Politics / Fayose Led Thugs To Beat Judges, CJ Tells NJC by Danmas: 2:32pm On Oct 01, 2014
Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, has tabled before the National Judicial Council ahead of the council’s meeting scheduled for Thursday, a petition accusing the state’s Governor-elect, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, and the police of complicity in the attack on judges and court workers in the state last week.
A copy of the September 26, 2014 petition addressed to the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police of which was also attached to a covering letter sent to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mukhtar, as the Chairman of the NJC.
The covering letter sent to the Chief Judge was learnt to have been dated September 29.
Justice Daramola, in his petition to both the NJC and the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, accused Fayose of leading a large number of thugs, who disrupted court proceedings, beat up judges and court workers and also tore court records.
He also accused the policemen and other law enforcement agents deployed within and outside the court premises of “looking on completely uninterested and unconcerned” while the attacks by the thugs on the court workers and users lasted.
The Chief Judge justified the closure of the courts in the state after the mayhem, an action which he said was to avert “looming danger within the premises of the High Court of Ekiti State” after the police officers “posted to guard and protect the integrity of the court and its personnel have failed us and left us at the mercy of political hoodlums”.
It was also learnt on Tuesday that Fayose had through, his lawyers, sent a separate petition to the NJC, alleging that the Justices of the Governorship Election Tribunal, sitting in Ado-Ekiti High Court headquarters had received bribe.
Fayose alleged that the panel members had been bribed by Governor Kayode Fayemi and the All Progressives Congress to rule against him on September 25, when the court proceedings were disrupted by thugs allegedly loyal to him.
But the Chief Judge, in the petitions both entitled, ‘Ekiti State Judiciary under siege of political thugs,’ chronicled the invasion of the court premises in Ado-Ekiti, by thugs between September 22 and September 24.
The petition read in part, “Now on Thursday, the 25th day of September, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the governor-elect, again led thousands of people and thugs into the premises of the High Court beating and maiming members of staff.
“The thugs invaded my court where I was to deliver a judgment in a land matter, tore the record books, beat court officials and vandalized the furniture in Court No. 1.
“The political thugs descended on Hon. Justice J. A Adeyeye, the presiding judge in Court No. 3 beat and dragged him on the ground. The judge’s suit was also torn into shreds. I could not gain entrance into the premises of the court and had to hurriedly turn back on being alerted that I was the prime target of the hooligans.”
Justice Daramola said the attack on the court on September 25 was preceded by a similar siege on the court premises on September 22, when thugs allegedly loyal to Fayose disrupted court proceedings apparently to avert the delivery of a ruling which they suspected could go against the governor-elect.
The plaintiffs in the suit are challenging Fayose’s eligibility to contest the governorship election.
The CJ said he was at the Supreme Court in Abuja attending the special court session marking the commencement of the new legal year and the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria on some lawyers when the violence first broke out on Monday, September 22.
A copy of the petition reads in part, “On Monday 22nd day of September, while I was attending the Supreme Court Special sitting in Abuja, I was called on phone that thugs loyal to Mr. Ayodele Fayose have invaded the headquarters of the judiciary of Ekiti State where Hon. Justice I.O Ogunyemi was deliver a ruling on the matter instituted against him.
“The thugs beat workers black and blue while the presiding judge and lawyers had to run for their lives. They smashed windows and furniture. Meanwhile, the policemen deployed within and without the premises in large number were looking on completely uninterested and unconcerned while these thugs were on prowl beating and maiming workers and court users.
“The thugs went on searching for the judge who ran into hiding. It took your (the Commissioner of Police) personal intervention when you were duly informed on phone to rush to the scene of the mayhem within the court premises to rescue the said judge and took him out into safety.”
According to him, from the events which followed that of September 22, it appears that the whole episode of violence was pre-planned.
Politics / Boko Haram Is Funded Outside Nigeria, Jonathan Tells UN by Danmas: 7:55pm On Sep 26, 2014
Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday told the United Nations that Boko Haram insurgents are being funded from outside the country and called for international support to countries on the frontline of terrorism war.
The President, who challenged the international community to “act now,” and put a stop to the global menace of terrorism said the deadly sect has killed 13,000 Nigerians in the country’s North-east zone in the past five years.
Mr. Jonathan said these at a high level meeting of the United Nations Security Council in New York, United States of America, on Wednesday.
“Nigeria knows too well the destructive effects of terrorist activities. Over the past five years, we have been, and are still confronting threats posed by Boko Haram to peace and stability predominantly in the North Eastern part of our country,” Mr. Jonathan said.
“The costs are high: over 13,000 people have been killed, whole communities razed, and hundreds of persons kidnapped, the most prominent being the mindless kidnap of our innocent daughters from Chibok Secondary School, in North East Nigeria.”
While appreciating the UN’s leadership for convening the meeting to address global terrorism concerns, he said the resolution adopted by member states was a critical step in mobilizing international action against terrorism.
Despite the daunting challenge posed by Boko Haram, he said his government has doggedly mobilised resources at its disposal to ensure that the scourge is rooted out of Nigeria.
In addition to our counterterrorism efforts, he noted that the administration has evolved initiatives to alleviate the plight of the population in the affected communities.
He listed some of such efforts to include the Presidential Initiative for the North East, Victims Support Fund as well as the Safe Schools Initiative, which is supported by former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
Continuing, Mr. Jonathan said, “We must now capitalize on the commitment and evident determination of the Security Council to seek more innovative responses to the threat of terrorism and in particular to the growing menace of foreign fighters,” Mr. Jonathan said..
“The council should be concerned about the existence of sources of arming and funding terrorists. Evidence has shown that Boko Haram, for instance, is resourced largely from outside our country.
“We must also commit to ensuring that countries which are in the frontline of this challenge, receive adequate support from the international community.
“The Resolution that we have adopted here today is a critical first step in mobilising international action,” said the Nigeria’s President.
Mr. Jonathan said Nigerians and the world are horrified at the gruesome murder of two American journalists and a British aid worker by elements linked to Islamic State, ISIS.
He noted that the murders typified the new face of global terrorism marked by executions, extreme brutality and impunity.
He listed Al Qaeda in the Arab Maghreb, Al Shabaab in Somalia, and Boko Haram in North Eastern Nigeria as some of the groups that share the agenda of unleashing terror, mayhem, destruction and instability around the world.
The Nigerian President noted that bands of foreign fighters have added a troubling dimension to the emerging phase of global terrorism.
From targeted attacks by Al Qaeda a few years ago, Mr. Jonathan said the world now witness thousands of mobile terrorists sweeping across vast areas, destroying lives, and even attempting to hold territory.
He, however, thanked the American President, Barrack Obama, and the US Government for the security governance initiative which was conceived at the US-Africa Summit in August.
“I believe, if expeditiously implemented, the initiative will enhance security on the continent,” Mr. Jonathan said.
“Only by united action and firm resolve can we check this raging threat to humanity, and also build the enduring structures that will resist their re-emergence.”

