OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: TUESDAY OCTOBER 14TH 2025 THEME: DON’T WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW MEMORISE: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 READ: Matthew 6:25-34 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. MESSAGE Many people get so worried about their future that they forget to do the right things today. Today’s Bible reading says that you should not worry about tomorrow because God will take care of it. Sufficient unto each day are the troubles thereof; hence, you should face today’s issues rather than worry about tomorrow. Believe me, worry is an absolute waste of time. Jesus said that you cannot add one cubit to your stature by worrying (Matthew 6:27). Worry weakens; instead of worrying, believers should trust God with their future. Whatever is placed in God’s hand will always blossom. Don’t ever think you know how to make your tomorrow good; you have absolutely no idea of what is going to happen tomorrow. For instance, many people had made careful plans before the corona virus pandemic hit. However, because of the pandemic, they had to put their plans on hold. So many things that are beyond your control can happen, so it is better to place your future in the hands of the One who is the Beginning and the End. This is why James 4:13-16 says that you don’t know what will happen tomorrow, so whenever you are talking about the future, you should acknowledge that whatever happens will be dependent on God’s will. I was less than 40 years old when I became the General Overseer of RCCG. One day, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw grey hair all over my head. I asked God, “Lord, how did this happen? I’m still a young boy.” At that time, the church had some problems, so the Lord said to me, “lt is because you’re carrying a burden that is not your own.” I replied, “It’s the burden of the church.” He asked, “Whose church is it? Is it the church of Adeboye?” I replied, “No.” Then He said, “Who told you I can’t take care of My own burden? You are carrying a burden that is not yours. I just made you General Overseer so that people will see you as My representative. I am the owner of My church, and I will take care of My church.” After hearing this, I relaxed, and my hair became black again. A few years ago, I saw some strands of grey hairs on my head and asked God, “Lord, am I worrying again?” He said, “No. This time, you are getting old.” Beloved, do not worry. Instead, put your trust in God because He always takes care of His own. KEY POINT Never give in; Choose to trust Gou instead. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 4-5 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 29: WHEN PEACE LIKE A RIVER ATTENDETH 1. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought My sin, not in part but the whole Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh, my soul 3. Prayer Points on "Handling Threats" 1. Father, I thank you because you are the God of all power and might, and no one is able to withstand you. Thank you for being my defense and for the assurance that the battle against threats is yours, not mine, in Jesus' name (2 Chronicles 20:6, 15). 2. Lord, I repent of every fear, worry, and anxiety that makes me fidget or hide when the enemy threatens me. Forgive me for taking my eyes off you and looking at the size of the threat. Wash me clean and restore my peace, in Jesus' name (2 Chronicles 20:3). 3. Spirit of the Living God, in the face of any threat—spiritual, physical, or material—help me to immediately set myself to seek the Lord, as King Jehoshaphat did. Stir up in me the spirit of prayer and fasting, in Jesus' name (2 Chronicles 20:3). 4. I decree and declare that every adversary, bully, and enemy that is incensed against me, my family, and my destiny shall be ashamed and confounded. They shall be as nothing, and they that strive with me shall perish, in the mighty name of Jesus (Isaiah 41:11, Memorise). 5. O Lord, my God, arise and confuse the counsel of my enemies! I invoke the divine strategy of warfare: Let every unholy alliance against me turn against itself. Let the enemies fighting me begin to destroy one another, just as you did for Jehoshaphat, in Jesus' name (2 Chronicles 20:22-23). 6. Father, open my eyes to see my position in Christ. I put my trust in you, for I know that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I refuse to be afraid or dismayed by any threat, in Jesus' name (1 John 4:4, 2 Chronicles 20:15, 17). 7. I receive the grace to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Instead of fighting in my own strength, I choose to praise you! Let the weapon of praise trigger my victory and cause your ambushments to fall upon every adversary, in Jesus' name (2 Chronicles 20:17, 22). 8. I command every spoken or unspoken diabolical threat against my health, my business, my marriage, my children (or my future children's delivery/well-being) to be silenced by the power of the Most High God. Just as you fought for the woman and her daughter, Lord of Hosts, fight for me! I declare safety and victory, in Jesus' name. 9. Father, cause your fear to fall upon every kingdom and power that hears of your victory in my life. Let the realm of my life, my family, and my work be quiet because you, my God, have given me rest round about, in Jesus' name (2 Chronicles 20:29-30). 