Career / 10 Baby Steps To Be Calm Under Pressure In School (and At Work) by darejulius: 1:40pm On Oct 17, 2015 |
The pressure was mounting. I almost quit school after writing my finals. The project was just frustrating and the pressure from my supervisor was not helping. It was one of the most intense period of my stay on campus, running up and down to get things done. Calling lots of people to help with the mathematical simulation of my results data. I was up one night, crying, moving from one lecture theater to another then finally went to the hostel and put my head under a running tap for like eternity. Later in the night, I took a laptop, went into one of the classes (architecture drawing room) and watched AY LIVE comedy all night. I was laughing and chatting on whatsapp. When I was done, I watched few movies (can't remember the titles now). Then, I listened to some upbeat music and slept off around 5am. I can't remember how I did it but at the end of the day, I was using Excel solver to program the mathematical models. I had never used Excel before and it was like doing a break dance the first time you tried walking. A few weeks later, I went back to campus to teach someone who was doing a similar project. At the beginning of my final year, I was often out of classes. A friend came up to me and said, "Dare, you've been walking up and down... What's up with you?". "This motion is keeping my sanity... Dunno what would happen if I stopped walking.", I replied. To see opportunities when others see discomfort...to be calm under pressure, I do one or a concoction of the following. 1. Eat, sleep and play These are the basics of life. 718 years ago when we were still in the cave, the goal was to seek for meats, cover and mates. Then civilization came and it went, it came several other times and this cycle will soon leave. To be calm under pressure, disengage from the situation and go and eat. Cook it yourself if you can. Sleep over it and... www.thedopeculture..com/2015/10/10-baby-steps-to-be-calm-under-pressure.html 1 Like |

Don't play the victim to circumstances you created yourself. Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe, go slow.......but take the step. |

Boredom, anger, sadness, or fear are
not 'yours,' not personal. They are
conditions of the human mind. They
come and go. Nothing that comes

Career / The World Is Mine Oh God, Forgive Me When I Whine by darejulius: 2:47pm On Oct 14, 2015 |
The World Is Mine Oh God, Forgive Me When I Whine Today, upon a bus, I saw a girl with golden hair. I envied her, she seemed so gay, and wished I was as fair. When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobbled down the aisle. She had one leg and wore a crutch. And as she passed... a smile. Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 legs, the world is mine I stopped to buy some candy. The lad who sold it had such charm. I talked with him, he seemed so glad. If I were late, it'd do no harm. And as I left, he said to me, "I thank you, you've been so kind. It's nice to talk with folks like you. You see," he said, "I'm blind." Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 eyes, the world is mine. Later while walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue. He stood and watched the others play. He did not know what to do. I stopped a moment and then I said, "Why don't you join the others, dear?" He looked ahead without a word. And then I knew, he couldn't hear. Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 ears, the world is mine. With feet to take me where I'd go. With eyes to see the sunset's glow. With ears to hear what I'd know. Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine........ ~ Red Foley http://thedopeculture..com/2015/10/manvotional-world-is-mine.html 1 Like |

Zen Story: Be The Lion
A Sufi teaching story tells of a man who prayed
continually for the awareness to succeed in life.
Then one night he dreamed of going into the
forest to attain understanding. The next morning
he went into the woods and wandered for several
hours looking for some sign that would provide
answers. When he finally stopped to rest, he saw
a fox with no legs lying between two rocks in a
cool place. Curious as to how a legless fox could
survive, he waited until sunset when he observed
a lion come and lay meat before the fox. “Ah, I
understand,” the man thought. “The secret to
success in life is to trust that God will take care
of all my needs. I don’t need to provide for
myself. All I have to do is totally surrender to my
all-sustaining God.” Two weeks later, weakened
and starving, the man had another dream. In it he
heard a voice say, “Fool. Be like the lion, not like
the fox.” |

The quality of your life is the quality of your emotions. If you're not happy in your intimate relationships, you're not happy. It doesn't matter how successful you are. No matter the negativity, flood yourself with positivity. |

Chiscomax:That's great. One more thing, make today sugar-coated . Don't attach yourself to the outcomes you get today. You're an amazing person seeking references in the day to be more amazing. And if all is gloomy and out of Resonance with your amazing personality, don't fret. Be happy. Choose to be amazing, happy, excited... No matter what. Remembering that what has control over our emotions, has control over us. Be focused, stay grounded and let nothing undo you. Be glad no matter what! |

Career / 5 Places To Learn Free Programming Lessons Online by darejulius: 1:38pm On Oct 08, 2015 |
You don't have to pretend like you know what you're doing. Here are five places you can learn programming online (real time)... 1. CodeAcademy. At CodeAcademy, you can dive right in and take courses that teach you everything from HTML & CSS , JavaScript , jQuery, PHP, Python and Ruby. I highly recommend this. Genius. 2. Coursera While you can pay for certain programs to receive a certificate, there are a number of free introductory programming courses in various specializations from universities such as the University of Washington, Stanford, the University of Toronto and Vanderbilt. This one dope! 3. edX It was founded by Harvard University and MIT in 2012, so you know that you’ll learn about cutting-edge technologies and theories. Today, edX includes 60 schools. You probably can’t go wrong with the free Introduction to Computer Science from Harvard University. OMG! This is good 4. Udemy While there are courses you have to pay for, there are plenty of free programming courses, which are taught via video lessons, such as Programming for Entrepreneurs - HTML & CSS or Introduction to Python Programming.. Alright pick this. 5. aGupieWare While you won’t actually receive credit, it’s a perfect introductory program for prospective computer programmers. There are other leading platforms where you can hone your programming skills. These are the best of the best. Darejulius. Life is all about evolution. What looks like a mistake to others has been a milestone in my life. Even if people have betrayed me, even if my heart was broken, even if people misunderstood or judged me, I have learned from these incidents.
