willjoe: Hello Willjoe, Law is a second degree in the US and I think same applies to Canada. Based on my understanding, US citizens also have to apply for loan in order to attend law school. As a result, your chances are very very very slim. However, if you want to do Masters in Law, you may apply to University of Calgary Law program. They do have scholarships for Masters and probably Ph.D program. I hope this helps, Regards 1 Like |

chaiks: Hello Chaiks, Honestly I am not that familiar with Europe. All I know about Europe is that they do have scholarships like DAAD and ERASMUS MUNDUS Scholarship which you may want to read more about. In Germany, their Universities are free but you need to take care of your living expenses yourself. I do not know if they do allow student to do menial jobs in Germany so that they can take care of their living expenses through that. As I have earlier said, I don't know much about Europe but you can always get some more information on google. I wish you all the best. |

chaiks: Hello, To be candid with you, your chances in getting to Canada without GRE is very slim and I will tell you why. Over the years, there are many students from China and Indian studying in North America (USA and Canada). As a result, they have an established record in virtually all the programs/department that an average Chinese or Indian will do well when admitted. However, relative to China and India, Nigerian students are few in North America. I want you to also note that there are many Chinese and Indian students with your kind of mindset that do not want to do the GRE. As a result, they will also be competing with you for the same spot where you are applying. So when the admission committee see all these applications, with comparable academic record, they will certainly be willing to admit Chinese and Indian students before looking at your application at all. However, when you do the GRE, it gives all applicants the same chance of being admitted. This is why I do encourage Nigerians to take the GRE. If you are willing to do the GRE, you can send an email to gre.nigeria@yahoo.com and the preparatory materials can be shared with you via the dropbox. In addition to this, USA schools have more funding (Scholarships) relative to their Canadian School counterparts. I hops this helps. Regards 2 Likes |

YerYer: Hello Yeryer, Your wife does not need to do the GED exam. NECO and WAEC are equivalent so I expect WES to accept. If they do not accept it, I will suggest that you try other US evaluation bodies like AES. AES website address is https://aes-edu.org/website/home/index.cfm As I have always said, it is better for anyone who wants to go to college (University) to follow a community college route because it is cheaper. She can complete her 2 years and then go to the University to complete the last two years. That will be the cheapest option. I think you should be able to apply on her behalf at YABA also. As regards a realistic time frame, that will depend on when WAEC or NECO sends the results for evaluation. The evaluation organizations in the US do not waste time. Once they get the results and you have filled all the necessary forms and make the payments, it shouldn't take time. The only issue that could prolong the process of the verification process which I think could be done online is if you buy the scratch card(if the evaluation organization accepts scratch card). However, if the evaluation organization decides to send the results back to YABA for verification, it could make the process longer because of Naija factor. I hope this helps. Regards 1 Like |

Quad2100: Hello Quad2100, I will suggest that you read through my post right from the beginning. I am sure all your questions have been answered. Do u have or know any one who is studying #Agriculture at the post-graduate level in an accredited Higher Education Institution in Nigeria? Here’s an opportunity for you! Apply for the 2017 Short-Term Visiting Scholars Program at Michigan State University under the Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Policy Project funded by the USAID Nigeria Mission Deadline: Application documents must be submitted to FTFNAPP@msu.edu by 11:59PM (Nigerian Time) on 23 February 2017. judithidoghogm: Hello Judith, I am not sure there is PGD in US and Canada. When you hear about college in the US or Canada, they usually award 1 year diploma and Associate degrees which is equivalent to our OND in Nigeria. Some colleges also award 4 years Bachelors degree for some courses. So if you are going to do a 1 year program, know that it is a diploma course and 2 year courses are Associate degree courses which is equivalent to 2 years OND in Nigeria. I hope this helps. |

HarkymTheOracle: The only school that comes to mind when it comes to giving full scholarship through SAT is Berea College. They have a no-tuition promise and you can read more about it in the link below: https://www.berea.edu/admissions/tuition-promise/ You may also want to check out these schools. I just stumbled on this online. it may also be helpful: http://www.thebestschools.org/magazine/tuition-free-colleges/ |

