Politics / Onaiyekan-nigerians Using Herdsmen Attacks To Incite Religious Crisis by Danmas: 2:00pm On May 08, 2016
We must look beyond partisan politics if we want peace and progress in Nigeria…

Paul Obi and Kasim Suimana in Abuja
The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Metropolitan
See, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, on Saturday said
many Nigerians were now using the recent
herdsmen attacks to fan embers of religious
battle, discord and hatred among fellow citizens.
Onaiyekan stated this while unveiling a N300
million skill acquisitions and humanitarian centre,
tagged Marian Soup Kitchen in Abuja. The centre
was initiated by the priest of the Holy Cross
Catholic Church Gwarinpa, Rev. Dr. Willy Ojukwu.
The Cardinal told the gathering that the rise of
herdsmen attacks had continued to fuel division,
hatred and religious tension in the country, with
severe consequences for the nation.
“There is a terrible wind blowing around our
country right now. There are so many people who
are fanning the flames of discord and of hatred
and it is becoming very difficult to preach unity
and mutual natural love and there are those who
are already envisaging a clash between Christians
and Muslims.
“There are those who are interpreting the clash
between herdsmen and farmers as the front line
of this battle. Some are sharpening their
cutlasses getting ready for the big battle,”
Onaiyekan said.
He said: “Concerning the herdsmen, everybody
knows what government should do because one
of the primary duties of government is to ensure
security of life and property of all Nigerians;
which means that where you have any group of
people, whether they are herdsmen or kidnappers,
or armed robbers, government should device ways
of effectively checkmating them.”
He explained that even in the midst of this
quagmire, there are still exceptional cases.
“Thanks be to God there are many Nigerians who
believe that we are not doomed to kill one
another and that there is hope for us to live
together as fellow Nigerians.
“We have done it for many years. Despite the civil
war, we have lived together and the civil war in
any case was not a war between Christians and
Muslims. We have proved to the whole world that
we can live together,” Onaiyekan added.
He further stated, “I will go all over the world
boasting of this, telling them that in Nigeria, we
have not less than 80 million Christians, 80
million Muslims, living side by side, day by day at
every level of our lives, from the Executive Council
meetings in Aso Villa down to the women in Wuse
market. We must live together because nobody
has anything to gain in conflicts, confusion and
differences. Despite our differences, there is
something common that we share.
“What the Sultan and I have been preaching all
along is that the things that we have in common
are much more important than the things that
divide us. Even in doctrine, to believe that there is
one God, that is something great. Only a few mad
people will tell us that the God of Christians is
different from the God of the Muslims.
“To believe in this one God, that is something
great. When we suffered Ebola disease outbreak in
Nigeria, there was no Christian Ebola or Muslim
Ebola. We all faced it together. When we suffered
from corruption and bad government, is it as if
Christians are not concerned, only Muslim? Or,
Muslims are not concerned, only Christians?
“Among the thieves, there are Christians and
Muslims. And among all of us who are suffering
it are Christians and Muslims. We have a
common task to insist on good government, to
insist also on honesty in government. To do this,
we must come together and fix our common
challenges”, he added.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III,
represented by the Executive Secretary, Abuja
National Mosque Management Board, Alhaji
Ibrahim Jega, said government should do more
for the less privileged, adding that Islam will never
teach violence, insurgency and wanton killings.
Jega urged the youth to shun violence and stick
to the teachings of both faiths. He further
encouraged the youths to make good use of the
centre and also appealed to the management of
Marian Soup Kitchen to make the centre as active
and accessible as possible to the less privileged
which is the core purpose for setting up the
centre.
On his part, Ojukwu contended that “religion
should not separate but unite us, hence, the
promotion of inter-religious harmony from the
grassroots. We should be our brothers’ and
sisters’ keeper, hence the feeding of the hungry,
counseling the downtrodden and giving hope to
the hopeless from all segments of the society”.

Politics / Re: Fulani Herdsmen Cause Accident On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by Danmas: 2:24pm On May 04, 2016
everything now is fulani hardsmen… jus because of PMB.
Religion / Islam Closer To Christ Than Christianity : UK Pastor by Danmas: 9:55pm On May 03, 2016
Please lets understand each other and stop the religious fight…

A Christian pastor has confirmed that Islamic
teachings are closer to the Christ than many
churches in the west, following a comparative
study into both faiths.
“I know some emphases in Islamic teaching come
closer to the teaching of Christ and the Bible than
some teaching in Western churches,” Steve
Chalke, pastor and founder of the Oasis Charity,
told Christian Today.