Religion / FG not doing enough to prevent anarchy -Catholic bishops by Danmas: 10:02pm On Sep 19, 2014
The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has said the Federal Government has not done enough to stop the rising insecurity and the unending killings in the country.
The Bishops, which issued a statement during their Second Annual Plenary in Warri, Delta State, said the meeting has daily been inundated with “first-hand and horrifying reports reaching from Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Kano and Kaduna states about the mass slaughter of fellow Nigerians; the burning and sacking of whole villages and churches and rectories.”
In the statement titled ‘While Nigeria bleeds and burns’, the CBCN lamented the precarious situation in the North-East, where it lamented that reports “only confirm further killings, burnings and fleeing of defenseless Nigerians creating a heightened sense of unrest and siege to the whole nation.”
Signed by the President, CBCN, Most Revd Ignatius Kaigama, and Secretary, Most Revd William Avenya, the conference called on the all tiers of government to do more than they were doing to preserve unity of the nation.
CBCN said, “In the face of this Boko Haram group and other criminal militias arming themselves beyond our legitimate government and brazenly killing innocent, defenseless citizens, our government must do more than it is currently doing to safeguard our lives and defend our nation.
“It must do more than it is currently doing to fight off and disarm these actual destroyers of Nigerians and Nigeria. It must do more than it is currently doing to prevent segments of our nation from drifting, anarchy and mutual self-destruction and bring criminals to justice.”
The Bishops warned that what should be uppermost in the programme of government should not be the fight for positions in the 2015 elections but how to guarantee the lives of Nigerians.
The clerics added, “We warn every Nigerian community at local and state levels to be alert to the grave danger facing all of us and our nation from within and from without.
“The issue is not about who becomes president or governor or senator after the 2015 general elections. The issue is about the life and security of every one of us who loves his or her life and really cares about our living together in peace as noble Nigerians.
“We urge therefore that we all support and encourage every positive effort by the current government to protect every Nigerian and defend the integrity and unity of Nigeria. Let us equally take lawful measures locally to prevent the destruction of fellow Nigerians and to ward off Nigeria’s destroyers.”

