been observing this thread for a while even contributed once. like i said before we don't need all this silly comparisons, insults or abuse. i for one am happy (with the pictures posted from both sides) with the developmental strides both nigeria and kenya has made. people we have still lots of problems to solve, challenges to overcome to waste arguing whose run down vehicle is better than the other. europe is light years ahead of us you don't see british or germans engaging themselves on whose better. asia from being a basket case years ago look at china, japan (post world war), south korea, india, pakistan, etc. back to us africans i think we should seek to collaborate more, aiding each other where we have expertise. we all need to humble ourselves not laughing over who has more poor people or more AIDS patients. the rest of the world is already doing that to us. we need to get busy improving our respective countries. God bless Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and Africa!

2000mw is enough to power the whole of Nigeria households; Most households in kenya with really nice weather require power for only 2hrs - btw 7-9pm - for lighting and TV. A fridge running the whole day doesn't cost consume lots of power.

Kenya power consumption has been grown at about 10% annually (with supply now outpacing demand) - and so by 2020mw - with universal access - we can do it 5,000mw. We expect to have 15,000mw in 2030. This in line with growing economy and kenyans becoming richer - meaning they can afford more household appliances that consume power.

Countries like South Africa or Argentina need 40,000 mw to help them mine gold, diamond and such heavy industries.

Light industries like textile/apparels/fast moving goods -packaging of food / do not require a lot electricity.

Kenya solar power - I think highest installation (mws) & per capita in Africa (same with Nigeria buying millions of generators annually ). Kenyans who are off-grid (soon to be a thing of the past) buy solar panels instead of noisy smoky generators

MKOPA solar - with 300,000 customers - gives you free solar kit - that you pay 50shs per day (0.5 cent usd) for 2yrs. They give poor folks enough power for their phones, lighting and even TV. No noise. No petrol. And you pay slowly for it.

Kenya can tell you that is boneheaded idea that won't work. Farming or agriculture is nothing novel. It been modernize for 500 years plus now. All you need is to copy the best - like kenya in some areas - and you'll be off to good start. No need for pain. Produce cheaper rice, wheat and anything - by employing well known modern farming methods. Subsidize farm inputs. Apply fertilizers for a start. You've got oil - one of ingredient and up north is Morroco with lots of phosphorous.

The other thing I know we import are processed foods and palm oil which we have I'm abundance too but the cost of processing ours is higher than the imported once. Except we ban importation of Palm oil our local farmers won't be able to compete with foreign once.