“Ultimately the full interpretation of who Allah/
God is can be seen through Jesus,” he added,
confirming that both faiths worship the same God
or Allah.
“Islam and Christianity are two very different
faiths and there are huge differences between the
two.”
Chalke comments followed the release of his new
book, Radical, in which he explained how he had
come to the conclusion that “Muslims and
Christians worship the same God”.
He explained how Christians interpret god in
different ways which vary greatly.
“As individuals we all worship different shades of
the same God,” he said.
“There are Christians who worship a militant,
violent God. There are Christians who worship a
God who doesn’t want women in leadership.
There are Christians who worship a God who
says if you are gay you will burn in hell. There are
Christians who worship a God who does not
believe in global warming.
“I don’t separate from them even though they
have a very different take on God’s character
from me,” he added. He cited the theologian
Miroslav Volf, who took a similar line in his book
‘Allah: A Christian Response’.
Common ground
Describing Islamic beliefs as “very attractive”,
Chalke insisted there was significant common
ground that must be explored.
“If we say Islam is an evil religion and they
worship a different God and Christianity is the
only way to heaven then we are heading for World
War Three,” he said.
He added that “tabloid” representations of Islam
were permeating the Church.
“If we went into a pub tonight and asked people
what Christians believe they would say six-day
creationists, anti-gay, anti-abortion, boring, if you
die before you’re baptised you will go to hell. The
tabloid media have led people to misunderstand
Christianity and pastors now have to spend half
their time de-mythologising Christianity,” he said.
“What we don’t realise is the media are selling us
the same lie about Muslims,” he said.
He added: “The problem is we don’t know any
Muslims. Everyone is scared of Muslims except
the one who sits next to them at work”.
Muslims believe in Jesus as one of the great
Prophets of God and that he is the son of Mary
but not the Son of God. He was conceived and
born miraculously.
In the Noble Qur’an, Jesus is called “Isa”. He is
also known as Al-Masih (the Christ) and Ibn
Maryam (Son of Mary). As for his crucifixion,
Muslims believe that Jesus was not crucified but
was lifted up to heaven.
Muslims believe that Jesus will come back to
earth before the end of time to restore peace and
order, fight the Anti-Christ (Al-Dajjal) and bring
victory for truth and righteousness.

Politics / The Truth About NNPC New Model By Ebe Kachiku by Danmas: 9:42pm On May 03, 2016
Lagos — When the federal government recently unveiled plans to enter into a Joint Venture (JV) arrangement with investors to fund, rehabilitate and jointly operate Nigerian refineries, views of Nigerians became divided. Some view the development as proactive while others see it as another way of privatising the plants by the Buhari-led administration. Our reporter analyse the view points. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) recently said the Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) for the Nigeria's four refineries gulped about $22 million, saving taxpayers $1.57 billion from the $1.6 billion earlier voted for the projects. The NNPC said $10 million, about 48 per cent of the total expenditure, was spent on the two refineries in Port Harcourt. The $22 million expenditure was a huge reduction from the $216 million, which the Sani Abacha-led regime spent for the same purpose. The federal government is said to have spent over $2.036 billion on the TAM of the country's refineries in the last 13 years. The administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo had set aside $369 million for the TAM of the nation's four refineries, while the Abdulsalami Abubakar and Sani Abacha regimes spent $92 million and $216 million, respectively for the same purpose. In 2007, the NNPC claimed it awarded the contract for a comprehensive TAM on all the refineries to a Nigerian firm. The sum of $1.6 billion was voted for TAM of the four refineries across the country by the end of 2014. The 150,000 bpd Port Harcourt refinery was built in 1989. TAM operations were carried out in 1991, 1994 and 2000. The Kalu Idika Kalu Committee had, in May 2013 during a visit to the Port Harcourt Refinery, discovered its four boilers were not operative. Two out of the four power plants were dysfunctional. Besides, the committee found that there was evidence of poor maintenance with serious corrosion of major key units, just as morale of the workers was low and management was dysfunctional with little or no financial authority. The inoperative state of the refineries, for a long time, threw the nation into crisis, making the importation of oil into the country became an all- comers affair and fraudulent. In his argument, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, at this year's May Day celebration in Abuja, urged the federal government to effectively fight corruption in the nation's oil and gas sector. He said if corruption is arrested in the sector, the huge amount used in importing refined petroleum products could go into other productive ventures in the economy. No doubt, it is regrettable that maintenance of the nation's refineries by previous governments were carried out at high costs. Yet, despite the questionable amounts spent on the maintenance, the refineries have remained unproductive, leaving Nigerians to wonder whether the assets were actually rehabilitated or used as avenues of siphoning resources. But the NNPC said the current JV deal on the three refineries, namely, 210,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD) Port Harcourt Refinery, Warri and Kaduna refineries with combined refining capacity of 445,000 bpsd, will also include, but not limited to, off-take of refined products for sale primarily in the Nigerian market. The corporation said the refineries will be jointly operated by NNPC and the selected investors for a defined period, until investments are fully recovered. The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), however, picked holes in the arrangement and warned the NNPC of the dangers of partnering investors as joint technical partners for the rehabilitation and operation of the refineries. NUPENG also expressed its reservation over NNPC's invitation of pre-qualification for rehabilitation, upgrade, operatorship, management, maintenance and security of NNPC jetties, storage depots and pipeline infrastructure on joint venture partnership basis. The union said: "NUPENG believes that the current move by the NNPC is a form of privatisation, through the backdoor, of our national assets which is doomed to fail and bring about more hardship to the citizens, just the way the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) privatisation failed to bring the desired results but darkness all over the country. ARTICLE CONTINUES AFTER ADVERTISEMENT It stated that for security reasons and in the interest of protecting the jobs of oil and gas workers, the planned partnership will be resisted by NUPENG. It added that no investor will want to put his money in the joint venture partnership arrangement without having a say in the running of the refineries, storage depots and jetties. Similarly, a leader in the nation's oil sector has faulted the modality employed by the authorities to refurbish the refineries, saying it smells of government's desire to sell the refineries under the guise of joint venture. An oil and gas expert, Bola Andrew, however, said there is nothing wrong with the arrangement the government intends to employ to rehabilitate the refineries and efficiently run the facilities. He said: I believe there is nothing wrong with the joint venture between the federal government and partners to run the refineries. So, there is no cause for alarm over the implementation of the deal. For me, the joint agreement will be a clear departure from the previous manner of turning around the nation's refineries for efficiency and profitability." Stakeholders in the oil and gas sector are, therefore, waiting to see whether or not the intended model to refurbish the nation's refineries would work, buoys the country's refining capacity and minimise oil products importation.