Politics / No Vacancy In Aso Rock In 2015 -ministers by Danmas: 6:44pm On Sep 16, 2014
September 16, 2014by Olusola Fabiyi and Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

For the fist time, members of the Federal Executive Council have said there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2015.
They said the position of the President would still be occupied by their boss, President Goodluck Jonathan.
Minister of Youth Developments, Mr. Boni Haruna, stated this in Abuja on Tuesday at the National Summit of the Goodluck Support Groups.
The former governor of Adamawa State spoke on behalf of other ministers.
He said, “There is peace in the country and there is no need to ask the man responsible for the peace to leave the scene.
“President Jonathan has done well and because of this, I and other ministers are saying there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2015.”
Meanwhile, various support groups have called on the Peoples Democratic Party to give Jonathan an automatic ticket to run in the 2015 presidential election.
The groups, under the aegis of Goodluck Support Groups, stated this in a communiqué they delivered to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, at the end of their National Summit in Abuja.
The communiqué was read and delivered to Anyim on behalf of the group by the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufa’I Alkali, who is also the National Coordinator of the group.
Alkali said between 7,000 and 8,000 groups, with about eight million members nationwide, had signed the communiqué, callingon Jonathan to declare his second term ambition and the PDP to nominate him as its presidential candidate in the 2015 poll.
Te communiqué, he said, read, “We the leaders, patrons and sponsors of over 7,000 non-governmental organisation and support groups that make up the Goodluck Support Group, after careful review of the performance of the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, and the current development conditions of our country, Nigeria, hereby resolve as follows:
“That President Goodluck Jonathan has performed very well.
“That it is in the interest of Nigeria and all Nigerians that his transformation agenda should continue beyond 2015.
“That President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan should step forward and contest for the 2015 presidential election.
“That the Peoples Democratic Party should nominate Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as its candidate for the 2015 presidential election.
“That as leaders and representatives of the over 7,0000, 8,000 organisations with over eight million membership nationwide, do hereby affirm our loyalty and unqualified support for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and undertake to deliver him overwhelmingly at the polls in 2015.”

Politics / Re: Boko Haram Sponsorship: Obasanjo Connived With Davies To Embarrass GEJ – Do by Danmas: 6:34pm On Sep 16, 2014
Also, reacting on the involvement of former Governor of Borno State, Sen. Ali Sheriff, the Niger-Delta Activist said that as a muslim, it was possible that Sheriff may have had an encounter with some members of the group in the beginning and later opted out when it became obvious that their activities were weird.
He tongue-lashed the All Progressive Congress, APC, for making the alleged involvement of Sheriff a priority, saying that their interest on crucifying him was prompted by his exit from APC.
“For Modu Sherrif, it is very simply. If he was had a relationship with the group at the beginning, it was possible. Somebody can be affiliated to a group. I was the President of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC. But now I am no longer a member because I am more than the constitutionally prescribed age to be a member of IYC. If it takes a decision today, is it binding on me?
“Yes, in an Islamic Group, you can pray together with people. You can like their preaching, purity of Islam. They said they are Salafins. They want to purify, restore Islam to its pristine condition and everybody will be attracted to it. But when they start to do certain action that becomes contradictory to one’s belief, he is free to say I can’t associate with you any longer. He can move on.
“When did APC realize it? They have been hyping it. He was chairman, BoT of APC until about 3 months ago. All along they didn’t realize he was a Boko Haram sponsor. If he didn’t go back to the PDP, he would still have remained a non-sponsor of Boko Haram”, He posited.

