Foreign Affairs › There Is No Sign Of The Decline Of Hamas' Military Power - New York Times by Dandal(op): 7:46am On Dec 28, 2023 |
Israel has vowed time and again to eliminate the group responsible for the brutal Oct. 7 attack, but critics increasingly see that goal as unrealistic or even impossible
Standing before a gray backdrop decorated with Hamas logos and emblems of a gunman that commemorate the bloody Oct. 7 attack on Israel, Osama Hamdan, the organization’s representative in Lebanon, professed no concern about his Palestinian faction being dislodged from Gaza.
“We are not worried about the future of the Gaza Strip,” he recently told a crowded news conference in his offices in Beirut’s southern suburbs. “The decision maker is the Palestinian people alone.”
Mr. Hamdan thus dismissed one of Israel’s key objectives since the beginning of its assault on Gaza: to dismantle the Islamist political and military organization that was behind the massacre of about 1,200 people, according to Israeli officials, and which still holds more than 100 hostages.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has repeatedly emphasized that objective even while facing mounting international pressure to scale back military operations. The Biden administration has dispatched senior envoys to Israel to push for a new phase of the war focused on more targeted operations rather than sweeping destruction.
And critics both within Israel and outside have questioned whether resolving to destroy such a deeply entrenched organization was ever realistic. One former Israeli national security adviser called the plan “vague.”
“I think that we have reached a moment when the Israeli authorities will have to define more clearly what their final objective is,” President Emmanuel Macron of France said this month. “The total destruction of Hamas? Does anybody think that’s possible? If it’s that, the war will last 10 years.”
Since it first emerged in 1987, Hamas has survived repeated attempts to eliminate its leadership. The organization’s very structure was designed to absorb such contingencies, according to political and military specialists. In addition, Israel’s devastating tactics in the Gaza war threaten to radicalize a broader segment of the population, inspiring new recruits.
Analysts see the most optimal outcome for Israel probably consisting of degrading Hamas’s military capabilities to prevent the group from repeating such a devastating attack. But even that limited goal is considered a formidable slog.
Hamas is rooted in the ideology that Israeli control over what it regards as Palestinians lands must be opposed by force, a tenet likely to endure, experts said.
“As long as that context is there, you will be dealing with some form of Hamas,” said Tahani Mustafa, senior Palestine analyst at the International Crisis Group think tank. “To assume that you can simply uproot an organization like that is fantasy.”
The Israeli military said this week that it had killed about 8,000 Hamas fighters out of a force estimated at 25,000 to 40,000. But it is unclear how the count is being made. About 500 have surrendered, according to the military, though Hamas has denied that all were from its ranks.
The military has at times delivered positive progress reports on its objectives, describing as “imminent” full control over the areas in northern Gaza where it began its ground offensive in late October.
But Mr. Netanyahu acknowledged on Sunday that the war “is exacting a very heavy cost from us” as the military announced that 15 soldiers had been killed in the previous 48 hours alone. Rockets are still being fired almost daily from southern Gaza into Israel, albeit far fewer than before.
Michael Milshtein, a former senior intelligence officer for Israel, criticized statements by some Israeli leaders depicting Hamas as being at its breaking point, saying that might create false expectations about the length of the war.
“They’ve been saying this for a while, that Hamas is collapsing,” Mr. Milshtein said. “But it’s just not true. Every day, we’re facing tough battles.”
The group’s top echelon are believed to be sheltering, along with most of its fighters and the remaining hostages, in deep tunnels. Although the Israeli army has said that it demolished at least 1,500 shafts, experts consider the underground infrastructure is largely intact.
The tunnels, built over 15 years, are believed to be so extensive, estimated at hundreds of miles long, that Israelis call them the Gaza Metro.
“Hamas is actually weathering this assault quite well,” said Tareq Baconi, an author who wrote a book about the group. “It’s still showing that it has an offensive military capability.”
Giora Eiland, a retired major general and former head of Israel’s National Security Council, said Hamas had demonstrated the ability to quickly replace commanders who are killed with others equally capable and equally devoted.
“From a professional point of view, I must give credit to their resilience,” he said. “I cannot see any signs of collapse of the military abilities of Hamas nor in their political strength to continue to lead Gaza.”
The scale of Israel’s war is likely to radicalize a new generation: More than 20,000 Gazans have been reported killed thus far, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