Politics / Ali: Customs Generates N1.5bn Daily by Danmas: 7:38am On Nov 06, 2015
Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.)
By Senator Iroegbu, James Emejo and Yemi Akinsuyi in Abuja

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.), has disclosed that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generates between N1 billion and N1.5billion on a daily basis through various import duties.

Ali stated this on Thursday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja.

He said the NCS as presently constituted with limited facilities to carry out its duties, lacks the capacity to generate the needed revenue for the country and will therefore require the assistance of the Nigerian Navy.
Also, the service disclosed that it would re-open the Gamboru and Banke border posts in Maiduguri, Borno State, years after the positions were temporarily abandoned following deadly attacks by Boko Haram
The Comptroller-General noted that apart from the daily revenue generation, the nation loses billions of naira during most of its numerous public holidays.

He said: “Part of our job on trade certification is dependent on the navy, the more we get the more likely our revenue rises.

“Any day we declare public holiday we lose money, in practical terms the customs, our ports generates about N1 billion to N1.5 billion a day, so any day they say public holiday that is N1.5 billion gone. And Nigerians love holidays, if Christmas falls on Saturday we will say we want to have Monday as holiday but to us it’s a pain because we are now looking at it in terms of raw cash.”

Ali lamented that the customs marine command “is depleted and the few ones that are trained have now been retired and we are now in a state that we really need to train these people; which we can only have that from the Navy.

“If you oblige us, there are young talented people that I’m sure they will be trained for them to effectively do their job.”

To this end, Ali said the customs under his leadership was reaching out to their strategic partners in the sector, especially Nigeria Navy, to be able to generate more revenue and provide better services.

The customs boss listed the areas they would need partnership and assistance from the Navy, including running of the two newly acquired marine boats and patrolling the waterside.

Secondly, he said:, “We will ask for the training of our men as we go along, so that we have people that would know exactly what to do when they are in those waters and know exactly what to look for, so that if they see what they are looking for how do they go about arresting the situation.

“We will subject our people for training and retaining, we will request that some of your personnel come on board with them from time to time so that they how us practically terms how this thing should be done”.

Ali said such learning, training and retraining was necessary for the agency, noting that he is even yet to master the technical know-how required to supervise NCS.

“The customs cannot claim expertise than you, we will request in that area if we can get support in terms of training, in terms of even inspecting our boats and certifying that it is enough for the job.

