reason you’ll see so many contradictions in the Bible is because there are at least seven different religions in it fused together as if they were one. Originally there was no Christian Bible there was only, the Hebrew Bible, which was translated into Greek (called the Septuagint) around the third and second centuries BCE for Greek speaking Jews living in Alexandria, Egypt who could no longer read Hebrew. The Septuagint was adopted by Greek speaking Jewish Christians living in Egypt and was later translated into Latin between 382 and 405 CE.. Pope Damasus commissioned Jerome (Eusebius Hieronymus) to translate the New Testament and the Septuagint from Greek into Latin. Jerome used these translations to create the first official Christian Bible, the Roman Catholic, Latin Vulgate. In the fourth century AD, the Jewish religion was well established when orthodox Roman Catholic Christianity was created, and subsequently merged the Hebrew Bible (called the Old Testament by Christians) with the New Testament writings to provide a historical foundation for their fledgling religious cult. The Jews don't accept the Christian Bible because the Roman Catholic Christians reinterpreted their Hebrew Bible, to make it support their view that, Jesus was the prophesized Messiah to come or God in the flesh. That’s how we get the first two religions fused together in the bible, as if they were always one. But even in the Old Testament (the Hebrew Bible) there are two different Gods of two different religions. One of the Gods was called El or Elohim and the other was called Yah or Yahweh. El was the God of Israel and you see El as a part of the names of all the significant characters who worshipped El as their God: Michael, Gabriel, Daniel, Samuel and even in the name of the nation, Israel. Yah or Yahweh was the God of Judah and you see that in the names of His worshippers, like Elijah, Elisha, Nehemiah, Jeremiah and in the name of the original Jewish State, Judah. You don’t believe there were two different Gods in the Old Testament and that the “Children of Israel” had two different Gods or don’t want to believe it? Well let’s look at Kings 12:21 where it's stated, “And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah , with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel , to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon”. The “Children of Israel” split into two separate kingdoms: the Northern Kingdom of the ten tribes of Israel, named after their God El and the Southern kingdom of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, who united to form the Kingdom of Judah, named after their God Yah or Yahweh. Do you believe it now? When we Add these Gods and religions together with the previous two, that makes four religions in the Bible! The writer of Exodus tries to hide the fact that the “Children of Israel” had two different Gods with this little bit of rationalizing; “And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: 6: 3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty (in Hebrew El Shaddai), but by my name YAHWEH was I not known to them”. Exodus 6:2 (You see… here God says is Name is El (God) almighty) God changed his name? Well it’s obvious that the “Children of Israel” had no knowledge of this God, that's why the writer is trying to make it seem as though it's the same God as the “God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” but that doesn’t appear to be the case. But here's the kicker, “God Almighty” in Hebrew is El Shaddai. El means God. The patriarch Jacob's name was changed to “Israel” because his God was El. As I mentioned earlier, the characters in the Old Testament have the names of their Gods incorporated into their personal names. The writer of Exodus says God’ name is Yahweh but he's trying to make it seem as if El and Yahweh are one and the same, in an attempt to make it appear as if the “Children of Israel” were always one nation who believed in the same God! As if the ‘Children of Israel” had a long historical relationship with Yahweh dating back to Abraham which they obviously didn't. The Exodus writer tries to hide this, making it seem that this is the same God with a different name. Remember, he’s writing years after the fact (if it is a fact) when the “Children of Israel” were divided against each other and in their choice of Gods; but let’s move on. And let’s not forget the fifh religion in the Bible, the monotheistic religion of Moses, who led the “Children of Israel” out of Egypt. The reason that Moses had to wander around the desert for forty years disciplining the “Children of Israel” was because after living in Egypt for four hundred years, they were more Egyptian then the were “ Israelite” and kept reverting back to their old Egyptian religious practices. (They were just as much Egyptian as African-Americans are Americans after living in America for four hundred years.) Moses was attempting to create a new people with a new identity and a new religion. The poor guy had to make numerous laws and prohibitions against any behavior, ritual