Politics / Boko Haram Sponsorship: Obasanjo Connived With Davies To Embarrass GEJ – Do by Danmas: 6:30pm On Sep 16, 2014
By Levinus Nwabughiogu
ABUJA – In what could apparently be considered a daring move, leader of Niger-Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Alhaji Dokubo-Asari yesterday exploded, saying that former President Olusegun Obasanjo connived with Boko Haram peace Negotiator, Mr. Stephen Davies to name Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika and Senator Ali Sheriff as sponsors of the deadly sect to embarrass President Goodluck Jonathan.
Asari who recalled his personal relationship with the Australian negotiator stated that it was so “shameful” that Davies could compromise his revered position as a principled man to score some “cheap” points.
Dokubo-Asari
Speaking to Vanguard in Abuja, Asari who was also the former President of Ijaw Youth Council,IYC, said it was laughable that the immediate past Chief of Army Staff,Gen. Ihejirika, who was accused of genocide by some northern elements would be named a sponsor of Boko Haram.
He said: “I know Stephen Davies. I meet him in 2004 when he came to my camp with Van Kemedy and told us that he had the mandate of the European Union, the British Government, the Church of England and Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo to negotiate with us to come out of our camps and meet with the government.
“I was sceptical but after all there ought to be peace. So, I gave it a chance until Timi Alaibe and others also came. We negotiated and we came out. I was brought to Abuja with some of our men and we met with Obasanjo. Thereafter, we had a very robust relationship: His daughters, other family members, friends. He was very good to me but he was Obasanjo’s friend.
“Lately when I started reading about a Federal government negotiator and Steve Davies name popped up, I was wandering. Steve Davies, a christain with Boko Haram? How possible? Until he came out with his report and I found out that the report made nonsense of all the respect and high regards I have for him. This is the man who says that opposition was sponsoring Boko Haram. That was the main theme of the report; that President Goodluck Jonathan was not acting to bring these opposition elements who are sponsoring Boko Haram.
“But all of a sudden, he made a complete somersault. He never named any member of the opposition. The first person he called was Gen. Ihejirika. This is laughable. It is common sensical to ask: was he “high” or something when he said because any right thinking person, if it is not that so many of these people are made and sick in Nigeria who parade themselves as intellectuals with all prefixes and suffixes behind their names, it is so appalling. When did Ihejirika start sponsoring Boko Haram? Was it in 2002 when the group made an Ijira to Yobe, when they had confrontation with members of the Nigerian Police or was it in 2009 when the leader of the group, Mohammed Yusuf was extra-judicially murdered on the orders of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, which they said Ali Modu Sheriff was misdirected the government for him to be killed?
“What if Stephen Davies had named the President as a sponsor, what would have happened? So, innocent people should just be sacrificed? No. It is not right. The President should be able to discern when this is political.
“Steven Davies is Obasajo’s friend. Obasanjo’s agenda is to kick out Jonathan from Aso Rock. Obasanjo masterminded it. I am 100% sure. Steven Davies is Obasanjo’s friend. Obasanjo brought him to Nigeria. Obasanjo would have told him there is somebody in Central Bank who is sponsoring Boko Haram. Steven Davies did not name that but it was easy to name Ihejirika and Sheriff. When did Ihejirika start sponsoring Boko Haram? Was it at time that Ihejirika who was nobody, who was in the Engineering Corps of the Nigerian Army was sponsoring Boko Haram? For what purpose? Who gave him the money to sponsor Boko Haram? Or was it when he became Chief of Army Staff when some northern elites have been campaigning going to ICC, calling for trial of this man for committing genocide? And Shehu Sani and El-rufia who have been at the top? When did Ihejirika transmute? It is terrible.
“I am so disappointed. I will not deny that I know him, he was good to me. But I think this is the worst period of his life. Whatever had happened for him to compromise his position so brazenly, it will end his career in big disgrace.
“Why was it easy to name Sheriff and Ihejirika but was difficult to name the man at CBN? Steve Davies should be ashamed of himself that he would be so cheaply used by Obasanjo and thinks that he can score a point. I am so ashamed of him. Their agenda is to continue to embarrass Jonathan with their friends in the international scene.”
Politics / Re: Report Link Ex-governor And Chad President To Boko Haram. by Danmas: 11:01am On Sep 13, 2014
Nigeria's defence intelligence was silent on the role of Mr. Ihejirika in promoting the deadly sect whose bloody campaign have killed up to 5000 Nigerians and left many homeless, broken and internally displaced, but names the Chadian president, Mr. Deby, as a new dimension to the Boko Haram sponsorship dynamics.
In 2011, a strong Boko Haram army was also beneficial to the Chadian president, as it provided a "ready army and possible refuge" for a president that was facing growing distrust from his legitimate army, Nigerian intelligence officials claimed.
The Chadian government support for the sect was made majorly through his friendship with Mr. Sheriff and at the expense of his country's relationship with Nigeria, the report said.
Transformed sect
Violence by the Boko Haram sect, which had only religious interest in the past, is traceable to the five days of clashes in July 2009, between the group and members of the security forces in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Kano states that left more than 800 people dead, including at least 30 police officers.
The police summarily executed the captured Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Yusuf, along with several dozen of his followers in front of the police headquarters in Maiduguri. Dozens of its members were also arrested.
Boko Haram frequently said its attacks on the government, especially the police, are in revenge for these killings and an attempt to set free members incarcerated by the police.
Recently, the ideology behind Boko Haram attacks got more confusing with increasing attacks on schools, media houses and almost any soft target with wide media reach. The group has gotten bolder by the day and has shown interest in capturing and occupying cities it calls its Caliphates.
The sect has overrun towns and villages, including Mubi, Michika, Bazza, Gulak, Gwoza, Bama, Gamboru and Ngala in Adamawa and Borno states. Ngala is the home place Mr. Sheriff.