“I am learning to be a customs officer, it’s so technical that I have decided to go back to school. I am reading now than more than I am in the university..m to digest and understand and lead,” he said.

He continued: “We realise that resources is a problem to all of us. We are today one of the major revenue collectors in the sense that oil is dwindling, certainly we cannot depend on oil, and for the customs to be able to meet its target we need trade facilitations, which now means that our water ways must be accessible to ships, our waterways must be accessible to traders who want to bring in goods, it must be accessible to investors who want to bring in their technical know-how.”

Speaking further CGC, proposed a “forum where the armed forces and the paramilitary will create a platform interact from time to time at the apex and also middle level so that anything that comes up we will quickly digest it and know who specifically should do it, which makes it easier to accomplish our tasks.

“Today’s threats are both internal and external, cattle rustling now has become a big phenomenon, smuggling too is a big issue”.

Responding, Ibas agreed that the nation is faced with serious challenges, key amongst which is the dwindling revenue, “and since the customs is one of the pillars through which the nation depend it is therefore imperative that we do things differently to help us as a nation survive”.

He however noted that in recent times, the challenges in the maritime environment have expanded from smuggling to pipelines vandalism, piracy, oil smuggling crude oil theft and other vices.

“We have over 3000 creeks and estuaries that need to be covered, most of our imports are being diverted either because of policies that are not favourable to importers, these I will request that you look at so as to encourage imports to be directed to Nigeria so that the necessary revenues that we are missing will be able to come back to us,” he revealed.

As a result, the CNS harped on the need to strengthen the agencies intelligence sharing, saying that “navy cannot be in all the creeks at all the times, and want to believe that your men who are there will be able to share the relevant information with us with regards to shipping activities that they say are detrimental to the national economy”.

Ibas also called the attention of Custom’s boss about an Island off the coast of Badagry, Lagos, which he noted “is just by the Nigeria-Benin Republic border at the tongue island in Badagry”.

He employed the CGC “to consider that island as a strategic Island to Nigeria and perhaps to consider emplacing your men there so that the operation covers there because I know that that is one area that smuggling of small arms can thrive in.”

Meanwhile, the re- opening of the two strategic border posts followed the relative calm and normalcy that had returned to the area following sustained disarmament by the military operations in the zone.

The resolve re-established the customs border posts was jointly agreed during a courtesy visit by Comptroller- General of Customs (CGC), Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. T.Y Buratai at the army defence headquarters in Abuja as part of a three-day working visit to customs key stakeholders.

Speaking to journalist briefly after the meeting, Ali said:”Yes we have agreed on re- opening of the shut border. We wanted to know the challenges and what he is ready to do and as much as we asked him to do certain things for us , we look at the atmosphere, the enabling environment for our people to operate. So will consider re- opening of the border posts.”

The Chief of Army Staff had earlier given an update on military onslaught against insurgent in the Northeast and requested for the re-opening of closed border posts in Gamboru and Banki, noting that the areas were now calm and safe.

Buratai had also solicited the cooperation of customs boss in fast tracking prompt clearing of large container of arms being shipped from abroad to the country in a day or two for onward transfer to North East to reinforce military operations against Boko Harram.

In a related development, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, yesterday renewed old ties with the Nigeria Customs Service.

This partnership, according to a release signed by the Force spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, Assistant Commissioner of Police, is aimed at cooperating with the Customs in tackling border crimes and advancing the capacity of the Service in realising its core mandate.

Kolawole said the relationship became fruitful when the Comptroller-General of Customs, Ali, paid a courtesy call on Nigeria Police leadership in Abuja.

Ali who was at the Force Headquarters with other senior officers of the Service, used the occasion not only to renew their relationship, but also to seek police partnership in the area of information sharing, tackling border-related crimes, smuggling and improving on the revenue drive capacity of the Customs.

In his response, Arase promised to improve on the existing level of intelligence sharing with the Customs and to extend training opportunities to personnel of the Service towards building the capacity of Customs personnel as they strive to attain their mandate.

