The Defence Headquarters has noted with dismay the gruesome allegations made by the Amnesty International against some senior military officers serving and retired of the Nigerian Armed Forces. It is unfortunate that all effort made in the allegation was geared towards continuation of blackmail against the military hierarchy in which the organisation had embarked upon as far back as the inception of military’s action against terrorist in the North East. The officers mentioned in the report have no reason, whatsoever, to indulge in the allegation made against them. It is unfortunate that the organisation just went out to gather names of specified senior officers, in a calculated attempt to rubbish their reputation as well as the image of the military. The action, no doubt, depicts more of a premeditated indictment aimed at discrediting the country for whatever purpose.http://vibes247.com/amnesty-international-report-intended-to-blackmail-the-nigerian-military-maj-gen-chris-olukolade/

Laura a teenager at a house party when someone suggested they all get tattoos – but five years later, her boyfriend says he hates the way the inked designs ‘stare’ at him A woman has spoken about his much she regrets two tattoos she has on her BOOBS – after admitting they creep out her boyfriend. Laura, who is now 23, was at a house party when she was 18 when someone suggested they all get tattoos. But the two smiley faces she got inked on her breasts have caused her problems ever since, with her boyfriend saying he hates the way they ‘stare’ at him. Laura told Extreme Body Disasters showing on TLC this Thursday: I went to a house party and had a few drinks.Laura’s partner of 18 months, Adam, is on particular unsettled by the unusual body art. When we first got together I tried to hide them so he wouldn’t notice them, now he says he thinks they are staring at him, explains Laura.Skin expert Dr Sam Bunting told Laura that the tattoos could be removed or incorporated into more inkings. Dr Bunting said: I can totally see why Laura hates these tattoos, they are amateurish and not something to be proud of. They are funny but five years on… not so funny. With the help of tattoo artist David Kafri, Laura opted for more body art, and the pair plan a design which beings together blossoms and butterflies. On the programme, Laura says she’s much happier with the result. http://vibes247.com/photo-woman-reveals-embarrassing-breast-tattoos-that-are-creeping-out-her-boyfriend/

If a 92-year-old can run a marathon, anyone can, right? If you need a little inspiration, look to Harriette Thompson of Charlotte, N.C. The 92-year-old finished the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon — her 16th such race. According to ‘competitor’, not only did Thompson cross the finish line, she is the oldest woman to complete a marathon. Thompson clocked in at 92 years old and 65 days, while the previous record holder, Gladys Burrill (“the Gladyator”) was 92 years and 19 days when she ran a marathon in 2010, according to The Associated Press. Thompson finished the 26.2-mile race in 7 hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds. (In case you were wondering, that’s more than two hours faster than Burrill’s time of 9:53:16.) Last year, Thompson set another record: She turned in the fastest time ever recorded in her age group: blazing through the course in 7:07:42. Duncan McFadyen, a reporter with member station WFAE in Charlotte, N.C., talked with Thompson before she left Charlotte last week. In addition to being a runner, she’s a concert pianist and says she thinks about the music she has played as she whiles away the miles. When I started, everybody was running, so I decided ‘I guess I’ll run too,’ and it didn’t seem at that time so bad,” she said.According to The Charlotte Observer, she ran Sunday’s marathon with her son Brenny. Aside from typical running buddy duties like feeding her “all these wonderful carbohydrates that kept me going,” he also helped keep her on course during the race. The newspaper adds: For a while there she was wobbling back and forth a little bit more than I liked,’ said Brenny Thompson, although he added that many of the roads on the course are paved so that they slope down from the center to the sides. ‘So I was on the side that she angled towards. She tends to lean to one side, and every once and a while I had to tell her “Lean right!” and she would lean more to the right. The video is on the website. Mods can help add it here..tanx http://vibes247.com/amazing-a-92-year-old-ran-her-16th-marathon-and-broke-a-record-photosvideo/

A Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, has advised elected members of the National Assembly from the Peoples Democratic Party to demonstrate integrity and probity if they want to be successful in their new task as opposition members in the national assembly. He urged the PDP lawmakers to champion reforms in the National Assembly that have to do with full disclosure and pay cuts, to reflect the fiscal realities of the moment, which will also give them the right pedestal to engage the government. Mr. Ribadu, who was speaking at a one-day retreat organised for members of the National Assembly elected under the PDP, said lawmakers, especially of the opposition stock, can be in charge of governance if they strictly hold on to their dual role of lawmaking and oversight. My first charge of you, therefore, is to urge you to be champions of probity in the workings of the National Assembly in itself, as well as in the Executive-Legislature relation. If Nigerians do not know how monies earmarked for the National Assembly are spent, or how much money a legislator earns, they will not support you casting any stone elsewhere. The first step therefore is to open up the National Assembly – ensure transparency and respect for the taxpayer. Public office is what it is – Public. Also, at this critical time of austerity in national earning, be the champions of cut in recurrent cost by slashing your own budgets. I am happy some of you, such as my friend Ben Bruce, have already taken up this line,” he said. Mr. Ribadu, who was PDP candidate for the Adamawa state governorship election, said as the face of the PDP at the centre, the National Assembly members need to show good personal conduct and lead by example. Your carriage, your patriotism and honest contributions as members of the National Assembly will go a long way in reinventing this our party and prepare it for a successful comeback in subsequent elections.” He said the success of the lawmakers’ effort to “keep government on its toes, ensure fiscal discipline, minimise corruption in the system and ensure strict compliance to appropriation and due process laws, the guard – here, you the legislators, have to go to equity with clean hands. You must demonstrate personal will and commitment to be above board if you really want to checkmate others”. According to him, internal reforms at the National Assembly give the legislators “the guts and the moral pedestal to face your job of legislation and oversight, headlong. And for you to excel in this you have to put in extra effort, more than your colleagues from the ruling party”. As I said earlier, PDP would depend a lot on your actions for its rebirth,” Mr. Ribadu said. “We would therefore expect robust, enriching, in-depth and patriotic contributions from you that will define the PDP as a truly nationalistic party that it is. Lastly, I would say, responsible opposition is not after planting booby traps and bottlenecks for the ruling party. It is, however, responsible to Nigerians in the sense of putting the government to task and ensure Nigerians get the best they deserve. You should not be hostile but you should not be gagged to silence. This balance is good for deepening democratic culture. It is good for our country,” he explained. Read full speech below. Remark by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu at a retreat for PDP National Assembly members held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday June 1, 2015 Courtesies Addressing a gathering of elected lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stock at this time is an opportunity of deep reflection and self-assessment. Last year by now, PDP was as strong as any ruling party could be. Some of you that were members of the National Assembly at the time represented the ruling party, as such, you were in control of the chambers both in leadership and numerical strength. Now, all this is gone with the outcome of the last elections. You will be going back to the Senate as the minority. There is some sense of personal loss, but there are great opportunities for all and democratic practice in Nigeria. With the loss of the federal government, you, as distinguished members of the National Assembly, are now the face of the PDP at the centre. Your carriage, your patriotism and honest contributions as members of the National Assembly will go a long way in reinventing this our party and prepare it for a successful come back in subsequent elections. As you are aware, the major thrust of legislative assignment is the dual roles of lawmaking and oversight function. In fact, if legislators will strictly concentrate on these two roles, it is safe to assume that they are in charge of the government because they appropriate and track the appropriations to ensure implementation. No one can do this better than lawmakers from the opposition that you are now. But to keep government on its toes, ensure fiscal discipline, minimise corruption in the system and ensure strict compliance to appropriation and due process laws, the guard – here, you the legislators, have to go to equity with clean hands. You must demonstrate personal will and commitment to be above board if you really want to checkmate others. My first charge of you, therefore, is to urge you to be champions of probity in the workings of the National Assembly in itself, as well as in the Executive-Legislature relation. A BRITISH fertility specialist, Professor Geeta Nargund, has advised women to start having children before the age of 30 or risk never having children. In a letter to Britain’s Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan, she lamented the increasing cost to the taxpayer, which she attributed to the surge of women in their 30s and 40s wanting IVF treatment. Nargund said: I have witnessed all too often the shock and agony on the faces of women who realise they have left it too late to start a family. For so many, this news comes as a genuine surprise and the sense of devastation and regret can be overwhelming. And so often the cry will be ‘Why did no one warn me about this? Information is power and the best way to empower people to take control of their fertility is through education. Ideally, if a woman is ready for a child, she should start trying by the time she is 30. She should consider having a child early because as a woman gets older, her fertility declines sharply. Similarly, the outgoing chair of the British Fertility Society, Professor Allan Pacey, backed Nargund’s view. He said: You need to be trying by 30 because if there is a problem and you need surgery, hormones or IVF, then you’ve got five years to sort it out. If a woman starts trying at 35, doctors have got to sort it out when she is already on a slippery fertility slope. Pacey insisted that teenagers should be sensitised on this, even as from primary school level. Nargund, a consultant gynaecologist, who works as the lead consultant for reproductive medicine at St George’s Hospital in London, added, “as women get older, they experience more complex fertility problems, so treatment tends to be less successful and more expensive. On average, more [IVF] treatment cycles are required for a successful pregnancy. So educating people about fertility is very important for the public purse, because it will help us to get more babies within the same NHS budget. http://vibes247.com/gynaecologist-start-having-children-before-30-or-risk-barrenness/