10. Heavenly Father, I pray the specific Key Point in the devotional: Please arise and silence every threat of the enemy against my family and destiny, and let the words of my adversaries return to their own head, in Jesus’ mighty name (Prayer Point). 11. Father, I pray for Pastor E. A. Adeboye. Preserve him, grant him greater strength and fresh revelations, and let the message of God's power over every threat continue to touch and transform lives globally, in Jesus’ name. 12. My personal prayer point: [Mention a specific threat you are currently facing or a fear you need God to deal with—e.g., a difficult financial situation, a legal battle, or an oppressive person in your life.] 13. Thank you, Father, for hearing my prayers. I declare that the devil is a defeated foe, my victory is sure, and I will gather spoil in the very area where I was threatened, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen! May the Lord give you perfect peace and complete rest as He handles every threat for you! |

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: MONDAY OCTOBER 13TH 2025 THEME: HANDLING THREATS MEMORISE: Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Isaiah 41:11 READ: 2 Chronicles 20:1-30 1 It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. 2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be Hazazon-tamar, which is Engedi. 3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD. 5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, 6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? And rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? And in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? 7 Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever? 8 And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, 9 If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help. 10 And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not; 11 Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit. 12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. 13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. 14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; 15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. 18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. 19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high. 20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. 23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. 25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. 26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day. 27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies. 28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD. 29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel. 30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about. MESSAGE In Acts 4:1-31, the apostles were threatened by the chief Priests and elders not to speak in the name of Jesus again. However, they gathered together to pray, and as they prayed, the place where they were gathered was shaken, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. The devil is a bully, and like all bullies, he does not like being confronted. If someone threatens you for doing the will of God, that is not the time to start fidgeting or hiding; that is the time to pray. In today’s Bible reading, three great enemy nations came to threaten Jehoshaphat, and he was terrified. He felt threatened by the size of the enemies, and this led him to seek God. As Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah fasted and prayed, God gave them the strategy that would destroy their enemies – praise. As Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah began to sing and praise the Lord, He set the enemies against one another, and those who had previously been united against Judah suddenly turned against themselves and began to kill one another. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 2 Chronicles 20:23 God silenced the threats of the enemies without Jehoshaphat having to lift a sword. In the name above every other name, my Daddy will arise to silence every threat of the enemy against your life and destiny in Jesus’ name. Some years ago, a woman came running to me, shaking badly. Her daughter was pregnant, and her enemies had come to threaten her, saying, “Your daughter is pregnant? We will see where she will deliver whether on the ground or in the air. We will use every diabolical means to ensure she never gives birth.” The woman was frightened, and I said to her, “Fear not! Your daughter will deliver safely.” She asked, “How do you know?” I replied, “Because the Lord of Hosts will fight for you.” Indeed, the Lord fought for her, and she delivered safely. Beloved, I know a God who is stronger than the strongest. He can handle every threat that comes your way. When the enemy threatens you, do not be afraid. Instead, put your trust In God because greater is He that is in you than he that in the world (1 John 4:4). PRAYER POINT Father, please arise and silence every threat of the enemy against my family and destiny, in Jesus’ name. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 1-3 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: SUNDAY OCTOBER 12TH 2025 TOPIC: LIVING BEYOND LIMITATIONS MEMORISE: “And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.” - (Genesis 21:19) BIBLE READING: GENESIS 21:13-19 (KJV) 13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed. 14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba. 15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs. 16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept. 17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. 