Politics / The Fear Of Buhari… by Danmas: 7:11pm On Oct 26, 2015
Business is slow at the moment for Benedict
Okafor, who sells luxury cars from a lot near the
port in Nigeria’s financial capital, Lagos.
In the capital, Abuja, 535 kilometres (333 miles)
away, the property market seems to be in a rut,
with the habitual buyers — the monied elite —
staying away.
“I normally sold five cars every month before”
President Muhammadu Buhari came to power,
said Okafor. “But in the past four months I have
sold only one Toyota car.
“I guess rich people are scared.”
Jide Agboola, a real estate agent in Abuja, also
attributed the current slump in conspicuous
consumption to fear: “The fear of Buhari.”
It’s not hard to see why when Buhari’s promised
crusade against high-level corruption has already
snared a series of household names.
Senate leader Bukola Saraki — Nigeria’s third-
most senior politician after Buhari and his vice-
president Yemi Osinbajo — is facing charges of
false declaration of assets.
Godswill Akpabio, the former governor of coastal
Akwa Ibom state, was hauled in for questioning
over claims he had stolen 108 billion naira ($540
million, 475 million euros) while in office.
Sule Lamido, the governor of Jigawa state in the
north, and Gabriel Suswam, who was governor of
Benue state until earlier this year, are also
fighting accusations of graft.
At the same time, former oil minister Diezani
Alison-Madueke, was arrested in London as part
of a British investigation into suspected bribery
and money laundering.
– Stopping the rot –
Buhari’s arrival in May appears to have given
fresh bite to the fight against corruption, which
has plagued Nigeria over decades of military rule
then civilian administration.
Cases involving top officials that were long
thought to have been shelved have been revived,
as he seeks to fulfil his election promises of
stopping the rot in the system.
“As soon as he (Buhari) came to power, without
any direct instruction from him, the anti-graft
agencies went into a frenzy, dusting down cases
of corruption against some past officials which
have been long dead in order to convince
Nigerians that they are working,” Debo Adeniran,
head of the pressure group Coalition Against
Corrupt Leaders, told AFP.
The move was predictable for many: Buhari’s
previous time in power as the head of a military
regime in the 1980s was characterised by his so-
called “War Against Indiscipline”.
“Everybody remembers Buhari’s antecedents when
he was a military dictator,” said Bukola Daniel, a
Lagos-based political scientist.
“He was a no-nonsense military ruler. The fear of
Buhari is now all-pervading and everybody is
careful not to be caught in a corruption web.”
– Witch-hunt? –
Nigeria’s main opposition Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), however, is crying double standards.
They point out that the former governors of Lagos
and Rivers states, Babatunde Fashola and Rotimi
Amaechi, have both been accused of graft but are
still in line for ministerial posts.
Instead, the PDP described the anti-corruption
drive as a “witch-hunt” against its members and
other “perceived political opponents” of Buhari’s
All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
Party spokesman Olisa Metuh denounced what he
described as “the relentless victimisation of our
key members”.
The APC dismissed the claim as a “worn-out
argument”.
Certainly, Alison-Madueke’s arrest in particular
has underlined to Nigeria’s elite that it’s no
longer business as usual — even if Abuja has
denied any direct involvement.
But Adeniran and others said Buhari needed to go
further to avoid accusations of posturing.
Clement Nwankwo, head of the Policy and Legal
Advocacy Centre, a pro-democracy group, said
securing convictions would prove the situation
was not just “rhetoric”.
“The challenge to corruption has to be
systematic. That I have not seen,” he said.
“We also cannot fight corruption with the judiciary
we have today,” he added, explaining the courts
were ill-equipped to deal with corruption cases.
– ‘A few more Buharis’ –
For now, there is a sense that rich and powerful
Nigerians — so long accustomed to impunity —
are on their best behaviour.
How long it will last is unclear but social
commentator and university lecturer Samson
Olatunde Oduleye said Buhari’s influence could be
decisive.
“If we have a few more Buharis and emphasis
shifts to the root of the problem — the society —
inroads can be made into a sustainable assault
on the malaise,” he said.
“The most effective, non-legal check on
corruption is the moral tone of society: societal
values.
“There are things you will not contemplate doing
even when there is no-

Nairaland / General / Nigerian Army Reopen A Public School In Gwoza by Danmas: 6:04pm On Sep 20, 2015
2015-09-20 17:35 Bauchi - A Nigerian military official says public schools are reopening in Borno state, in the country's northeast, where the military has pushed Boko Haram extremists from many cities and towns. Many schools have been closed for more than two years in areas of the state that had been controlled by Boko Haram, which means "Western education is sinful." A three-month multinational offensive earlier this year drove Boko Haram out of towns including Gwoza which had been headquarters of the group's Islamic Caliphate. Nigeria's military reopened a public school in Gwoza on Saturday. Military spokesperson Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said schools are being reopened while troops continue to recapture territory from the insurgents. The UN children's agency says at least 1.4 million children are currently displaced by Boko Haram's uprising.

