Actress Dorothy Njemanze shared this story last week on her Facebook wall. Read below I was busy with school runs in Gwagwalada when I got a frantic call reporting the attempted rape of a first year University of Abuja(UniAbuja) student by another first year student of Biological Sciences called Monday. By the time I got there, the Chief Security Officer was just beginning to interview both parties, starting from the boy, Monday. He told of how he made his 'intentions' known to her and she said she would 'think about it' but he according to him, he didn't understand why shy couldn't give a straight answer, so he began making moves at 'romancing' her and feigns ignorance of her claims that from the moment he started, she told him to stop. He claims he only noticed her seriousness 'when he crossed the boundary'. He is upset that he had sent her 400 naira recharge card before and doesn't get why she will reject him. The young lady insists she came by at all because he said he was not well. By the time she got in, he was playing loud music, so from the moment he began trying to have sex, she was shouting but the loud music drowned her voice. She insists he pinned her to the mattress and she tried strangling him with his necklace till it cut. After that, she reached for the laptop as a weapon and ripping it out turned off all the music then he released her because she could now be heard. She ran out and called for help. She got help and retrieved her phone and slippers and purse. Then she began reporting to their mutual friends and people she trusts. She insisted she injured him to. On demand, he took off his shirt and everyone saw injuries she gave him and more. I got upset that the attitude towards gathering evidence is zero. There seemed to be a majority notion that as long as there was eventually no penetration, it is not so grievous a crime. All I insisted was to document all that could be seen as evidence before any statements are taken etc. I applaud the lady for speaking up. We need ensure the students and security men understand sexual harassment in its entirety and be sure whatever responses are in place take into cognizance victim needs. I was very agitated when it seemed people were upset that 'she was trying to make a lot out of something very small. More people need to understand what sexual violence is and legal provisions for victims and offenders. More details tomorrow. These pictures were finally taken at the crime scene. More shocking experiences tomorrow morning. Many are trying to use victim blaming and shaming to force her to drop the case. Please, let us change the narrative and share this widely to punish the perpetrator, not the victim. ...Ambassador Dorothy Njemanze http://www.wapbullet.com/photos-uniabuja-undergraduate-allegedly-attempts-to-rape-female-student-over-n400-recharge-card-gift/

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said 30 political parties had submitted names of their candidates for the Nov. 26 governorship election in Ondo state. The commission’s Deputy Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Nick Dazang, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen. Dazang said that all the parties met the Thursday deadline for the submission of names of the candidate as specified by the Electoral Act. He said that the names of the candidates could not be announced until the date specified by the Electoral Act, as they were still subject to change. “As at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 30 political parties have submitted the list of their candidates for the Ondo governorship election. “The parties can also substitute these names between now and Oct. 27, that is one month to the election when we will published the final list. “At that point when we published the list, they cannot withdraw or substitute any longer,’’ he explained. Dazang also told newsmen that the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction submitted names of candidates for the election. He said that the commission was yet to decide on which of the two candidates, Mr Eyitayo Jegede or Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, that was acceptable to it. Jegede emerged from the primary election organized National Caretaker Committee, while Ibrahim is the candidate of the Sheriff-led faction. http://www.wapbullet.com/ondo-2016-30-political-parties-present-candidates/ cc: Mynd44, OAM4J |

– The United States has dismissed a suit by Godson Nnaka asking for $550 million of the Abacha loot – The US-based Nigerian lawyer had argued that he was entitled to the share of the money after the Nigerian government had recruited him to get the money – The court ruled that the lawyer was not entitled to the money has his temporary letter was not renewed The US is set to repatriate over $550 million of stolen funds during the regime of late General Sani Abacha after a case instigated by a Nigerian lawyer was dismissed. Vanguard reports that a US-based Nigerian lawyer, Godson Nnaka, had requested for $320 million from the Abacha loot from Nigeria. Justice John D. Bates of the U.S District Court had dismissed Nnaka’s claim and insisted that he was not a party to the forfeiture case filed by the US Department of Justice in conjunction with Nigeria. The office of the Attorney General of the Federation had filed an opposition to Nnaka’s motion for the payment and asked the court to bar him from filling similar cases. Justice Bates said that Nnaka did not meet the basic prerequisites to be considered as a proper party in the case and to be paid the amount he requested for as he was not qualified to represent Nigeria. The judge also ruled out Nnaka for the payment since he had not won any judgment for Nigeria. “Neither Nnaka nor his purported clients are parties to the forfeiture matter and neither of them can win judgment through this litigation. “The conclusion dooms Nnaka’s motion for charging lien. At common law, the charging of lien is applicable to a judgment or decree obtained for a client by an attorney. Until a judgment or decree has been obtained, the right to impose a lien does not arise. “Even the most basic prerequisites for charging lien are missing here: Nnaka has not won a judgment for Nigeria; indeed, he had not successfully entered appearance on Nigeria’s behalf. A charging lien in the amount of $320 million is not called for. Nnaka’s claim against Nigeria must be pursued in another case: 16cv-1400. “Unless and until Nnaka’s claim to the defendant’s assets are reinstated by the DC Circuit, Nnaka’s participation in this case must now come to an end,” the U.S judge ruled, paving the way for Nigeria to draw down its huge cash. Abubakar Malami who is the minister of justice was in the US for the judgement said Nnaka was merely trying to delay the return of the Abacha loot by the U.S by making a claim that Nigeria must pay him 40 percent of the loot. The minister noted that although Nnaka was recruited by Mr. Olujimi, the former attorney general in 2004, he had not recovered anything. He said Nigeria will not pay Nnaka the $320 million he is asking for since he is not qualified to practise law in the Maryland area where the case is taking place. The court also ruled that the lawyer could not claim to be representing Nigeria as the temporary letter given to him by Olujimi was not revalidated by Mohammed Adoke during the Goodluck Jonathan administration when the forfeiture case resumed in 2013. Malami said that the case filed by Nnaka had delayed the return of the Abacha loot but the recent judgement dismissing the case should make things move faster. “We trust that this Order denying Nnaka’s frivolous claim to the Abacha assets, will help to allay the fear of the Nigerian general public arising from an online medium’s article which stated that Nigeria stands to lose $320 million on account of Nnaka’s Motion. “We also hope that this Order will help to correct the many falsehoods and half-truths published in the past against the Office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation regarding this matter. “This is a positive development for Nigeria.” Source: http://www.wapbullet.com/us-to-return-abacha-loot-dismisses-case-filed-by-nnaka/ cc: Mynd44, OAM4J 1 Like |

Members of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries have yet again taken a different approach to spreading the word of God to members of the public. In a recent outing, the members of the church whose location could not be ascertained as at press time were spotted on an awareness mission somersaulting on the road. The attention-grabbing stunts have become a controversial topic as many people have openly questioned the morale behind the various stunts. It would be recalled that about three weeks ago and early 2016 the church faced serious criticism after its members were caught rolling in a dirty water all in the name of ‘praising God.’ Many have regarded the latest stunt by the church members as crazy and unwarranted, asking if this is really what the mission of spreading the gospel entails. See the photos below as shared on social media: Source: http://www.wapbullet.com/lords-chosen-members-perform-stunts-to-preach/ cc: OAM4J