BlueWizAngel: Even though you are applying to a college (community college), please note that some community colleges offer Bachelors for some courses. It is also important to note that the fact that a school has "college" in its nomenclature (name) does not mean it is just a college. An example is Boston College in Massachusetts, USA. Boston College is not a college but a University that offers Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. I hope this helps. Regards 2 Likes |

Loreall: Hello Loreall, I will advise that you read through this thread from the beginning. After you might have read through, if you have additional questions, I will be willing to answer all your questions. I do not know any company that can help because you can always do everything yourself without any help. Part of the reason why I put all these information out there is because Nigerians have been defrauded by so-called companies calling themselves admission agencies and they end up getting them into glorified secondary school (mushroom Universities) here in the US and Canada. An incident happened to a friend and she had to switch to a better school when She came into the US. She finally had to do it herself after paying a lot of money to admission agencies. So doing it yourself is the best way. you can do the school search, contact admission offices and departments yourself via the email. you can even call them on the phone (take note of time zone though). So my Brother/ Sister, information is power and I believe there is a lot of information on this thread for you to go through the whole process without any hassle. I will suggest a do-it-yourself approach and I am very optimistic that you will be fine. I wish you all the best. Regards |

supergata: Hello supergata, I think what they are saying is that if you get into a University, and you did great in the first semester, you can order your transcript and send it to them. That will show them that your SSCE results is not a reflection of your true ability. An alternative will be for you evaluate your WAEC results with WES Canada. You may be lucky to have better grades from their evaluation and WES Canada will just send your results directly to the schools to which you want to apply. I will just advice that you do not consider the present school in your application if you are following the WES Canada option. I hope this helps, Regards |

BlueWizAngel: Hello BlueWizAngel, OND is equivalent to what they call an associate degree in US and Canada. As a result, you should not be applying to start as a freshmen (100 Level). So don't worry about your math deficiency. I will even say that you may not need to present O'level results. All you need now are your OND results and certificates. You should apply for a direct entry which means you are apply to start at the Junior year (300 Level). Their own direct entry is to 300 Level and not 200 Level like they do in Nigeria. So do not bargain for less. you may need to send them an email to make a case for yourself that you have an associate degree in computer science. That will make you finish up faster and will also reduce your cost of attendance because you will only need to pay for 2 years instead of 4. I hope this helps. Regards 2 Likes |

charliejose: Hello Udiboy, This is why you need to do a good search of schools that have your course of choice and carefully go through their admission process. Some school will automatically consider you for funding in form of fellowship, graduate research assistantship, or graduate teaching assistantship once you apply before a certain deadline, some will tell you to apply separately before you can be considered for funding in form of fellowship, graduate research assistantship, or graduate teaching assistantship while others will ask that you contact a professor and the professor must be willing to take you into his research group before you application can be considered. So different departments have different approach to this. Also I will like to clarify some issues as regards funding in terms of Graduate Teaching Assistantship and Graduate Research Assistantship. What most school offer is 0.5 FTE(Full time equivalent) which will cover your tuition, health insurance and stipends (a kind of monthly salary). That is the highest FTE that can be given to students because they expect that you spend the remaining 0.5FTE on your classes because you are a student. believe me, the 0.5FTE monthly stipend will always be enough to take care of all your needs in terms of paying rent, buying books, feeding and other basic needs. The monthly stipend also varies from State to State in the US and Canada because the standard of living in these states varies. So once you have funding in terms fellowship, graduate research assistantship, or graduate teaching assistantship that is 0.5FTE, you are fine. I hope this helps, Regards 3 Likes |

supergata: Final secondary (High) School Academic Transcript actually refers to all the classes and grades that from your SSS1 till SSS3. However, most schools in Nigeria do not keep good records, so what you need to send is your WAEC or GCE or NECO results. WAEC or NECO statement of result can serve as your diploma or certificate because it shows you graduated from high school. This is the Way it works in the US Primary school is called Elementary school in the US JSS1 to JSS3 is called Middle School in the US SSS1 to SSS3 is called High School in the US. I hope this helps, Regards |