Family / The Agony Of Monogamy by Danmas: 2:01am On Jul 10, 2015
I saw this article and thought its worth sharing as i find it very inclusive. lets hear your opinion…

The Agony Of Monogamy
 Jul 8, 2015
By Tola Adeniyi
It was at the Church service for the 90th birthday
of the legendary Matriarch of the Awo dynasty
Chief Dr Hannah Dideolu Awolowo in Ikenne that
the thoughts that prompted this article began.
Some well known highly placed gentlemen and
their wives were called upon to partake in the
wine sipping, bread-breaking ritual called Holy
Communion. As soon as these respectable ladies
and gentlemen, all of them past age 70, and
amongst whom were renowned professors, high
court judges, legal luminaries and business
moguls, finished their spiritual blessing and were
returning to their seats, they cut a pitiable sight
in their over-flowing garb of hypocrisy.
They clung to their wives as if they were newly
wedded. I temporarily forgot that I was in a holy
Church, the spiritual enclave of Christians. I
almost laughed my head off because I knew each
of the ‘holy’ ‘monogamous’ men intimately and
by Jove, I knew of their second, third or fourth
wives/liaisons/mistresses with whom they had
sired several children. To the whole world they
were champions of monogamy, but to their hearts
and conscience they were celebrated polygamists,
or at best, serial monogamists. Pshaw!
I saw pain written all over them, the agony of
living a lie, the unease of hypocrisy, and the
shame of going through life pretending to be what
you are not.
This is the sort of agony a lot of the so-called
monogamists go through all their lives. The series
of lies they sell to their wives, and the double life
they present to their pastors and church leaders,
most of whom are actually equally guilty of
hypocrisy and double life living.
This piece is not set out to condemn or criticise
monogamy. Monogamy is perfect for those who
believe in its concept and can genuinely keep to
it. I too have been married to one lovely woman
for almost 45 years and it has been like a
marriage made in heaven. I happen also to be the
promoter along with some friends the 35-year-old
Family Club of Nigeria that is dedicated to the
enlistment and celebration of marriage and family
values.
This article is designed to expose the hypocrisy
and pain associated with embracing false notions,
which are really not observed by any culture in
the world, and to advise those who erroneously
sentence themselves to a life of sadness and
emptiness because they were deceived to believe
that there is some utopia somewhere called
monogamy.
I am very much aware that this article will
generate a lot of controversy most especially from
those who live holier-than-thou lives and continue
to deceive the world that they are upholders of a
doctrine that is not supported by true and
enlightened interpretation of any religious
doctrine.
I have schooled, worked and lived virtually in all
the continents of the world and I make bold to
say with all emphasis at my disposal that no
culture on planet earth truly practises monogamy.
My Greek, Italian, Russian, British, American and
other Caucasian acquaintances routinely visit
their other wives [called by other names] with
whom they have children. But back in the homes
shared with the one carrying the ring, they are
monogamists!
The cultures that practise polygamy had always
known that at any given time, the number of
available marriageable women far out number
available men plus the fact that an 80-year-old
man, if he has money, is still very much in the
market whereas a 60-year-old woman may not
be that lucky. The biological limitation to a
woman’s productive age is also a factor. Why
should a woman therefore remain on the shelf till
age 45 when she could jolly well get married as
second or sixth wife to a man who can afford to
share life’s responsibilities with her? Why should
a woman leave a man with whom she is No. 1,
simply because he took a second wife and end up
being numberless in the hands of several men
with whom she naturally shares bed just because
of some doctrine she hardly understands?
The argument that children in a polygamous
house are always at each other’s throat does not
hold water. Many siblings of monogamous
families are known to have had worse and
irresolvable, irreconcilable squabbles, with dirty
bitterness over inheritance than children from
different mothers.
The agony suffered by both men and women in
the hand of unnatural laws and doctrines is too
stifling for comfort. In 2002, 502 Reverend
mothers were reported to have died while
procuring abortion in Rome. And stories of
Reverend fathers having children and sodomising
young men in their care are legion! Why the
hypocrisy? Why should the world continue to live
the life of an Ostrich?
The Western world which had not learnt the art of
living amicably with more than one partner under
the same roof but has indulged in multiple serial
marriages, divorcing [and in extreme cases
murdering ] innocent wives under flimsy excuses
so that another woman can move in should not
be the standard for the world. Thank God, Mrs.
Hillary Clinton in the United States and Mrs. Cook
in the United Kingdom were very much wiser.
They refused to allow some indiscretion on the
part of their husbands to ruin their marriages.
There was a well-known American actor who
passed on about a decade ago and all his 11 ex-
wives with their numerous children attended his
funeral. To ridicule the lie of their hypocritical
existence, all the women were recognised and
addressed as wives. As far as records show, the
man had 11 wives!
Society must rethink this issue of pretentious
monogamy vis-à-vis polygamy so that in the not-
too-distant future we do not end up with millions
of unmarried women whose life style would be
worse than prostitutes’ and millions of children
whose fathers would be nowhere to be found.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Muslim ‘terror Drill’ Draws Outrage In India by Danmas: 11:11am On Jan 02, 2015
This is what happen almost all over the world. Alot of the members the so called islamist insurgents have no known islamic ideology(misunderstood or deliverately used). From Boko haram to ISIS. But the media keep painting islam black with anything violent.
Islam for Muslims / Muslim ‘terror Drill’ Draws Outrage In India by Danmas: 11:04am On Jan 02, 2015
January 1, 2015 by Aljazeera
Men playing the part of enemies of the state in a ‘mock terror’ drill in the Indian state of Gujarat were made to wear the traditional Muslim hat, triggering indignation in political circles that Muslims are terrorists, local media have reported.
India Today reportedon Thursday that video footage gained from a drill conducted in the town of Surat on Saturday, showed ‘terrorists’ dressed in the traditional skull cap as it is known and widely associated with the Muslim community in India.
The incident drew outrage within political ciricles. The Congress party described it as an administrative failure. Mehboob Ali Sufi Baba, Gujarat BJP’s minority cell president, said the incident only served to stereotype the Muslim community.
“This type of act sends a wrong message to the masses,” Baba said.
Responding to media reports, Pradeep Sejul, deputy superintendent of police, told journalists the incident was “avoidable” and “should not have happened”.
“Mock drills were carried out in 10-15 locations. This should not have happened; it was an avoidable mistake. We assure you that if someone deliberately made the mistake, we will take action against them,” he said.
The police in the state were preparing for two high-profile events after intelligence reports suggested they may be vulnerable to terror attacks.

