Exactly 3years on the day we snapped this picture, we sat in front of this same water and he told me he was going to marry me some day with so much confidence that I laughed because we were just meeting for the first time (in my mind I was like this guy d find who to scam, him no know say marriage no too d my "to do" list at the moment)
However, I liked the conversation with him, it was witty, fun and relaxing, no expectations, unnecessary tensions or pretense, no faking, it was natural just like the water we were admiring.
When he asked if I would be able to keep a relationship, I told him I won't mess up if he didn't.
I sincerely couldn't see beyond that moment at the time, but here we are, meaning non of us messed up😁😁 in between sha was a lot of fights(especially in the beginning, I'll break up with him on a chat and he will continue chatting like he didn't see the message) adjustment, fun, and with the years a growth in love and admiration for the man I met and the man that is becoming(I wasn't really easy to date, after being single for 3years, I was too independent, and hardly soft, but I tried my best to compensate for that while I adjust by constantly keeping in touch, if you are close to me, you know I'm not much of a caller, but I tried to call just to water down the seemingly masculine nature that I must have built within the years)
It was easy to be myself around him, it was easy to come out of my shell, it was easy to watch the wall I had built crumble all around me, and it was fun being me, being comfortable in my own skin, and have the feeling of being adored just the way I was, am, and striving to be.
Our story is a highly flawed one, filled with a testament of growth, learning, unlearning, and the best part, a desire to be the best we can be for ourselves and for each other.
It's exactly 2weeks to the realization of that fateful day in 2021, and my heart swells with love and excitement for the man that made me realize that relationship didn't have to be stressful, or hard work. I pray our marriage will even be more beautiful
