OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: SUNDAY 2nd NOVEMBER 2025 THEME: THE TRINITY MEMORISE: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14 READ: 1 John 5:5-8 1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. MESSAGE Many people find it difficult to understand the concept of the Trinity. The Bible says in 1 John 5:7 that the Father, the Word – Jesus according to John 1:14 – and the Holy Ghost are one. They are one, yet they are three distinct entities. I’ll explain it this way: I am one man called Adeboye, but I can express myself differently in different situations. For example, if my wife breaks a ceramic plate, I will be gentle Adeboye; I will speak gently to her and ensure that she is fine. However, if it is my son, I could be furious Adeboye because I might be angry with him for being careless. I am the same person, but l’ll show different sides of myself depending on what is needed in different situations. God is one. However, He chooses to express Himself in three different forms. Water can be in liquid, gas (steam), or solid form (ice) based on changes in its temperature. In the same vein, God is one God, and He chooses to express Himself as the Holy Spirit when needed, the Word when needed, and the Father when needed. One expression is not less God than the other, just as ice or steam is not less water than its liquid form. God the Father is the side of God that is fatherly. However, just like Adeboye the father, which I described in the first paragraph, He can be strict in this form. During the dispensation of the Father in the Old Testament, people got immediate judgment for their sins. God the Son, who is Jesus Christ, came in the flesh, so as Hebrews 4:15 says, He has feelings just like us, and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8 ). He is the most relatable to us as He has gone through the temptations we are currently going through, and He advocates for us with the Father (1 John 2:1). God the Spirit is the creative side of God. He is the One who lives in you to do the things that were otherwise impossible to you (Romans 8:11, Philippians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 John 2:27, John 14:26 ). Beloved, knowing the Trinity will empower you to live above limitations. Also, to enjoy God’s fullness, you need to know Him as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I pray that you will experience the fullness of the Godhead in your life, in Jesus’ name. KEY POINT Knowing the Trinity will help you to enjoy the fullness of God and empower you to live above limitations. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: John 3-4 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE HYMN 18: PRAISE TO THE LORD THE ALMIGHTY 1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation! Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near, join me in glad adoration. 2 Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning; sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining! Have you not seen all that is needful has been sent by his gracious ordaining? 3 Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you; surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you. Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, if with his love he befriends you. 4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him! All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him. Let the Amen sound from his people again; gladly forever adore him. |

Prayer Points on "GODLY COUNSEL" 1. Father, I thank You for the gift of godly counsel and for Your promise that in a multitude of counselors, there is safety. Thank You for the wisdom and deliverance You make available to me through this divine provision, in Jesus' name (Proverbs 11:14). 2. Merciful God, I repent for every time I have proudly rejected, ignored, or been angered by the godly counsel You sent my way. Forgive me for valuing my own status, opinion, or feelings above Your instruction, just as Naaman initially did. Cleanse me from all pride and arrogance, in Jesus' name (2 Kings 5:11-12). 3. My Father, my God, create in me a meek and humble heart like that of Moses, the meekest man on earth. Let Your grace rest upon me, and deliver me from a prideful spirit that resists Your voice through whomever You choose to use, in Jesus' name (James 4:6, Numbers 12:3). 4. Lord, I pray for divine discernment. Open my ears to hear and my heart to recognize when You are speaking a life-changing word of counsel to me, whether through a superior, a peer, or someone of a lower status. Grant me the grace to instantly obey, just as Naaman eventually did, in Jesus' name (2 Kings 5:14). 5. Oh God, the All-Wise God, I pray for the leaders in my life—spiritual and secular. Grant them the humility, like Moses, to receive godly counsel that will preserve them, ease their burdens, and bring peace to the people they lead. Protect them from burnout and pride, in Jesus' name (Exodus 18:17-18). 6. Father, I decree that every spirit of pride and self-sufficiency that makes me reject simple instructions for my miracle is consumed by Your fire. Let every Jordan of humiliation You lead me to become a river of my transformation and breakthrough, in Jesus' name (2 Kings 5:14). 7. By the authority in the Name of Jesus, I declare that I will not miss my greatest miracle due to stubbornness. I align my heart to be receptive, knowing that my deliverance and success are tied to heeding the multitude of Your counsels, in Jesus' name (Proverbs 19:20). 8. According to Your word, I pray for wisdom to implement godly counsel effectively in my life, family, and work. As Moses appointed capable leaders, show me the practical steps to apply the advice You give me for greater efficiency and peace, in Jesus' name (Exodus 18:21-22). 9. I lift up Your son, Pastor E. A. Adeboye. Father, continue to surround him with wise and godly counselors. Uphold him by Your grace and preserve his meekness despite his great influence and anointing, in Jesus' name. 10. My personal prayer point: (Mention any specific situation where you are struggling to accept counsel, or where you need God to send you a clear, godly word of advice for a decision you are facing.) 11. Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayers. I declare that I have a meek and receptive heart. I will hear counsel, receive instruction, and be wise in my latter end, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen! |
