U don't really need work experience since you have identify your career path to go 4 Msc. Try & convert your BSc dissertation to paper & publish it in a good journal with guidance from your supervisor. Also, look for internship maybe 3-6months in sustainability & ESG. if you can learn a bit of data analysis/presentation skills, you should be fine with all these skills to get MSc or probably PhD admission.

Thastie:
I have googled UK immigrants nairaland buying cars and read it all.

But I have a question regarding copart uk; is it good to buy cars from there? Someone wants to help me buy one but I am not sure if that’s a good one.
Kindly help. Thank y’all

There is no issues if he knows about various categories of car damages in UK as well explain to you to know the insurance implications. Also, most cars at copart requires fixing which depends on whether body work or mechanical.

Thanks for the insightful and helpful information @NotsonewMary. You have given alot of us the confidence to go all out & get the job done. Your degree in Epid. is hotcake now that pandemic is just in our backyard unlike before & every government is taking public health more seriously. I wish you success in the remaining process & will be eagerly waiting to congratulate you on your GC soon. Hopefully, you will accept my Pm if assistance is needed on the application.

NotsonewMary:

Honestly, there’s no 1 cap fits all or specific pattern to this thing.
One of the first people that boosted my confidence with applying was back in 2020 when a friend I met told me she got approved back in 2019 while she was still on her regular OPT post graduation from her master’s program, she had zero publications or citations, she had only included one of the unpublished papers she had written as part of her coursework while doing her master’s program.

I also do not have any publications or citations. I do not have a PhD degree as well, though I have two advanced degrees ( A medical degree and A masters degree).

In my opinion, one of the most important factors remain your proposed endeavor, what is the strength of your work? Can you find relevant articles to support how important this is to the United States? Can you find important statistics to show the trend of things in that field?

In my case, my proposed endeavor and current work is in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, I looked for important government articles and other articles by key organizations (CDC, Harvard, John Hopkins etc) to support and show the national and economic importance /substantial merit of my work.

Also, you have to go all out when writing about how you are well positioned to carry out your proposed endeavor. This is your opportunity to “sell yourself”, DO IT WELL!

“The second prong shifts the focus from the proposed endeavor to the foreign national. To determine whether he or she is well-positioned to advance the proposed endeavor, officers consider factors including, but not limited to: the individual's education, skills, knowledge, and record of success in related or similar efforts; a model or plan for future activities; any progress towards achieving the proposed endeavor; and the interest of potential customers, users, investors, or other relevant entities or persons.

The above is quoted from the USCIS policy manual for EB2NIW. Read this manual thoroughly, it will guide you!
https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-6-part-f-chapter-5

Letters of recommendation from experts in your field are also strongly encouraged!

Overall, you know your situation better than anyone else. If you believe having your PhD degree will boost your application and give your application more strength, then by all means wait for it!

I hope this long write up is helpful smiley

Thanks Chibertha for sharing your experience and information. I will definitely get in touch with you for help regarding the application when I decided on what to do. We both belong to the same Civil Engineering family although I'm more into low-carbon construction materials and cement chemistry now but really enjoy all civil specializations.

From my interactions with successful applicants you can do it during or after your chances are still high because of your masters.

NotsonewMary:
Welcome to the thread @uchetobi

Happy to share that my I-140 (EB2-NIW) was approved this week! ( such a great Christmas gift lol).

I filed I-140 and I-485 concurrently 5 months back. I completed the whole process myself with help and guidance from a few other friends. I did not employ the services of a lawyer (personal preference though).

I have shared resources and links that were helpful for me on previous pages of this thread.

Goodluck to everyone on this journey, may the odds be in our favor.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions ( as much as is within my knowledge) right here on the thread.

No PM’s please!

Congrats @ NotsonewMary. From your experience & interaction with successful applicants, what's your advice for someone on PhD? Whether to apply during the study or wait after completion not considering publications & citations status.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Co-founders Needed For A Start-up (A tech bro/sis) by damoche64: 3:11am On Dec 22, 2022
Hi Treadway, I just shoot an email to you.

