I don't know what choice you all will pick and what decision you all will take, but going back to that poverty life of mine is not going to work for me anymore. I called her exactly 8:20 and told her my decision.

5 years down the line, and I am leaving a wonderful life, I am married with two kids and I also drive the best of cars money can buy. Whatever decision I took has gotten me all this and more, less I forget I built my landlord a nice house with the best of designs, he will be back from France this weekend.

Now your turn what would you do?

In other for my village people not to delay me I was out of the house by 6am, I sat in a canteen not far away from the place with just a plate of 150 rice and meat with free water. By 10:30am I walked to the building, it was an uncompleted one so I waited for her at the entrance, just as the time strucked 11:00am 2 black Range Rovers parked in my front and she stepped down smiling. She was glowing from head to toe, from her pink lace iro and buba to her well tied and styled gele and all just preached class and wealth. We walked into the building and spoke for awhile before she finally stated her intentions.

I want your Glory she said, and if you are willing to give it to me you will never ever have to work any job or search for help before you feed yourself. Whatever you will need for the rest of your life will be giving to you by me, from money, to houses, cars, to you taking holidays abroad and enjoying yourself. All these I will give you only if you agree to give it willingly. I was shocked cause that morning I had read a tweet about sugar mummy's where someone had said what if she uses your Glory and the person replied something that I am not even using.

I was dumbfounded instantly, I had worked really had to secure a job and a life and it wasn't fruitful now someone was willing to have what she thinks I have that I am not seeing for the life I want. I asked if I could go home and think about and she said Yes and also gave me 100,000 in cash for even hearing her out, She told me to call her 8:20pm of anyday when I have made a decision and let her know.

No interview, nothing nothing, 15 hours wasted just standing for no just reason only to submit my CV and leave what a life I said as I walked towards the gate, when a security whispered to me " e be like say you know person, why you con dey under sun since I just ignored him as I went home hoping to beat the regularly heavy traffic before the time I was giving.
I got home around to 8 and was heavily tired, I was about dozing off since dinner wasn't sure when I remembered the woman I had met earlier. I quickly rushed to pick the paper she gave me and dialed the number patiently waiting for the time to struck 8:20 before I hit the green button.
Her was voice was cool and she gave me some instruction after I introduced myself, she had asked me to meet her at an address by 11am, it was an area I knew very well so getting there won't be a problem except for money and trekking wasn't a good option either.
I had walked to the landlord's flat smiling, I knew his family never liked me except for him so I told him I wanted talk as he walked me outside the compound. I explained that I was going for an interview the next day and I had no money on me, He just smiled and dipped his hands into his pocket giving me 500 naira which was more than what will take me to the place. Manage it my son he had said like he always do, and don't forget me when you are big I completed it for him smiling. I had thanked him and left.

He kept singing this same line over and over again and people started shouting and complaining about those who went in. Some even got angry and turned back but I was not going to back down, either I got something or my hunger strike 101 resumes again.
By 1pm half of the remaining crowd had left out of anger while we the hopeful goats remained, no more names calling just us waiting for a miracle to happen when it was past two the remaining of us were just 10, that was when a man came out and asked us to come under a canopy and sit, thank God a lady shouted
stage 1 cleared but after that the man disappeared and never returned until 3pm. Sorry for keeping you all waiting he said, we would split you all into a group of 3, 3 will have their interview today and then 4 tomorrow and 3 next tomorrow. He called out the first 3 names which I fell on before splitting others.

The first person was called in and in a matter of minutes He was out and then the next, She took a little longer before showing up and I was ursehed in next, that's when I noticed a silver purse was on the floor on the route to where a woman and what seems to be her driver had walked pass. The silver purse had foreign currencies flashing out of it with something like a small crystal ball ( which i later found out to be diamond) Flashing at me. I quickly ran after her but was barricaded by the man with her and then I stretched forth my hands and said Ma I think you had dropped this purse.

She quickly checked for something before signalling to her driver to allow me pass, Thank you she said with a smile but I quickly turned back so I won't miss my interview, Excuse me she said.
Ma I replied, Let me find you something for this. Don't worry Ma it's nothing, if I don't rush back now I will miss my interview, Oh she said, give me just a second and then her driver walked away from us as she got a pen and a book, she wrote something and then tore it and handed it to me. When you are done there and you are not happy with the result call me by 8:20PM, not earlier or later than that as she smiled and thankes me.