PoliteActivist: *Politeness* Ermm, there was no Israel till after WW2 Errmm, I believe the topic is about Zionists?? FYI, the Zionists Ideology has existed for centuries. Theodore Herzl is known as the founder of the World's First Zionist Movement. And he formed the World's 1st Zionist congress in 1897, in Switzerland. In which he created a plan in pursuit for a refuge home for Jews due to the Incessant pogroms and persecution Jews were being subjected to in Europe. By 1903, the plan was widely accepted and during the 6th Zionist Congress of 1903, Herzl presented the Uganda Scheme, endorsed by Colonial Secretary Joseph Chamberlain on behalf of the British government. The proposal, which sought to create a refuge for the Jews in British East Africa following the Kishinev pogrom in Present day Moldova. Herzl died of a heart ailment in 1904 at the age of 44 before his wish was granted. Later, his successors rejected the Uganda Scheme, and proposed Madagascar instead as refuge for the Jews. The Madagascar Scheme was soon rejected im favor of Palestine after the British conquered Palestine during WW1 from the Ottoman Turks. The British being influenced by the reknowned Jewish Rothschild Banking family, granted the Zionists their wish to settle in the land of Palestine. Israel is just a product of the Zionist Ideology, and todays Israel could have been in Uganda, Madagascar or anywhere the Zionist Movement deemed fit to call their 'homeland'. Thanks to Theodore Herzl untimely demise, to say that the people of Uganda and Madagascar dodged the bullet, would be an understatement. |
Foreign Affairs › Palestinian Resistance Defies Odds, Inflicts Heavy Casualties On IDF In Gaza by Dandal(op): 6:40am On Dec 25, 2023 |
The Palestinian resistance has continued their fierce confrontation with the Israeli occupation for the 79th consecutive day. The ongoing clashes, which took place in various areas of the northern Gaza Strip, coincided with relentless air raids on the region. As the battle intensifies, the resistance has successfully thwarted multiple Zionist attempts to advance into strategic locations.
The Palestinian resistance faced off against the occupation forces on the axes of Khan Yunis in a series of intense clashes. Simultaneously, the Israeli occupants launched heavy artillery shelling in an attempt to gain ground in Jabalia al-Balad. However, their efforts were met with fierce resistance from Palestinian fighters, forcing them to retreat.
In a major blow to the Israeli occupation forces, it has been confirmed that 13 of their soldiers have been killed amidst the series of battles. The spokesperson for the Israeli army revealed on Sunday morning that eight soldiers were killed during the clashes in the southern and central Gaza Strip. Additionally, five more soldiers were pronounced dead the previous evening, bringing the death toll to 13 within a span of just 12 hours.
According to the enemy’s confession, an anti-armor missile managed to penetrate a military mechanism equipped with a missile interception system, instantly killing four soldiers and leaving two seriously injured. In a separate incident, an explosive device detonated within a building in central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of two occupation soldiers and the injury of ten others, including three in critical condition.
Another explosive device exploded near a military vehicle, claiming the lives of two Israeli soldiers and severely injuring a third.
Even the enemy’s media outlets have acknowledged the tenacity and resilience of the Palestinian resistance. The Israeli newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, noted that Hamas has been displaying remarkable patience on the ground and improving their fighting tactics, leading to the escalating number of casualties within the Israeli occupation army. Reports from various combat zones in Gaza highlight the use of snipers against Israeli occupation soldiers, exposing vulnerabilities in the Israeli occupation forces.
“Hamas is meticulously identifying the weaknesses of the Israeli army in Gaza and launching targeted attacks based on this information,” the newspaper stated, emphasizing the strategic precision adopted by the Palestinian resistance.
As the Palestinian resistance continues to confront the Zionist enemy head-on, their resilience and determination have proven to be formidable. Despite facing enormous challenges, they remain resolute in their quest for justice and freedom.