Politics / Report Link Ex-governor And Chad President To Boko Haram. by Danmas: 10:58am On Sep 13, 2014
New facts showing stronger links between former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff, and the Boko Haram sect have emerged, further fuelling suggestions the ex-governor is a major financier of the terrorist sect.
Intelligence insights obtained by PREMIUM TIMES in Maiduguri, Damaturu, and Abuja show dated communications between field officers and the velvet ranks of Nigeria's military chronicling Mr. Sheriff's involvement in promoting the growth of the sect.
The communications painted a picture of what appears to be a powerful regional support structure involving the Chadian president, Nigerian officials and Niger Republic, and spearheaded by Mr. Sheriff whom the intelligence presents as a powerful figure within this circle.
Strong evidence indicates that the Nigerian government received official actionable intelligence about Mr. Sheriff's links to Boko Haram as far back as 2011 but has, curiously, ignored all warnings and nudges to act to stop the Boko Haram call him in for interrogation.
Mr. Sheriff has long been suspected of masterminding the Boko Haram sect, but the documents sighted by this newspaper offers deeper understanding into how Mr. Sheriff allegedly finances the deadly sect and his probable motivations.
When Sheriff visits Abeche
Nourished by deep and impeccable sources from members of the Chadian Army, Nigerian intelligence experts had arrived at fairly certain conclusions that Mr. Sheriff was actively involved in the recruitment, training and deployment of Boko Haram members.
"... members of Boko Haram sect are sometimes kept in Abeche region in Chad and trained before being dispersed. This happens usually when Mr. Sheriff visits Abeche," a 2011 memo from field officers in N'djamena, the capital of Chad, read.
When Mr. Sheriff visits Abeche for these activities, he lodges in Chadian Presidential Guest House in Abeche, and is provided security by the Chadian government, the intelligence communications claim.
Mr. Sheriff is a close friend of the Chadian president, Idris Deby.
In 2011, during the Chadian presidential elections, Mr. Sheriff supported the Chadian president with 35 vehicles, for security, and is believed to have bankrolled Mr. Deby's re-election.
Nigerian defence and intelligence community members typically describe Mr. Sheriff as a gun runner in their many communications, and they often speak in conviction that his weapons find their way into Nigeria through Niger Republic into Yobe state. Yobe is Boko Haram's stronghold and has suffered heavy casualties in magnitudes only second to Borno.
Money, Politics and Power
Back in August 2011, intelligence officials were characterising Mr. Sheriff's motivations for sponsoring Boko Haram as similar to a certain "3rd generation South South governor," with the aim of covering up financial irregularities he might have committed as governor of Borno state, as well as propagate a stay-put in office strategy by suppressing the opposition.
The officials suggest that Mr. Sheriff did not create the sect but was actively using the "monster" and could be sponsoring the sect as a way of protecting himself from the sect members who were "calling for his head" at the time.
"One way of reclaiming the lost loyalty of the sect therefore, was sponsorship of their cause," intelligence officials were telling their principals.
Mr. Sheriff was not reachable for his comments. A former commissioner under his administration as governor of Borno state who also speaks for him, Inuwa Bwala, told PREMIUM TIMES Mr. Sheriff was outside the country and could not respond to enquiries.
Both the Nigerian defence headquarters and the Nigerian government also declined to comment on this intelligence. Phone calls were not answered, and text messages were not replied to.
Mr. Sheriff has been accused before of links to the terrorist group, Boko Haram. He denies any links.
An April 2, 2012 report by a Cameroonian daily, L'Oriel du Sahel, said the former governor, now a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was arrested in 2012 upon entering Cameroon from Chad on his way to meeting the governor of that country's northern region.
The report said Cameroonian police authorities questioned Mr. Sheriff for hours and only released him later following pressure from senior government officials in that country.
An Ambassador Usman Galtimari Panel, set up by President Goodluck Jonathan to investigate the genesis of the insurgency in the North East, had also blamed Mr. Sheriff for the growth of Boko Haram in a report.
Chadian President Connection
An Australian negotiator, Stephen Davis, recently named Mr. Sheriff, alongside former Nigerian Army Chief, Azubuike Ihejirika, as sponsors of the Boko Haram sect, quoting the sect's leadership.
Foreign Affairs / Modern Israel: Pioneers Of Terror In The Holy Land by Danmas: 9:20pm On Aug 12, 2014
