Dear all, Pls I have PR in Canada. I recently applied for my aunt VV but was refused on acct of insufficient funds and the VO not convinced she will return.
Fast forward to Nov '24. I applied again but this time with more money in her acct, got a leave letter, and an immigration lawyer helped back it up with some letters.
However, we dint attach her expired visas and some other positions she occupied in Nigeria. This only came to mind after we've applied.
Pls kindly advice if I am good or otherwise? |

Hello People,
Please my aunt applied for her UK Student visa and she's got a mail that her application has been approved since December. However, she has not got her passport back and this is 8weeks after. She has gone to TLS Ikeja but they wouldn't attend to her. She has also mailed UK Consular but now they are telling her to give 15 working days. Meanwhile her deadline for registration is 27 Jan. Please what can she do again? she is so exhausted now.
This is very urgent if you have any information please. |

Kekereekun123: number is not a requirement. Lets keep the application simple with less documentation. Some VO gat no joy and wont go through all I honestly do not get your point. |

tojumi18: Hello, I am awaiting ITA but am confused on POF...must the fund be in my account for 6month. You wouldn’t need the money to get in the pool. However, you will need to show it once you’ve got ITA and before you submit your application. Docs to show as POF; 1) if you got the money from parents, get a gift deed, if not start frm (4) below, 2) notarise the gift deed if you can, 3) print out the transfer slip, 4) get introductory & non-indebtedness letters from your bank, 5) print out your bank statement & with an highlighter indicate your pof, 6) scan/merge these docs together and attach to POF placeholder before submitting your application. |

Madam! Madam!! Madam!! You don’t need to show any proof of relationship. All you would need to show are; i) a Gift Deed letter (notarise if you like) from your Dad. ii) a print out showing the transfer details, and iii) your bank statement highlighting the amount transferred. Pls, be careful of too much documents. Thecannylady: Good evening everyone. I am doing a gift deed for my POF(coming from my dad). I believe I need to show a proof of our relationship. I don't have a birth certificate. All I have is a declaration of age..will this be enough in addition to his International passport and my wedding certificate which carries his name as my father? Please help! |

Sent you a PM, am not sure you saw that. SirKastic: Hi, yes I filled the same form cos I work in a govt establishment and they needed record of all my previous positions, not just the one I was claiming points for - I guess. Going by that, I think your PPR should be close too. Congrats in advance! |

Hey, I got ADR on Dec 20th to fill enclosed Government Employment Form. I had filled NYSC as Government. Is that the case with you as well? I also see you got PPR already. SirKastic: Silent reader PPR alert *Tearssssss shirt* for special effect!!
Decision to travel - Since I was old enough and realised our leaders will not allow Nigeria harness her full potential.
I initially wanted to go for my Msc in Canada but opted for UK cos of family ties there. After my MSc in UK (2013), I moved back to naija to resume at my job from study leave, and within the first few month being back, I knew I had made a mistake coming back to this country - It was depressing sometimes, especially if you've lived in a developed country where the system works. January 1st 2018, I decided to stop complaining and do something about it. Spoke with a friend who had just moved to Canada with his family and he gave me the load down. I booked IELTS in March 2018 and this marked my battle to pass 'common english' test (imagine),I kept falling short of .5 in listening - aced it at the 4th attempt with 8778. While battling IELTS, I did WES for my Msc - this bit was easy as it was a UK uni.
ITA
Armed with 8778 and CRS of 456, I was confident as ITA scores was still within 440s - ITA came April 19th, 2019. Got PCC for UK and Naija (Abuja) - pretty straight forward. Did medicals with IOM - they gave me a mini scare asking about HIV and if im sexually active (for my mind I say so na so all my sins & village people wan take finally get me now) but thankfully, everything came out clean (E b like say make i photocopy the result hang for my parlour). sigh of relief.
POF
Had some bread saved up and while discussing with my father to update him of my decision to relocate, I mentioned POF and he decided to give me POF -correct guy. Got a gift deed and notarised it, bought T-bills and added my own savings as a buffer.
EMPLOYMENT
I have over 10 years experience in HR but claimed points for the last 3 years in and added the following: Employment letter Confirmation letter promotion letters Reference letter Pay stubs Bank statement ( highlighted salary inflow) T-Bills from my personal savings (buffer)
AOR: May 25th 2019 then the journey began.....
I hoped this would be speedy as I noticed February AOR got PPR within 3 months. My rent was getting due and i really didn't want to renew it so this got me tensed at some point. You see, patience had never been one of my virtues but this process taught me a lesson - there's nothing you can do about it than to just chill and live your life. I couldn't make immediate plans, buy certain stuffs, or commit to things cos I was waiting for golden mail (na wa!). At some point you start questioning your application and if you filled everything right. I made a conscious decision not to order GCMC notes or call. However, I raised a CSC on the 5th month to find out my VO. they responded about a week later - Ottawa CPC. Got invited to May AOR group on Telegram ... there were lots of jokes and it helped take the pressure off although eh, Inidan people can worrrryyyyyyy.. loll. I gave in to small pressure and mailed Ralph to ask about my application as I read he's usually helpful - the man nor even answer me, I later learnt he lost his re-election bid.. so I nor blame am. The wait continued.
November 13th I got a mail for ADR for Record of Government Employment, I responded same day and then long silenceeeeee. After hanging out with my colleagues on December 24th, I got home and later at night i lazily checked my mail only to find Ready for Visa email staring at me.. jaw dropped... Christmas came early for me.
Ive been on this Nairaland page mostly as an observer but I learnt alot. The depth of info I gathered from here was amazing, reading other people's story and being happy when they announced their PPR kept me going and knowing my turn will come one day. I'll just like to add that what ever stage you are at now, keep pushing and taking it one step at a time. Set a time frame to get things done and you'll get there too. cheers to you all and I wish we all get to our destination and live a fulfilled life.
AOR May 25th Med Passed July 5th. silencee Raised 2 CSC - 1 know VO - Ottawa and the other after the 6th month for application update ADR Nov13th - Government Employment Records PPR December 24th Single Guy ...maybe the LOML is inside the Canada sef waiting for me..lol
Season greetings to you all!! |