Rising tensions.

The incident comes after a series of events seen to be raising communal tensions in the country.
Last week, a Hindu man posing to be a Muslim on Twitter claimed to have set off a bomb in the southern city of Bangeluru. Police however, suspect that members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India were involved in the blast that left a woman dead.
Since early December, far-right Hindu groups allied with the ruling BJP have been accused of forced conversions of Christians and Muslims to Hinduism.
The events are called “homecomings,” with organisers saying they were reconverting people whose ancestors had once been Hindu.
Some of the Muslims converted in the city of Agra, though, later said they’d either been offered allurement to convert or threatened with violence if they did not.
The simmering religious issues have boiled over into parliament, with opposition lawmakers all but shutting down the legislature over charges that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had done little to stop the ceremonies.
Modi has been critised for not addressing the issue head-on.

Religion / Pastor Arrested For Testing Members Virginity With Finger. by Danmas: 10:11pm On Oct 18, 2014
By DAUD OLATUNJI
ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Police Command said yesterday, that it had arrested a pastor identified as Adekunle Kayode, 34, for conducting virginity test on a 20-year-old female member of his church in Abeokuta, the state capital, using his finger.
Kayode, a pastor in charge of Jesus Is The Way Evangelistic Ministry, Olorunsogo, Abeokuta, was reportedly arrested by detectives attached to Kemta Division in his house, 3, Okeyidi Street, Abeokuta.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said the pastor’s arrest was carried out when the victim narrated her ordeal to her father who then informed the police of the incident.
The pastor was reported to have been engaging in the act in the church weekly in a bid to confirm the girl’s virginity status.
According to the PPRO, “there was also a drama when the victim received ‘holy spirit’ which propelled her to reveal the misdeeds of the pastor who has indulged in this ungodly act for years.
“Another suspect arrested for similar offence is one Onatade Oluwasegun, 23, of 4, Sheriff Onatade Street, Obantoko for conspiring with the said pastor to use the victim for a ritual purpose.
“The father of the victim alleged that the duo were fond of dipping their fingers in the victim’s private part even when she was menstruating for reasons best known to them.
“She also claimed that the pastor recently confirmed her virginity status when she was to take part in a church programme.
“The victim has also claimed that Oluwasegun used a charm while attempting to rape her as directed by the pastor possibly for a ritual but she miraculously escaped.
“Meantime, the police have recovered the charm from the pastor within the church premises.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye, has directed that the matter be transferred to the SCID, Eleweran for further investigation.”
Man beats daughter to death

