I wish I could show you what they proposed paying.

They suggested the sum of, I kid you not the sum of 1600-7700 naira per 8hrs of call(NOT PER HOUR). They also proposed that they will only pay up to 5units/ 40hrs of call.

If nigeria pays by the hour like abroad, instead of salary per month, although small, it would still be workable, meaning that the government will only be able to pay doctor for 2 calls days per month. Anything that want to happen due to lack of manpower can happen and it won't be the doctor's fault since he can't work for free.

Even a prostitute earns higher than what they want to pay a doctor for 8 hrs of call duty. They defined a unit of call as 8hrs of call duty.

Call duty is when a doctor is required to work for 24hrs or more.

In most government hospitals, the doctor will resume 8am do his/her Normal work while being on call, after he finishes his normal work, either goes to the emergency or wherever he is to do call till the next day. The next day, he reviews the patient's he saw during off hrs(4pm - till 8am next morning) after which he does the next day's work and goes home by 4pm the next day.
Only to come to work the next day. Very few hospitals offer the next day as off duty


Some departments even make doctors work 72-96hr calls.(coughs in surgery/neurosurgery department)

This is different from the normal Monday 8-4pm work.

Most doctors work from minimum of 3- 10 calls per month depending on how little the workforce is.

Also, the circular also said they can only work/pay for maximum of 5 units of calls per month. Meaning that they will only pay peanuts for 40 hrs.

Which employer won't exploit that?

They want to cut doctors' salaries plain and simple.

That Odo-Iya Alaro between Maryland and Ojota is a notorious extortion point for Lagos police in conjunction with Task force revenue boys.

There is no BRT demarcation there and there is no clear sign to warn you that it is a BRT lane, yet they make at least N10 million from that spot via the extortion of hapless motorists, everyday..

Even if you put up sign there as a citizen or human rights person (since the government refused to do it), the extortionist task force boys will remove the signs so that undiscerning motorists will fall into that lane and get apprehended, causing gridlock for motorists on the other lanes.

If Lagos government is a people-friendly government, they should impose 'No-clear sign-No Fine' policy..

If you get caught on a BRT or one-way road, the police and task force are mandated to show that there is a CLEAR AND CONSPICUOUS road sign warning you before entry.
If there are no CLEAR sign, no motorists should pay any fine for any infractions.

Writing 'BRT LANE' on the ground ALONE is not a clear sign. There should be a demarcation and a sign board. At night or in the evenings, you can hardly signs written on the ground.

The coalition government between the NPC and NCNC was plagued from the on start by mutual mistrusts .

The senior northern NPC which controlled the executive through the PM position was trying to wrest the near absolute power Azikowe and his NCNC had on the army.

The likes of the Sarduna had come to realize too late the imbalance in Nigeria's Military especially within the officer cadre and was carrying out mass recruitment drive in northern secondary schools to redress the imbalance. The Sarduna only began paying attention to the Military after it became known through the constitution that the powers to appoint who heads the military lied in the hands of the President and not the PM. The position and powers of the President had been broadened and expanded by Zik after sucfesfully getting Parliament to remove the British Monarch as the ceremonial titular head and expand his powers from Governor-General to Sovereign Head of State as the President.

The position held by Zik had changed when Nigeria became a Republic in 1963 with Zik now having more powers as the Head of State unlike his previous limited and mostly ceremonial role as Governor General.

