The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has won 12 of the 15 local government areas results so far declared last night by the LGA collation officers.

He defeated his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sandy Onor, who won in three local government areas.

Results from the three remaining local government areas, Obanliku, Boki and Akamkpa, were expected as collation was suspended till Monday (today).

The 12 local government areas won by Bassey include Yala, Calabar Municipal, Calabar South, Obudu, Yakurr, Akpabuyo, Biase, Etung, Odukpani, Bakassi, Obubra and Abi.

The three local government areas won by the PDP candidate are Ikom, Ogoja and Bekwarra.

There are 18 local government areas in Cross River State.

The governorship election Returning Officer for Cross River State, Prof Teddy Adias, presided over affairs at the Independent National Electoral Commission state headquarters in Calabar.

Senator Sandy Onor on Thursday emerged the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State.

Sandy contested the election with six other aspirants, Sen. Gershom Basset, Hon.Nkoyo Toyo, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo and Arthur Javis.

Sen. Sandy Onor from Cross River Central polled 236 votes to defeat Sen. Gershom Bassey from Southern Senatorial District who polled 175 in the primary election held on Thursday in Calabar, the Cross River state capital.

The election which was held in the State capital, was conducted in the presence of security.

The election which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, NEC, and members of the Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, IPAC, was peaceful, free and fair.

Presenter, Kanedrick Kingsley Agwu popularly known as Fada Kane has disclosed that he is not the father of the two kids he was told by his ex-girlfriend (MarryAnn Efa) he fathered.

The broadcaster took to his social media to publish court affidavits as well as details of the DNA test showing he is not the biological father of the kids.

According to the OAP “This is to inform the general public that Kanedrick Kingsley Agwu is not the biological father of Anthonia Duke and Paul Duke as alleged by one Miss MarryAnn Efa Duke.

“Attached are copies of DNA and court affidavit to further ascertain my claims.”

Eighteen years old Cross Riverian, Blessing Ikung has graduated from the United States of America’s military school.

The Obudu born Blessing attended the army basic training school in Fort Jackson, South Carolina State, USA where she graduated as Private E2.

CrossRiverHub gathers, she hails from Ibong village in Obudu Local Government Area of the State

Blessing Ikung was born in Nigeria and moved to America with her parents in 2021.

Her mother, Mrs. Theresa Udie took to her official Facebook account to share photos with the caption “I am the mother of an American soldier.”

Heavily armed security personnel have barricaded the Cross River State House of Assembly after the Federal High Court sacked 20 members of the State Assembly who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The security personnel comprising of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, Mobile Policemen, Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Squad among others are seen in and outside the assembly

At the time of this report, the Assembly gate is shut, staff is not allowed in or out while no House member is on sight.