I often hear the awfully misinformed and false claim: They have been
killing each other forever and they will just keep at it. The truth is
that, for 1400 years, Muslims ruled Palestine and the entire region, and
Muslims, Christians and Jews had lived in peace. Of course, there were
exceptions, such as when the European Crusaders, mowing down the
inhabitants of Ma`arrat al-Nu`man on the way1 , invaded Jerusalem and
killed every man, woman and child, and 10,000 people in the Al-Aqsa Mosque
alone.2 So, yes, there were massacres and ethnic cleansing but it was, as
should be to no one’s surprise, at the hands of an invading imperial Europe.
Bishop Riah Hanna Abu El-Assal, Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem from 1998 to
2007 said in an interview, “In the first place, Arab Palestinian Christians
and Arab Palestinian Muslims lived side by side for the past 1400 years.
For anybody to say that the Arab Palestinian Christians have been
persecuted recently by Muslims is absolutely another big lie, like the big
lie that spoke of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq.”
In another interview, he stated, “We were not party to persecuting the Jews
in modern-day times. They lived among us from 70 A.D. until recently. We
became enemies because some Western powers had a hidden agenda—the whole
question of oil in the Arab world. They allowed Israel to come. They
persecuted the Jews in Europe and made the Palestinians pay. ”
Not until Palestine was handed over to European Jews to create Israel after
World War I did the killing begin. Begin. Interesting word. Because one of
the first terrorist organizations in the Holy Land was the Irgun, a Jewish
organization targeting the British, both civilian and military. Founded in
1935, they were responsible for the King David Hotel bombing of 1946 that
killed 91 people and injured dozens.3 Irguns leader was a Jewish immigrant
from Russia by the name of Menakhem Volfovich Begin. He would later adopt
the more Hebrew sounding name Menachem Begin and become the 6th Prime
Minister of Israel. Another prominent member of Irgun was a man by the name
of Icchak Jeziernick. But Irgun proved too soft for him, so he joined the
even more militant Lehi, also called the “Stern Gang”. Under the Stern
Gang, he masterminded and conducted the 1944 assassination of British
Minister for Middle Eastern Affairs, Lord Moyne.4 Jeziernick, also a
Russian import, would later adopt the more Hebrew and less Slavic sounding
name of “Yitzhak Shamir” and follow Menachim Begin to become the 7th Prime
Minister of Israel.
After the 1935-39 Arab revolt against the British in Palestine, the British
disarmed the entire Palestinian population but, peculiarly, left the
Zionist militants armed to the hilt. As a result, the Palestinians suffered
violent pogroms and ethnic cleansing at the hands of Jewish extremists in
the Holy Land5 , but they still would not take up arms in any organized
fashion until 30 years later. The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO)
was founded in 1968. The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, often called
“Islamic Jihad” for short, was founded in 1979. Hamas was founded even
later in 1987.
Thane Rosenbaum, Law Professor at Fordham University, and Director of the
Forum on Law, Culture & Society, and unabashed Israel apologist stated in
his Wall Street Journal Op-Ed this despicable indictment of the entire
population of Gaza:
On some basic level, you forfeit your right to be called civilians when you
freely elect members of a terrorist organization as statesmen, invite them
to dinner with blood on their hands and allow them to set up shop in your
living room as their base of operations. At that point you begin to look a
lot more like conscripted soldiers than innocent civilians. And you have
wittingly made yourself [sic] targets.6
Really? Then what does that make Israel? Should we tell the Israelis “you
have wittingly made yourself (sic) targets” since 1977 because they elected
the biggest terrorists in the history of the region, twice in a row, as
their 6th and 7th Prime Ministers? A professor and an intellect such as
Thane Rosenbaum knows full well that what he is saying flies in the face of
well-documented history. But, at the expense of truth, his objective is to
indoctrinate the American people into perpetuating the flow of U.S. tax
dollars into what has become no less than genocide. It is to fund an
Israeli colonialism which, according to the father of modern Zionism,
Theodore Herzl, and according to many a Rabbi in Israel today, will have
it .
s borders reaching from Egypt in the West all the way to Iraq in the
East.7
This opportunistic feeding upon the generosity of the Western world and its
collective guilt over the Holocaust has created a nation of spoiled brats
who feel no shame in boasting about their manipulation of Western
governments.

