v. have properties (land, automobiles) worth over N12m (what do i need to proof these apart from their documents)
vi. Have Pension account with balance in excess of N3m

viii. Plan pushing funds into my mutual fund account to the tune of N3m
ix. Sponsor (inlaw) lives and works in europe (not sure of her monthly take home as a clinical staff)
x. Currently work as head of a unit in consulting firm.
xi. I am applying for a professional programme that runs for 12 months inclusive of about four months internship

I totally get you. But the important question is...will the Visa officer understand from your point of view. I usually advise applicants that 'If any part of your application doesn't add up in your head, chances that it wouldn't to the VO is high'.

With your years of experience and what you intend to achieve with the training you are applying for, I think it is only proper to act as your sponsor! Leave family issue of who will cater for your family in your absence. You will sort that out happily when your successfully collect your visa!

About the program you are going for, it is left to you to convince the visa officer in your letter of explanation why you are going to spend so much on an international degree and why you have chosen to not study in your home country! You need to do a lot of work and research on this letter and explain everything in full details and facts to back up your claims!

I wish you all the best! Feel free to share on this thread any issues you may encounter in your application process. We are one big happy family!!! grin
Many thanks for the response, however, i need clarification on the sponsorship.

Well, the first red flag I noticed is you are retiring at 40+ to float a consulting firm and then it is your in law sponsoring your studies (doesn't add up).

Secondly you are at the verge of starting a business and you want to spend so much on studies/skills you could easily acquire in your home country.

These are just my observations I feel you should look into as they may arise when the VO is reviewing your application.

If the purpose of this your study is truly just to migrate to Canada...Try the Express Entry route...you stand better chances through that!

Lastly, the weather should be the least of your worries. Once you can get your visa. Everything else you can easily adapt to!
Many thanks for the response and advice, however, my inlaw sponsoring the programme doesnt mean i cant finance it too. He just want to take up the responsibility while i make sufficient provision fro my family while away. I agree with you that it makes no sense going to Canada to study when there are opportunities to do so in Nigeria, however, you didnt take cognizance of the in-depth training in Canada, the duration and of course the work experience it provides unlike Nigeria where you can only get such training for few days. There is quite a lot of difference if you understand what i mean.

Again, thanks you so much for the observation, contribution and advice. I look forward to your further review.

Dear All,

First, I appreciate you for this forum. Information shared have been very valuable and helpful. However, I have a perculiar case that requires advice from all members.

I am in my early forties and planning on retirement to float a consulting firm in IT. To achieve this i intend pursuing a professional programme (ACS) in Montreal for 12 months (programme comes with internship) then acquire relevant work experience there for one year after graduation before returning home to set up my firm. My inlaw has agreed to sponsor the study whether full or part.

I have applied for my CAQ and have it approved, i intend applying for my Study visa. What do you think are the required documents required for this? What do you think are my chances of getting the TRV approved? How long does it take to get decision on Study permit? Can I do upfrot medical, if yes, what's the advantage/disadvantage? I had deferred my admission from October 2017 to Febraury 2018 before of the slight delay in CAQ approval. Do you think February will be a good time to visit Canada considering the tough temperature during winter?

I kook forward to your response.

Hi Rare,
congrats on your study permit. thanks also for your mail. The truth is that I don't know much about the PR.
A friend of mine advised me to try the study option as he did and is presently living with his family in Ontario.
He also said the study option is faster than other options. in the place of study, he advised the Province nominal scheme
but I didn't mee the requirement.
I not only want to relocate with my family, I also want to study. I cannnot aford being away from my family for a very long time
(I want them by me). I will therefore appreciate enlightenment on the PR option and how to go about it.
Once more thanks for your reposne.

Hi Guys,
I'm new in this forum, stumbled on it while searching for travelling tips to canada. I am a polytechnics graduate with HND in computer Science and have over seven yeas work experience in a financial institution as an IT client support staff. I wish to apply for a postgraduate course in any IT related course in canada. I hereby wish to inquire the ff:

i. Do I qualify for a postgrad considering my academic qualification
ii. Can I sponsor myself (I am married with three kids)
iii. Do we have a reliable agent/consultant in Nigeria? Do I really need them?
iv When is the right time to apply?
v. My main objective is to relocate with my family after study, so, how do I start?

Thank you