Lord Jesus, I come to You with a deeply repentant heart, please, forgive me and wash all my sins away with your precious blood shed at Calvary. I surrender my life to you, today, and, I accept You, as my personal Lord and Saviour. Please, come into my life and save my soul from eternal damnation. |
OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 1ST 2025 THEME: GODLY COUNSEL MEMORISE: Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. Proverbs 19:20 READ: Exodus 18:13-26 13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening. 14 And when Moses’ father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? Why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? 15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: 16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. 17 And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. 18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. 19Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: 20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. 21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: 22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. 23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. 24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. 25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves. MESSAGE In 2 Kings 5:1-14, Naaman, a commander in the Syrian army, came to Elisha because he needed healing from leprosy. The prophet instructed him to do something he felt was way below his status – he was to dip himself seven times in River Jordan, a river he considered to be way below other prestigious rivers in his home country. Angrily, Naaman rejected Elisha’s instruction and was already on his way back to Syria when one of his servants counselled him to obey the prophet’s instructions. Thank God he heeded his servant’s counsel and did as Elisha had instructed. He was cured of his leprosy immediately, and his skin became like that of a newborn. If he had rejected his servant’s simple advice, he would have had to live the rest of his life as a leper. The greatest miracle of your life might be tied to hearing and obeying godly counsel. It is important to never ignore godly counsel, no matter the age or status of the person or people giving the counsel. Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. Proverbs11:14 In today’s Bible reading, Jethro travelled to the wilderness to visit Moses, his son-in-law. During his visit, he observed how Moses attended to every single issue that arose in the camp of the Israelites all by himself from morning to night, such that at the end of every day, he was always exhausted. After making this observation, Jethro counselled Moses on what to do. He told him to choose rulers of different ranks from among the people who could also judge matters that arose within the camp. Although Jethro didn’t have the burning bush experience that Moses had, Moses listened to him and received God’s counsel through him. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto he humble. James 4:6 Humility or meekness is an ingredient for receiving God’s grace. You need a meek heart to properly discern when God is speaking through someone and receive what He has to say to you through them. Moses was known as the meekest man on earth (Numbers 12:3), and his meekness was what made him able to receive counsel from people who seemed not to have attained his spiritual height and influence. No matter how high you get, God wants you to remain meek. Ask God for a meek heart to receive His counsel through whatever vessel or method He chooses to use. PRAYER POINT Father, please give me a meek heart so that I can receive Your counsel through whatever vessel or method You choose to use to speak, in Jesus’ name. OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: FRIDAY OCTOBER 31ST 2025 THEME: SAY TO THIS MOUNTAIN MEMORISE: For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23 READ: Genesis 1:1-3 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. MESSAGE God created the world by speaking it into existence, as we see in today’s Bible reading. The earth was in a terrible shape; it was void and covered in darkness. Amid this chaos, God called forth light to shine out of the darkness, and His creative work began. Hebrews 11:3 says, through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Everything that we see was created by the power of God’s word. There is creative power in the word of God. This is why, as a child of God, when challenges come your way, you do not complain. Rather than complain, you should put the word of God on your lips and speak His is will into existence. No matter the kind of obstacles that are hindering God’s will from being manifested in your life, He wants you to speak and command them to move out of the way. Who art