busar: This is exactly what I know of.
I was discussing with a muslimah(married) one day and she made mention of brothers hiding their true character from the sister. But she would get to know his true character afterward.
I think/know that she(the sister) is experiencing the same thing.
Question: how can you know the true character of someone without courtship before marriage?
Seriously, i use to pity our sisters' on what they go through in marriage after years of courtship, but most of the time its there inability to see beyond their fingers, they substitutes illusion with reality and latter end of regreting. They usually class the good guys as boring/unwise and ignore them for the percieved CHarming!
As Mac. Mentioned, guys promise them this and that and they will believe which after marriege turn out to be elusion.

maclatunji: Ok, wife stands at door and blocks husband from going to work? Husband tries to call her "people", wife pounces on his phone and throws it away.

Man has to get to work on time or there will be serious repercussions which could lead to his dismissal.

Husband has tried for wife to reason with him but she won't. What do you think the husband should do in such a situation?
I know Deols and Sissie have answer to this. Where are they?
Islam for Muslims / Re: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by Danmas: 9:02pm On Jan 02, 2014
busar: Beating won't even stop her from nagging/misbehaving in the house.there are several ways to punish a wife /women besides beating/flogging, it will even worsen the situation at hand. The best I will suggest is for the man to keep calm when she's boiling. but when she comes back to her sense he can talk some sense into her dry brain.
A neigbhour of mine was fighting with his wife one day,he was so angered to the extent that he picked a plank to hit his wife but fortunately the plank hit a fellow neighbour that was seperating them on her arm.The poor neighbour suffers the pain for days.
Note:Anything can happen during the fight.I remenbered a day I was trying to seperate a fighting couple,I was hit in the stomach. cry during the course.
Hahaha...sorry! But that 'hit' should never stop you from separating couples oh! Cause some men can commit murder.

These ones should never have gotten married. Are they kids? smh.

My friend called me yestrdy about a girl who wouldn't return to her husband's house after visiting her parents. she'd been married for only one year! and then we talked and talked about similar scenarios we know of.

Children getting married all over the place..and the word, children isn't literal.

*i actually dislike having to rephrase or reinterpret my statements like I have been doing on this thread*

I will soon get tired of this place angry
I agree these couples should neva hv gotten married. Funny enough these are supposed to be matured couples because the man is someone in his mid 30's and the wife looks like 23-5yr old. And this marriage is not more than 2yr, you see they are supposed to be in honeymoon because its in it early stage. As Uncle Tbb mensioned in his previous post they shnd'nt hav gotten tired of each other.

tbaba1234: Spousal abuse, either physically or verbally should not be tolerated. Some women know exactly what will get under his skin and will say it anyway just to see what happens. Constant verbal abuse by one spouse affects the sense of self worth of the other.

Let's be honest, patience can really be stretched and the ego injured but there is no excuse for physical abuse. Men and women caught in abusive relationships (verbal or physical) should seek a resolution or a way out depending on the severity.

In true mafian fashion, my dad told my sister's husband that the day he beats her, he will fly over there, break his legs and take his daughter.

A woman should never publicly humiliate her husband though. A man can take a slap from his wife in private and forgive but it is much harder to forgive a public humiliation.

What that woman did is also inexcusable.

Offcouse any kind of abuse should nt be tolerated. But many women are gud at that and its not every man can stand that (dare a man hmm..)

Of course you are reading the wrong meanings. I will NEVER beat anybody.

I will not let anyone beat my CHIlDren.