Thanks

Thanks for expressing interest. I hope you have those very specific skillset I detailed earlier, because from all indications what I am about to talk about only stands a chance of success moreso with a well-rounded team involved than an individual. Even the last email screenshot I attached, shows that a slide should be dedicated to TEAM. So I'm looking to connect with people with those skillset that will help make a successful and formidable team.

So again, if you are a professional in the realm of agile projects (tech bro with Experience or Good knowledge of VR tech), please let's talk. If you are a tip-top finance professional with experience in start-ups, please let's talk. If you are a growth hacker, pls let's talk. Tohan505 maflow coretechng1 MbaanabaraAgu Dreamword24 Sarang Kanmipeju damoche64 horllar1990 bryanbella

Shoot me an email on dynadotdeb@gmail.com with your LinkedIn profile, or a CV (you may remove your home address)

Some back story...I came up with an idea that is VR-based and I have been pitching to some angel investors and venture capital firms in Japan, China, and Canada. I have not bothered to use incubators as those ones are all about the money they wanna get to onboard you to their incubator programs. There is thread of someone that tried incubators for Canada Start-up Up Visa program here https://www.nairaland.com/6980903/canada-start-up-visa

I on the other hand, am looking for business investors for a global idea that can be the next big thing, and not solely for japa, and definitely not to shell out 40-100kCAD for incubator programs. The knowledge, connections and experience of the investors should be enough of a guiding/onboarding experience for the business in whichever ecosystem. I have been gaining significant traction with Keiretsu, Canada, for now (look them up).
I have now gotten to a point where there needs to be a skilled team to bring this to life and to get investor confidence, and to have a shot. Keiretsu is a designated body for the Canada start-up program so they need to agree to part fund the start-up up to a certain amount, which comes with a Start-Up Visa for up to five co-founders.

What this means is all that is required at this time is not money but your willingness to key into this vision, so it can take flight, be it in Canada, Japan, China, USA. It has to be genuine. We would be a team pursuing a common goal, which is to make this project the next global phenom.

So, if this excites you and you fit the profile, let's talk please. Shoot me an email asap. I will review and reach out ASAP to properly brief chosen partners on the nitty gritty of the project. Thank you.

Note: This may not be exclusive to Keiretsu or Canada, as I have explained earlier, but this post/thread right now is within the context of discussions with Keiretsu.

See some screenshots below to put things in perspective. Unfortunately, time is of the utmost essence.[/quote]

Congratulations @DocND. Ur profile is gonna serve as motivation for me as I'm planning submitting my thesis this year although just 1journal article & few conferences published from it 4 now. My initial plan was to finish PhD & apply through DIY following guidance from online resources.

How much did Ellis Porter charged for their fee?

DocND:
Thank you!
I'm in the Environmental field (BSc Industrial Chemistry, MSc Energy & Env Mgt, PhD Environmental Science-Chemistry).
I got my PhD this year and funny enough, I have not published anything from it yet, so I used one publication from my MSc where I was second author and that had about 17 citations or so. Thankfully, I was able to get recommendation letters from some of the people who cited my work. I think the key is to have a very strong petition that satisfies the three prongs and one should be good. My I-140 took 8months+ and no PD yet because I haven't submitted application for I-485.
The one thing I will say is for folks to start as early as possible. I initially thought that I have to finish my PhD before starting the process and nope. I know/have heard of people who started and got approved for everything even before finishing their studies.

Why an average Nigerians are not civilised?
This is a public forum & anybody is free to advice the poster & u don't need to attack a faceless person. He decides whether any advice is good 4 him or not. If you have failed as a UK depotee or anywhere, you don't need to attack anyone, just drop your advice & move on. Travelling & living abroad requires alot of planning & consultation with right people if u wanna stand up quickly. The poster is hardworking for getting his employer increase his salary especially in UAE. If he continues that tenacity, he'll surely get it right in any country he moved 2 but his concern is uncertainty with visa renewal in UAE & he want a better life 4 his family.
Nigeriaiscasted:

Pls reject this advice. Don’t listen to this person that doesn’t have international passport

Continue saving and saving. Just work for now suspend all plans and just be working normal normal as you have been doing. When the end of your contract reaches come to nairaland and ask again. By then you would have saved up to 4-5 million if not more in addition to what you have. UK na expenses and God help you if you no get sponsor. Citizenship can wait citizenship no day run away
