It was a sunday, sunny with clear skies was what the weather was like I was feeling so weak, afraid and tired A mixture of fear and hope was what filled the air With my hands on my head, "..have had enough." was exactly how i felt Voice in my head telling me, "Boy dont be scared, soon enough he's gonna open his mouth and say, Ahmed, why are you looking so scared" "No, No, No", the other voice cautioned "For the past 12 hours, he hasn't even opened his eyes yet" Then a real voice said, "Sorry, but you'll have to excuse us". As we walked out, I prayed "Oh Allah, a miracle is what we need, give it please" Not more than 5mins later, the doctor came out with a frown His words were short, precise and cruel Basit is dead I lost control Damn, I cried my eyes out Once again death strikes one by one it keeps taking the people i love First was my beloved cousin Kabir So much love we shared Then my GrandMa Too much love she shared Now its Basit I love my younger ones not more than i loved him We've been pals ever since he was a baby I would take him from his mother's arms I would throw him in the air and he'll giggle and laugh out loud Whenever he's in our house, he gets everything he points his fingers at Right there it dawned on me, at only 6 years old, For Basit this is sadly THE END. |