thou, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. Zechariah 4:7 The authority to speak to mountains is not exclusively for ministers of God. Rather, it is for every genuine child of God. This means that, if you are a child of God and you command the mountains that are contrary to God’s will in your life to disappear in Jesus’ name, they will obey. The Bible says in Philippians 2:9-10 that at the mention of the name of Jesus, every knee in heaven, on earth, or underneath the earth, should bow. Some Christians speak to their mountains, but they say the wrong things. Instead of commanding a mountain to be moved, they plead with it for mercy or complain about it. When God says, ‘Speak to the mountain’, He wants you to address it squarely. However, you must get rid of doubt so you can speak authoritatively to that mountain. James 1:6 says: but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Beloved, doubt robs believers of their authority, and you must not permit it in your heart. Believe in the absolute power of God’s word without any doubt, and no mountain will be able to stand before you. KEY POINT Don’t complain about negative situations in your life; rather, speak God’s will into existence concerning them. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 23-24 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 3: ANCIENT WORD 1 Holy words long preserved For our walk in this world, They resound with God’s own heart Oh, let the Ancient words impart. CHORUS Ancient words ever true Changing me, and changing you. We have come with open hearts Oh let the ancient words impart. 2 Words of Life, words of Hope Give us strength, help us cope In this world, where e’er we roam Ancient words will guide us Home. 3 Holy words of our Faith Handed down to this age. Came to us through sacrifice Oh heed the faithful words of Christ. 4 Holy words long preserved For our walk in this world. They resound with God’s own heart Oh let the ancient words impart. |

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: THURSDAY OCTOBER 30TH 2025 THEME: RUN FROM REBELS MEMORISE: God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. Psalm 68:6 READ: Numbers 16:1-35 1 Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: 2 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: 3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? 4 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: 5 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. 6 This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; 7 And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi. 8 And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi: 9 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them? 10 And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also? 11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him? 12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up: 13 Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us? 14 Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up. 15 And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them. 16 And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow: 17 And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his censer. 18 And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron. 19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation. 20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 21 Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. 22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? 23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 24 Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. 25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him. 26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins. 27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. 28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. 29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me. 30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. 31 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: 32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. 33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. 34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also. 35 And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense. MESSAGE Today’s Bible reading is a sad story with many important lessons, It is a sad story because many people died avoidable deaths by joining a rebel to gang up against Moses, the man of God. The Bible reading begins by telling us that Korah and two brothers, Dathan and Abiram, came together to confront Moses. If you study the story carefully, you will see that the rebellion began with Korah because in many verses of the chapter, the words ‘Korah and his company’ were used. Just one man started a rebellion that killed about fifteen thousand people. Rebellion is deadly. The story might have played out differently if the other people mentioned in the chapter had refused to join Korah in the rebellion when he approached them. They should have discouraged him from being rebellious and counselled him to honor Moses. God can speak to anyone, but He doesn’t choose everyone to lead His people or be at the forefront of His move. If Korah had understood the sacred office that Moses occupied, maybe he wouldn’t have incited a rebellion against him. Today, there are also rebels in the body of Christ. They think that they know more than the spiritual leaders God placed over them and often believe that they should be at the forefront of what God is doing. If God has not called you into a particular office in His church, don’t try to bring those who occupy such offices down. Also, don’t try to operate in an office that