Meet Former Lagos state commissioner for works and infrastructure, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (popularly known as Femi Hamzat), on Monday, September 10, picked up his APC nomination forms to contest for the chance to fly the party’s ticket in the upcoming gubernatorial elections.

The politically-savvy technocrat contested against the incumbent governor in the 2014 primary election.

Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat was Born September 19, 1964 in Lagos state, Hamzat in August 2005 was appointed commissioner for science and technology during the tenure of former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He retained his position when former Governor Babatunde Fashola took over in 2007. Hamzat as commissioner for science and technology was topical as he enforced the application of modern technology in the state’s ministries, thus changing the face of data and record keeping in Lagos and at the same time eliminating the trend of state ghost workers.

Sanwo-Olu, who became the candidate of the APC after defeating the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, in the primary election, made the decision due to the support he received from Hamzat in the runoff to the primary, a source familiar with the situation told our correspondent.

Hamzat, a former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in the state, was a major contender in the race for the APC governorship ticket before stepping down for Sanwo-Olu.

He had said that his decision to withdraw from the race was borne out of greater good for Lagos than the benefit of an individual.

“Having been part and parcel of the formulation and execution of various policies and programmes that transformed Lagos right from former governors Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola’s administrations, I strongly believe that Sanwo-Olu is equally rooted to fly our party’s flag in the 2019 elections.

Atiku Abubakar was born on November 25, 1946 to a Fulani trader and farmer Garba Abubakar, and his second wife, Aisha Kande, in Jada village of Adamawa State.

Atiku Abubakar became the only child of his parents when his only sister died at infancy. Atiku’s father and mother divorced before his father died in 1957 and his mother remarried. Eventually, his mother died in 1984 of heart attack.

Atiku Abubakar could not start school when he ought to because his father was opposed to him obtaining western education. When his not going to school was noticed, his father was arrested and jailed until he paid a fine.

Consequently, Atiku Abubakar got registered into Jada Primary School at the age of eight. After his primary school, Atiku was admitted into Adamawa Provincial Secondary School Yola in the year 1960. He later finished his Secondary school in 1965 after he made Grade Three in West African School Certificate Examination. Atiku Abubakar then proceeded to Nigerian Police College, Kaduna. He left the college for a work as Tax Officer in the Regional Ministry of Finance.

Later he got admission to study at the School of Hygiene Kano in 1966. In 1967, he graduated with a Diploma. That same year, Atiku Abubakar was admitted for a Law Diploma at Ahmadu Bello University on a scholarship. He graduated in 1969 and got employed in the Nigerian Custom Service that same year.

Atiku secretly married his first wife Titilayo Albert, in December 1971, in Lagos, because her family was initially opposed to the union. Titilayo begot four children for him, Fatima, Adamu, Halima and Aminu.

In January 1979 he married Ladi Yakubu as his second wife in order to expand the Abubakar family having been the only surviving child of his parents, and they had six children: Abba, Atiku, Zainab, Ummi-Hauwa, Maryam and Rukayatu. In 1983 he married his third wife, Princess Rukaiyatu, daughter of the late Lamido of Adamawa and she gave birth to Aisha, Hadiza, Aliyu, Asmau, Mustafa, Laila and Abdulsalam. In 1986, he married his fourth wife, Fatima Shettima and she gave birth to Amina (Meena), Mohammed and two sets of twins Ahmed and Shehu, Zainab and Aisha, and Hafsat. Atiku Abubakar eventually divorced Ladi, this made room for him to marry, Jennifer Iwenjora who later changed her name to Jamila Atiku-Abubakar, and she gave birth to Abdulmalik, Zara and his youngest child, Faisal.

Having been employed at the Custom Service, Atiku proceeded for further studies to both Police College and Custom Training School.

After the studies, Atiku Abubakar was posted Idi-Iroko, a border town between Nigeria and Benin Republic. His assignments was to be in charge of the Lagos Airport, Apapa Ports, Ibadan Customs Command between 1974 and 1979. Later he moved to North and served in the Kano Command in 1976, then to Maiduguri ( as Area Comptroller) in 1977, from there to Kaduna in 1980 and back to the Apapa Ports in 1982. In 1987 Atiku was promoted to the post of a Deputy Director in charge of Enforcement and Drugs. In April 1989, aged 43, Atiku voluntarily retired from Customs. At different times, Atiku engaged in different businesses, including real estate, agriculture, trading, buying and selling. Atiku's business also includes a beverage manufacturing plant in Yola, as well as an animal feed factory.

Business:

In 1980, young Great was faced with serious challenges of life. Fourth in a family of 16 children, Great appreciated the full financial burden on his low-income civil servant father. He chose therefore to momentarily sacrifice higher education in the hope that decision would in the future be a positive turning point in the destiny of his family.

Consequently, in January 1978, he left home, clutching a bag that contained only four shirts and three trousers, and headed to Lagos in search of ‘greatness’ – a bold step of faith that would later transform so many lives beyond imagination. And so, his sojourn in corporate Nigeria started as a Marketing Officer in Exchange Fisheries, a small Lagos fishing company.

Exchange Fisheries became a “necessary apprenticeship opportunity”. For greater effectiveness in his marketing role, he enrolled into the Chartered Institute of Marketing, London. Just aged 25, Ogboru left paid employment and started his own business in 1983.

HON. OLADIPUPO OLATUNDE ADEBUTU was born in Lagos State on 25th February, 1962 into the family of Sir. Dr. Chief Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu OON, CON, KJW and Dame Caroline Oladunni Adebutu.

His father is the Balogun and Babaoba of Iperu Remo, Akogun of Remoland, as well as the Olotu of Lagos. He hails from the renowned Adebutu Family of Eti-Obale, Iperu Remo, and the Apondele royal family of Ode Remo, while the mother is the Yeyemode of Iperu Remo, Apesin of Lagos and Yeyeoba of Odogbolu and she hails from the Jaiyesimi Jaiye Okuwa family of Odogbolu.

Meet Oyo State 2019 PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Seyi Makinde, Seyi Makinde was born to a renowned teacher turned accountant; late Pa Olatubosun Makinde and Madam Abigail Makinde of Aigbofa Compound on 25th December, 1967 in Oja’ba, Ibadan, Oyo State.

It is a symbolic that the giant strides of Engr Seyi Makinde in the area of grassroots development, are great testimonial of the Makinde phenomenon. He has clearly demonstrated a strong character as a good visioner and a man with a large heart.

He is known for his philanthropic deeds just like his late father; Pa Olatubosun Makinde. He had made charitable donations and awarded scholarships to students across Ibadan, Oyo States and beyond. Widows were not left out from his charity programme. He also gave out micra cars to numerous people in the state.

A grandson of political icon, late Chief Adegoke Adelabu, the younger Adelabu is former a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Before his appointment at CBN, he was an Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of First Bank of Nigeria Plc. (FBN).

Late Chief Adegoke Adelabu, (Penkelemesi), as he was known,The name Penkelemesi was coined after he referred his opposition party as a Peculiar Mess. His listeners didnt understood what he meant as most of them were illiterates but heard the word as Penkelemesi. Mr Penkelemesi died in 1958, 11 years before ‘Bayo was born.
