I've always loved the military, not for any flimsy reason like their uniform or whatever but the discipline, life changing skills, experience and knowledge one get to gather, having had a close uncle who retired as a Colonel though late now. Within the last 4 years graduated from Uni, served, hustling as any normal Nigerian youth, got married and began my applications into the Nigerian army SSC began, first two times, failed to be shortlisted, then my third time which is the current going on, was shortlisted. Funny thing about my third time was that I was certain about being shortlisted even though I had no godfather, long leg or whatever but I already had doubts about going for the selection, watching video upon video of how soldiers are being killed for nothing due to the massive corruption in Nigeria and it's military too, soldiers complaining about corruption, no weapons, being generally tired of the job, both online and those I know personally offline. Got shortlisted as I expected, my love for the military still strong, quickly printed all my documents I've saved waiting, went to my bank got my bvn slip, almost did my ECG report but decided to first do some other things. University attestation; found out no head way due to my uni being on strike. I live in Lagos, and I'm expected to get Local govt proofs and signings from my LGA in an Eastern state, who are on Christmas and New year break due to it being a small LGA council. Began reaching out to people @ getting a Lt Col from my state to sign for me, all i reached out to, both civilians and military personnel all failed me, some are even yet to return or reply my calls and msgs and visits. All this in addition, the Nigerian army expects us to do within a week, that fell during the Christmas and New year celebration and holidays, and all of which you can hardly prepare for before hand because you stand little chance of being shortlisted or not at all even. Things are needlessly hard and frustrating in Nigeria and I'm sincerely tired, Nigeria kills dreams and it's either I make money and leave this country or I leave this country. The army could have shortlisted the names earlier, given 2 or more weeks to prepare, which didn't have to be within the period they did. The army have to do away with needless requirements, eg local government signing and all, Lt Col and above signing and other things, does it mean that a person knowing no top serving officer or personnel in the the military or police can't get into the military?, means the system is only made then for themselves i.e the military personnel and politicians and their kins and not for the common masses. Things can definitely be made easier. Even as a struggling young man having help from no angle, I'm expected to spend more than N50,000, traveling to my university, then to my state/LGA, then down to kaduna in addition to other things I'm to do all of which requires money, for a recruitment I stand little or no chances of making successfully. I guess all this needless process are done to waste people's time and get just those who the country already favor into the military, because out of the 30 persons per state only say 15 to 20 max who have the backings of a system that doesn't work, will be able to do all needed and required and then report for the screening. All is well though, even if my military dream in Nigeria is gone forever, maybe if I get to leave Nigeria and age is on my side I can still do so in a far better and organised country's military. I just hope if even though I know it's foolhardiness that Nigeria gets better and easier, things are not always done or gotten by suffering and hardship, but whether Nigeria gets better or not, I hope to be in a far better place, out of Nigeria soonest, achieving my dreams, though I know still seeing Nigeria and all its known for which are mostly negative on the news. Success to all those shortlisted going today and in the following days. If successful try to be a change in any little way or position you can. #Minus one candidate from Abia state. |
ugo4u:lol issues out of my hands, |
if I have the time or zeal will write about how Nigeria is built to frustrate you, I've 3 goals in my life: military, make money, or leave Nigeria, moving on to the remaining two. Nigeria as a country was created to frustrate and kill dreams and that's the truth. |
MrSuama:I'm married and applied as such, was shortlisted, so I guess that has nothing to do with the selection |
tataiwo09:I actually apply knowing nobody and was shortlisted, my third time of applying, but I'm not going |
odimbannamdi:hope no problem, if concerning this army ssc I'm not going or interested in it again, ever again. |
thanks @ugo4u and @odimbannamdi, I'm grateful, will see what I can do |
odimbannamdi:congrats bro on making the list again, I made it too, I'm from Abia too, stay in Lagos, being looking for referees to sign for me, can you kindly assist me in any way, will really be grateful |
ugo4u:Sorry bro about your hardluck, I made the SSC list, I'm from Abia stay in Lagos, I've been looking for referees to sign for me no luck yet, are you really certain about what you said above? |
it's to take them to court back and demand for the proper thing to be done @20yrs to be paid, because these people are just playing with people lives |
Millsz:My dad died Nov 2011, meaning they just paid a month, Jesus, that's too bad, guess that's why they refuse to pay 20yrs so that ppl can be short paid and they save themselves money |
thanks all, will do as you've advise@ brosiye99, segzy3, Alvaromorata |
my late father's entitlement my mum has been waiting and hoping on was just paid, just 60k and nothing else, after more than 20yrs of service at a good service level, and ptad is saying that's all and nothing more to be paid to NOks, I just don't understand this country. |
toast224:I'm just wondering |
heard NOks hv begin receiving monthly pension, who can please confirm? |
Ifedith:you've mi a2 lite 3/32gb available? price and delivery timeline to Lagos |
they definitely will #nepotism #man know man |
Daewoods:Nigeria is just a zoo and an unfortunate country to truly be born in |
ugo4u:I commented something similar 2 or 3 pages back but some fools that think life begins and ends on NL or with NA quoting me saying rubbish up and down, maybe na them strong pass or dedicated pass,, truth is I have applied 3 times to join the army but I'm having serious doubts about my current application if even I'm shortlisted, and not because of fear or whatever but the rubbish going on in Nigeria, There's difference serving ur country and been murdered for ur country, the truth is that cadets and soldiers are been murdered and that's just the truth nothing more |
Analee:that's just it my dear, I so much love the military but I wish I was from a better country eg Israel, uk, us etc where their military are given world class training and not just the suffer and torture ppl pass thru in the NDA and Depot, cadets dying and maimed needlessly,, still our military is nothing to write home about |
I hardly comment on NL or this thread in particular even tho this is my 3rd time applying, having watch all videos recently posted I think those stuff cadets punishing/drilling junior cadets hv been banned, whether so or not it's a shameful act and all involved in it are shameless truth be told. these things and the stuff lebete3000 described all hv no place in a modern military and that's the truth. Nigeria is a shithole and good for nothing country tho and I guess that's why it happens and continues to, despite my admiration and zeal for the military, I have my doubts joining the Nigerian army or military because things done in it are far from ok, modern or whatever. me and you guys joining should strive to be different and make a difference in any little way we can. Fact; Nigerian military can't face any modern military despite all rubbish being done and prided in at NDA and wherever else too, even to join the third class military is a thing of nepotism, man know man, I sincerely regret being a Nigerian mostly. |