God has not called you into because you will only expose yourself to danger. King Uzziah became leprous because he tried to function in an office God had not called him into (2 Chronicles 26:16-21). When people rebel against God’s ordained hierarchy, they become stranded in life. We live in a generation where some young people think they have enough revelation from God’s word to speak against the spiritual elders in the church. When some of them have a large social media following, they begin to think that they have attained a notable spiritual height and can say anything they like to anyone. Popularity and social media followership are, however, not the same as spiritual authority. Beloved, if there are rebels around you, run far away from them so that you do not partake in their judgement. Also, if you have been speaking disrespectfully against those that God has given the authority to lead the church, repent now. Rebellion is dangerous, and it never profits anyone. REFLECTION Are you supporting and keeping company with rebels? BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 21-22 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 31: YIELD NOT TO TEMPTATION 1 Yield not to temptation, For yielding is sin; Each vict’ry will help you, Some other to win; Fight valiantly onward, Evil passions subdue; Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. Refrain: Ask the Savior to help you, Comfort, strengthen and keep you; He is willing to aid you, He will carry you through. 2 Shun evil companions, Bad language disdain; God’s name hold in rev’rence, Nor take it in vain; Be thoughtful and earnest, Kindhearted and true; Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. 3 To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown; Through faith we will conquer, Though often cast down; He who is our Savior, Our strength will renew; Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. |

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29TH 2025 THEME: VICTORY IN HIS NAME MEMORISE: The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Psalm 20:1 READ: Psalms 118:6-12 6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? 7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. 8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. 10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. 11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. 12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. MESSAGE A person’s future can be influenced by his or her name. For example, Moses was so named in Exodus 2:10 because he was drawn out of water. throughout his lifetime, he continually had encounters with water. God used him to perform several miracles with water, including changing water to blood (Exodus 7:20), parting the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21), turning bitter water to sweet water (Exodus 15), and bringing water out of the rock (Exodus 17). A names are important; this is why God had to change the names of some people in the Bible so that their destinies could be fulfilled. My mother told me that on her way to see a priest concerning my baptismal name, the name she had in mind was Elisha. However, by the time she got to the Priest, she had forgotten the name, so she told him that she would name me Enoch. When she shared this story with me, I told her that I would keep the two names-Elisha, who had a double portion of the anointing, and Enoch, the man who walked with God. The names people are called are important to their destinies, but there isa name that is greater than all names, and that name is JESUS. In Philippians 2:9-11, the Bible says, Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father: In Psalm 118:10-13, David revealed the secret to his victory. He said that when the nations compassed him about, he destroyed them in the name of the Lord. He understood the power in the name of the Lord. Beloved, is there anything troubling you as a child of God Does it have a name? If it does, I congratulate you because you have just defeated it. As long as it has a name, there is a name above it. Even if doctors can’t find a name for anything that might be troubling you medically and they say that all they can see from their diagnosis is ‘nothing’, that is still a name, and when you trust in the name of the Lord, you will always be victorious. Call on the name of the Lord today, and He will give you victory over anything that is troubling you. REFLECTION Do you have absolute trust in the name of Jesus? BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 19-20 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 1: ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS NAME 1 All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall. Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown him Lord of all! 2 O seed of Israel’s chosen race Now ransomed from the fall, Hail him who saves you by his grace, And crown him Lord of all. Hail him who saves you by his grace, And crown him Lord of all! 3 Let every tongue and every tribe Responsive to his call, To him all majesty ascribe, And crown him Lord of all. To him all majesty ascribe, And crown him Lord of all! 4 Oh, that with all the sacred throng We at his feet may fall! We’ll join the everlasting song And crown him Lord of all. We’ll join the everlasting song And crown him Lord of all. |