19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. MESSAGE: Elijah was a man who experienced the help of the Holy Spirit to rise above human limitations. In a time of grievous famine, he enjoyed good food and water (1 Kings 17:3-6). While others were dying of hunger, he enjoyed supernatural provisions throughout the famine. When you have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, you will receive divine instructions that will keep you from experiencing some hardships that other people experience. In times of famine, you will be satisfied, and you will not be ashamed in the evil time (Psalm 37:19). In (1 Kings 18:44-46), when the Lord sent rain to Israel, Elijah outran the chariot of the king of Israel. Kings always have the best and fastest chariots and horses in the land, yet Elijah outran the best of the best because the Holy Spirit was upon him. I pray in the name above every other name that the hand of the Lord will rest upon you, and you will begin to live above natural limitations. Ignorance is one of the worst limitations any human being can face. A lot of times, people do not recognise the resources that can save and deliver them, even when they are under their noses. This puts a lot of people under very terrible limitations. Ephesians 4:18 likens ignorance to darkness and blindness. In this Scripture, Paul said that some people have their understanding darkened and are alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their hearts. When people who can see are in darkness, there is still hope that when light comes, they will see the things that surround them. However, when people who are blind are in darkness, that is another level of darkness altogether. Ignorance limits people and keeps them from seeing what God has made available to them. In today's Bible reading, Hagar experienced this kind of limitation until God opened her eyes. When your spiritual eyes are open, you will rise above the limitations that keep others down. Beloved, you must soak yourself in the word of God so that your spiritual eyes can be open. When you engage with God's word daily, it will brighten your path and give you the understanding required to journey through life successfully (Psalm 119:105). I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see the solutions He has provided to your challenges and remove every veil of ignorance that limits you from enjoying His fullness today, in Jesus' name. PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, please open my eyes to see the abundant resources You have made available to me, in Jesus' name. Prayer Points on "God Doesn't Ignore True Worshippers" 1. Father, I thank you for the priceless privilege of being called your worshipper. As I worship you, let my worship attract your divine attention, transforming every hopeless situation in my life and making me whole, in Jesus' name (Matthew 8:2-3). 5. Give me the grace to approach your presence with the awe and fear described in the memory verse, to bow low and surrender my all to you, in Jesus' name (Psalm 5:7). 6. Holy Spirit, empower me to break my alabaster box of worship daily. Help me to spend quality time pouring out my love and sweet fragrance of praise upon God for who He is, not just for what I want to gain from Him, in Jesus' mighty name (Mark 14:3). 7. Father, let every demon and evil spirit flee from my life, my home, and my circumstances as I worship you. Let the power in my praise drive out every oppression, affliction, and sickness, just as it did for Saul, in Jesus' name (1 Samuel 16:23). 8. I decree that because I am a true worshipper, I will not only see miracles around me, but miracles will become my daily experience. Let my prayers be answered quickly because the voice of a sincere worshipper is music to your ears, in Jesus' name. 9. Heavenly Father, I pray the specific Key Point in the devotional: Help me to live a holy life and make you the center of my attention in the place of worship. When I worship you for who you are, I believe you will not withhold any good thing from me, in Jesus’ mighty name. 10. Father, I pray for your son, Pastor E. A. Adeboye. OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: SATURDAY OCTOBER 11TH 2025 THEME: GOD DOESN’T IGNORE TRUE WORSHIPPERS MEMORISE: But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Psalm 5:7 READ: Matthew 8:2-4 2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. MESSAGE In Matthew 15:21-28, when a Canaanite woman came to Jesus to ask Him to deliver her daughter from a demon, She came worshipping, I believe that her genuine worship and faith in Jesus Christ helped her obtain the miracle she requested. In today’s Bible reading, a leper came to Jesus and worshipped Him. Jesus touched him and spoke healing to him; his worship attracted a physical touch from Jesus. The man’s condition was hopeless until he met Jesus and worshipped Him. He bowed down as a leper to worship Jesus; however, by the time he finished worshipping and got up, he had been made whole. Your worship will make you a candidate for God’s personal touch, and when God touches a fellow, his or her life is transformed positively. Jesus said in John 4:23: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is not seeking part-time worshippers; rather, he is seeking those who will make worship their lifestyle. He wants those who will keep breaking their alabaster box and pouring their sweet fragrance of worship