogba could be the highest paid player at the club. It's quite possible when his basic salary is coupled with his image rights.
It's the wages of £400k gross or £220k net i was disputing in the first place and you haven't given any reason to end my disbelieve. I still maintain that £220k is more likely to be gross than net. £400 per week is a lot of money and i really doubt he's getting that. English media don't have a clue; it's the same way they usually convert € to £ directly when reporting transfer fees and it's another confusion here for gross and net.

Dadehmola:
Pogba? Highest paid player? shocked

Well, it only means we shouldn't concentrate on Rooney's performances viz á viz his wages again - new focus don dey!!

Pogba for Ballon d'or 2017 cool

That was my very 1st post on the issue & I have backed it up with excerpts from 4 different newspapers - the cluelessness of the English media is a debate for another day & you are free to criticize whichever newspaper you deem fit.

The bottom line is that Pogba (from all indications), could be our highest paid player & since you have agreed, there's no point going back & forth on this issue.

Nice try but the Mirror is saying £210k and the SUN £220k so i really doubt their correctness. The Mirror isn't a reliable source either. The SUN, mirror, Daily Star, Metro etc are all sh1tty sources in the same league. SKY and MEN used to be good unlike now they just report any rumor; i think the Telegraph is still decent and i rate the BBC as the best.

By reputable source, you should know what i mean bro.

I am not here to debate the reputation of newspapers as regards rumours, hombrè....

As well as around 13m euros net per season by way of salary, the 24-year-old will also receive another 7m euros a year in image rights.http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10515383/paul-pogbas-agent-finalising-midfielders-move-to-manchester-united

He will earn a basic wage of around £10.9m a season at United and is set to cash in on £5.8m of annual image rights.http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/694556/Paul-Pogba-medical-Manchester-United-agent-Mino-Raiola-transfer-fee-Juventus

I couldn't find any reputable source stating the samething and the SUN is simply unreliable so I really doubt what they've quoted as Pogba wages.

If the £220k per week figure is true, then it's most likely wages pre tax. In England actually, when wages are quoted it's usually before tax and that's most likely the case here but the SUN decided to bump it up being the piece of sh1t they are.

Manchester United have now SEALED a world-record £100million deal to sign Paul Pogba.

They have agreed to pay Juventus the massive fee for their France superstar and will hand Pogba a five-year contract worth £210,000-a-week, net.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-clinch-paul-pogba-8459617
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Dadehmola: 8:25pm On Jul 29, 2016
Obviously... undecided

This is being used by fans to justify the exorbitant fee which United are purporting to pay for Paul Pogba. In addition to stemming a click-bait epidemic during a summer-long transfer saga, the number six jersey has been left vacant for the French international to step into.

However, those with a basic understanding of business and finance will know that United will by no means gain anything close to the Pogba fee off the back of their free signing.

The whole point of Adidas’ “richest ever” jersey contract with United is so they profit from the jersey sales themselves. In 2015, the Old Trafford club began receiving a reported yearly windfall of £75 million over ten years from the German company. Dividends from the likes of Ibra as well as last year’s high vendors Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial will form what Adidas expected to be a £1.5 billion (yes, with a “B”) profit for them over the span of the deal.

Firstly, clubs usually only begin to make their royalty money once a certain amount of jerseys are sold. Given the market expectation for a worldwide brand like United, one would imagine that Adidas relinquish no capital until at least three or four million jerseys have been sold. Ergo, the majority of that £76 million will be resting in German coffers.

The club makes a percentage on each shirt that is subsequently sold. Jerseys bought from the club’s official site retail at €90 (roughly £75). Let’s say, as an example, that United receive 15% of every jersey sold. Obviously, as Adidas is the retailer producing the jersey (in Vietnam!), they bare the cost of that and set up deals with retailers around the globe. Therefore, United only see their cut of the money at the tail end.

Should half a million jerseys be sold at that £75 retail price, the gross profit figure stands at £37.5 million. United’s 15% bags them a total of £5.625 million. If you think that the 15% is too low a cut, let’s increase it to an outlandish (given their Adidas yearly reparations), 20% of one million jerseys sold. That astronomical volume of jersey sales would net a total of €15 million. Of course, all of this is before tax.

These are by no means paltry sums, but if you are paying Zlatan £200,000 a week (over £10 million a year) you definitely have a smaller pot of “profit” to sign your £100 million man from.