I quickly dashed inside the building but I got stopped immediatley by a lady who called out my name and asked where i was since after they had called me severely but as God would show mercy, a security man who I guess saw me talking to the woman quickly intervened and said he was talking to Mrs Baker. Then the lady smiled and asked me to drop my CV which she tagged along with about a few others, You can go now sir she said still smiling and please stay glued to your phone your attention could be requested for any time from next Monday she said.

I have never really woken up as early as I did for an interview in my life, or should I say I never even slept. 2am and i was up, picked up the water I had fetched the night before as I walked to the bathroom at the backyard. By 3am I was on the road jumping from bus to bus to get to the island. The interview letter I had clearly stated "No Nigerian time 7am sharp, a minute late and that was it".

By 5:30 I was around the office premises greeting everyone as they arrived. I was number 1 on the list, thank God I exclaimed but the Nigerian magic started happening as soon as the gate opened and people were called in, I kept waiting to hear my name but it didn't come. The officer at the gate was singing a funny song as he saw many of us waiting patiently to be called,
" Na person wey sabi person dey make am "

Its painful to watch your whole world crumble before you, last night a nurse had placed a hand on my shoulder as she told me you will be fine. But how does fine work because all I can remember are my last moment with my family and the death that took them. Every night here I cry myself to sleep because no one knows how it really feels to lose everything, my whole world.

I hear my family calling me everytime but I have decided to answer them i have already sneaked into lab, one time I heard a Male doctor talk about a drug he seized from a depressed patient he had attended to (suicide pill) that the man wanted to kill himself. I had watched him keep it and quietly taken it behind his back. I have swallowed all right now and I can hear my family voices loud and clear, I can hear jane shouting daddy and Jasmine giggling while Jayden is been rubbed on the head by their mother, this I can see clearly. By the time the nurses get to this point of reading this I will be long gone. don't worry I promise I won't cry anymore like I have been doing all night, I am even smiling right now as you read this.

I just want to be with the people I love the most, this world is not welcoming again, Thank you nurse BRIDGET for wishing me well, I am well now. My breathing is becoming slow I have no intentions of alerting the nurses I will just rest my head on the arm of my wheelchair and just sleep. I promise you will see me smiling when you all get to me.

Forgot to tell you my name sorry. Call me crumbled wor...............

"About 9hours later"

My head ached badly I could barely move my body, even tho my eyes were still shut I could only hear the noise of the siren, I was trying to even lift my body from the thick liquid on the floor or even try and open my eyes, but as soon as I tried I fell again and that was it.

******************************************************************************

"2Years later"

I have been in this place for a long time, I heard a nurse telling a lady that I have been there for the past two years and I have never said a word, well only if they could read my mind. I basically didn't know what happened to Mabel and Jane but based on the pictures of myself I saw after the incident happened I could tell they were dead. Jayden had died because he lost too much blood same as Jasmine, they never told me anything but I had seen a news paper that reported them dead.

He instructed one of his members to come closer to him as he pulled down his pant, he told the other guy to do the same. He told me to look him straight in the eyes as he ordered that my wife and daughter should come towards them, my tears never stopped dropping, he asked another gang member to pull Jane and placed a gun in her mouth. He told my wife and daughter if they failed to do as told that the guy should blow up her mouth, he asked them to perform MouthAction. I was forced between watching in tears or sacrificing another child, I could only cry as the action went on. I had failed the very people I had promised to protect with my own life, I couldn't even table the life before them.
Mabel and Jasmine shed tears as they did what he wanted. While I knelt as my body was cold I couldn't build up the strength to watch anymore, as urine dropped out of my pants.
I looked at Jane's eyes and Jasmine too and but I couldn't only apologize with my teary eyes and shaking lips, the choice of gambling or replacing them with myself wasn't even placed on the table for me.