NanaF: Finally received my GCMS. Officer said I did not provide proof of funds so ‘review required’ for eligibility. Also commented that I provided $0 out of the required proof of funds.
Used my stanbic mutual funds letter/statement and pension letter/statement, included explanation on POF in LOE, even included a table breaking everything down alongside the exchange rate.
This thing is very unpredictable because you don’t know the officer that will be in charge of your file. Liquidate your POF immediately, print your bank statement, and send CSE. Otherwise, it’s straight rejection. |

Fenix: Hello everyone. I hope this is not a newbie question.
I did my masters in the US and had to submit a WES application for that. Can I still use the same evaluation report? It was a course by course evaluation.
I have tried to see if there is a separate application to get my credentials accredited for Canadian immigration purposes but I don't see the option. You will need a document-by-document evaluation for EE. Have WES US transfer your documents to WES Canada for document-by-document evaluation. |

Morex1000: There is this agency that is claiming to secure 2 years work permit in Canada, as anybody used them before. The company is Mainstream Travels and Tour and are located in Jabi Abuja. Will appreciate any comments on them. Using an agent seems to me like a shortcut, most people get burnt. Not only can they misrepresent you, you will be overcharged. |

magastefan: Hello gurus in the house....I have a question that is bothering me... I worked in a Mbank btw 2014-2016 during recession in 2016 more than 80percent of Lagos branch workers were sacked including me... Now I want to use this to add to my 6yrs experience... Will the sack affect me in any way if CIC is notified? Should I just claim a 4 year experience?
Awaiting your response on this Well, for work experience you gain maximum point from 3yrs above. 4yrs in your case is fine and adequate. Claiming 6yrs won't give you more point than 3yrs, it's all same point. |

Chamberlain76: Hello beautiful people,
I have a quick question. I have been denied uk visit visa before which I have declared in my application. Is it okay to attach a copy of the refusal letter under Client information placeholder? Is there anyone who has done this before?
Pleas help with your answers You have done what CIC requires of you by declaring your refusal. However, if uploading makes you feel better, it's fine. I wouldn't bother though. Make sure you aren't leaving out what's relevant for the irrelevant. |

Ologunsunny: Please how do you highlight money on your statement of account, the question looks cheap but I don't know, are we going to use pencil before we scan it or there is a special software for that, I searched for highlighter but Google is bringing different thing thanks. You can get an highlighter from any bookstore. Neatly colour the salary descriptions on your statement, and the corresponding amounts. You can then scan. |

Chamberlain76: I actually have the same issue. I work in a bank. So what I'm using are:
Reference letter Offer of employment letter Confirmation letter Salary upgrade letter Promotion letter Work ID card Payslips and Bank statement highlighting my monthly salary (using a highlighter)
I actually got this idea from someone who used them and got PPR recently. If you have a reference letter, and the only issue is that it doesn't state your salary, pls why do you need all these? Payslips and bank statement highlighting your salaries will suffice. |

Silversurfer1: The evaluations are only advisory. It's up to the VO to make the final decision. I guess that's how WES view law degrees So, if a processing officer recognises it as normal degree, then it is. Guys, better to have it stated on your ECA as professional qualification ooo... |

Vousmevoyez: If a couple gets PPR, can they mail their passports separately because they are not together in the same country at the time? Also, can they enter Canada at different times as long as it's in the period of entry? e.g husband go to Canada in June and wife in August 1) Why not have your passport sent to the PA so you guys can submit together? 2) The PA must land before the SA. |

ANYBODY, EVERYBODY
Before you start writing at all, plan/think on paper. Write out your points for each side and note which you are better equipped to support or be against.
Now the essay;
Introduction: Your intro needn't be long but must be captivating. What you are trying to achieve is get the attention of the marker. If you can get the marker's interest at this point, you are most likely to get a good grade. Here's how I think you could do that. However precise your intro is make an opinion. Let the marker know which side of the argument you are. Particularly for essays that ask you to speak for or against.
Paragraphs: Each paragraph must carry a view point. A good number of paragraphs shud suffice to argue your points. I wouldn't go more than 3-4 though.
Use Connectives: These are words that help link your thoughts. E.g However, yet, on the other hand, therefore, furthermore, although etc. When you use these words, you help the marker focus on your main ideas. Although, connectives like first, second are too basic. I wouldn't use them.
Share a view on the other side: This I learnt while preparing for Toefl. When you are done arguing your points in about 3 paragraphs. Let your 4th paragraph say a few thing about the other side of the argument. Say you are writing about early marriage. Let's assume you are arguing for, you can also say something like On the other hand, when people marry late they tend to be ready and are better mature to handle issues when they arise. This however is not enough point to say marriage at old age is better But at this point remember that isn't ur position and also counter it in a way. The reason you have to counter it immediate is so you let the marker know your view point is better.
Conclusion: Your conclusion should summarise your paragraphs. Sometimes a single word that encapsulates your thought is enough for summary. |