obedience4: Another kid,,you are a poor student of history Go read about the last TIME the IDF had a serious war in Lebanon, And your manifest lack of class is surpassed only by your ignorance of global military and political realities. The 2006 IDF war in Lebanon, dubbed the "birth pangs of a new Middle East" war by then US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, was initially perceived as an opportunity for Israel to destroy Hezbollah and re-occupy South Lebanon. Their intention and actions towards South Lebanon were no different from what they are now doing in Gaza. While Hezbollah attacked IDF military targets, the IDF invaded Lebanon and started massacring civilians and destroying civilian infrastructures in Lebanon. The IDF rejected a ceasefire in the early weeks of the war as it was initially enjoying the collective punishment it was unleashing on Lebanese civilians. However, Israel and the US underestimated Hezbollah's missile arsenal and its capacity to also hit civilians targets and destroy civilians infrastructures inside Israel . As the conflict unfolded, the lost of Israeli lives and infrastructures became too much to bear, leading Israel to push US to ask for a ceasefire at the UN. In the final two weeks before the ceasefire, Hezbollah launched an average of 900 missiles daily into Israel. The Iron Dome defense system became Domiciled, forcing majority of Israeli civilians to live in bomb shelters. Israeli ports and Airports were put out of action. Hezbollah almost sunk Sa'ar 5, the most powerful Warship in the Israeli navy. The Merkava Tank, known as the pride of the Israeli Army virtually became Iron coffins inside Lebanon. Instead of it protecting infantry soldiers, IDF infantry soldiers found themselves shielding the Merkava Tanks from Hezbollah's relentless barrage of Kornet Anti-tank missiles...such is the short summary of the "last TIME the IDF had a serious war in Lebanon"; a war lasting 33-days in which IDF faced a humiliating strategic defeat. If it weren't for this defeat, Israel could have invaded Lebanon by now, and there wouldn't be a need for Uncle Sam to deploy a US Carrier Strike group to the Mediterranean to protect Israel from Hezbollah. The invasion of Lebanon by the IDF in 2006 was triggered by the loss of 3 IDF soldiers. Presently, Hezbollah daily attacks has claimed the lives of at least 50 IDF soldiers and forced around 70,000 Israeli settlers to evacuate Northern Israel. Hezbollah launches an average of 5 missile attacks daily into Israel striking military targets with a pin point accuracy; yet Israel refrains from escalation. The reason behind this restraint is the warning from Uncle Sam, cautioning Israel that any escalation by IDF with Hezbollah would pose an existential threat to the settler colony of Israel. With its battled hardened experience from the Syrian war, currently Hezbollah possesses the capability not only to defeat IDF in Lebanon, but also to invade and occupy Northern Israel. And the US govt lacks the political will to sacrifice thousands of American soldiers lives to rescue the IDF from a catastrophic defeat . |

The Israeli occupation is hardly looking for a military achievement to announce in Gaza on the 77th day of the brutal aggression on the besieged enclave.
The Israeli occupation army has been boasting with resounding statements by claiming to “destroy Hamas leaders tunnel network in Gaza city,” and “turning Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s home to dust.”
Such statements have been aimed at raising the morale of the Israeli army’s whose Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion withdrew from Gaza after suffering significant losses.
Israeli Toll
The Israeli occupation army announced on Friday the death of two Israeli soldiers, taking the death toll of Israeli troops since the start of the ground offensive in Gaza to 139 and the total number of troops killed since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood to 470.
Meanwhile, the occupation army said that 23 soldiers have been injured in the ground battles in the last 24 hours, taking the number of wounded troops since the start of the ground offensive to more than 600 including 179 seriously injured and 302 others in moderate condition. On the other hand, according to figures offered by Beirut-based Union Center for Research and Development (known as U-Feed), 720 Israeli vehicles and tanks have been destroyed or damaged during the ground battles in Gaza.
Fierce Clashes
Meanwhile on Friday, fierce clashes were reported in Jabalia in northern Gaza Strip, indicating that the occupation army hasn’t been able yet to control the northern region of the strip as the Israeli media has been propagating.
Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad resistance group announced that its fighters managed to down an Israeli drone over Gaza on Friday. It added that the resistance fighters fired heavy mortar shells on gatherings of Israeli occupation troops stationed in Al-Qurm roundabout in northern Gaza Strip.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq says it has stricken a target in the city of Umm Rashrash, also known as Eilat, in the southern part of Occupied Palestine in retaliation for Israel’s genocidal war in the besieged Gaza Strip.
“The fighters of Islamic Resistance in Iraq targeted a target in the occupied Umm Rashrash (Eilat) using the appropriate weapons,” the movement said in a statement on Friday. The attack comes “in support of our people in Gaza and in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity against the civilian Palestinians.”
However, Israeli media reports claimed that Jordan foiled a drone attack launched by the Iraqi resistance forces on Umm Rashrash, as it intercepted the aircraft in its airspace.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime’s decades-long violence against Palestinians.
Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed over 20,000 Palestinians and injured more than 52,600 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble in Gaza, which is under “complete siege” by Israel.
Meanwhile, anti-US sentiments are also running high across the region over Washington’s firm support for the Israeli onslaught against Palestinians in the besieged strip.
The Iraqi resistance forces have also targeted major US military bases in Syria and Iraq, where forces and trainers are stationed, warning the United States against funding and supporting Israeli war crimes against the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Since the onset of the war on October 7, the United States has backed Israel’s ferocious attacks on Palestinian territory as a means of “self-defense.” The United States, Israel’s biggest ally, has provided the regime with more arms and ammunition since then.
Washington has also vetoed United Nations Security Council resolutions that called on the occupying regime to cease its aggression.