Politics / Obj. Ibb Probe Gen. Mohd. Buhari! by Danmas: 12:12pm On Oct 03, 2014
Hear what Prof. Tam David West had to say
about
Gen. Buhari!
Buhari is one of the cleanest men I have ever
met in
my life. If anybody wants me to dislike Buhari,
such
person should give me an example of his
corruption. I will run away from him totally. But
right
now, there is no evidence. On the contrary, the
more they attack him on
this issue of corruption, the more they are
making
him Gold bier.
I will give two examples.
One, Babangida thought Buhari was making a
lot of
money on counter trading, so he set up two
independent bodies to investigate counter
trading.
One of the bodies was headed by J.K. Randle,
while
the second was headed by Prof. Aboyade of
blessed
memory. None of them found anything against
Buhari. None. I attested before the two bodies.
Great Aboyade commission was digging into
Buhari’s counter trading, J.K. Randle, who’s
still
alive, did the same thing. But both of them
produced reports that showed that counter
trading
was so clean and was making so much money
for
Nigeria. Then two, soon after Obasanjo was
sworn
in, there was a social function for him in Lagos
or
so, then surprisingly, some people tried to
praise
Buhari, Obasanjo said: ‘don’t praise him, I have
not
probed him.’ It was after that
incident that Obasanjo set up Dr. Haroun’s
probe
panel of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
Haroun
probed PTF inside out.
Buhari was discovered to be as clean as snow.
You
know, why he agreed to be the head of PTF
was not
to condone what Abacha was doing then, but
he
saw it as a way of serving the country and he
did
well. I have the record. Haroun came out and
said
PTF account was audited every year while
Federal
Government account was not audited in 36
years.
You know Babangida detained Buhari for 40
months
after he overthrew him. Buhari’s mother died
while
he was in detention and as a Muslim, I
expected
Babangida to rise above politics and allow
Buhari to
go bury his mother. If he was released, I am
sure he
wouldn’t have run away. Buhari was not
allowed to
go bury his mother. But in the night after the
woman was buried, Babangida released Buhari.
His
son died, the same thing happened.
Anyway, after Buhari came out of detention, he
told
Babangida to tell the world about his
corruption.
The records are there. The same thing
happened
with the PTF. He told Obasanjo to publish the
report
of the panel, but Obasanjo could not publish it
because it was a certificate of honour for
Buhari. If
that Haroun’s report had any page in it that
indicted
Buhari, Obasanjo
would have used that to disqualify Buhari from
contesting against him.
Buhari is clean. He is not corrupt. To show how
Buhari loves Nigeria, he doesn’t like spending
Nigerian money frivolously. When he overthrew
Shehu Shagari, Buhari never changed any chair
or
curtain in Dodan Barracks. Buhari used what
Shagari was using until he left. As minister, our
total pocket money under Buhari was N200 per
month. You could spend less than N200
without accounting for it, but anything above
N200,
you must account for it. When he increased the
money to N250, we clapped for him at the
executive
council. Now, as a former governor of the
defunct
north-eastern state, former minister of
petroleum,
former head of state, former executive chairman
of
PTF, Buhari has no house in Abuja. If he goes
to
Abuja, he stays in a
private hotel. He has no house either uphill or
downhill, apart from his house in Kaduna...........We need BUHARI by 2015

Tamunoemi Sokari David-West(born August 26, 1936), popularly known as Tam David-West, is a Nigerian academic, social critic, and former federal minister.

Politics / Re: Fayose Led Thugs To Beat Judges, CJ Tells NJC by Danmas: 2:33pm On Oct 01, 2014
His petition further read, “The above in the main was just the beginning of what would appear to be a pre-planned long siege and onslaughts on the court and its personnel.
“The political hoodlums showed again in large numbers on Tuesday, 23rd and Wednesday 24th of September, 2014 on the spurious ground that they came to listen to the ruling which they did not allow the presiding judge in Court No. 6 to deliver on Monday, September 22, 2014. No such ruling was slated for hearing since the thugs invaded the premises of the court on Monday.”
The Chief Judge said all entreaties to the police and law enforcement agencies to intervene in the mayhem yielded no positive response.
He stated, “It is needless to reiterate here that while the mayhem and attack on judges and staff and property of the court was in progress, scores of policemen and SSS (State Security Service) operatives posted to protect lives and property within the court premises looked on and watched without taking any step to save the situation.
“All entreaties to officers and men of Ekiti State Command to protect the court as an important institution of state yielded no positive response.”