or God, that was like their former religion. If you read the story, you’ll see he had a hell of a time trying make that happen! Not to mention that Moses, himself was, an Egyptian; He was raised and educated in the Egyptian royal household from infancy to adulthood (if you believe the text). In fact, the text shows that the daughters of the priest of Midian couldn’t tell the difference between Moses and an Egyptian. “And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.2:18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that you are come so soon to day? 2:19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock”. Exodus 2:17 I think that pretty much stamps him as an Egyptian don’t you? The writer of Exodus obviously wanted to keep Moses Egyptian identity secret, because he deleted the first part of his name and only left the title, Moses. Moses is Egyptian for son or heir, as Ben or Bar is son or heir in Hebrew. There were many Egyptian Pharaohs with Moses as part of their names. There was Thotmose, Amonmose, Ahmose, Ptahmose, Ramose, (translated Rameses in English) and others. “The final S is an addition drawn from the Greek translation of the Old Testament (the Septuagint). It's not in the Hebrew, which has ‘Mosheh’ instead of Moses”. (Moses and Monotheism, S. Freud, 1939 Vantage Books.) Current scholarship supports the idea that Moses was actually the heretical, eighteenth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh, Akhenaton, who’s credited with establishing the first exclusively monotheistic religion on record. The archeological evidence shows that Akhenaton was an actual historical person, his tomb, his city and other artifacts have been found, while there is no archeological evidence to support that Moses ever existed. (“Out of Egypt, the roots of Christianity revealed” Ahmed Osman 1998 Random House. “Moses The Egyptian” Jan Assman, 1997 Harvard University Press.) And let’s not forget the sixth religion in the Bible, the Christianity of the Apostle, Paul, who never even met Jesus (real Jewish name Yeshua, in English, Joshua) but is said to have had a visionary encounter with him on the road to Damascus. “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 9:6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. 9:7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man”. Act 9:3 Paul’s name was Saul before this experience after which his name was changed to Paul. Actually, the text doesn’t say his name was changed; it just starts referring to him as Paul instead of Saul. So you see, Paul never met the historical Jesus, so he was focused on Christ, the spiritual man, while the disciples focused on, Jesus, the physical man. Paul says the he preached his version of Christ long before he met the disciples and that his testimony of Christ wasn't received from man, “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days 1:19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. 1:20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. 1:21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia” Galatians 1:15 In Galatians 2:20 he further says, “I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Paul says that Christ lives in him, not Jesus, which would have been a physical impossibility; nowhere in the four gospels do the disciples ever say that Christ lived in them. This shows that Paul and the disciples held different religious view about Jesus. Paul's Jesus was spiritual, as was his Christianity, where as the disciples Christianity was physical (centered on the historical and physical person of Jesus). Even Paul's view of what a Jew is, is based on a spiritual rather than physical view, “ For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God”. Romans 2:28 Inwardly, of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter are all proof positive that Paul’s view of Christianity is spiritual not literal. His experience of Jesus was so different from the disciples that they agreed that they would preach their gospel to the Jews while Paul would preach his gospel to the Greco-Roman and non-Jewish world, collectively referred to as the Gentiles. Just to piggyback on this difference between Paul's and the disciples’ view. Their focus was so much on the resurrection of Jesus’ physical body. The writer of Luke takes pains to show the resurrected Jesus was flesh and bones, and even has him asking for some meat to eat, as proof that his dead body had risen from the grave like a zombie! “But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 24:38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 24:40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 24:41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. Luke 24:43 And he took it, and did eat before them”. Luke 24:37 The writer of acts has Jesus ascending to heaven physically, “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight”. Act 1:9 But in Corinthians Paul’s expounds a more spiritual view of the resurrection, The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. 