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has rejected talk of a rift with Mikel Obi, saying the Chelsea midfielder is still in his plans. Keshi has left the 28-year-old out of his squad for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad. “It’s true that I couldn’t reach him when he was injured but that’s not the reason for his omission,” Keshi told BBC Sport. “We’ve spoken and contrary to reports (in the local media) there is no problem between us at all.” Mikel has not played for Nigeria since November but Keshi insists the door remains open for the midfielder. “He’s an integral member of this team who brings a lot to it. Right now we are only giving opportunities to some new players,” he added. Another notable foreign-based absentee is defender Elderson Echiejile, who plays for Monaco in France’s Ligue 1. But there is a surprise recall for Slovakia-based Rabiu Ibrahim, who has yet to make his senior debut, while Watford’s Odion Ighalo is expected to make his competitive debut against Chad in Kaduna on 13 June. There were first-time call-ups for William Troost-Ekong, Kingsley Madu and Anderson Esiti. The 15 foreign-based stars will join other locally based players at their Abuja camp next week. Keshi, who won the Africa Cup of Nations as a player with Nigeria in 1994 and as coach in 2013, is confident he can revive the Super Eagles after their failure to qualify for the recent finals in Equatorial Guinea. “We have a big task ahead to rebuild this team and I am confident we are going to bounce back,” said Keshi. “The door is not shut on anyone; those invited must show they deserve it by giving their best.” http://vibes247.com/keshi-mikel-is-still-in-my-plans/

Festus Keyamo, the counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuting former Governor Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva and chairman of General Muhammed Buhari’s inauguration committee for alleged financial crimes has withdrawn. He stated this in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, stating that the developments which necessitated his withdrawal may hamper his effective, efficient and vigorous prosecution of the charge, duties that are expected of every prosecution counsel. Be it as it may, he therefore requested on the EFCC to permit him return the case files to the commission for re-assignment to another lawyer due for prosecution. Festus Keyamo joined the All Progressive Congress (APC), the same party with Timipre Sylva who left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over his failure to secure a second term in office. http://vibes247.com/keyamo-withdraws-as-prosecutor-of-timipre-sylvas-efcc-case/

A company in America has created a device called FUD which allows ladies to pee while standing! Yea, while standing! The product, GoGirl is the way to stand up to crowded, disgusting, distant or non-existent bathrooms. It’s a female urination device (sometimes called a FUD) that allows you to urinate while standing up. It’s neat. It’s discreet. It’s hygienic. GoGirl is easy to use. Just hold GoGirl against your body, forming a seal. Aim and, well, pee. GoGirl fits easily in your purse, pocket, or glove compartment. It’s a must for travel and sports. And it’s great for everyday – no more crouching over or trying to cover up an unsanitary public toilet. While the concept may be new to you, European women have used female urination devices for years. GoGirl’s not the first device of its kind. But try it. And we think you’ll agree it’s easily the best. Only GoGirl is made with flexible, medical grade silicone. Dispose of it after use. Or clean and reuse as you like. (Urine is sterile, but the product can come into contact with contaminates during use, so take precautions when cleaning.) Our patented splash guard eliminates messing and spilling. Once you practice a time or two, using GoGirl is going to feel like second nature. http://vibes247.com/incredible-ladies-can-now-pee-while-standing/

Protesters outside the Sharia Court eventually burned it down out of frustration over the statements made against the Holy Prophet Muhammad. Hundreds of Muslim youth protested outside a Sharia Court located in Kano City on Friday morning. According to protesters at the scene, they were upset over a blasphemous comment made by Malam Abdul Nyass, from the Tijjaniyya path of Islam. Protesters outside the Sharia Court eventually burned it down out of frustration over the statements made against the Holy Prophet Muhammad. The youth, coming from all over Kano State, arrived to the demonstration area holding placards condemning the statement he made about the Holy Prophet Muhammad. The protests headed towards the Mandawari and Dandago areas, where they planned onconfronting the Emir of Kano,Lamido Sanusi, to lay their complaints. Among the protesters were old men and Muslim women, many of whom were condemning the Malam Abdul Nyass’s statements and calling for punishment according to Islamic rites. Malam Abdul Nyass is a known figure among the followers of Tijjaniyya and made the controversial statements against prophet Muhammad last week during his usual sermon at Goron Dutse of Kano. All effort to contact the police spokesman, ASP Musa Magaji Majia proved abortive as he declined to pick the calls put to his phone number. http://vibes247.com/muslim-youths-burn-down-a-kano-sharia-court-over-blasphemous-comments/
