very much aware of that.. i went through that experience and lost money ..until mechanic stated that i should convert it to manual use.. i figure this is not what the manufacture intended it to be. so i order one via ebay and the rest is history....

same goes for all the parts in ladipo and anywhere else ... you dont really know exactly what you are buying .. you just taking a chance

sometimes you dont need a new one.. the one i bought for my elantra was a used rebuilt one.. am sure if the mechanics can take their time ,they can rebuilt it in Lagos.. If mechanics in Lagos can convert a 2008 car to a 2010 upgrade car.. so rebuilding a/c compressor should not be a big deal

at what expense ? at the engine expense ? you basically over working the car engine...... such thing will never be done in a sane country .. but each to his own

If I am in Lagos and I have the services and warranty of either Rad or Gaz, I'll always go with their expert opinion and diagnosis. But, there's a category of Nigerians that can't afford their fees or OEM parts required for the fixes, (it's not a crime to own a vehicle even if you can't maintain it) and it's perfectly okay for this people to explore cheaper options.

If say economy permit, nobody go dey buy toks when we fit enter dealership fill post-payment forms on credit.

Someone that sells oil and will educate you on the importance of using the right weight and a fram filter says 'he knows nothing about cars' - that's a very fishy statement.

Dru please take pictures of the AC accumulator hose/fitting of any of your Civics that are on the E-hailing platforms (Don't bother about the engine bay), I want to quickly check something.

I understand thebigkendo and Aunty Rad's concerns and the true position is replacing a bad automatic compressor in a luxury vehicle with an OEM/Genuine one will cost an average of 170—200k, minus the aftermarket Condenser/dryer and possible expansion valve, freon and workmanship.

Not many Nigerians can afford to spend that much at a go for a convenience feature that can be properly Kazeemed, I fall within this category.

Been there twice, went for the manual compressor with a relay twice. Will I do it again?