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: TUESDAY OCTOBER 28TH 2025 THEME: SHINE THE LIGHT MEMORISE: Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Matthew 5:15 READ: Matthew 18:23-35 23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. 29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. 32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: 33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. MESSAGE Every true child of God is a shining light. You are the light of the world, and Matthew 5:1 6 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Light has one clear duty: shining. This means that anything that stops light from shining is its enemy. As a child of God, anything that stops you from shining is your enemy, and you must deal with it. Anything that allows darkness to gain the upper hand over light in a believer’s life is an enemy. In today’s memory verse, Jesus identified an object that can keep our light from shining and allow darkness to rule over light- a bushel. A bushel is typically a wooden bucket that was used for measuring dry goods such as peas or grains in the past. If someone lights a lamp in a dark room and puts it under a bushel, it will be impossible to tell that there is light anywhere in that room. One of the most dangerous bushels that has hidden the light of many believers is unforgiveness. The dangerous thing about unforgiveness is that it comes as just one bushel, but it multiplies itself into many other bushels that cover a believer’s light and keep it from shining. Unforgiveness always comes with bitterness, grudges, anger, and resentment. When someone offends you and you decide not to forgive the person, before long, you will find yourself resenting the person and refusing to speak amicably with him or her. Unforgiveness also hinders prayers from getting answered. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:25-26 Beloved, don’t toy with unforgiveness; it hides a person’s light and plunges the unforgiving person into darkness. When Jesus told the parable of the unforgiving servant in today’s Bible reading, He revealed the end of those who do not forgive-they are handed over to tormentors. Have you been hiding your light under the bushel of forgiveness? It is time to kick it away and let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). I pray that God will be glorified through your words and actions, in Jesus’ name. KEY POINT Unforgiveness is dangerous; don’t let it dim your light. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 16-18 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 24: I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS 1 I want to be like Jesus, So lowly and so meek; For no one marked an angry word That ever heard him speak. Psalm 119:114 READ: Psalms 32:6-7 6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. 7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. MESSAGE In my early years of being the General Overseer of RCCG, my wife came to me during one of our annual conventions and said, “To feed the people today, we need an extra 5,000 naira.” I asked her, “Darling, when do you need the money? Today or now?” She asked, “What’s the difference?” I then told her that there is a lot of difference between today and now. She then replied, “We need the money today.” I told her, “In that case, you can go. When I have the money, I will give it to you.” At the time she came, I didn’t have any money with me, but I knew that there is a God in heaven who is my hiding place. I can always run to Him when there is trouble. When my wife left, I turned to my Lord, “The people have come. They are Your people, and You can’t allow them to starve.” Not long after, a man who was not a member of the church drove into the Redemption Camp (now Redemption City) and came to see me. He was just passing by and saw a large crowd coming into the camp. He was curious, so he asked, “What is going on here?” I told him we were having our annual convention. He replied, “Beautiful! Next year, I will be part of it.” He then put his hand in his pocket, brought out an envelope, and said, “In the meantime, let me support the church with this token.” I prayed for him, and he left. When I opened the envelope, I saw that it contained 1,000 naira. I said to myself, “Thank God. We have 1,000 naira down and 4,000 naira to go.” Shortly after, the leaders of the youths in the church came to me in the office and gave me an envelope. I prayed for them, and they left. I opened the envelope, and it contained 2,000 naira. Not long after, I sent for my wife and gave her the 5,000 naira She had earlier requested because God miraculously provided another 2,000 naira. In Psalm 61, the Psalmist cried that God should lead him to a rock higher than him. God’s word is the rock that hides us from trouble and shame. Beloved, you can never be stranded when you put your hope in God’s word. When you put your total trust in His word, He will hide you in His secret place and ensure you are never put to shame. PRAYER POINT Father, please hide me in your secret place. Let me not be put to shame, in Jesus ‘name. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 13-15 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 19: ROCK OF AGES CLEFT FOR ME 1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, From Thy riven side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure, Save me from its guilt and power. 2 Not the labor of my hands Can fulfill Thy law’s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All could never sin erase, Thou must save, and save by grace. 3 Nothing in my hands I bring, Simply to Thy cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress, Helpless, look to Thee for grace: Foul, I to the fountain fly, Wash me, Savior, or I die. 4 While I draw this fleeting breath, When mine eyes shall close in death, When I soar to worlds unknown, See Thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee |
