THEME: THE LORD IS MY LIGHT

MEMORISE: The LORD is my light and my salva tion; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall l be afraid? Psalm 27:1

READ: Genesis 26:1-12
1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.

8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

10 And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? One of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.

MESSAGE
When you submit to the Lordship of Jesus, He becomes your light. When the Lord becomes your light, you will have access to hidden mysteries. When others complain about a casting down, you will keep rejoicing because God’s light will show you the way to enjoy a lifting up (Job 22:29). As we see in today’s Bible reading, Isaac enjoyed the light of the Lord. While others were dying in famine, he thrived, flourished, and became very great because God lighted his path and showed him what to do.

Enjoying God’s light begins with acknowledging and submitting to His Lordship. When God told Isaac to stay where he was during the famine, he did not argue. You cannot enjoy God’s light when you walk in the light of your own fire. Isaiah prophesied about people who walk in the light of their own fires:

Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow. Isaiah 50:11

Walking in the light of your own fire means doing things your way and leaning on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 says you should not lean on your own understanding. Those who lean on their understanding eventually end up being sorrowful because they will later realize that the way they thought was right was actually wrong (Proverbs 14:12).

When the Lord is your light, you will walk in the way that is right, not in the way that seems right. He will show you the way you should walk in and lead you in the paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3). As your light, the Lord will lead you in the way that you should go and guide you with His eyes because you are His responsibility (Psalm 32:cool.

You cannot remain in the dark about the enemy’s plans when the Lord is your light. In Acts 23:12-22, Paul was in prison, and some people conspired to kill him. They made the perfect plan to deceive the chief captain of the prison by telling him that they just wanted to ask Paul some questions, but their real plan was to kill him. However, God arranged for Paul’s nephew to overhear their evil plot, and he exposed them. When God is your light, He will expose the enemy’s plans and keep you safe from every evil plot.

KEY POINT
When the Lord is your light, He will expose your enemies’ plans and grant you access to hidden mysteries.

HYMN 28: GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH
Guide me, O thou great Jehovah
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but you are mighty;
Hold me with your powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
Feed me now and evermore,
Feed me now and evermore.

2 Open now the crystal fountain,
Where the healing waters flow.
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
Ever be my strength and shield,
Ever be my strength and shield.

3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside.
Death of death, and hell’s Destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever sing to you,
I will ever sing to you.

Prayer Points on "THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD"

1. Father, I thank You because You are the LORD, my Shepherd. Thank You for the assurance in Your Word that because You are my Shepherd, I shall not want for any good thing—physically, spiritually, or materially—in Jesus' name (Psalm 23:1, Philippians 4:19).

2. Lord, I sincerely repent of every moment of restlessness, anxiety, and self-dependence where I have tried to force my own path or provide for myself outside of Your leading. Forgive me for not fully trusting Your ability to make me "lie down in green pastures," in Jesus' name.

3. My Good Shepherd, lead me today! I desire Your rest and provision. Lead me to the "green pastures" of divine opportunities and sustenance, and beside the "still waters" of peace, rest, and sound sleep. Let hunger, worry, and restlessness be strangers to my life, in Jesus' name (Psalm 23:2, Psalm 127:2).

4. Father, You are the Restorer of my soul. I stand on Your promise for total restoration in every area where the enemy, life's challenges, or my own mistakes have caused a loss. Restore my health, my joy, my finances, and the years that the cankerworm and caterpillar have eaten, in Jesus' name (Psalm 23:3, Joel 2:25).

5. Holy Spirit, I ask for Your guidance. Guide me "in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake." Help me to hunger and thirst after Your righteousness, that I may be filled, and guide me into all truth in my daily decisions, in Jesus' name (Psalm 23:3, Matthew 5:6, John 16:13).

6. I declare divine presence and victory over every fear! Even as I walk through the "valley of the shadow of death"—be it a financial crisis, sickness, or intense trial—I receive the grace not to fear any evil, for You are with me. Let Your rod and staff comfort me, in Jesus' name (Psalm 23:4, Hebrews 13:5).

7. Father, I thank You that You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies. I decree that I will enjoy prosperity, success, and celebration where my mockers and adversaries can see Your goodness. Let the evidence of Your blessing silence my foes, in Jesus' name (Psalm 23:5).

8. Lord, anoint me afresh! I ask for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to consecrate and empower me for a life of fruitfulness. Let me receive so much that my cup runs over, and I become a channel of blessing to others, in Jesus' name (Psalm 23:5).

9. I pray for all Your true sheep worldwide who are struggling to find rest, restoration, or provision. Manifest Yourself as their Good Shepherd; open their blind eyes, lead them out of the prison of lack, and set them free from all affliction, in Jesus' name (Isaiah 42:7).

10. Father, I pray for your son, Pastor E. A. Adeboye. Uphold him as a faithful shepherd of Your global flock. Let his own cup continually run over with divine health, wisdom, and anointing, in Jesus’ name.

11. My personal prayer point: (Mention a specific deep-seated fear or long-term area of lack, and pray for the Shepherd's presence to remove the fear and the Shepherd's provision to meet the need, knowing you will not be shaken because He is at your right hand).

12. Thank You, Father, for answering my prayers. I declare that I am Your sheep, I know Your voice, and I follow You. Therefore, I have peace, rest, provision, and eternal life, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen!

MEMORISE: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

READ: Psalms 23:1-5
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

MESSAGE
David was a shepherd boy before Samuel anointed him as Israel’s king. In fact, Samuel had to send for him while he was taking care of his father’s sheep (1 Samuel 16:11-13). Hence, he fully understood what it meant to be a shepherd, and that was why he acknowledged God as his shepherd in today’s Bible reading. Sheep enjoy many blessings under their shepherd. Our Lord is, however, not just a shepherd; He is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11).

Beloved, before the blessings of the Good Shepherd can be yours, He must be your Lord, and you must be His sheep. God does not shepherd those who are lords of themselves, neither does He shepherd goats.

These are some of the blessings of having the Lord as your Shepherd:
1. You will never lack rest. David said in Psalm 23:2, “He maketh me to lie down…”When you are God’s sheep,

2. You will not lack sleep. God gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2).

3. You will be well-fed. Hunger is a stranger to God’s sheep because He causes them to lie down in green pastures (Psalm 23:2). Psalm 63:5 says, “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness… “

4. You will never lack restoration (Psalm 23:3). In Joel 2:23-26, God promised that He will restore the years that the cankerworm and caterpillar have eaten. No matter what you lose, you are assured of total restoration when the Lord is your shepherd.

5. Your thirst will be satisfied because He will lead you beside still waters (Psalm 23:2). Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”

6. You will not lack guidance because He will lead you in the paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3). Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth (John 16:12-13). With the Holy Spirit in charge of your life, you will have absolutely nothing to worry about.

7. You will have nothing to fear because you will enjoy God’s divine presence. Even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you will fear no evil, for He will be with you (Psalm 23:4). In Hebrews 13:5, He promised to never leave you nor forsake you.

Beloved, acknowledge the Lord as your shepherd in every area of your life. Entrust your life to Him completely, and you will enjoy these blessings and many more. I pray that the Lord will truly manifest Himself in your life, in Jesus’ name.

5 Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

8 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

MESSAGE
Who is a lord? A lord is someone you are required to submit to. A lord is someone you do not say no to. When people go to court, they address the judge as ‘my lord’. Nobody in their right senses will dare argue with a judge after a verdict has been given in a law court. The only thing people can do if they don’t like a verdict is to appeal to a higher court. However, to argue with a judge, whom they address as ‘my lord’ in court, is unthinkable.

When a fellow surrenders his or her life to Jesus Christ, He not only becomes the fellow’s savior, He also becomes his or her Lord. As your Lord, Jesus is in control of your life. He determines what you do, where you go, and how you must behave. You don’t have the liberty to speak anyhow again because He is now your Lord. For instance, you cannot spend your money the way you like because you are no longer your own. When you understand the Lordship of Jesus and d submit to Him as your Lord, you will enjoy the countless benefits of having Him as your Lord.

I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth my flesh also shall rest in hope. Psalm 16:8-9

In the Scripture above, David knew God as his Lord and submitted to Him. He knew he was no longer in control of his life, so he was always setting the Lord before him. When you set the Lord before you in all you do, He will make sure nothing harms you; He will defend, protect, and preserve you. This Lord is the Lord of hosts, and He has all forces in heaven, on earth, and under the earth at His disposal. To submit to Him is to have everything He owns at your disposal.

The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name. Jeremiah 51:19

Beloved, have you surrendered your life completely to Jesus Christ? Do you know Him as your Lord? Your success in life lies in knowing and submitting to God as Lord of all in your life.

Prayer Points on "WHOM TO MARRY"

1. Father, I thank you for Your Word which provides clear, foundational truth concerning the sanctity of marriage and the guidance needed to choose a life partner. Thank You for the divine wisdom available to me, in Jesus' name (Memorise, Matthew 7:20).

2. Lord, I sincerely repent of any past, present, or latent desire to compromise Your clear command: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers." Forgive me for any time I have prioritized emotion, lust, or carnal attraction over spiritual alignment, in Jesus' name (2 Corinthians 6:14).

3. I ask for the grace and discernment to distinguish between "nice" and "born again." Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see people not just as they appear on the surface, but to know them by their true spiritual fruits, in Jesus' name (Matthew 7:20, Message).

4. Father, I declare that I will not stand on miry clay! I refuse to be yoked with anyone whose foundation is not firmly on Jesus Christ, the Solid Rock. Deliver me from the delusion of thinking I can change an unbelieving partner after marriage, in Jesus' name (Message, 1 Corinthians 10:12).

5. Holy Spirit, I decree that I will not marry a person who stubbornly refuses instruction, reproof, or correction. Give me the wisdom to identify and avoid anyone who despises their own soul by rejecting godly counsel and authority, in Jesus' name (Proverbs 15:32).

6. I pray for divine alignment and connection with a partner who is spiritually mature, constantly growing, and has authority figures they listen and submit to. Bring me a partner who will sharpen my spiritual countenance and not cause me to stumble, in Jesus' name (Proverbs 27:17, Message).

7. Father, deliver me from every attachment to carnal Christians—those whose hearts are more captivated by the things of the world than by spiritual things. I refuse to marry someone whose worldliness will cause me to fall from grace, in Jesus' name (Message).

8. I bind and cast out every spirit of desperation, impatience, and pressure that would lead me into marrying the wrong person. I receive the patience to wait for Your perfect will, so my marriage will be a testimony of heaven on earth, in Jesus' name (Message).

9. Father, for all those who are already married and are struggling because of an unequal yoking or a difficult partner, I pray for divine intervention, strength, and grace. Grant them the wisdom to stand firm in their faith without losing their salvation, in Jesus' name (Key Point).

10. I pray for your son, Pastor E. A. Adeboye. Uphold him with your righteous right hand and grant him continued health, strength, and divine insight to shepherd your flock, in Jesus’ name.

11. My personal prayer point: (Mention a specific area of character, spiritual quality, or relationship need you desire the Holy Spirit to perfect in you before marriage, or a specific prayer for your future partner).

12. Thank you, Father, for answering my prayers. I declare that I will marry Your choice for me, and my marriage will be a covenant of light, growth, and joy, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen!

THEME: WHOM TO MARRY

MEMORISE: Wherefore by heir fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:20

READ: 2 Corinthians 6:14-16
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

MESSAGE
Today’s Bible reading says that you should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers; hence, Christians should not get married to unbelievers. If Christians get themselves yoked in marriage with unbelievers, thinking they can change them, they are only deceiving themselves. People who refuse to change before marriage hardly ever change after marriage. It is also important to note that being nice or courteous is not the same thing as being born again.