When they were satisfied, they asked them to UnCloth and that was the moment for Jasmine she couldn't hold it any longer as she went for the pistol the leader dropped on the table, I couldn't comprehend where she got the strength from but she was fast enough to shoot the leader in the head as he fell flat immediately I tried to jump like I see in the movies when people dive to take a bullet for others, but it was too later as the bullet were faster than my speed, they hit Jasmine really hard much more than I could handle, I couldn't stand it anymore as I tried to pick up the pistol she had used but it was to late, I couldn't tell if they shot Jane or not as something really heavy knocked me out as I fell flat.

When the two who went with my wife got back they made a sign to the leader that they got it, then he looked at her and told her he had to punish her for lying to him. I was scared cause I could not watch my wife die in my presence, he told her to UnCloth that he was going to sleep with her while we all watched I begged him immediately like me, my son felt the way I was feeling he stood up too with teary eyes as we both begged for my wife. He then asked me and Jasmine to stand up, told us to UnCloth and sleep with each other since i didn't want it to happen to my wife.

I begged him with my teary eyes not to do that, Jasmine fell on her knees and begged, I even offered to give them the fifty thousand I had in my bag but I guess it fell on deaf ears. He walked towards the center table, picked up the flower vase and smashed it on my son's head. Blood oozed out as he fell on the floor. I was surprised that my youngest daughter kept mute during this time despite her eyes been red. Tears rolled down my face as I watched my son bleed. The gang leader looked at me and said "If I ever talk or refuse to do as told someone else will pay for it". I started praying silently in my head that he should not come up with anything crazy again but his next move shocked me.

I kissed my wife on the cheeks as I led her into the room for our own private romantic conversation before we sleep, she laid her head on my chest as we fell sleep. I guess I had slept for a little while before I started feeling something like a direct light on my face despite it been closed like someone was pointing a heavy touch in my eyes.
I tried to open them but the light became more brighter, I tried to block the reflection of the light on my eyes, I heard someone make the shhhhhhhh sound followed by if you two make any attempt to shout I will blow your brains off, just quietly stand up and move to the sitting room.

We followed the instructions, I had watched so many robbery scenes In movies but I actually never imagined it could happen to me. As soon as I got to the sitting room I saw my children already on their knees with each one having a gun pointed to their heads. They basically didn't hide their faces and that worried me a lot, were they hired assassins or just normal robbers cause I know I basically made a rule for us not to have large amount of cash at home no matter what. But I was shocked when one of them asked my wife where the 10million dollars packed in 100$ bills she brought home was I quickly glanced at my wife who instantly denied it, but I guess the leader weren't buying it as he gave her a quick dirty slap that made her stumble, I was angry and pitiful for her despite our conditions at the moment, that my wife could hide such thing from me after we had our normal work chit chat made me sad, it was painful to see another man slap my wife in my presence and not being able to do anything. She quickly changed her answer as she said it was inside the kitchen in one of the cabinet, they quickly dragged her up as two of them went with her to the kitchen while one had a gun placed at the back of my head. I was able to calculate their number immediately they were 7 armed men including the leader.

I had been married to the Love of my life for about 14 years now, we had 3 beautiful kids two girls and a boy, Jasmine 13, Jayden 7 and Jane 5. My wife Mabel worked as an accountant at the federal reserve while I worked as an Insurer.
Our marriage was a blissful one, we barely fought and anytime we had little misunderstanding I was quick enough to go down on my knees and most times she would just kiss my bad mood away. We always created time for the kids so they don't miss out of the fun. We lived in a Flat in one the 2 story building estates built by the former military administration in the state. We live in a area where PHCN has failed terribly so most people depended on generator to keep away the heat over night.

But that faithful day, I had returned from work late due to the heavy traffic, that night the story was the same, the sound of generator took over the whole street as I drove into the compound. The kids were already out to welcome me as they shouted daddy daddy. Fast forward to about 3hours later, I had a little play time with the kids before chasing them off to bed playful so I could be with their mother. We had our normal chit chat about how our day went, funny moment at the office and all. I had basically walked back to check the locks of the door and also made sure every window was closed . while my wife went to check if the kids were already sleeping cause the Gen would last us till the next morning.

