Xiaomi phones have build quality issues you can look at their thread.

Samsung s10plus is a good choice because it has better build quality, will support more updates, and will have a higher resell value in the future. Also it's parts can be sourced, this can't be said for Poco X3 pro.

Miui is also no match to one UI.

New Midrange over old flagships... especially in the Android Ecosystem. We have midrange SoCs like the Dimensity 820 and 1000l which perform better than the SD845 which was a flagship SoC, and it's not just that.

Most OEMs on the Android Ecosystem offer at most 2 Android OS upgrades so why purchase a device at the end of its life over one that's just starting?

Take the Galaxy S8 for instance with the Snapdragon 835 SoC which is theoretically a better performer than the 720G in the Redmi Note 9s but then you realise that the S8 will not officially be getting Android 10 and unless you're going the custom ROM route, that's the Android version you'll be stuck with unlike the Redmi Note 9s that has the propensity to go up to Android 12.

Also, since these older flagships are discontinued by the OEMs you'll have extremely limited support. You won't get security patches, or at least not as often, and you're obviously a long way from any warranty claims if your device breaks (assuming you didn't buy a used device).

Now taking a step away from Android and into iOS is a different situation. iPhones receive up to 5 years of support from Apple, so even buying a 2 year old flagship like the iPhone X you'll still receive support for as much as 2-3 years. Apple devices have not been the best in terms of battery longevity but if you can afford maybe a replacement then you'll be good to go.


TL;DR? New midrange over Old flagship (within the Android ecosystem).


PS: The duration considered is 2 years as one year old flagships tend to still be more expensive than new midrange devices.


Forgot to mention this earlier. Newer midrange devices also benefit from better improved hardware and design like more efficient fabrication process, new radio (5G), WiFi 6, more versatile camera setups etc.

Hire and Fire has always been the trend of EFCC chiramanship. The problem is not sacking or appointment of EFCC Chairman.

The problem is to get a chiarman who can truly fight corruption without unnecessarily being a stooge of the president. From Obasanjo to Buhari, all Nigerian presidents 1999 to date have always used EFCC as a tool to fight opposition. None truly fought corruption. Is Tinubu going to be an exception? If Tinubu can truly fight corruption with the new EFCC chiarman, then he will win my support. But the hope is very faded. How can he fight same people that brought him to power. Wait when he constitute his cabinet and release money to them. Then we will know.

Below are the list of EFCC CHAIRMAN from 1999 till date and below are known corruption cases under Buhari administration begging for Tinubu attention. If he fights them, then he can be trusted. Nothing to celebrate yet. Only time shall tell.

All I could remember was this photographer cum local politician in my neighborhood that was distributing OBESERE RICE (foreign rice) as it was very scarce then to few selected people, the jingles on radio prior to election, MKO MKO ACTION, ABIOLA ABIOLA PROGRESS. The aftermath suffering when we were looking for sawdust and diesel (cheaper than kerosene) for cooking. Series of protests. Prayer points by pastors on MKO that our lives shouldn't be like his who died in process of fighting to reclaim MANDATE etc

The problem with we nigerians is that we have short memories. These politicians (obi and tinubu inclusive) are the same. They don't like us. They are less concerned about the masses. They know how to dribble/manage us. Look at ASUU problem that has been lingering for years. If you are not careful and enter into silly agreement with them, you enter into their trap and it will be difficult to get of/out the hook.

The truth is that common man like us can't benefit from the subsidy they are removing. They know how to corner the money back to their circle and put us into suffering. You as a person, if you claim or think you are close to the government, you can only benefit a little. Let us always look beyond tribalism and face reality.

A parent like me working with private firm know what I am facing. How many private firms have started paying the #30,000 minimum wage?