upon Him (Mark 14:3). When you worship God, you should put all your attention on Him. It is not about what you can get from Him; It is about who He is. When you make God the center of your life and throw yourself in Him in the place of worship, He will not withhold anything from you. I have always told my children that everyone else may see miracles happening around them, but worshippers always experience miracles in their lives. When you are a worshipper, the testimonies you read of in the Scriptures and hear about will become your daily experience. Whenever a true worshipper prays, God is always quick to answer. When you worship, demons flee from you because they cannot dare to stay in a place where God is. This is the explanation for what happened in 1 Samuel 16:23: And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so, Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him. Beloved, live a holy life and spend quality time worshipping God daily for who He is and not just for what you want to gain from Him. When this becomes your lifestyle, you will see Him perform mighty wonders in your life. REFLECTION Do you spend quality time worshipping God everyday? BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 25-26 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. Lord Jesus, I come to You with a deeply repentant heart, please, forgive me and wash all my sins away with your precious blood shed at Calvary. I surrender my life to you, today, and, I accept You, as my personal Lord and Saviour. Please, come into my life and save my soul from eternal damnation. |
OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: FRIDAY OCTOBER 10TH 2025 THEME: THE WORD OF GOD MEMORISE: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 READ: Psalms 119:25-27 25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. 26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes. 27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works. MESSAGE God’s word is light. Psalm 119: 105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” When light is absent, people stumble and miss their way. I pray that the light of God will brighten your path and guide you through life, in Jesus’ name. The word of God is also truth. John 17:17 says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” When you want to know the truth about anything, search through the scriptures. When you want to know the truth about your health, don’t keep staring at a medical report; instead, focus on God’s word and believe in what He has said in His word concerning your health. 1 Peter 2:24 says that by His stripes, you were healed. This is a settled matter, and regardless of what any report says, good health and healing is the truth about you. When you want to know the truth about your finances, read through God’s word, not the economic report or forecast. Economists can say whatever they want to say, but you must choose to believe the word of the Lord. God’s word contains the truth about everything that concerns you. God’s word is also life (John 6:63). If anything in your life or around you I s dead, God’s word can bring it back to life. By His word, Peter’s dead business received a net-breaking, boat-sinking revival (Luke 5:1-7). By His word, the dead son of the widow of Nain jumped back to life (Luke 7:11-15). God’s word is alive. According to today’s memory verse, His word is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Today’s memory verse further tells us that the word of God reveals things that are ordinarily not easy to see or understand. There is nothing hidden under the sun that God’s word cannot unveil (Hebrews 4:13). Apart from unveiling the things that are hidden, God’s word brings peace amid storms. When Jesus and His disciples were trying to cross to the other side of a sea, they didn’t expect that they would be caught in the middle of a storm. The storm came, and it was so fierce that the disciples thought they would die. They began to panic, but thankfully, Jesus was in the boat, and His word calmed the storm (Mark 4:35-39). Beloved, God’s word contains all that you need in life. All you have to do is study it, believe it, meditate on it, and apply it in your daily life. KEY POINT God’s word contains all you need to succeed in life; let it guide you daily. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 23-24 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE HYMN 3: ANCIENT WORD 1 Holy words long preserved For our walk in this world, They resound with God’s own heart Oh, let the Ancient words impart. CHORUS Ancient words ever true Changing me, and changing you. Holy Spirit, empower me to be watchful over my tongue. Help me to speak words seasoned with grace and salt, and to tear down every negative imagination or fear that tries to gain expression through my mouth, in Jesus' name (Colossians 4:6). 7. Father, deliver me from the temptation to speak negatively when things don't go my way or when circumstances look unfavorable. Grant me a faith-filled voice that speaks your promises into every situation, in Jesus' mighty name. 8. I decree a complete deliverance from speaking like the unredeemed. Let my life truly reflect your glory by the purity and power of my speech. Let my words be wholesome and full of grace, in Jesus' name. 9. Heavenly Father, I pray the specific Key Point in the devotional: Words have the power to create or destroy. Help me to be eternally careful what I say by filling my heart with your Word, so that I may always speak life and not death, in Jesus’ mighty name. 10. Father, I pray for Pastor E. A. Adeboye. Preserve him, grant him greater strength and fresh revelations, and let the message on the power of the tongue continue to save and transform lives globally, in Jesus’ name. 11. I will speak life and walk in victory, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen! May the Lord empower you to use your words to create a powerful, victorious life! |
OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: THURSDAY OCTOBER 9TH 2025 THEME: THE POWER OF WORDS MEMORISE: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21 READ: Hebrews 13:5-6 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. MESSAGE Careless words can drain a Christian’s spiritual battery. When a believer keeps speaking words that are contrary to God’s will for his or her life, such a believer will end up deflating himself or herself spiritually. When your heart is filled with God’s word, and your words agree with His word, you will remain strong in faith and vibrant in the Spirit. Psalm 107:2 says, let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; Do you know why the redeemed of the Lord must ‘say so’? It is because there is power in what we say. If you are the redeemed of the Lord and you keep speaking the words of the unredeemed, you will reap the fruits of the things you say. When a believer whose speech should be gracious and seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6) keeps speaking negative and careless words, it is only a matter of time before his or her life starts to look like the negative words that have been spoken. When things don’t go your way or when the economy looks unfavorable, do not forget that you are the Redeemed of the Lord, and as a result, you are programmed for victory. Hence, you should not re-program yourself for failure and defeat through your words. Fill your heart with the words of God so that His words will continually be on your lips no matter the things or situations that come your way, for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). If you, however, occupy your mind with wrong or negative words, those words will come to play when the storms of life arise. You can’t be bold enough to say that the Lord is your helper when you have not heard and believed that God will never leave you nor forsake you. What you keep hearing is what builds confidence or fear in you. In any circumstance you find yourself, check what God’s word says concerning it; hold on to the word and speak it into the situation. Ensure that the words on your lips align with what God has said in His word, but to do this, you must fill your heart with His word. You must ensure that the words of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16). When God’s word fills your heart, your words will be wholesome and full of grace, and your life will truly reflect His glory. KEY POINT Words have the power to create or destroy. Be careful what you say. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 21-22 AUTHOR: PASTOR E. Romans 8:9 READ: Galatians 5:16-18 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. MESSAGE Today’s Bible reading tells us that the flesh and the Spirit are constantly at war, and the one we feed is the one that will win. To live above the flesh, a child of God must keep feeding and filling his or her spirit with the word of God. The story of Peter in Luke 22:54-62 is very sobering. He was one of the disciples whom Jesus sent to some cities and towns to preach the gospel and who returned with joy because devils were subject to them (Luke 10:17). He was also present when Jesus fed the five thousand (Mark 6:35- 44) and raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-44). At some point, he even walked on water (Matthew 14:28-29). As long as Peter fed his spirit, the devil couldn’t touch him. However, the moment he began to feed his ego by boasting that he would never deny Jesus (Matthew 26:34-35), he became weak spiritually. Jesus had warned Peter that the devil had targeted him to make him fall (Luke 22:31), but instead of running back to the secret place to fortify himself, he kept boasting about his inability to fall until he eventually fell. When you don’t feed your spirit, you will become vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. You will become overly sensitive to offences and will easily get annoyed and irritated by many things. Feeding your spirit must be a regular exercise. In Matthew 6:34, Jesus said, “..Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” In other words, to overcome the evil of each day, you must feed your spirit every day. You must spend time in God’s word. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night…” You must also spend time in prayer so that you won’t become a victim of the enemy. Some pastors have become so familiar with the word that they don’t see the need to study their Bibles and pray as before. They can cook up a sermon in a short time, and this makes them think they are okay spiritually. If you keep starving your spirit, it is only a matter of time before you will become dry. Don’t let the devil deceive you into thinking you are okay when you are not feeding your spirit. He wants to drain you so he can conquer you. Beloved, feed your spirit every single day by studying the word of God and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit. REFLECTION Have you been feeding your spirit or your flesh?