Barrister OJO continued; My Lord, I put to you that the evidence brought forward by barrister OBI and his witness Mr Taju are baseless and should be rendered null and void by this honorable court. Haaaa!!!!the people exclaimed, this is getting interesting I thought to myself. That's all for now My Lordship, barrister OJO said, returning to his seat.
I tried to study barrister OBI's expression to see if he was angry or sad at his witness but he wasn't showing any sign of it. He stoodp up again, not looking defeated but rather confident like he had more coming for the Devil.
My lord, he said; I will like to present to you witness number two, a six man gang of armed robbers who have been screaming and crying that it is the work of the Devil that led them to it. So they are here to testify against him.
You may proceed the judge said, I could feel the tension in the air, I was wondering how all this was going to turn out. I knew barrister OBI wasn’t going to back down in the face of defeat and he was ready to beat barrister OJO to this case, he looked stolid. Barrister OBI started off in a very unusual manner, he first said a quick line out the bible (The Lord is my strength) after the gang all took their oat.
What made you all to start robbing people off their money and belongings, he asked the robbers. One of them immediately broke into tears as he explained himself, saying it was the Devil that led me to it. Everyone gave the pity sound to show how they felt when he mentioned the Devil. He continued; I was a good boy, very obedient, dutiful and respectful. I loved the people dearly and would always go to Church every Sunday with my family . Everything changed when the devil caused my parents and siblings to be involved in a ghastly motor accident that caused them their lives and rendered my an orphan at an early age. This affected my life as it crumbled my dreams and aspirations for life. I had just completed my SSCE exams and was awaiting my result. I couldn't feed nor fend for myself, my family was my only source of livelihood but the devil snatched them away from me. Feeding became very difficult and I started to feed from hand to mouth. When the Devil noticed I was between a rock and a hard place, he came visiting and deceived me. How? barrister OBI asked; the Devil came to me as a friend he replied. Can you please explain further to this honorable court, barrister OBI urged him on. Just like it was recorded in the book of Genesis, the Devil came to Eve in the form of a serpent and deceived her, so did he come to me but this type in a human form and ruined my soul he replied.

The clerk rose and announced "may all rise before the judge" and then came in the most feared judge in the country she had no bad records. Even the toughest politicians couldn't bribe her and yet they still couldn't kill her, JUDGE BRIDGET WILLIAMS, one of the most seasoned and respectable judge in the country. It is recorded that times without number, she has been offered top political appointments but she refused them all. It is still a wonder why she never accepted any of the political appointments, but many reporters attribute it to the fact that she likes to lead a simple and strict lifestyle. Immediately I saw her, I knew the case was going to be a free and fair one; she is that reliable.

The case was announced by the clerk
"case No. 17PTD The people vs The Devil". BARRISTER OBI was the first to rise, he introduced himself as the prosecuting attorney and also introduced his co-prosecuting attorney, BARRISTER AFOLABI. BARRISTER OJO also rose and introduced himself as the Defense attorney and also introduced his co-defense attorney BARRISTER ROBERTS.

Barrister OBI rose again as he began to state the people’s’ complaints. He argued that the Devil is a soul deceiver that deceived people into committing sin and then causing evil to befall the. He was accused of using the people’s weakness against them and the cause of every misfortune in the world today. He was accused of making people lie against one another, steal and kill one another.
He was also accused for making one list after each other and encouraging fornication especially among the youth and adultery among married couples. He was also accused of luring men with money and build hate within their hearts against one another. He was branded no good and undeserving to live among the people.