As the President, Zik now had full and absolute discretion in making some appointments without recourse to both Parliament and the senior coalition partners in the NPC who held the PM position. One of many such positions was the appointment of who will head the Nigerian Army and Police. Zik had cunningly got others in Parliament to dump the Queen as Ceremonial Head of State so that he can assume the position towards ensuring he gets to appoint solely whoever he wanted in such positions. Other than the Police and military, the appointments of VCs and Rectors and Permanent secretaries, ambassadors now came under Zik's exclusive sole responsibility. Note that at this time, the Nigerianization policy was still ongoing and the relics of the Colonial era were still holding their positions. One such prominent position was the British Maj. General who as at 1964 was still heading the Nigerian Army and was tasked with nominating his succesor. Major-General Welby-Everard had nominated three of rhe most senior officers to Azikiwe in descending order of whom he thought was most and least qualified to head the army. Brigadier Maimalari was both the youngest in age and lowest in rank but the British Maj General had him on the top of the list as the most qualified for the job citing his brilliant and stellar military career compared to his superiors. Zik , will rather choose the least qualified in the form of his fellow Ibo , Ironsi whom the British Maj General wrote the least of. Zik, had now abused his new powers to push his ethnic agenda. The Nigerianization policy was now being seen by others especually northerners as an Igbonization agenda with Zik doing all in his newly expanded powers to place his fellow ibos in vantage positions of power. During the 1964 federal election crisis, the President and Prime Minister jockeyed for control and loyalty of the army. In the heat of the crisis some of Ojukwu’s colleagues alleged that he approached them with a plan to overthrow the civilian government and replace it with a military government. The matter was reported to the army’s then commander Major-General Welby-Everard. Nothing happened as Zik stepped in to ensure Ojukwu did not face any internal disciplinary action or criminal prosecution for sedition and treason.

A lady was introduced to me by a street sister after I mentioned that I was in search of a serious relationship. I gave a clear list of my requirements, among which were that she must be gainfully employed and of good character.

Two days ago, the sister finally shared the contact of the lady she found for me. I was hopeful, thinking she would at least meet 80% of my criteria.

When I initiated a conversation with the lady, I asked about her educational background. She told me she was a secondary school drop-out. I didn’t judge her immediately, I wanted to hear more and not jump to conclusions.

So, I asked what steps she had in mind to upgrade herself. She said she wanted to go into business and gave a rough estimate of ₦3.5 million as startup capital.

Still, I wasn’t discouraged. I told her that if I were to invest in the business, I would hold 60% of the company while she holds 40%. My reason was simple: I wanted her to be accountable and run the business with a sense of ownership.

To my surprise, she rejected the idea. She said she wanted 100% ownership because she is “trustworthy” and that I could observe her for one year to see if she wouldn’t mismanage the business.

I let that conversation slide.

Then, a few days later, during another conversation, I asked her what she was bringing to the table in the relationship. Her response? Just “prayer.” 😂

At this point, I started enjoying the conversation ,not because I was impressed, but because her responses were becoming increasingly ridiculous.

I asked her another question: How much do you think we would need per month to live as husband and wife?
Her answer: ₦1 million.

I asked her to break it down. She couldn’t. She just kept rambling and listing irrelevant things with no clarity or structure.

This morning, she called me via WhatsApp video. While we were talking, the call ended. I tried calling her back, but the video didn’t connect. I noticed she was typing, so I waited.

Next thing I saw was: “My data got exhausted.”

From the very beginning, I knew I was way above her standard , intellectually, financially, and in life exposure. But I decided to subject her brain to an intelligent conversation to prove a point: most of these broke ladies have absolutely nothing meaningful to offer.

To my fellow hustling men who have sacrificed and worked hard to become something in life , please don’t settle for women like this. Look out for women who have built themselves to a meaningful stage in life.

I have two degrees. I’m a lawyer. And here is a lady, a secondary school drop-out , who thinks, in her oblivion, that she can hook a man of my calibre.

I called the sister who introduced her and clearly told her never to bring such people my way again.

I know how this kind of story ends: you help them build a life, and the moment they start seeing a little change, you’ll see their true colours. Many of them think the only thing they need to offer in life is their body.

I’ve cut off communication with her already, and I’m planning to block her on WhatsApp.

Her unreasonable thought process completely turned me off. So many ridiculous ideas. It’s just mentally exhausting.

If you depend on someone to find you a suitor, you will never find what you want. They will simply give you their friends or relatives.