As a child of God, you are standing on God, the Solid Rock. An unbeliever, on the other hand, is standing on miry clay. When you are standing on a rock, and you are holding somebody who is standing on miry clay, the chances are very high that the fellow standing on miry clay will cause you to either stumble or fall completely because he or she is standing on slippery ground. This is what happens with many believers who think they can change their un-believing partners. Their partners will, more often than not, cause them to stumble and fall, and they might end up losing their faith in the process. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:12: …let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

Also, Christians who are not yet married should not marry people who stubbornly refuse to listen to corrections and make necessary changes in their actions or behaviors. The Bible says in Proverbs 15:32: “He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.” If you are a Christian who is not yet married, don’t marry someone who doesn’t have an authority figure that he or she listens and submits to. Anyone who does not listen to anybody or submit to anyone will not listen to you either.

Also, it is not advisable for a believer to marry an immature Christian. It is better for a believer to marry someone who has attained a level of spiritual maturity and is constantly growing so they can sharpen each other.

Iron sharpener iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Proverbs 27:17

If you are not yet married, do not marry a carnal Christian because such a fellow’s attachment to the things of the world rather than spiritual things can also cause you to stumble and fall.

Beloved, marrying the right person is like experiencing heaven on earth. However, if a fellow marries the wrong person, he or she will experience hell on earth.

KEY POINT
Christians who married should be careful of whom they marry.

Correct Answers

1. A. Giving place to the devil in your life. (Rationale: Ephesians 4:27 states: "Neither give place to the devil." Allowing anger to linger provides the devil a foothold.)

2. B. A city that has no walls. (Rationale: Proverbs 25:28, as quoted in the Message, says, "He that has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls." )

3. B. Swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. (Rationale: James 1:19 is quoted directly in the reading portion, instructing believers to be "swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." )

4. C. Someone who says in his heart, 'There is no God.' (Rationale: The devotional states that anger rests in the bosom of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:9) and that an easily angry person is similar to one who says "there is no God"—both are considered fools (Psalm 14:1).)

5. B. Constantly renewing your mind with His word and submitting yourself to counselling. (Rationale: The final paragraph of the Message recommends these two steps: "Constantly renew your mind with His word and submit yourself to counselling..." )

THEME: NO MORE ANGER

MEMORISE: Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:26-27

READ: James 1:19-20
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

MESSAGE
Ecclesiastes 7:9 says that anger rests in the bosom of fools. In other words, if a fellow gets angry easily, he or she is similar to someone who says there is no God- they are both fools (Psalm 14:1).

Those who get angry easily often blame other people as the cause of their anger. If this is the case, then it means that they allow the people who offend them to control their emotions. Proverbs 25:28 says that a person who is not in control of his spirit is like a city that has no walls. If you allow others to control how you feel, then you are in great danger of destruction.

Proverbs 29:22 says, “An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.” Anyone who gets angry easily will hardly have friends because he or she will always stir up strife with them. Things that shouldn’t ordinarily cause quarrels would become big issues because of the fellow’s short temper.

A man once bought a brand-new car, and one day, while he was washing it, his five-year-old son was on the other side of the car, writing something on it with a sharp object. When the man discovered this, he got very angry and shouted, This boy! You are scratching my new car!” In his anger, he grabbed the first thing he could lay his hands on -a hammer. He then began to smash the boy’s hands. By the time he realized what he was doing, the boy’s fingers had already been severely damaged. He rushed the boy to the hospital, but the doctors could not do anything about the fingers, and they had to be amputated. The following day, the boy asked him, “Daddy, when will my fingers grow back?” Feeling guilty, the man went to the car and looked at what the boy had written on it. Lo and behold, it was, “I love you, Daddy’. The man could not bear the pain we felt thereafter, so he committed suicide. His anger wreaked havoc on the family.

Beloved, if you allow anger to control you, you are giving room to the devil (Ephesians 4:27), and whenever he gets into a place, his mission is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). If you are always quick to get angry or you can’t control your anger, ask God to deliver you today. Constantly renew your mind with His word and submit yourself to counselling so that you can overcome the destructive power of anger.

KEY POINT
Do not give room to the devil in your life by allowing anger to control you.

THEME: THE ALL-POWERFUL GOD

MEMORISE: Ah Lord GOD! Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Jeremiah 32:17

READ: Jeremiah 51:15-16
15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

16 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

MESSAGE
All power in heaven and on earth belongs to God. Psalm 62:11 says, “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God” This means that nothing is impossible for Him to do.

In Jeremiah 32:27, He said, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Luke 1:37 also tells us that with God, nothing shall be impossible. Whenever anybody tells you that a situation you are in is impossible, you should know that such a person is not considering that God is all-powerful. Once you consciously invite God into a situation, things change dramatically for the better.

In 1979, we were getting ready for a congress. We called it Christ The Redeemer’s Congress in those days. We used to hold the congress in different cities and feed everyone who attends. In preparation for this particular congress, my wife and I went to the market to buy some cows. We wanted to buy three cows to feed the people that would attend, but when we were told they would cost seven hundred and fifty naira in total, we went back home because we didn’t have the money. We asked God, “Lord, what are we going to do? Where shall we get the money to buy cows?” We began to pray, and suddenly, somebody knocked on the door. When we opened the door, we saw a brother who had come all the way from Lagos. He said, “Sir, I hope you have not bought cows yet.” We replied, “No, we don’t have the money.” He said, “I have already bought three for the congress.” The All-powerful God who has the cattle upon a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) provided just what we needed at the nick of time.
The All-Powerful God can change any story, no matter how bad it is. Zacchaeus was regarded as a sinner by everyone in his town. However, when Jesus met him, his story changed. God’s power changed Zacchaeus and made him a new person (Luke 19:1-10).

Beloved, all power in heaven, on earth, and underneath the earth belongs to God, and He can transform lives, marriages, finances, and every other thing you can think about. If there is any negative situation in your life, invite God into the situation by taking it to Him in prayers and trusting Him. He will manifest Himself mightily in your life and turn that situation around for good.

PRAYER POINT
All-powerful God, please show Yourself mighty in my life, in Jesus’ name.

8. Heavenly Father, help me to understand and embrace the truth that worry is an absolute waste of time and that by worrying, I cannot add a single good thing to my future. I choose to trust God with my future instead, in Jesus' name (Matthew 6:27, Message).

9. O Lord, my God, arise and take charge of every burden that I have foolishly carried—burdens for my ministry, my family, my business, or my health—and give me the grace to relax and know that You are the owner and you will take care of your own, in Jesus' name (Message).

10. Father, I pray the specific Key Point in the devotional: Give me the divine strength to never give in to worry and to choose to trust You instead in every situation of my life, in Jesus’ mighty name.

11. Father, I pray for Pastor E. A. Adeboye. Preserve his life, grant him continued strength and rest from every unnecessary burden, and let his life and ministry remain a global testimony of your faithfulness, in Jesus’ name.

12. My personal prayer point: [Mention a specific future-related anxiety or worry you need to hand over to God, e.g., concern over a child's school, a pending major decision, or a financial deadline].

13. Thank you, Father, for hearing my prayers. I declare that I will take no thought for the morrow, because you will take thought for me, and it is well with my soul, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen!

May the Lord grant you peace that surpasses all understanding as you trust Him with your tomorrow!

Lord Jesus, I come to You with a deeply repentant heart, please, forgive me and wash all my sins away with your precious blood shed at Calvary. I surrender my life to you, today, and, I accept You, as my personal Lord and Saviour. Please, come into my life and save my soul from eternal damnation.