15:48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption”. 1Corinthian 15:47 Paul says flesh and blood can’t inherit the kingdom of God but Acts has Jesus physically ascending to heaven. This illustrates the variant beliefs Paul and the disciples had about the resurrection. The disciples believed Jesus’ physical body rose from the dead and ascended to heaven but Paul's believed the resurrection was of the spiritual body not of the physical body. And the contradictions abound. Paul said that the gospel he preached was the only true gospel which means all other gospels were false including Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed’. Galatians 1: 6 Paul is so emphatic that his gospel is the only true gospel he says, even if an angel preached any other gospel besides the one he preached let him be cursed! Note, that Paul refers to the gospel singular not the Gospels plural. So does Jesus “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel”. Mark 1:15 Paul’s writings predate the writing of the four Gospels and he said there was only one gospel, his gospel, presumably the same gospel that Jesus is referring to, so where did these later gospels come from and Who wrote them? Before Christianity became the state religion of the Roman Empire, it was originally a Jewish cult persecuted by Jewish and Roman clergy as being heretical. After it became the state religion of the empire, the New Testament documents were written collected and compiled into one book with the Hebrew bible. The doctrine that Old Testament writings foretold the coming of, Jesus, their newly arrived God in the flesh, was used as rationale for why this was done. As I said previously, that’s one the of reasons the Jews don’t accept the Christian bible, even though it contains some of their writings, because neither Jesus nor the New Testament were part of their original bible. So with Paul’s and the disciples’ variant takes on Jesus that makes seven religions in the Bible. So there you have it folks; at least seven religions in the Bible. I know true believers will hide behind the shield of their beliefs will try to tear this all apart. Go right ahead…you’re welcomed to try |
What's up How ya doing? Here’s something that occurred to me a while ago. So I was inspired to hub about it. But first, let me say this. I'm not trying to prove the Bible is true or false. I'm just taking an open-minded look at what's written in it and reporting what I see. Some people find certain verses in the Bible, difficult, contradictory and hard to understand. But just shrug and say "oh well!", and go on their merry way. I'm not one of those people. So here we go, "And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs. After His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many". Matt 27:50-53 Don't you find this story interesting? I find it very interesting. I never hear anyone, believers or preachers etc. talk about his scenario. Dead saints rising from their graves and walking among the living, like zombies in the "Night Of The Living Dead" zombie movie! Woe! How many times, have some of you read this story and just kind of glossed over the dead saints rising from their graves part? Isn't Jesus supposed to be the only person to come back from the dead? Isn't that a major reason why Christians believe in Jesus? Isn’t that part of what they say makes him different from anyone else in history? .But here you have dead saints rising from the dead before Jesus does! Uh Oh! Houston! I think we have a problem. Why don't Christians and preachers talk about this incident? Why do they skip over it and only focus on Jesus' rising from the dead? Are we supposed to take this story literally? That multiple dead people, including Jesus "came" back from the dead and showed themselves to many people, but that news didn't spread beyond that area where the incident supposedly occurred? I don't think so. No historians from those times mention this tale. Here's the first clue that this story wasn't written during the time this incident supposedly occurred or by those who supposedly witnessed it. Dead saints! What dead saints are they talking about? Were there saints in the Judaism during that time? No. Were there saints in Christianity at that time? No. Christianity didn't exist until well after Jesus' supposed "ascension" to heaven. So they couldn't have been Christian saints. So whose saints were they? Lets see what Eason's Bible Dictionary says about the word saint, (Saint) "one separated from the world and consecrated to God; one holy by profession and by covenant; a believer in Christ (Psalms 16:3, Romans 1:7 Phil 1:1;Hebrews 6:10). (The "saints" spoken of in Jude 1:14 are probably not the disciples of Christ, but the "innumerable company of angels" ( Hebrews 12:22 ; Psalms 68:17, with reference to Deuteronomy 33:2.This word is also used of the holy dead (Matthew 27:52 ; Revelation 18:24). It was not used as a distinctive title of the apostles and evangelists and of a "spiritual nobility" till the fourth century. In that sense it is not a scriptural title".) So, they couldn't have been Christian apostles and evangelists, because they weren't called saints until the fourth century AD, way after this story was supposedly written in the first century AD. So which brand of Christianity had saints in the fourth century AD? El correcto! Catholic Christianity. So I would say that this story had to have been written after the establishment of Catholic Christianity and the Catholic Church, in the fourth century AD, because that's when the apostle's and evangelists were first called saints, wouldn't you agree? Do you really believe that if dead Saints (zombies) came out of their graves and walked among the living it wouldn't have made the "news" of day or even leave a blip on the radar screen of ancient history, except in this story? If you do...I want some of what you been smoking! And what happen to these zombie saints? The story says they showed themselves to many people after Jesus' resurrection, but after that we her nothing about them. Did they climb back into their graves? Where did they go? The zombie saints seemed to be mentioned in this story, along with the temple cracking and the earth quaking, to make Jesus' death seem like a supernatural occurrence. I think this is a made up story. The reason I say this along with the other things I’ve pointed out, is, if Jesus was the "son of God" and contradictory, "God in the flesh". Why did he have to die? Believers might say to show he had power over death. Then why is it when he was dying on the cross he cried out "My, My God Why Have You forsaken me? " Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?” that is, “MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?” Matt 27:45-46 Do you think Jesus was crying out to himself for help or to someone other them himself for help? I think the obvious answer is someone other than himself for help. All of this places the authenticity of this story in the "great bin of doubt" for me, what about for you? Either those who wrote this story were too stupid to see the glaring contradictions in this tale. Or thought those who would read it, were too stupid to see them. But then again, not many people could read or write during those times. Priests were the ones who could read and write and who educated the royalty and the nobles. Most of the common folks couldn't read or write. You've heard how if you whisper something in someone's ear at party and tell them to whisper it in someone else's ear and they into someone else's ear and so on and so on. That by the time it gets back to you. It may sound nothing like what you originally said. So imagine if some Hebrew speaking person, told a story like this one to one or more people thousands of years ago. Then those people told to it other people and they told it to other people and so on and so on. Then Greek speaking people learned the story and told it to others and they told it to others and so on and so on. Then Latin speaking people learned the story and told to others and so on and so on. Finally, Old English speaking people learned the story and told to others and so on and so on. And this went on for thousands of years. Then we learned the story in modern English from others who learned the story from others and so and so on. Do you think that story would sound anything like the original story told in Hebrew? Or the one told in Greek? Or the one told in Latin? On the one told in Old English? And your answer is......... I thought so! What if this story about Jesus and the dead zombie saints rising from their graves and walking among the living, were about Buddha or some other non-Christian god-man, and you're a Christian would you believe this story was true? I didn't think so. Now apply that same logic to this story. Do you believe this story is true? And your answer is a resounding........... To paraphrase the Buddha, those who accept tradition on faith, are like a chain of blind men, holding hands over time, passing along the message of what the first one said he saw. And to quote Jesus, "... if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." |
This may be the first time that some of you have heard of this topic. Well welcome aboard this journey into a religious idea that has plagued the minds of certain groups of people over long periods of time, causing them to wreck havoc and scorn upon another group of people for hundreds if not thousands of years. Sadly, some people still believe this idea. First the text of the curse then my commentary on the text Genesis chapter 9 20 Noah was the first tiller of the soil. He planted a vineyard; 21 and he drank of the wine, and became drunk, and lay uncovered in his tent. 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the unclothedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. 23 Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the unclothedness of their father; their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s unclothedness. 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan; A slave of slaves shall he be to his brothers." 26 He also said, "Blessed by the Lord my God be Shem; and let Canaan be his slave. God enlarge Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem; and let Canaan be his slave." (Revised Standard Edition) My Commentary Now let’s see what this infamous curse is all about. Well it appears that Noah got drunk and passed-out naked in his tent (Verse 21). His son Ham saw him lying there drunk asleep and told his brothers about it and they covered him with a garment (Verse 22). So it seems that Noah spoke this curse because he was mad that his son, Ham, saw him naked. I guess he was pretty uptight about being seen naked by Ham but not about drinking so much that he'd passed-out and was lying there in the nude where anyone could see him, including Shem and Japheth. Ham just happened to see him first. Now here’s where the story gets interesting. Noah’s mad at his son, Ham, but he curses his grandson Canaan (Verse 25). He says "Cursed be Canaan; a slave of slaves shall you be to your brothers." Why is he cursing his innocent grandson Canaan, who's not in this story at all up to this point and who’s only mentioned here in passing? (Verse 22) And what’s so bad about being seen naked that he’d want to curse anybody anyway, especially his innocent grandson? Ham committed this "horrible" offense so why doesn’t he curse Ham instead? Noah was drunk; so maybe he intended to curse Ham but mistakenly cursed Canaan. At any rate, the person who initially took the “forbidden” action in relation to Noah was Ham not Canaan. Some people say that seeing Noah naked wasn't the real reason for his invoking the curse…that the real reason Canaan was cursed was because he sexually molested Noah while he was sleeping. Read the text for yourself folks; “And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the unclothedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. 23 Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the unclothedness of their father; their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s unclothedness”. (Verse 22) Do you see anything in the text about Canaan molesting his grandfather, Noah? Does it seem to you that the real reason for the curse was that Ham saw Noah naked? If seeing Noah naked wasn't the reason why does the writer emphasize the fact that Ham saw his father's unclothedness and Shem and Japheth didn't? Anyway, the innocent Canaan received the curse not, Ham. Let's move on. Let’s dissect the historical after shocks of this curse. White supremacists and their sympathizers say that Ham was cursed by God with blackness and as a result, all of Ham’s descendants (Black People) are cursed and are destined to be slaves (A good justification for enslaving Africans during the European slave trade.). But as you can see by the text, that’s not true. God doesn’t curse anyone Noah does. (Verse 24-25). Noah doesn’t curse Ham he curses his innocent grandson, Canaan, and the text doesn’t say that Ham or Canaan were cursed with blackness. Noah said in Verse 25, “Canaan shall be a slave of slaves to his brothers” and in Verses 26-27, to his Uncles Shem and Japheth not to white supremacists or any other group. Now who are these brothers Canaan is cursed to be a slave to? Get your bibles out, scroll down to Genesis 10, Verse 6 where it lists the sons of Ham; his son’s are listed as Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan. (Mizraim… was the name generally given by the Hebrews to the land of Egypt…) (Easton’s Revised Bible dictionary) (This probably means that this list of sons is metaphorical or mythological because these are all names of ancient civilizations in Africa; groups of people not individuals). These are the blacks who (according to the text) are the descendants of Ham, who historically, white racists say were cursed by God with blackness; but, again, as you can see from the text that’s not the case. God doesn’t curse Ham or his sons with blackness, but Noah does curse Canaan. So Canaan is cursed to be a slave to his brothers Cush, Egypt, and Put? Canaan is cursed to be a slave to the ancestors of the blacks? Not to mention that if Canaan’s brothers are black… that means Canaan is black… and his father Ham is black...and since Ham, Shem and Japheth all have the same father and mother. It’s logical to conclude that Noah, his wife, Shem and Japheth are black. Remember Ham wasn't cursed with blackness. So that means that if his sons are black, he's black, his mother and father are black, and so are his brothers. That’s how absurd this whole thing about blacks being cursed with blackness is. Blacks weren't cursed with black skin. Dark Skin Is A Blessing Actually, having black skin was a blessing for Africans rather than a curse. Dark skin protected Africans and other dark skin people from being killed or severely burned by the sun. The melanin content of the skin is what causes dark skin. It’s because of melanin that you get tanned rather than burned when you’re out in the hot sun. Those with very fair or pale skin have very little or no melanin in their skin, that’s why they can be severely burned or poisoned by exposure to the sun. You could say that those people are cursed because they don’t have dark skin which is just as stupid as saying that those with dark skin are cursed because they don’t have white skin. I'm surprised by the number of people that don't know about melanin, especially white people. Please those of you who don't know do a search on melanin and get updated and maybe we can start to put an end to some of the stupidity of racism based on skin color. Let’s trace the descendants of the innocent cursed Canaan. Go to Genesis 10, Verse15-20 and you’ll see that the descendants of Canaan actually end up populating a large portion of what’s now the Middle East. Canaan was also the name of the “Promised Land” (roughly were present day Israel is now) that Moses led the Children of Israel to. And since the Israelites were the descendants of Canaan’s uncle, Shem, that means they actually fought their own relatives for possession the “Promised Land”. As I said earlier, if Ham was black, then the whole family of Noah was black, therefore by extension, Moses and the people he led out of Egypt were black. And if you believe that we all descend from Adam and Eve, they were black; which goes along with the current findings of genetic and archeological science that states that, all humans originated in Africa near Ethiopia. Not to mention that Egypt was also a descendant of Ham, where these children of Israel lived and intermingled for four hundred years. (After intermingling with Egyptians for four hundred years, they had become more Egyptian than Israelite; as the descendants of Africans have become more American than African after living in the United States for a similar length of time) So if there were any “cursed descendants of Ham.” It looks like they would have to be Canaan’s descendants. But again…the text doesn’t say Canaan’s descendants were cursed just the innocent Canaan (Verse 25-26). So what happened to the fabled curse on black people? Unless you’re spiritually myopic, you can see from the text that this whole curse thing has just been ethnic propaganda, used for centuries to justify enslaving Africans and their descendants for economic gain and to help relieve the guilt of white Christians for participating in the slave trade. Generally speaking, this myth has allowed all whites to feel superior to blacks for no other reason than that they are white! According to the noted African American Historian and anthropologist, J.A Rogers, in his book "Nature Knows No Color Line" certain Jewish Rabbis in the first or second century A.D. taught that Ham was cursed with blackness for engaging in sex on the ark against God’s command. This is another source of historical misinformation that helped create the psychological climate that made it easier for various white Christian cultures to abuse and enslave blacks for social and economic gain. As Montesquieu, the French political theorist said, “It is impossible for us to suppose these creatures, enslaved Africans, to be men; because allowing them to be men, a suspicion would follow that we ourselves are not Christians.” In other words Christians wouldn't enslave their fellow man. So Montesquieu and others would rather see the enslaved Africans as not human (not men) in order to "save face" and still see themselves as "good" Christians. (How hypocritical is that?) The myth that God "cursed" blacks made it easier for white Christians and others to engage in racist behaviors without feeling guilty about it. (Of course not all whites or white Christians accepted this ideology or engaged in those behaviors and many were totally in opposition to any racist ideology) Blacks must have previously been very powerful and enviously admired in the cultural and religious history of the various white cultures of the world, for so much scorn to have been heaped on them starting in such ancient times. “What a subject for meditation, just think that the race of black men today our slaves and the object of our scorn, is the very race to which we owe our arts, science and even the use of our speech.” Anthropologist, Count Constatin de Volney (1727-1820). Ironically there are African- Americans who believe this myth about blacks being the "Cursed Descendants of Ham" without ever researching it to see if it's true or not! They never critique nor question if what they believe is true or not. They just accept it as true, because that’s what they’ve been taught. But that's the way it is with those who are overly religious or closed minded whether they’re black or white. But we should seek to know the truth if want to free our minds of deception and self deception. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” John 8:32 This article is dedicated to those who believed that blacks were the “Cursed Descendants of Ham” based on what they’ve been taught or believed that the Bible said on the subject. Hopefully after reading this article the truth flashed across your Minds like Lightening across a darken sky,, thx and goodbye |