Barrister OJO immediately stood up and objected to the accusation. The judge sustained , it was unexpected because the people were really happy with the claims Barrister OBI was reading against the Devil and soon started murmuring as the defense attorney spoke. The court became so rowdy that the court clerk had to call the court to order. Barrister OJO argued that the prosecuting counsel lacked basic evidence to attack his client which such accusation and therefore his claims were null and void.
The court became noisy immediately and this started upsetting the Judge, because the people wouldn’t become quiet even after the court clerk tried to restore order to the court. The judge threatened to adjourn the case if peace wasn’t restored to her courtroom immediately or she proceeds with the case in an empty room. We are all matured people let us all be warned, Prosecuting counsel, you may proceed. Barrister OBI continued and asked if he could call on his first witness, which the judge agreed to and he called Mr Taju to the witness stand. He introduced his first witness as a coco farmer who had lost everything he had to "The Devil". Mr Taju was asked to place his right hand on the Bible to take an oat of telling the truth while in the witness stand, and as he recited the words, my mind pondered on the credibility of the oat taking, I wondered if some thunder was going to magically strike whoever told a lie or these things were just done to psychological compel the witnesses to tell the truth. I jolted out of my subconsciousness as Barrister OBI walked towards Mr Taju and asked him to describe to the court his financial status before his encounter with The Devil. Mr Taju recounted how he was a very wealthy man and how he lost everything to the Devil. The Devil took everything he said, I was rich enough to feed a whole community for 40years without skipping a meal. Everyone marvelled, a woman beside me said this Devil is really wicked. How he was asked, a mysterious fire engulfed and destroyed my refinery which was the start of many misfortune that befall me, he answered. Barrister OBI further asked him if he had further backing to his claims and he replied stating that the holy book in First Peter Chapter 5:8 backs him up on this. There was no time for me to quickly bring out my phone to check but I know it talked about
"The Devil prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour"
Then I heard Objection my lord, someone behind me shouted not again but it was sustained by the judge.
That's all for now my Lord, Barrister OBI said as he approached his seat.
Barrister OJO stood up immediately and asked Mr Taju if he was a believer or not, he answered him that he was a devoted Christian, so you know lying is a sin he asked, Mr Taju nodded in agreement. So was the Devil ever employed by you, or ever worked in your refinery? he asked;
before today, have you ever had form of contact with the Devil? Mr Taju replied that he has never been in contact with the Devil nor had he employed or had the Devil work in his refinery.
So why accuse a man you don't know?Barrister OJO asked with a smirk on his face. He walked up to the address the people in the court; This man here has no proof for his claims against my client except for the Holy books, isn’t this ridiculous? Everyone was shocked at the brilliance in the question he asked and at that point, I knew this was not going to be an easy case. I looked up to see if I could read any expression on the face of the judge to give me an inclination on how the case was going, but she kept an expressionless stare with a hand under her chin and her glasses resting comfortably on the bridge of her nose. I was beginning to get apprehensive on behalf of the people because without substantial proof, the judge will rule on favor of the Devil.
Objection my lord, the defense counsel is leading the witness.
Objection overruled, you may proceed defense counsel the judge said, interrupting Barrister OBI, to the dismay of the people.
I smiled to myself maybe because I finally saw Judge Bridget WILLIAMS in action for the first time or maybe because I wanted the Plaintiffs to bring forth strong compelling proofs and witnesses against the Devil if they hope to win this case.
I asked myself, who was I in support of the Devil or the People? I thought deeply and I realized I just wanted a fair hearing.

I was in court for the biggest case ever recorded in history, The people vs The Devil. Everyone has basically addressed "The Devil" as one of the biggest cause of mayhem and here he was in court to defend himself with his attorney BARRISTER FESTUS OBI (SAN) and BARRISTER AYO AFOLABI (SAN). The people also hired some of the best team in the country to fight for them BARRISTER Emmanuel OJO (SAN) and BARRISTER SAMUEL ROBERTS (SAN).

I woke up early as 3am so I could get to the court premises as early as possible, It was the battle of the Titans. I needed to be at the gate early in order to gain access into the court room because everyone in the city was going to be attendance. I got to the gate as early as 5am and I was surprised at the crowd already formed in front of the court house, everyone wanted to witness the sentence of the devil. As soon as the court house opened around 10am, I had to go through the eye of a needle to gain access into the courtroom through the large crowd of people, to see the face of the man who has tormented most of us all our lives the man behind every downfall. I found myself a comfortable spot in the middle roll and watched as others struggled to get a seat in the front and back roll. 15minute later, Devil was dragged into court and lead to the dock and immediately everybody started shouting and ranting out vile words towards him; it was very obvious Devil has greatly wronged the people. I looked to my right and saw a young woman crying as spoke some words I could not comprehend, to my left, a man was standing and point accusing fingers at the devil and beside him, a woman was wailing and holding her child who looked very pale. I looked at the faces of everyone in the courtroom and also judging from their outburst, they all had a thing or two against "The Devil" .