You hear, I hate anyone beating anyone. So if anyine beats me, he is going to pay for it. That he will pay for it does not mean that I will beat him back. Read my post again and ask questions when you don't understand what I am saying.

Don't assume the wrong things. I am NOT violent.
i know. Thanx.
May Allah gv us the best of spouce.

No!! Nothing I do, Nothing at all should/would make anyone whatsoever raise his hands at me.

Are You kidding? what would warrant what?

Seriously, he is going to spend everything he's spent his life making(, if he has made enough) or more. Because what I am going to do to him, he will forever nurse its wounds.

..and who is the stoopid woman he is beating? sHe doesn't have anywhere to run to?

This story is disgusting. I can not even be in the picture.

@Op, nothing warrants a man beating his wife. He should have commited suicide b4 even thinking of it.
kai! Is like you woul do the opposite if you could! 'no offence' yovr statement say it all.
but its stated (unhamful beating) in the Qur'an as last resort!

Just_follow_it:

cheesy That's harsh. Personally I will never take that from anyone. But to be objective there are instances where some women acts warrant such. The most common scenario in our society is a woman who prevents her husband from leaving the house just because he refuses to do something which the wife thinks is important, as for me anything that happens to her during this is not the man's fault, it is the consequences of her own actions and she has to take the blame for it.

OR A woman who slaps a man publicly even though the man is blameworthy
from what i heard its a similar situation. Tha man in question had problem (of disrespect publicly) with the wife in the morning b4 leaving 4 work. And when he comes back at around 10pm she refused to open the door for him claiming he went for a date with another lady he claimed he wants to bring as SECONDwife. After knocking severa times he call her phone she reject, he later call her aunty to plead for her she also refused. Its at that point he buggled the dòor, enter and sit on a sofa without saying anything to her, she then come to the fallow nd start insulting loudly which we can even hear from the negbouring building. Hmm....
Islam for Muslims / Re: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by Danmas: 4:23pm On Jan 02, 2014
Sissie:

So in the situations you listed its ok for the woman to get beaten for it.

Hmmmmm. I hope if this situation happens your family member you would give the man gold medal for a job weldone ad encourage him.
Realy? Supprised! i thought women would not support this. Anyway any woman that i can fight or beat is not worth staying with.
May gv us the best of spources.

@Mac. You make a very reasonable analysis of the situaton. But idont think the issue of pregnancy or cut having sex will apply here ( though not sure) because of the environment i live in.
For the two question$, i dont think they can answer any honestly. What i believe is they got married out of desperatión or rather infatuation.

Salam. For evr1 in the house, may Allah reward you all for this intresting and educating discussions.
There was this negbour (i call there union boxing ring)of mine who almost every month or weeks fight his wife or rather barter her at a slightest of prov6cation, yesterday they hadly allow us to sleep of to the extend that we hav 2 come out at around 12:30am to seperate them. Now the question is; is there anything that your spource can do tht warrant bartering the beautiful mother of kids, your companion,is it not shameful? . I am not in any way challenging/disputing the ruling(unharmful beating of a spource) but with my little knowledge i dont think its the sunnah of the prophet p.b.h. and his companions p.b.u.t. And lastly for the sisters is there anythng u think you can do to your hubby that warrant that if he is not the very patiente type.
Brodas and sister, although this thread is for singles, but i know Mac. Deols and CO can do justice to these. citation are welcome if necessary.

Islam for Muslims / Marrying A Non-Muslim! by Danmas: 11:46am On Dec 20, 2013
I have being thinking toward this recently, as a muslim, do you like/desire marrying non muslima because its permissible for a man to marry among the peaple of the book( though the ayah gave preference to muslimah). My concern is that we have so many sisters out there who are still single, some are divorced while others are widows who are yet to hav husbands. Another thing is the way they(the non believers) live their lifes; flirting, pornication, westernized way of life and to say it all am afraid (some) came out of wedlock.
It got to a level were i had to ask a scholar on these and here are his responses:
1. We hav many sister who posses all you would love to hav in a partner.
2. The qur'an specifically gîves preference to muslima and in sunnah the prophet(pbuh) encourage us to go for the deen above all in choosing our spouse.
3. It started during a time when muslims are not much in number (though no justification to call it prohibited now) 4. The future of your children i.e upbringin and the issue of divorce or after you'r death.
Pls. I need your opinion (peaple who have experience in the house). Am asking because i think in the near future i may come across somethng of these sort(though neva thougt of going that way). Thanks
