Ned Nwoko who is the husband of a popular young actress, Regina has been removed as the senator representing Delta North Senatorial, Court of Appeal confirms.

The court of appeal took the decision this morning (Thursday) at the Federal High Court in Abuja after revealing that Mr. Ned Nwoko was wrongly picked by the National Electoral Commission.

Court of Appeal reveals;

“As at the time the matter was instituted at the Federal High Court, the case was statute barred. We set aside the decision of the Federal High Court and strike out the case,”

The court ruled.

INEC had withdrawn the certificate of return it issued to Mr Nwoko’s contender Peter Nwaoboshi, following the FHC decision.

With the appeal court decision, Mr Nwaoboshi will now be recognised as the senator-elect for the district.

Messrs Nwoko and Nwaoboshi are both of the PDP and had contested for the ticket of the party in the primaries. The PDP later won the senatorial election in the district with Mr Nwaoboshi as its candidate.

After the initial high court ruling, INEC withdrew the certificate issued to Mr Nwaoboshi and presented same to Mr Nwoko; a decision that would now be reversed based on the appeal court ruling.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has told President Muhammadu Buhari should blame himself and not the National Assembly for the delay encountered in the passage of the 2019 budget which was duly signed into law yesterday (Monday).

Dogora revealed that ever since President Buhari took charge as Nigeria’s President, He has not been able to present budget quickly. In fact, his first budget was the 2016 budget which was submitted on December 22, 2015.

Dogora quoted: ‘The minimum time the National Assembly requires to pass a budget is three months. But he presented it just nine days to 2016’ and that ‘what Nigerians didn’t know and the President won’t say is that the Executive through the various ministries continued to propose additional projects to be included in the 2018 budget even as at April and May which further delayed the passage of the 2018 budget.

While addressing newsmen on Tuesday, Dogara revealed that:

‘President Muhammadu Buhari a few days ago, in his usual characteristics of self-righteousness, and buck-passing blamed tardiness in the passage of budgets by the National Assembly for the delay in the completion of projects across the country by his government.

‘To be precise, the president said, “If the National Assembly takes seven months to pass a budget, then we should be commended for the much that we have achieved, and can still achieve.

I personally feel very disappointed. I spoke with the leaders of the National Assembly on the issue that seven months is a long time to work on a budget.”

‘Even though buck passing and blame game is not new to Buhari as it is now his stock in trade; in the past few days and weeks, there is no day that passes without the President blaming others in a desperate move to exonerate himself from any blame or failure of the Executive under his leadership to execute projects across the country.

‘In fact, very recently, Buhari blamed all his predecessors for failing to build infrastructure. And I wonder why? It was the general consensus that the former employees didn’t perform as expected and that was why Nigerians hired him for a job he has sought for four conservative times but here he is blaming the same people he replaced.

If you are the boss of ” Nigeria limited”, what will you do this employee? ‘Some weeks ago, he even blamed the media for failing to showcase his achievements. “ I’m very disappointed with the Nigerian press.

Loss of lives was canceled on Saturday morning as a tanker fully loaded with petrol crashed with a heavy truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reports.

The Corps’ Route Commander, Florence Okpe confirmed this to newsmen. Okpe, who further told the newsmen that the petrol tanker collision with truck happened around 2:51 a.m and four persons were on board, two were injured and thank God no death was recorded.

“A tanker with registration number LND-437 XC conveying PMS collided with a truck marked LRN-981 ZA around the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s youth center gate, Mowe, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, blocking the entire carriageway into Lagos.

“The tanker has spilled its contents on the expressway and both trucks blocked the entire access road.

“The RCCG and Sagamu fire services have been contacted, as standard practice, before transloading and removal of the fuel tanker were embarked upon.

“Also, Julius Berger Plc has been contacted to open the blocked section around the area, where they are currently rehabilitating, to allow vehicles have access as the gridlock has spread towards Kara near Sagamu,” she said.

She urged all motorists to always abide with traffic and emergency agencies working to restore traffic on the road to alleviate the frustration of road users.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) might be going on another prolonged strike after the ASUU national President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi said that the Federal Government has done nothing about the 2019 Memorandum of Action that was signed.

While addressing the newsmen in Abuja, the ASUU national President gave an update on the present newly signed agreement with the government and he said that N25billion was said to have been confirmed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu but no fund has been received yet.

Ogunyemi further said that the allocated fund was actually meant to be a part-payment of the Earned Academic Allowances and was also expected to have been disbursed to us since February based on the agreement but this fund was not allocated yet.

The ASUU President quoted below;

He said, “Since information on the amounts mentioned in the media went round, the ASUU has been inundated with enquiries on the union’s perspective to the story. Funding for the revitalisation of public universities has for years been of very high priority to ASUU.

“Reaching an agreement with the Federal Government has often been a frustrating journey for our union. It is often marked with protests, strikes and requires a conscious and focused engagement. The 2001 agreement, which gave birth to the 2009 agreement, was not an exemption. The exception here is the personality leading the government negotiation team. The current leadership of the government team clearly lacks the academic disposition and humility needed to undertake such task.

“Our members enjoy their work and hate to see any disruption in the smooth running of our universities. However, the level of frustration occasioned by the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards meeting the terms of the 2019 Memorandum of Action that was freely signed with our union is increasingly becoming unbearable.

“We, therefore, call on all Nigerian patriots, parents and students including the Nigeria Labour Congress to prevail on the government to keep to the terms of our agreement. Otherwise, our union should not be held responsible for any disruption in the system.”

You should be proud to have participated in settling outstanding pensions of many senior citizens abandoned by previous governments while supporting state governments to meet their salary arrears.

“And of course, you should all be proud to have overseen the most ambitious road, rail and airport rehabilitation programmes in the history of our country.

“I must put on record that your achievements in the last three and a half years has guaranteed your position in the history books of this nation. You have certainly built the foundations for an improved economy and a more purposeful government”.

Ariyo Aina Kano of Ogga Compound, Ogga, Yagba West LGA, Kogi State has been killed.

Ariyo was killed by Fulani herdsman yesterday the 18th of May 2019, at about 9am during a disagreement with the herders.

“If truly no man is above the law and the Constitution of the land is supreme. “Those that consider themselves as citizens of southern Nigeria has been butchered into fear and docility. I weep for the cowards but its their country, they can do whatever they like with it. Nigerians and certain individuals with Biafran names love slavery, we in IPOB don’t.

“How dumb are Nigerians and their miserable law enforcement and judiciary. When written laws are made not to apply differently to a section of populace like the Fulani, in the instance of Nigeria, then everybody is a fool. Why some people still pretend they don’t know what IPOB is fighting for is beyond me.

“I am afraid for the dwindling thinking capacity of your average miserable Nigerian. They can’t revolt, they can’t protest…..those that have the courage to protest are called all manner of unprintable names but they continue to suffer and complain but lack the courage to do anything about it.

The Chairman of Senate committee on youth and sport, Senator Obinna Ogba, PDP, Ebonyi, while addressing the press in Abuja during the verification of Lotto companies with license to operate in Nigeria, disclosed that it was unlucky that Bet9ja has failed to honor their invitation as Vanguard reported.

He further commanded the clerk of the house to rewrite to the betting company again

“Clerk, write to Bet9ja again. If they did not honor your our invitation again, we will ask the National Lottery Commission to seal their offices.”