In support of the Palestinian people and resistance in Gaza and in light of the Israeli aggression on the various South Lebanon villages, the Islamic Resistance fired on Thursday missile barrages at several Zionist settlements and inflicted losses upon them.
The military media of the Islamic Resistance issued consecutive statements to explain the details and outcomes of the rocketry strikes.
The first statement maintained that the Islamic Resistance fighters conducted a rocket strike on the settlement of Kiryat Shmona (the occupied town of Al-Khalsa) with a barrage of Katyusha rockets at 12:15 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2023. The third statement affirmed that the fighters of the Islamic Resistance targeted at 11:15 on Thursday, 21-12-2023, the settlements of Doviv and Avivim (the occupied Lebanese village of Salha) with appropriate weapons, causing confirmed injuries.
According to the fourth statement, the Islamic Resistance fighters targeted at 12:15 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2023, several gathering points of “Israeli” occupation forces in the occupied Lebanese territories of Shebaa Farms using rocket and artillery weapons, causing direct injuries.

According to the seventh statement, Hezbollah fighters struck on Thursday at 15:30 Ramim barracks and a gathering of Zionist soldiers in its vicinity, inflicting direct hits.
The eighth statement underlined that the Islamic Resistance fired rockets at the two Zionist settlement of Metulla and Ramot Naftali and hit a number of buildings in response to the Zionist aggression on the various towns in South Lebanon.
Israeli Channel 12 indicated that a building in the settlement of Ramot Naftali in the Upper Galilee was damaged after being hit by a guided missile launched from Lebanon.

Australia and Spain have rejected the US coalitions request that they send war ships to the Red Sea to protect trade for Israel.
Instead, Australia will send 11 military personnel to support a U.S.-led mission to protect cargo shipping in the Red Sea, but it won’t send a warship or plane, the defense minister said Thursday. Defense Minister Richard Marles said that Australia’s military needs to keep focused on the Pacific region.
The United States announced this week that several nations are creating a force to protect commercial shipping from attacks by drones and ballistic missiles fired from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

In another development, Spain’s Defense Ministry on Tuesday denied Washington’s claims that it will participate in a multinational force to patrol the Red Sea.
In a statement released to Spanish media outlets including the ABC and La Vanguardia, the ministry said Spain cannot make the decision unilaterally, and is subject to decisions made by the EU and NATO.
The situation is confusing in Spain and the leader of the opposition, Alberto Nunez Feijoo, criticized Premier Pedro Sanchez for committing Spanish troops to an international military operation without informing the parliament. Neither Sanchez nor Spain’s defense minister have issued an official statement on Operation Prosperity Guardian.
The Yemeni rebel group has ramped up attacks in recent days, targeting ships alleged to have links with Israel.

Health › Doctors Report Startling Rise In Testicular Injuries Among Woman Athletes by Dandal(op): 11:59pm On Dec 06, 2023 |
NEW YORK, NY — A new study indicates a disturbing trend as testicular injuries in women's sports are increasing at an astounding rate. Researchers are baffled as these statistics have skyrocketed from literally zero reported testicular injuries among female athletes just a few years ago.
"This new wave of testicular injuries to female athletes has really come out of nowhere," said Dr. Ryan Kitchen of Boston College's Institute of Sports Medicine. "Years ago, there were absolutely no reported testicular injuries that occurred during women's sporting events. If only we could determine what led to this sudden rise. Such a puzzle!"
Institutions around the world have also noticed the disturbing trend and are pouring research dollars into discovering the cause, which is almost certainly a complicated issue with no easy or obvious answers whatsoever.
Critics have argued that it's not actually possible for a female athlete to suffer a testicular injury. "Yeah, that can't happen," said Dr. Adam Kinunen of the Restore Sanity to Sports research group. "Considering the fact that having testicles in the first place means a person is not a female, it would stand to reason that such an injury is impossible. In layman's terms, these are dudes."
Trans activist groups have come out in full force against anyone who dares to suggest women cannot have their testicles injured because women can't have testicles. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" said Sunshine Fluffsprinkle, spokesperson for Insanity Now, a trans rights group in response to the findings. "BLLRRRAAAWWRRRR FFFRRGGGTHTHTH!"
At publishing time, concerned researchers in the field of sports medicine were consulting with athletic equipment manufacturers to design protective athletic cups specifically designed to protect female testicles.

Sports › Doctors Report Startling Rise In Testicular Injuries Among Woman Athletes by Dandal(op): 11:53pm On Dec 06, 2023 |
