Dual Core:
Certificates in a field like this are needed by those who dunno jack and need some quick "proof" to get a job.

In this field, your works certify you.

Mo ti gbo!!!

Except if its CIW. You'll do a lot of good mentioning the certificate. Besides i dont rily see why a web designer needs to have a certificate in the field to be proficient.
WebmastersRe: Web Design Assistance Needed by damine: 9:38am On Apr 19, 2010
I read through this thread as well as other similar threads on this section of the forum and i wonder when people request for advice/assistance in learning programming/web design & development, why are people always eager to discredit the 'school option'. People are quick to say- learn on you own or I have ebooks to give u, Call me for one-on-one lectures, NIIT/APTECH will just take ur money and give u rubbish.

I think thats a wrong approach to take and we're not necessarily helping these newbies out. Rather we want to flex our muscles and oil our egos because we taught ourselves programming by reading & coding and learnt things the harder way. In my opinion, i believe such replies to enquiries only leaves the people who asked more confused.

Rather i think we should be objective in our analysis. True, NIIT/APTECH are not doing justice to the provision of this service. But are they the only ones out there? NO! Not everyone will learn programming by teaching his/her self. And the fact that i taught myself programming doesnt necessarily give me an edge over someone who learnt it from an instructor in a school/institute. One of the programmers i admire the most started his journey while on a trip to india. And the guy is rily good. Enrolling in an institute wont give you ALL you need to know about programming (infact nobody can know everything). But it gives you a good foundation. It introduces the fundamentals to you and points the path for you to acquire advanced knowledge.

This is my take on this issue.

Regards.

A Lagos based IT firm is seeking a student with knowledge/experience in web design and development (Microsoft ASP.NET technology).

Essentially we seek a student who has this knowledge with or without hands-on experience but is willing to take on projects and work from his/her location while filing periodical progress reports and of course deliver results within agreed timeframes.

Send your cv & contacts to info@intuitivecomputersng.com.

Cheers.

I was hoping the engineers in the house would find this topic very interesting CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control programmers, it is the essential programming of robots to perform a specific task to precision. It is used in the industralized nations in production of autos, computers and all other industries that deals with production. etc. The demand for CNC programmers is very high all over the world and the money is highly rewarding ranging from $35 an hour as an entry level with working experience in robotics. Think about any machine it can be programmed to perform a task on its own, using a computer. Lets take for example ATM machines, they require CNC to allow the ATM perform tasks even when no one is at the bank. it is programmed and loaded during working hrs. I have the concept of CNC and i m planing on building one to test runing in Nigeria industries. Even a sewing machine can be programmed to sew with out supervision using the concept of CNC. A car can be programmed to run wit out supervision using the concept of CNC.
Currently in Naija, we're more of a consumer economy rather than manufacturing and the few manufacturing companies we have are not really into automated/controlled processes. Its still more of manual.
